I have purchased a new dedicated server for the VE. This server is quite a bit faster than the current one and has twice the storage space. The new server is the same price as the current one, so I jumped at the opportunity to get a new one.
I'll be migrating the old server to the new one over the next few days. Please, do not make any updates to web sites hosted on the old server until we have completed the move. This will allow me to copy all the data over to the new server and have it all be the same.
Here is a list of additional things not to update:
- VE Wiki
- ComNet images (avatars, image gallery)
- Screenshots
You can still post to the ComNet and make roster updates. I'll be moving the database information over last. Once the move is complete, the old server will be unusable until the DNS information has transfered over to the new server.
I am hoping this move will go smoothly. Should have everything done in a few days. Keep an eye out for messages posted on the ComNet. -----------------------

The server data has been moved to the new server. Please do not use the previously listed services until the warning message is gone from the top of the VE pages.
Once the warning message is gone, you will know we are running fully on the new server. You can then continue to function normally.
It should take DNS to recognize the new server anywhere from 6-12 hours. Please be patient during this time as the VE pages will load extra slow.
During the transition, there may be some problems. I am hoping there isn't; but if there is, let me know so I can get them fixed asap.

Looks like all the DNS has been propagated over to the new server now. The new server appears to be running a bit faster.
So far, I only see the following problems:
- ComNet spellchecker is down
Do not try to use the spellchecker at this time. You'll get a ton of errors. -----------------------

ComNet Spell Checker Working

The ComNet spell checker is now working again.
Let me know if anyone finds any other problems.
For those of you with mail accounts on the VE server, you should now be receiving mail on the new server. If you need to check your mail on the old server just to make sure you haven't missed an email, here is a link:
http://64.34.194.45/vastempire.com/squirrelmail/
You could also use the mail server for POP as the IP address of the old server (64.34.194.45).
The old server will only be up for a couple more weeks. So make sure all your sites are working properly before that time; or you may be out of luck. -----------------------
