The monotonous drone of the barracks vending machine actually seemed calming after the Sergeant's over-worked stint of security supervisor duty. It still struck him as quite a tasteless chore, seeing as the only joy of the day involved scolding the newcomers. Nearly all recruits of the Vast Empire Stormtrooper Corps were tossed into regular rounds of guard detail, as if the defense satellites circling Tadath really allowed unauthorized visitors.

Hell... Jakireth thought If they're crafty enough to beat the orbital grid, I bet they could take on a few trigger-happy Privates.

Of course, he wasn't allowed to tell them that. The Director of Security Operations seemed to think a young soldier's spirits were held higher on the priority list then an overseers fun.

"Which they aren't..." He mumbled to himself.

Grabbing his usual energy drink from the receiving tray, Jakireth turned back towards the door, popping the can as he went. Reaching the rectangular opening in front of him, the figure of the familiar Corps duty-uniform shown throughout the hallway; a bustling movement of eager troops. One of these made a pre-determined step toward him, showing a slightly exhausted face.

"Sergeant!" The man exclaimed, "I've been looking everywhere."
Jakireth did a double-take, taking the beverage away from his lips.

"You have?" He asked, pausing, "May I inquire as to why?"

"Major Rizzit, Sergeant. He's requesting a meeting with you as soon as possible."

Jakireth sighed, and prepared to argue the reasons why this was a slight...inconvenience, as they always were.

"Ah, that's good then. He'll get an appearance first thing tomorrow morning. I'm quite tired," He broke off his sentence, searching the trooper's rank board, "As I'm sure you are, Corporal Sheth."

"Aye, sir, but I was strictly informed that if I don't return with you in the next fifteen minutes, I better have a copy of your death certificate. It was the only reason that voids my obligation to bring your person to the Major."

Damnit, Jakireth thought, his eyes drifting to the ceiling, I honestly doubt he requires my good company.

"That's quite a bit, Sheth, and I wouldn't burden you with having to shoot me. Lead the way."

* * * *

"I think I'll skip the part about me telling you it's 11:43 at night, sir." Jakireth said, staring his Company Commander in the eye.

"Good, good. I'll go ahead and discard the pleasantries about me asking if you'd like some coffee and to sit down, so you can just pour some coffee and sit down."

They laughed; Jakireth blinking repeatedly at an attempt to stay awake.

"Two great minds." Rizzit added.

The Sergeant leaned back in his chair, "And it's a damned wonder how they're still working at this hour."

"Well then, on to the matter you were summoned. I need a squad dispatched in the next twelve hours; I want NightStalkers to be that squad."

Jakireth shot forward, "Twelve hours, sir? Even emergency teams get twenty-four, and I'm working with three people here, myself included."

"Five," Rizzit interjected as he scanned a stack of papers littering his desk, "They were brought in this morning."

"You want me to run off with five soldiers, two of which I don't even know, and do so by tomorrow afternoon."

Rizzit nodded patiently, watching with amusement as his guest shook off the forgotten need to sleep.

"My apologies, Jak, but that's the best I could do. The trip to your destination will be unusually long, so I need you out early." He stopped, holding up a hand as to silence his comrade, "Now, onto mission parameters. Two weeks ago our intelligence reports from within the Rebel sector struck gold. Apparently, they've been recruiting a team of pure-bread scientists for work on a deep space-station. This work includes a new IDM, or Ion Defense Matrix. It's a new breed of shielding technology which disrupts all projectiles weapons within a large radius, and with each pulse. Keep in mind that these pulses occur every tenth of a second, much faster than the speed of any non-particle beam."

"So...the Empire wants this for themselves?"

"Naturally. But that isn't the main problem. Attached to this report was a damage assessment of the station in question. It was assaulted by an unknown faction and ravaged severely. Not only can we not afford to let some rogue sector gain access to new technology, but raising it on the black market would create a whole new type of warfare. Something we cannot adapt to at this point."

Jakireth nodded, understanding now, "So you want the information contained, and brought back with others who are aware eliminated."

"Quite simply, yes."

"And why exactly do you need my squad, sir?"

"NS is equipped and trained for the use of self-driven propulsion units, and the damage done by the station's enemy to gain entry was wretched enough to destroy internal support. Navigation within the unit without jetpacks would be impossible."

"Alright, sounds easy enough."

Rizzit laughed, "Why is it that that's your answer to everything?"

"I'm an optimistic person."

"Good, I want you to go reflect on the positive qualities of getting a five-hour nights sleep, and meet me in the briefing room at 0700 with your team."

"Will do."

With that, he stood and spun professionally on his heels, heading for the door. The intense darkness outside the only thing reminding him that there was anything but a job to be done.

Kantar approached Seargent Jakireth as he exited the Major's office.

"Excuse me, Seargent, but I am looking for Seargent Jakireth, do you happen to know where I can find him?"

Private First Class AlanRJ arrived at the barracks.  He had risen through the training quicker than what he had anticipated and was looking forward to some active duty.  He had been told that he was to join the NightStalkers squad.  He had never heard much about them but he prayed that he was not going to spend his days pulling guard detail on some back water defence satellite.

En-route to the barracks PFC AlanRJ had gone to purchase his own personal weapon.  Although the Empire had provided him with a powerful Blaster Rifle, Alan felt naked without his own personal form of protection.  He browsed the shops until he finally spotted what he was after, a DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistol.  "A fine weapon" the shop keeper mentioned.  "The finest ever constructed" commented Alan as he held the weapon, "I'll take it".  The shopkeeper smiles and said "That will be 750 Imperial Credits".  PFC AlanRJ handed over the money gladly, thinking to himself he would have paid a lot more for it if he needed to but he wasn't going to tell the shopkeeper that .

PFC AlanRJ looked over his orders again, he had been ordered to report to Sergeant Jakireth.  He had never met the fellow in person but had heard some good reports about him and was looking forward to being within his squad.

AlanRJ looked at his watch "midnight" he muttered to himself, "I can't go waking up the sergeant at this ungodly hour, perhaps I'll wander through the corridors and get to know my way around".  Walking through the corridors he noticed a soldier asking for Sergeant Jakireth.  Great he thought, I'll just listen in to find out if this Sergeant is indeed awake and tag along

Little did he know that the man he was looking at was Sergeant Jakireth himself.

Jayson comes upon three men, two talking one standing off from the other two. " wonder if any of them is Sergent  Jakireth," He says to himself. Jayson decides to approach the lone man. He takes a deep breath that causes him to inhale a bug, now coughing and chocking he looks up to see all three men looking at him. With a embarrassed grin " hi " he says.

"May I ask why the lot of you are staring at me?" Jakireth questioned, scanning the bunch of three Privates in front of him.

"Hi." One said sheepishly, adding a forced grin.

The Sergeant nodded slowly, "Indeed."

Dropping his gaze to the beige-colored files in his hands, Jakireth smiled.

"PFCs, Alan, Kantar and Jayson. All reporting for duty. I must say, Gents, this is quite admirable. Excuse me if my excitement is lacking, though, it's horribly late."

Kantar stepped forward, offering an explanation:

"Sorry, sir, but we all wanted to receive orders before morning. When we arrived earlier, processing and check-in to the barracks was quite lengthy, this is the only time available."

"Very nice, Private," Jakireth retorted, "Might I remind you it is morning?"

Kantar made an attempt at a blush and faded back into the three-man line.

"Now, on that note..." He continued, eyeing his watch, "You should all get some rest. You won't have much time for it, I guarantee that, so go ahead and get acquainted with your bunks for a few hours."

It was Alan who spoke this time, clearing his throat, "Sir...not much time?"

"Good ears, Private. Nice to know the General up at Basic Training is sending me the bright ones. We have a mission, Alan, report to the briefing room at seven."

Before he could be barraged with more questions, the Sergeant took off at a respectable speed, although avoiding the ambition to run.

PFC Alan watched Sergeant Jakireth rush off muttering sarcastically under his breath "seven in the morning, just perfect".

Kantar looked over at him, "Did you say something?"

Alan looked at Kantar and shook his head as he headed off to his bunk wishing he had several hours of sleep to look forward to rather than only a few.  Arriving at his bunk, he reached behind his back and pulled out his weapon from a concealed holster.  Tucking the weapon under his pillow he collapsed on the bed.  No need to get changed he thought as he lay there pondering on what the mission would be and how many enemies he would get to gun down.

Alan tossed and turned in his bunk, in his mind he pictured his parents, so happy, so full of life.  He watched the man running towards them, the weapon raised, the flashes of blaster fire.  "No" he whimpered.  He could feel the pain in his face, he could see their lifeless bodies so clearly.  A loud noise shattered the silence and Alan jumped up, grabbing his blaster and pointing it towards the source of the noise, sweat running down his face.  "Damn alarm" he growled as he slammed his fist down on it stopping it immediately.

Alan twirled his blaster in his hand and stored it in his holster before walking over to the basin.  He splashed some cold water over his face.  Looking in the mirror, his hand traced the scar on his cheek as he thought back to that painful memory.  Looking down at his watch he checked the time.  Nearly time for the briefing he noticed.  He left his bunk and headed straight for the briefing room.

Entering the briefing room, he sat down at the nearest seat and lounged back, waiting to see what the mission would be and hoping it was going to be good.

It was late, or early Zhen had lost track of time. Zhen's shift had ended a few hours ago, but heading back to base then would have been a waste.

Heading strait for the cantina he had spent those hours getting highly Intoxicated, and playing Sabbac. Now the morning his luck had been good, but knew he had better head back to base before he was found AWOL.

Struggling to his feet and grabbing the last of his rum and ale, No use in it going to waste, he thought it might be awhile before he manged another trip to the cantina. Well I am off to a good start, first day after training and my blood alchol level has reached a new high, it was a strange pointless thought but served to cheer Zhen up from the fact that he had guard duty againe tommorrow.

Stumbling down the hall to his bunk a loud noise like a alarm made a beeping sound nearby. "Son of a hut," not an intelligent saying but it served its purpose as Zhen surprised and Unable to keep his balance hit the ground. Laying on the floor, the rum and ale surprisingly not shattered Zhen need a place to put them. The ale was rolling down the hall and Zhen was to tired to go after it, so he continued on to his bunk.

Once there he put the rum in his pack and finaley found out what the beeping sound was. His datapad had received a message to report to briefing room 2 A, his squad was to go on a mission. Swaying back and forth Zhen made it to briefing Room 2 A, somebody already there, but to tired to talk he collapsed into a chair at the back of the room.

Kantar slightly smiled as he watched AlanRJ walk off towards the barracks, thinking to himslef, He hasn't changed a bit since basic.

Kantar looked over at Jayson, "Well, you heard the Seargent, we should all go get some rest for tomorrow, I'm beginning to think that this won't be an ordinary walk in the park."  With that Kantar started to head towards the barracks.  When he got there, he noticed Alan already asleep, then grabbed his case with his personal equipment and moved it out of the way in case they had to leave in a hurry.

Having finished with everything he needed to do, Kantar climbed into his bunk and slept for a few hours, waking up at 0615, Kantar prepped his uniform, and took a shower, as he got out of the shower, he heard the alarm go off, Kantar got ready quickly, and proceeded to the briefing room.

Seeing that only two others had arrived before him, Kantar didn't feel too bad, he recognized Alan immediately, and couldnt help but smell the alcohol smell wafting from the other one in the room.

Taking a seat next to Alan, Kantar leans over and whispers, "Who would have thought we would end up on the same squad out of basic, eh?"
"Also, can you believe that guy over there, who in their right mind shows up to an important briefing drunk?"

Lounging back in his chair, Alan sat in the briefing room waiting for the others to arrive.  He didn't have to wait long before the doors opened.  Immediately his nostrils were assaulted by the sweet smell of alcohol.  He looked over to see Zhen stagger in and collapse into a chair.  At least he made it into a chair thought Alan.  Looking at Zhen he wondered what made a trooper drink so heavily and why he had drunk so much prior to a new mission.  Alan had often thought of drowning out his troubles and he had done so before but now he knew where the line was and he tried very hard never to cross it again.

Shortly after Zhen's arrival, Alan noticed Kantar walk in.  Alan had remembered Kantar from basic training.  They had both gone through the same basic training very quickly and it was nice to see a familiar face in the squad.  Kantar sat down next to Alan.  "I never thought we'd be serving on the same squad Kantar but it's nice to see you again" said Alan.  Kantar smiled and they both looked over at Zhen.  "I don't know why he's shown up here drunk but I hope he's not going to watch my six in a fire fight" commented Alan, "I don't want my ass shot off by some drunkard".

They all sat in the briefing room, waiting for the rest of the Nighstalkers squad to arrive and also for Sergeant Jakireth to enter and brief them as to what the mission was.  Alan fidgeted with his hands, he hated waiting, he wanted to know what the mission was and for it to start.  Looking over at Kantar, Alan asked "Have you heard anything about what the mission is?"  Kantar shook his head.

Zhen looked around the room at his two comrades taking stock of them. They were new that much was plain but he was probably greener still. Finley sobering up and realizing the smell wafting from him, he exited the briefing hall for a moment.
Going to the vending machine he got some coffee, and looking both ways put on some spray on DO to cover the Alchol smell. He had eaten these pill's earlier to make sure he did'nt get a hangover (or so he hope). Well he had made a bad first impression with some of the troopers but hopefully he'd do better with the sarge. Walking back to the briefing room Zhen straitened up and entered, glad to see more people had not arrived. Since the rest of squad had not arrived Zhen felt compelled to introduce himself. Walking over to the two privates he stuck out his hand. Hey my names Zhen, and from the looks of it I'll be in your squad, sorry about the smell earlier but I didn't know we'd be going on a mission so soon and did'nt have time to shower.

Kantar eyed Zhen momentarily, never breaking his gaze into Zhen's eyes.
"You'll have to forgive me, If i don't shake hands."(Kudos to anyone who knows what movie that line is from :P)

Alan immediately spoke up,"Sorry, I'll have to apologize for Kantar, he can be a little harsh and take a bit to get used to, but all in all, he's an excellent trooper", Alan shook Zhen's hand, "The name's Alan."
Kantar spoke up, "Yes, its good we are in the same squad, but I hope you're not like this all the time, I don't want a alcoholic lush watching my back in an ambush.  But, enough of that, I wonder where the rest of the squad is, it's almost time for the briefing."

Lion Heart woke with a start. His datapad was faintly beeping on the side of his bed. Activating it, it told him that he'd been assigned to Nightstalkers squad, and that there is a briefing planned at 0700. Checking the time, Anji found it to be 0630. Taking his time, Anji cleaned up, smoothed hair that stood up, and got into his Stormtrooper uniform. It was still hard for him to do so. The set of armor given to him was in the largest size they came in. But Anji was still on the bulkier side compared to normal stormtroopers, even common wookies. When he was ready, Anji grabbed his shiny new helmet, tucked it under his left arm, and took his standard E-11 blaster rifle in the other, then left for the briefing room.

As he steps into the lift, a voice calls from behind, "Hold please." They didn't exchange any words in the lift, but once they were out, Anji found it funny that the other was heading in the same direction he was. What's more surprising was when Anji held the door, the Stormtrooper slid in past Anji's massive arms and walked up to the podium to prepare things. I wonder if he has anything to do with Sergeant Jackireth. Taking a seat near the front of the room, next to the podium, Anji waited quietly for the briefing.

Christina lay asleep on her bunk, not dreaming of anything. She rolled over and almost fell off the bunk, awakening to the sound of her comm-link, as well as almost falling off the bed. She sat up slowly, the beeping from the com-link awakening her slowly. She grabbed it from beside the bed and clicked it on, pushing her long blonde hair away from her face and listening to what the message had to say.

"Hello, Lance Corperal Deneke." Came the voice of Major Rizzit. She had only heard the man speak a few times, and had never met him in person. "I think you will be very pleased to know that you have been re-added to Nightstalkers. Hopefully you enjoyed your leave of absence, but now its time for you to get back to work."

Tina let out a muffled laugh of joy. She had been on indefinate leave for a while and was glad to hear that she was going to be back in Nightstalkers. She had let the command know that she was ready to come back, and was just hearing back from them now.

"Now, here is the bad news..." Rizzit said with a slight pause, before the message continued to speak. "You have a mission this morning, and by the time you get this, you`ll have maybe an hour to arrive at breifing room 2 A. Don`t be late." He ordered as the message ended. Chrstina checked the chrono near her bunk. 0600, I`ve still got time... She though to herself. She hopped out of bed and made her way to the refresher, planning to take a quick shower, and then get to the mess hall for some breakfast before everything began.

After showering, she got dressed quickly and threw her hair back into a loose ponytail before heading out of the room, merrily making her way to the mess haul for a quick breakfast. Along the way she couldn`t help but feel good to be back on duty again. Truth be told, she had missed Merrick and Jak and all the others, but imagined that the squad would have changed a bit since she left.

As she arrived at the grey double doors that lead into the mess hall, the opened ahead of her and she stepped in, quickly looking for the line for food. Grabbing a tray and heading over to it, she was thankful it was short. Ahead of her she could see the usual foods found in the hall, ceral, oatmeal, various fruits, and of course, everyones favorite, the unknown 'glop'. The 'glop' was a sticky grey substance which lacked falvor, but produced an undesirable oder. It was very filling, she couldn`t deny, but she`d much rather have to eat more decent food then one bite of that filth.

She grabbed an apple and some other fruit she didn`t recognize and made her way to a table. She took a seat next to a well built man who only nodded to acknowledge her presence, then continued his breakfast. She bit into the apple with a loud crunch, to which the man looked down at her again.

"Sorry..." She said quietly, then took another bite, which was just as loud as the last. Her cheeks welling up with a little bit of red, she just looked down and grabbed another chunk of fruit in her empty hand and stood up to leave. The man didn`t object, so she made her way to the doors.

Well, at least I`ll be on time. She thought to herself as she walked down the hallway, now enjoying her crunchy apple and whatever the other peice of fruit was, which was surprisingly sweet. When she finished, she tossed her apple core in the nearest garbage can and rounded the final corner which would lead her to her destination.

Ahead of her she could see the doors for room 2 A, and she was about to hit the access when she stopped. What if things have changed to much? What if I don`t know anyone, what if everyone I remember is gone? She thought to herself fearfully as her hand hovered above the access. Well...Here goes... She thought as she hit the button and the door slid open.

She stepped in and was surprised by the sight. Ahead of her were four other beings, already seated. She didn`t recognize anyone and was worried that she had either entered the wrong room, or was late for her breifing.

"I`m not late am I?" She asked to no one in general as she took a seat nearest the door, incase a quick escape was needed from the group she had discovered. "This is Nightstalkers, right?"

"Yeah, you`re not late, and this is NS." One of the males replied, although he sounded a little drunk, with slightly slurred speech.

"Alright..." She said nervously, sitting back in the chair and crossing her arms, praying that someone she knew was just not here yet.

Christina sat uneasily in her seat. This was nothing like the NS squad she had been a part of. Leon and Merrick where no where in site, and neither was Jak. Just as she came to the end of her thought, the door across the room slid open and Jakireth entered, followed by Rizzit.

"Jak!" Christina half yelled with happiness at seeing at least one person she remembered. Jak took a step backwards as she said his name, almost causing Rizzit to run into his back.

"Miss Deneke, when did you get here?" He asked as he made his way up towards the podium at the front of the room.

"She was re-assigned back to NS." Rizzit explained before Tina could say anything, and Jak nodded.

"Good to have you back." He said to her before turning to face the small group of troopers and clearing his throat. "Welcome men and lady of Nightstalkers. As I`m sure you all know, we have been assigned to a mission, and it is something aside from guard duty."

With his final sentance a few meager laughs arose from the crowd, Christina remaining silent. Jak raised one hand to make sure the group understood that he was going to start talking again.

"Now, we will be headed to a New Republic deep-space station, Isis, Which has been a spearhead for the development of a new technology, IDM, Or Ion Defense Matrix. It's a new breed of shielding technology which disrupts all projectiles weapons within a large radius, and with each pulse. Keep in mind that these pulses occur every tenth of a second, much faster than the speed of any non-particle beam." Jak explained, the screen behind him breifly showing a picture of the station.

"Now, just recently, this station was attacked by a faction which we are yet to learn the name of. It has been badly damaged, and reports indicate numerous deaths on the Republic's side. Due to the damage caused by the rogue faction, we will have to use Jetpacks to get around the station." Jak explained, a picture of one of the Jetpacks used by Nightstalkers showing up and slowly rotating in the background.

"Our objective will be to bring this technology back with us, and eliminate all records of its existence from the station. Whether this is intellectual or physical records, it does not matter. We can expect to come up against the remaining rebel troops, as well as the possibility of the rogue faction returning to try and steal the technolodgy. What we can fully expect is unknown, so I suggest being prepared." Jak said, seeming to wrap things up. He looked back at Rizzit as if to ask if he had forgotten anything, and Rizzit nodded, satisfied. "That is all. I suggest you all go and prepare your things, we leave in 2 hours. Dismissed."

With that, Jak stepped down from the podium and shook hands with Rizzit, then headed off to greet his team. He approached Christina first.

"Its good to see you back in active duty. Have you been introduced to everyone?" He asked, motioning towards the group of men behind him.

"No actually, I haven't." She replied, slightly nervous. She wasn't always to good with new people, but sometimes if they struck it off right she's be fine. Luckily for her, Jak wasn't going to introduce them right away.

"Ah, well, there will be plenty of time for introductions throughout the trip. You might as well go and pack your stuff, I'll see you in the hanger in an hour and a half." He told her. Christina nodded and saluted. Jak returned the salute and then Christina turned and headed out the door of the briefing room, making her way back to her room.

"Ah, back on duty..." She said to herself as she opened the door to her room, which was neatly kept and for the most part clean. There were a pair of dirty jeans lying on the floor, but other then that it's was spotless. She made her way over to the closet and swung the door open, grabbing a mid-sized duffle bag and throwing a few necessary items in it. Blaster rifle, comm-link, datapad, and some food for the trip.

Hmmmmm.... She thought to herself as she looked at the time. I`ve got an hour and 15 minutes to kill, what should I do.... She thought, looking around the room for something to keep her entertained. Nothing...

With a shrug, she grabbed hold of her duffle bag and exited the room. Everything else they would need would be aboard the shuttle already, for them to change into while in transit. Making her way down the hallways, humming quietly to herself, she found the hanger they were supposed to be meeting in soon. The shuttle was still being prepped off to the side of the large room, and Tina made her way over to it.

"Hello, can I do something for you miss?" One of the techs asked with a cocky grin as he made his way over. Oh, wonderful... Tina thought to herself, rolling her eyes as the tech approached. "Lost?" He asked.

"No actually, I`m just wondering if I can toss my bag aboard the shuttle We don't leave yet, but I figured if I put it there now I won't forget later." She said in a no-nonsense tone. The man looked a little surprised for a moment, but quickly regained his sense of smooth and continued.

"You can't be a trooper, you're way to good looking." He replied, moving to her side and attempting to put his hand on her shoulder. She slapped it away and turned to him.

"I'll show you my ID if I want. I was just wondering if I can put my supplies on the ship." She told him, slightly annoyed with him. He looked a little bit hurt, but then nodded and got back to work, grumbling something about uptight people. She sighed quietly and made her way up the ramp, tossing her bag towards one of the seats and then exiting the shuttle. What to do now...

Ion Defense Matrix sounds dubious and complicated.   Thinking about all the wonderful uses it had and how it could help the Empire and it's people Zhen wondered down to his room.

Then his thoughts began to shift his other squad members, he liked Alan and the Wookie, the women was beautiful but she looked like she could hold here own in combat. The only one he had problems with was that Kantar, how can Zhen put his life in the hands of a man who wouldn't shake his hand. Further the man seemed to have something against alcohol.

While Zhen loved to drink he knew the time and the place, and could be counted on in a fire fight. Gangs had taught him to fight with little more than his hands and the Academy had taught him to shoot well enough to be brutal and efficient.

Entering his room Zhen found pack were he left it, he hadn't even unpacked so there was no need to spend time doing that. After a short shower Zhen sat down on his bed and quickly grew bored and lacking anything else to do grabbed his stuff and started for the ship.

Arriving at the hanger just as the female Nightstalker left he smiled hoping she would not mistake it for anything more than a greeting, because from the way she walked she could probably hurt him real bad in a fight. He might win but then he'd have at least a few broken bones.

Zhen entered the hanger and headed toward the vessel they would be using. Zhen asked the near by tech if he could go onboard, the tech said something about up tight people and him needing leave while he waved Zhen in.

Seeing a bag under the nearest seats, he put his across from it so he would be one of the first two off the vessel when it landed. Securing his bag he sat down, nothing else to do until it was time to go maybe he'd get some sleep.

Kantar stood up after the briefing was completed looking at Alan and Lion Heart, "Well Gents, it's game time, see you both at departure time."

Leaving the briefing room, Kantar went back to the barracks, putting on his 210 Personal Armor, which he personally modified to be more compatible with the Storm Commando Armor, the traditional white color, replaced with a deep black, since Kantar prefers to work unseen, grabbing his rifle case, containing his recently purchased DC-17E Interchangable Combat System, the ultimate in combat flexibility, even though Kantar usually prefers ranged combat.

Gathering up all the rest of the gear he would need for the mission, he began to toy with his rifle, making sure everything was smooth, and there were no kinks.

Moments later, Alan walked back into the barracks, with a somewhat worried look on his face.  Kantar immediately noticed the look of concern on his friends face,"Alan, is something bothering you boss?

Alan heard the doors of the briefing room open, finally, we will find out what this mission is all about.  Instead of seeing Sergeant Jakireth, a beautiful woman strode in.  I am not that lucky Alan thought.  He was even more surprised when he found out that she was indeed a member of Nightstalkers.  His eyes lingered up and down her body a little too long.  I will have to introduce myself later thought Alan.

His attention on her was short lived as in walked Sergeant Jakireth.  Alan listened carefully to the mission briefing, his face creased slightly in concern as he heard the details laid out before him.  This is not good thought Alan not good at all.  As the briefing came to a close, Alan got up and headed straight to the barracks.

Entering the barrack, Alan came across Kentar who asked Alan if everything was alright.  Alan looked at him closely and said "This stinks Kantar, something about this mission is just rubbing me up the wrong way".

"What do you mean?" quizzed Kantar.

"Think about it" replied Alan "The Republic builds a whole new technology, and then their research station gets attacked by whom, we don't know.  They attack it to such a degree that the station is heavily damaged, so damaged that we have to go in by thruster packs and yet they fail to take the technology, why?  Something about this just doesn't add up.  Watch your back out there, and watch mine too".

Kantar looked at him with a concerned look "will do boss".  Kantar left thinking Alan was looking too much into the mission and yet what he had said nagged him slightly.

Alan packed up his gear, making sure he had both his blaster and his standard issue rifle before heading down to the shuttle.  Throwing his gear into the hold, Alan peeked into the shuttle to see Zhen had already arrived and it looked like he might even be asleep.  Looking around, Alan spotted Christine, she looked like she was unsure of what to do with herself.  Alan headed over to her and offered her his hand "Hi" said Alan "I'm PFC Alan, do you want to go get a coffee or something, it's going to be awhile before we depart?"

Tina had been standing near the ramp of the shuttle, wondering what, if anything, she could do to pass the time faster. Just as she was about to give up and simply sit and wait, one of the other Nightstalkers approached her.

"Hi." He said, holding out his hand for her to shake. "I`m I'm PFC Alan, do you want to go get a coffee or something, it's going to be awhile before we depart?" He asked as she shook his hand. Oh, wonderful...First day back and my squad members are already at peak interest.... She thought to herself, a little bit annoyed. Her attitude quickly changed though. Although, I guess it would be good to get to know the people I`m going to be working with....Why not.

"Sure. I`m Christina...Erm, a Lance Corporal." She said, releasing his hand. He nodded and they headed out of the hanger. It took a while to find the cantina from the hanger, but they did find it. They made their way through the thin crowd to a table near the back and were quickly waited on by a thin, blue metallic colored droid.

"Could I get you anything?" It asked in a slightly male sounding voice.

"Yeah, two coffees." Alan said, and the droid nodded then quickly zipped away. Alan was first to speak, and did a good job of breaking the ice between the two Troopers. "So, how long have you been in NS?" He asked her.

"Well....I was here a while ago, when Merrick was still the SL, but I went on leave for a while and I`m just coming back now." She explained, just as the coffee arrived. The droid set the two cups down and left, leaving the two troopers to their conversation.

"How about you?" Tina asked as she took a sip from her coffee and made a slight face, then reached for the sugar.

"I`m fresh out of the acadamy, first mission ever." He said, taking a drink from his own glass. Christina nodded as she watched the sugar flow into her coffee, and then grabbed an individual cream container, opened it and poured it in as well.

"Well, the only mission I`ve been on is the one at the Galatic Games, and I skipped out on most of that. We did do a little training excersise before that, but then the whole squad was different." She told him. It was the only mission she had been on, and it was one that she had disliked. She ended up watching the games more then anything, and kind of ditched the whole group. Not something she normally would have done, but the fact that she had gotten more lost then ditched them was part of the reason.

"Ah, sounds fun..." Alan said, taking another sip from his coffee. After a while had passed and both had talked and finished their coffees, Christina stood up.

"Well, its been about an hour, we should probably get back to the shuttle, it`ll be leaving soon." She said, Making her way up to the counter to pay. Alan followed but had managed to get his credit chip out faster thenshe could.

"Don`t worry about it, I`ll cover the coffee." He said, handing the chip to the droid at the counter.

"Thats really not nessicary..." Tina said, still getting her wallet out. It was too late though, the droid had already transferred the credits and was handing back the chip to Alan.

"No, its alright..." Alan said, putting the chip back in his pocket andmaking his way towards the door.

*** A few Minutes later ***

The two arrived back at the shuttle to see most of the squad borded and waiting, save for them. They were still on time though, and made their way aboard. Jak was waiting up near the front of the shuttle, talking with the pilot. The rest of the recruits were seated near the entrance ramp of the shuttle. Christina made her way over to the seat with her bag under it and sat down, Alan taking a seat next to her, which she didn`t have much of a problem with. The guy seemed decent, but how they got along on the battlefield is what would matter most. At this point in time anyway.

Friendships wre vital within a squad, because if people are fighting back and forth, no one really gets anywhere, and the unit is much less co-ordinated on the field, as well as weaker as a unit. Christina was going to have to become friends with all the members of the Nightstalkers, even the less desirable ones.

Of course, if they were to end up hitting on her or asking her out, things might not go over so well. A friendly cup of coffee was fine, and it wasn`t that she refused to have relations with anyone she worked with. She just didn`t like that kind of stuff.

"Alright, We`re about ready to lift off. Is everyone here?" Jak asked, jolting her back to reality. He was doing a quick head count before sitting down and calling up to the pilot that they were ready to lift off.

Moments later, the engines roared to life and the shuttle lifted off the ground with a slight bump. She could hear the noise of the landing gear rising into the hull of the shuttle before the whole ship pivoted to face the hanger doors. A moment later, she could hear the engines spool up and become louder, pushing the shuttle out of the hanger and towards their target.

OOC: Its kinda bad, I got rushed by my littlest brother...

A loud rumbling sound was the first thing Zhen heard waking up to the shuttle already in motion. His head felt ok and Zhen was thankful to have no hangover now that the mission was underway.

Zhen began looking around at his squad members, trying to read their faces or body language. They didn't appear to be afraid and that could be a problem especially with most of them being just out of drill being all cocky and trigger happy.

While Zhen was green to the Army he had been in dangerous situations before and fear in moderation was what kept you alive. Too much fear could immobilize you and make you useless and even a danger. He'd seen it before and the after effects were never pretty.

Even so Zhen was pretty confident in his squad, Kantar even if distant was the type who would hold his head during a fight, even while things went to hell all around him. Alan looked competent and could work well with other that was very important. Zhen for some reason really liked the wookie and the only problem there was finding cover in a fight. The corporal  might cause problems, while more experienced then all of them by the look of her, her looks might cause problems  .

Zhen knew he could contain himself, but he didn't know the rest of the squad well enough to know about them. Kantar probably could, Alan Zhen had no idea about and wookies can be devilishly charming when they want to be,

All that said Zhen himself was nervous, something about his mission did not sit well with him. It was probably nothing, this was Zhen's first mission and his only experience with stuff like this was to different to give him any instincts on the matter.

The sarge was a mystery to Zhen, Snipes had mentioned him a few times, but Zhen could never really remember his conversations with Snipes for some reason. A big question for Zhen was who was ASL? If the Sergeant was put out of commission who would assume command, who would give the orders? The women was a Corporal so probably her, that was a good thing to. Nobody listens to a drunk and the rest were just out of basic,

Zhen sat thinking like this for an hour or so waiting until they the mission would reach it's peak, the time when the gloves come off and battle begins. Suddenly a thought came to Zhen which might cause some trouble for him, he had gotten 71% in the Jetpack course, enough to pass but not to be terribly efficient.

OOC: I did not meaning to come of as sexiest ass in this post. I just added the part of look's causeing problems cause the tech in Christina's story hit on her. Ya so sorry if offends was not  my intention.

Alan had enjoyed his time with Tina.  She was a very stunning woman and a great person to get to know.  He had gazed on her beauty throughout the whole time and he knew that he was going to try to get to know her a lot better.  They had chatted all the way back to the shuttle.

Arriving at the shuttle, Alan graciously let Tina board first.  Following her in, he sat down next to her, nodding to Kantar on the way in.  The engines roared to life and Alan noticed Zhen waking up God I hope he's not carrying any alcohol with him thought Alan that's all we need on this mission, him flying around on a jetpack whilst drunk.

Alan looked around at his fellow squad members, he didn't trust Zhen, and he was more worried about Zhen than the rest of the mission.  Then there was Kandar, he trusted Kandar, they had both gone through the same basic training and he knew he could rely on him.  He looked over at Lion Heart, he had never fought alongside a wookie before and he was looking forward to it, he knew that having a wookie along was going to be a great benefit.  Then there was Tina, he smiled as he looked over at her, he was definitely looking forward to working with her.

Alan was looking forward to the mission and more importantly to be able to kill some rebel scum, actually, more like killing loads of rebel scum, he smiled to himself as he thought about it.  The one thing he was not looking forward to was going around on a jetpack, he preferred to have his feet firmly secured on the ground or on the deck of a shuttle.

"Well, here we go" said Alan

Tina looked over and smiled slightly, then turned her attention back to the viewport.  Alan looked through it as well to see the stars rushing past as they headed off on their mission.

Kantar was still fiddling around with his rifle, still making sure that everything attached and detached smoothly, he didn't want any slips up causing his efficiency to decrease.  Once satisfied that everything was fine with his rifle, he slung it over his back, and began to check the systems on his suit.  Kantar clenched his hands into fists, activating the release on the built in wrist vibroblades, which popped out with a loud metallic scraping noise, which caused the other to jump slightly.

"Sorry, just making everything on this suit is working fine, don't want any problems you know."

After saying that, he proceeded to push the blades back into his suit, locking them firmly in place.

Looking up at Lion Heart, Kantar spoke again.  "I'll tell you guys, if there's anything that makes me more confident that we will be fine more than the fact that Alan is here, is Lion Heart's presence. Trust me, I've been on the wrong side of a pissed off Wookie many times, its about time i had a Wookie on my side for once."

While most of the squad seemed bothered by being pushed into a mission just after arriving, Kantar almost seemed like he was looking forward to it.

"This is a great feeling, i haven't felt this excited since my time on the Outer Rim of the Galaxy, interesting times those were", Kantar said with a smile.

Hmmmm, makes me wonder if I`m the only sane person in this squad... Christina thought to herself as she watched the blades pop out from Kantar`s armour. Well....I guess I don`t know them all yet. She reminded herself, settling back into the slightly uncomfortorable seat.

She found herself placed in what she felt to be a slightly miss-matched squad. A wookie, a drinker, someone with vibroblades in the wrists of their armour, Alan, herself, and Jak. It made her wonder if perhaps NS was becoming an outcast squad for members which might not work to well in a different squad. I wonder how they will do with the jetpacks...Oh no, jetpacks! Tina thought to herself.

She could hardly remember how to use the jetpacks, and was yet to use one during a mission. It would be a whole new experiance for her, one which she was not sure she would be ready for, esspecialy if they had to fight opponents while using them.

The drone of the ships engines could be heard throughout the compartment, and it was slowly lulling Tina to sleep. Perhaps falling asleep amounsgt this crowd wouldn`t be the the wisest choice, but I`d rather be full rested for the mission. She thought to herself.

She was having difficulty falling asleep though, because the other recruits were being somewhat noisy and talking alot.

"So how many kills do you think you`ll get Alan?" Kantar asked, polishing up a spot on his armour where the gleem had faded from the rest of the suit. The whole group was now in their armour, and although slightly uncomfortorable, it ment that they could be off on their mission right away.

"I`m not sure, hopefully some, and hopefully not allow those rebels to get any kills on us." Alan replied, fidgeting with some of the foam on the inside of his helmet. That was the one piece of equiptment the troopers were yet to dawn, their helmets. Without thinking about it, Tina looked over her helmet. The shiny white piece of artwork she held in her hands was just that, incredible. How they fit so much stuff in there... She thought absentmindedly as the conversation continued. "How about you?" Alan asked Kantar back.

"I`m not sure either....I guess some would be good..." He replied, and Tina smiled a little bit. It was good to see that nobody appeared to be overly cocky, thinking they were going to get a hundred kills their first mission out. That alone could prove to help save them and keep them safe while on the battlefield.

"How about you?" Alan asked, turning to Tina. She didn`t reply right away, thinking about her answer. She knew she probably wouldn`t get many kills, but would at least find a way to be of help to the other troops.

"Well...I wouldn`t mind getting my first." She replied, feeling a little sheepish. Being given the rank of Lance Corperal without a single kill to her name had pleased her at first, and although she was still proud of it, felt that she might recieve mocking from these men.

"You havn`t gotten a kill yet?" Alan replied, sounding a little bit surprised but managing to keep a straight face about it. Tina nodded, then looked down at her knees, because she couldn`t see her feet at that moment. "Well, thats nothing to be ashamed of. Not everyone racks up huge kill counts...Some do, but others find different way to contribute to a cause. Maybe you`re the latter, one who finds other ways to contribute." He assured her, and she looked up again.

"I suppose so..." She replied her voice remaining a little down but had picked up from the tone had been a moment before.

Looking out at the stars rushing past the view port, Alan's concentration was suddenly interrupted by a loud scraping noise.  Looking over he saw Kantar blush and apologise and tuck in his blades back into his armour.  Alan smiled as he watched the scene.

The squad talked amongst themselves and the conversation had moved onto kill counts.  Alan was looking forward to killing some rebel scum but he was a realist so when asked the question he had said a few, more importantly not letting any of his squad mates die.

When Tina was asked the question, Alan was shocked to hear that she had no kills whatsoever.  Alan knew that he did not have any official kill counts for the Empire but he was a new squad member fresh out of training, Tina on the other hand was a Lance Corporal within the Empire.  Alan pondered I wonder how she got the rank of Lance Corporal within the Army without making a single kill.

Alan noticed that Tina looked a little upset at this and so he tried to re-assure her that he was she would make up her contribution to the mission and maybe even get her first kill along with the rest of the squad.  Alan knew that Lion Heart would get a kill and he was pretty sure Kantar would as well, Zhen, well, who knew on that one.

Alan looked over at Tina and queried "So, who do you think has been attacking the Rebels?"

Tina pondered for a moment "Pirates I guess, but it could be anyone"

Kantar chirped up "Maybe it's the Hutts, I can't imagine how much they would get if they auctioned off that type of technology, who do you think it is?"

Alan thought about it before saying "I honestly don't know, but I'm looking forward to finding out"

She's had no kill, which was a surprise to Zhen. While he'd not had any kills in the army, he did have at least a few notches on his knife from home.

Zhen had been pleasantly surprised by the fact they had not been too cocky about how many kills they would have. He'd been looking forward to this, a chance to kill some one for a cause. Zhen did not care who he killed for, or for what cause, but his killing did have to have some purpose or justification not senseless murder.

Regardless of her kill ratio Zhen respected her, I mean, you don't make corporal having not a single kill, without being good at something.

Listening to their background conversations Zhen was suddenly interested when he heard the corporal say "Pirates I guess, but it could be anyone." Pirates, the MO of the  only he could remember what he'd said.

Their conversions drifted again becoming less interesting and Zhen went back to his quiet thoughts.

OOC: Yes I deleted the last part so you can go on, so I am sorry guys I forgot about Jak, but while we are on the topic. When is Jak coming back to posting here? Ya, sorry againe I was at (am) school when I posted and was not paying attention.
