Darr-Rann sighed with relief as he pressed the "send" button on his datapad. It had taken him hours to complete this latest report, the squad report, and even longer to get all of the information organized. In addition, he had to get rid of four of his squad members. Otto Vox had decided to go back to the reserves, and Drask, T1234, and Matthew all went AWOL, running of somewhere without being granted leave from their commanders. It was a disappointing report to give, but at least the remaining Raiders were doing well.

He started to get up from his desk when there was a knock on the door. Sighing, he sat down again and said "Come on in.", thinking it was another imperial officer enquiring about some form or report he had missed. It wasnt though. Darr-Rann grinned as Rizzit, the company commander, walked into his office.

"So, how have you enjoyed being a squad leader so far?" Rizzit asked, sitting down in the chair in front of the desk, his eyes scanning the various papers and datapads cluttering the desk.

"I didnt think it was possible to have more paperwork then I had as ASL. Clearly I was wrong." He said, beginning to sort everything into piles. Rizzit grinned and handed him a datacard

"Not another report..." Darr-Rann groaned, loading it into his Datapad. The words "Thass moon factory" titled the document.

"Not exactly. Its your first mission." Rizzit said as Darr-Rann read the file. Reports on production, schematics, defences; The document had a wealth of information on some small moon factory Darr-Rann had never heard of. One thing was strange though - it had an extreamly small amount of production, a few speeders and service droids.

"This factory isnt very productive, considering they put in so much... How are they making this much money...?" Darr-Rann said. "It seems like their losing a lot of money."

Rizzit grinned. "War droids. This factory is used to produce war droids. You should be familiar with them - you fought some of them in New Brinne." Darr-Rann nodded.

"So, you want us to take out this factory?" Darr-Rann asked, putting the datapad down. "This'll be good for the troops, a bit of revenge" he thought to himself.

"Yes, but its a bit more complicated then that. First you'll need to disable the moon's shield. To do this you'll have to go out into space in the Zero-G armor and set charges on it's generator. Then you'll have to land and go through Radiation-rich zones, setting charges on the three main reactors of the factory. I simultaneous blast should be enough to cause a reaction of a scale that would destroy the factory, which covers the entire moon.

"Interesting..." Darr-Rann said. "I'll assemble the troops."

A short post, sorry. Everyone, start making your pre-flight posts.

It was eight o'clock at night, and Aphamos had just finished up his target practice session in the simulation room with a few squad members.  His muscles were aching; as a matter of fact, his entire body was aching, and he needed some rest.  He had been training all week, and hadn't had much time to do do anything else.  He needed some time alone with himself.  And what better place for well spent time than a cantina .  Darr-Rann had told him that there was one nearby that he could get to in a matter of minutes.  "Best ale in the galaxy," as he had put it.  Aphamos exited the training facility and saw a StarSpeeder at its stop.

"Hey, wait up!" he yelled, sprinting towards the droid automated vehicle.  He entered the speeder, handed the pilot, an FX droid, the required amount of credits.

"Your stop, please?" asked the droid, in his high pitched, mechanical voice.

"The nearest cantina," answered Aphamos.

"Thank you, please," responded the droid.

Aphamos searched the speeder and made his way to an open seat.  Comfortable .  He leaned back on his seat and closed his eyes for a moment.  Now this is more like it . He tried to relax, but he couldn't stop thinking about his training and his position with the squad.  He wanted success.  he needed success.  He not only had something to prove to the squad, he had something to prove to himself.  "Ah, give it a rest," he muttered to himself.  He needed to clear his mind of things, to go away from the real.

Suddenly, the speeder came to an abrupt halt.  Aphamos's head shot forward and collided with the seat in front of him.

"DAMMIT! AT LEAST SLOW DOWN, YOU STUPID PIECE OF TRASH!" he shouted.

"The cantina, please," said the droid.  Aphamos got up out of his seat and headed towards the exit of the speeder, making sure to slare at the droid pilot.

"Sorry, please," added the droid.  This didn't change Aphamos's attitude towards the droid, and he continued glaring at it until he left the vehicle.  The first thing he saw was a very bright, colorfully lighted building.  I think thats the one .  He made his was towards the cantina, hearing the music that filled the building.  He entered, the pungent smell of alcohol slapping him in the face.  He had to wait for a moment to get somewhat used to the environment, and then took a seat

"What would you like?" asked the bartender.  He was a man of medium build, brown hair, dark eyes; eyes of coal.  He had an odd facial expression, a very suspicious smile; almost a smirk.

"Uh, get me a pint of..." said Aphamos.  He had never been to a cantina; he hadn't even had any type of alcohol before.  He needed to think of something though.  A planet, and a drink .  "Yeah, a pint of Correlian...ale," he ordered.  Just then, he heard some yelling to the right of him and turned to see what the problem was.  Probably some political crap .  He turned back to see what the bartender was doing, when he heard the shattering of glass and a dull Thump on the floor in the same area.  He turned and saw one of the men that was arguing on the floor lying in a puddle of blood with small fragments of glass lying all around him.  The man standing above him was stunned.  He had no idea what he had just done, and started to back his way up towards the exit.  Before he could get out, a small police force burst in through the doors.

They quickly restrained the man about to leave, and a medic approached the man lying on the floor, trying to find a pulse.  He pulled out a device to measure the man' s vital signs, and said, "He's...he's dead.  the hit from the glass struck him in the temple, and a piece of glass lodged itself into his scull, piercing his brain.

"I didn't mean it!  PLEASE!  LET GO OF ME!" yelled the man being restrained.  "It was an accident, I didn't know what I was doing!"  He tried as hard as he could to break away, but couldn't.  A police officer approached him and removed something from his belt.  It was a syringe.  He stealthily moved behind the man, and struck the syringe into his neck, quickly injecting the contents.  The moment that the fluid accessed the man's bloodstream, he hit the cold floor, falling face first on the stone.  One of the officers lifted the man onto his back, and another placed the corpse onto a stretcher and cleaned the bloody mess.  They exited the cantina, and for a moment, it was totally silent.  The silence was broken by a brave musician who started up the live performance again.

The chatter slowly followed, and Aphamos finally received his pint.  He swished the brownish goop in the cup, and took a huge whiff of the contents.  He head immediately jolted back and he slammed the cup on the table.  Strong.  Just what I need .  He put the pint to his lips, and took a huge gulp of the of the thick, fragrant liquid.  He  spontaneously spat out the substance, getting it all over the bartender.

"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH! DAMN YOU!  LEAVE NOW!" the bartender screamed, taking the nearest towel and wiping himself off with it.

"Wait, come on, it was an accident!" pleaded Aphamos.

"That's what the last guy said, and he murdered somebody!" OUT,NOW!" bellowed the bartender, his eye color turning to a dark red.  Aphamos, using his sharp skills, could sense that it was time for him to leave.  But not without a mark .  He slammed the credits for his drink onto the table, lifted his cup, and chucked it directly above the bartender's head, it just narrowly missing.  The bartender yelled and lashed out, trying to climb the counter to get to Aphamos.

He finally got over, lifted up a chair, and threw it straight at Aphamos's face.  Aphamos nimbly strafed to the side, the chair missing him.  First rule of training.  If they hit, you hit back.  Harder .  The bartender scrambled to a a man having his drink, punched him in the face, and took his blaster.  Now its getting serious .  Before the bartender could even aim the weapon, Aphamos rolled on the ground towards him.  Upon getting up, Aphamos forcefully shoved his hand into the bartender's neck, and executed a fatal maneuver that he had learned in training. The bartender stood, wide eyed, staring into the distance.  Aphamos removed his hand from the man's neck, and the bartender fell, hitting the floor with an addled Thud .

I..I killed him.  He...  Aphamos stood there at a loss of words.  He got up off the ground, trying to comprehend the magnitude of what he had just done.  No, no.  He attacked first.  It was in self defense.  He would have killed me .  But, oddly enough, Aphamos was not sad of sympathetic toward the dead man at all.  He was happy.  He was proud of himself for what he had done.  He looked around. All eyes in the room were directed to him, the music still playing.

Aphamos left the cantina very quickly, not taking anymore chances.  he walked up to the location the StarSpeeder would be stopping.  He could feel a faint vibrating in his pocket, and stuck his hand in to see what it was.  He pulled out his comlink.  "All Raiders, please report to the briefing room.  Again, all Raiders, please report to the briefing room now," said Darr-Rann through the receiver.  A mission.  Yes, this is it.  Yes, this is my chance.  Perfection.  Perfection.  I need perfection .  He could hear the speeder closing in near him.  He boarded it, gave the credits to the pilot, told him his destination, and sat down at an empty seat, eyes closed.  The StarSpeeder whizzed by into the distance towards the training facility.  Aphamos sat there.  The opportunity was here.  It was in his grasp; he could feel its aura of energy.  Now he had to seize it.

Rogueboy was sitting in his room at his bachelor apartment staring at his DL-44 and his Kylan-3 it was always a tough choice, he sighed than attempted to put both of them in his bag they didn't fit now frustrated he flipped an Imperial Credit catching it he stared at it; the smooth face of Emperor Palpatine stared straight at him seeing right through him, Rogueboy shivered before sticking the coin in his pocket, he put the DL-44 back in its proper case rubbing it affectionately. Rogueboy did a mental assessment on all the requirements for this mission; Zero G armour, Cheech didn't have the funds for it so he rented one from the Imperial Armoury; it was currently on board the transport ship Delta-2. Cheech knew this mission was going to be tough but was determined to see it all the way through no matter what the cost. The mission was "simple" blow up a space station that contains a shield generator for a nearby moon that has power plants and factories, destroy them while fighting off defenders.

Cheech picked up his bag and proceeded towards the exit, the door whooshed open revealing a hallway that led to a flight of stairs Rogueboy turned around looking into his apartment, I hate zero gravity missions he thought to himself saying a silent prayer he closed the door.

Sitting topless against the wall of his apartment, Marka thought and dwelled upon the reminiscent encounter on his last mission, to Cepany. After the meeting with Sert Margaan, quite a few things had changed. Memories had come back, and his father's soul had been identified in the black of the past. The armour, crimson and dark, was a sign of his passion towards life; the red, burning love for his family; the dark a sign of his hatred for his enemies. Enclosed in the Raider's hand was the small Varactyl carving, the one he had given his father on his last mission, coming full circle back to Marka after his death. The way he died was still unknown, though perhaps it was better that way.
Some other things had changed, however. His scar count was up, and a newfound loathing for droids had embedded itself in him. That one shot to his back, though healed, still made him uncomfortable. The following battle had been awkward, and he felt that his performance was poor, even for an injured soldier. Having to go out against more droids was both unnerving and satisfying at once. He wanted revenge, but that mission had been unusually traumatic.

After some more time spent in silence, a message from Darr was received; just a reminder to get ready for the flight. Hopefully this will go better. The newly appointed ASL walked to his room, finding a casual shirt and throwing it over him. Soon he was out the door; bag in hand, ready for another mission. Before long, though, he was stopped by some impatient looking man, dressed in a grey uniform. He looked at Marka, then down at his datapad.

"You that Marka guy? The Raider?" he asked, stopping Marka in the middle of a wide hallway.

"Yes, what do you want?"

"I got a... well... a thing for you. Courtesy of your friend," the man looked down at his datapad again, "Sert Margaan." He motioned for Marka to follow him, and outside they went.
There, caged and asleep, lay a Varactyl, its beautiful green feathers shimmering; a white light underneath the full sun. Deep breaths raised its large chest, the coloured feathers seeming to change with each slight movement. In the right hand corner of the cage was a pile of greens, fresh and new amongst the rotting scattered remains of what was probably the animal's first feed. Old, mouldy vegetables lay about, with unusual bite marks left in them.

"The thing was a bastard to get in there, we had to drug him and lift him in there. All was well until about an hour ago, but then he started getting aggressive again, so we drugged him once more. We're sort of hoping this food will keep him quiet when he wakes up again."

Marka turned to the delivery man, groaning, "Look, I have to get to a meeting. Sort something out. Is there anything else?"

"Uhh... he said... he being Mr. Margaan, that you would understand the significance or something like that, I don't know."

"Right, well, as I said, sort something out. Make sure he has some food, 'cause I probably won't be back for a while."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The trip to his squad was quick, as most journeys are when filled with thought. He wondered, deliberated upon whether or not to keep the bird, and finally decided he should, after all, it was a gift. Thumbing his varactyl carving, Marka knew that Sert had wanted him to have it for a purpose, though it was still clouded. It was obviously another memento of his family, but etched in the back of the young soldier's mind was a feeling that there was something more meant by it. Shaking his head, he continued on to find his squad mates.

RE: Tying up Loose Ends (RAIDERS)
March 18, 2006 5:01:59 PM    View the profile of Darr-Rann
Darr-Rann watched as the cargo crews loaded the Zero-G and Radiation armor onto the Iota-Class transport. The ship had been assigned to them for this mission due to the need for quick deployment into space through airlocks, and they had no ship of their own. Loud clanging filled the hanger as they dropped one of the durasteel containers, followed by a series of assorted swears.

Taking out his comlink, Darr-Rann contacted the squad. "Get down to hanger B-38 for mission briefing and takeoff." He thought for a moment. "Don't bother bringing any of your own blasters, unless they have a powerful energy source." Putting away the comlink, he stepped up into the ship and waited for the squad to arrive. As he sat in wait, he remembered a mission he had taken a few years ago...

------------------------------

Darr-Rann sat at his desk,

Rannik Cedaan gripped his blaster rifle uneasily, checking the ammunition pack and then setting
it down on the empty seat beside him. He was 19 years old, and he was about to begin his first mission as a member of the Corellian resistance against the New Republic. Only a small amount of Corellians were members of the resistance, but on a planet wide scale, it gave them enough members to create a formidable offense.

Rannik looked out through the Airspeeder window, gazing at the sky above. Somewhere up in space, the few pilots they had were about to attack the supply convoy that was to bring reinforcements and weapons to the NR police. They were attacking on the ground at the same time. It was the first large-scale act of open war the resistance was to display, and failure could mean the end of the group and death to their members.

"Are you nervous?" asked the man driving the speeder. He looked to be in his late thirties or early forties. Byrec Styles was one of the founders of the resistance, legendary for his skills with the blaster and the vibroblade. When Rannik had found out he would be medic for Byrec's squad, he was honored. Now he was wondering if he had made a mistake.

"Don't worry, everyone is nervous the first time they go into a fight. And you should be happy - Your going to play a role in the beginning of what is to be the start of a great change. You should be proud you had this opportunity."

Rannik nodded but was still uncertain. "What if I mess up? What if I become too afraid, or I don't have it in me to kill, when time comes? I should have thought about this more before I told Keith I would join this thing."

As they started to land, he came to a conclusion. "In any case, its too late to turn back now, I might as well go for it." Once they touched down Byrec opened the door and stepped out, the others following suit...

------------------------------

Suddenly Darr-Rann's thoughts were interrupted as Marka walked in, followed by Rogueboy and Tallanvor, then Aphamos. "This is our entire squad?" Darr-Rann thought. He knew that the squad had been shrunk due to loss of members, but he hadn't really thought about just how much until he saw them in front of him. "Anyways..."

"Okay, as you all know, we have a new mission. Now to explain what exactly that mission is." He took out a datacard from his pocket and placed it into the holo-projector, brining up a three dimensional representation of a large gas giant.

"This is Thass. The planet is a gas giant, with little purpose other then the fact that some of the gasses in the atmosphere are a powerful source of energy." He pointed towards a smaller sphere orbiting the planet, which then expanded. "This is Thass' third moon. Its the largest of all of them, although small itself by normal standards."

He picked up a stack of datacards and passed them out between the Raiders. "We were lucky to get this assignment. We're going to get some revenge for what happened in New Brinne." Tallanvor spoke up.

"We're going after the Major?" He said. Darr-Rann laughed, walking back over towards the Holo-Projector.

"No, maybe another time though. Vast Imperial intelligence has found out that spanning the surface of this moon is a large scale factory. They produced the war droids which the wolves used." Marka looked up from his datapad at the mention of this.

"He probably wants some pay back for how they injured him Darr-Rann thought. "Maybe I should talk to him later..." Darr-Rann walked over and pointed at a small space station orbiting beside the moon.

"This will be our first target. It projects a planetary shield onto the moon, preventing us from landing down there without dealing with it first. We'll be launched into space in Mark II  Zero-G gear, were we will proceed to place detonators at key points." The squad leader said, labeling the different vulnerable areas,  power generators and projectors. "We will then return to the ship and detonate once we hit a safe distance. Expect zero-g soldiers being sent as to counter us."

Darr-Rann shut off the holo-projector and returned the datacard to his pocket. "We leave in half an hour. We'll go over the surface briefing once the station is downed."

------------------------------

When they had arrived at Thass, the proceeded to equip their zero-g gear. The helmet let out a hiss as Darr-Rann secured it to the rest of his suit, closing out the environment around him completely. Walking inside the airlock, he activated his suit's systems, indicators flashing to life on the display.

"Raider leader, your suit checks out, proceeding to deployment." A voice said into his built-in comlink. "Depressurizing... Okay, your ready to go." And after a few moments, "Okay, all Raiders ready, deploying in five... four... three.. two... one..."

And with that the airlock opened, and Darr-Rann flew out into space. Turning his head to the left and right, he saw the others floating along with him. "Okay, activate your boosters and guide yourself towards the station. Remember to drift on inertia to conserve power. Then Marka spoke up.

"Zero-G combatants, dead ahead!"

"Alright, arm your blaster cannons and get ready to evade fire!" Darr-Rann said, raising his arm and activating the targeting sensors in his armor. The combatants were technical crewmen, as they had expected, and were only armed with blaster rifles. There wasn't much threat of one of their shots piercing the Raider's armor, but the squad still didn't want to take any chances.

"Open fire, upon those techs, try to get rid of 'em as quickly as possible. Watch out for any security forces coming out of the stations living area, and any ships. Recon said they didn't have anything in the way of ships other then cargo shuttles. But I don't want to take any chances."

Suddenly the sound of metal grinding on metal sounded out as the communications array started to activate. "Wait, thats supposed to take a while to get out... They upgraded it!" Darr-Rann thought. Quickly he targeted the array with his suit's sensors and fired two mini-proton torpedoes. The projectiles cut through empty space rapidly, slamming into the setup and shattering it in a fiery explosion.

"Erm... Yeah, I guess that's the 'Don't let them broadcast a warning to the surface' objective taken care of." Said Bren Rost, the squad's mission handler. Darr-Rann grinned and fired his blaster cannons into a cluster of techs. The weapons were starfighter-grade technology; It wasn't very hard to eliminate his targets.

"Hey, Raider Leader, we've got Zero-G soldiers coming from the airlocks." Said Tallanvor. Darr-Rann gazed around the area, taking in the situation. Then he gave his orders.

"Aphamos, your with me, we're going to deal with the troops. Marka, you take Tallanvor and start working on setting those charges." After a quick series of acknowledgments,  they rushed off to their respective objectives.

"Aphamos, if you can, try to destroy some of the airlocks. It'd slow the flood of enemy troops." Darr-Rann said as blasted one soldier into shreds. Meanwhile, Marka was busy attaching an explosive to one of the station's weak points. It was a difficult process, because Marka could not manipulate the explosives with his hands, rather, he had to use the suit's. Meanwhile, Tallanvor cut down waves of techs with his weaponry.

Looking around for enemies, Tallanvor spotted something moving off in the distance. Activating his comlink, he spoke. "Guys?"

"Yeah Raider four?" Darr-Rann responded, slicing open an unfortunate troop's space suit with his armor's built-in cutting laser, letting the man die from lack of pressure, throwing his body aside.

"We have starfighters, incoming now at high speeds!"

Already done with one mission and they transfer ya and throw ya into another.  Hope these guys aren't as hardcore as everyone says they are, Daminga thought to himself.  Then again, that could get interesting.  He smiled at this new idea.

He thought of his past squad, the Dark Dragoons, and especially of his old FTL, Garet.

If these guys are any more hardcore than that guy then I'm in trouble, he told himself.

He had been told about this mission and the transfer as soon as he stepped off the shuttle from his previous mission.  The officer told him that his new squad had already taken off for Thass and that another shuttle was awaiting him.  There were farewells and promises of drinks when he returned.

There had been another soldier, a corporal, on the shuttle when he climbed aboard.  Daminga nodded towards him.  The older soldier just stared at him.

For the rest of the shuttle ride they hadn't talked to each other.  Daminga had cleaned his weapons and gear, the whole time wondering how he was going to get use to the zero-gs suit.

"We'll be arriving at the battle in less than 5 minutes," came a voice of the comlink from the
pilot's seat.

"Battle?"  Daminga asked. They never told me we were going in hot.

"Yea, the Raiders have already started their mission.  They have been met with quite a bit of resistance."

Daminga looked over at the corporal.  The questioning look he got back told Daminga that he didn't know that either.

"Well, let's get suited up then," the corporal finally speaking.

Five minutes later they were standing in the airlock waiting as the count down commenced.  Finally, they were out in space.

"Over there," pointed the corporal toward the station.  "Lets go."

Just as they reached the battle, the squad split into two directions.  Daminga glanced at the corporal as if to ask, what now?  Just then a voice came over the comlink in his helmet,

"Guys?"

"Yeah Raider four?" came a second voice.

"We have starfighters, incoming now at high speed."

Daminga heard a new voice over the link,

"Raider one this is Raider replacements.  Awaiting orders."  It was the corporal.

"This is Raider one, who the hell is this?"  came a hurried and somewhat angry response.

Without a hint of offence the corporal responded, "Corporal Gavyn and &," he glanced at Daminga.

"Oh, Private First Class Daminga sir."

"Alright, Gavyn, you head over to help out with the charges with Marka and Tallanvor.  Daminga you're with me and Aphamos.  Oh and get ready for those starfighters."

Squall activated the repulsor boots and shot across the emptyness of space as he targetted the oncoming zero-g troopers.  It was tough to get used to being in space as just a soldier again, but Squall quickly got the hang of it.

"I've got marks on those three troopers that have just emerged from the opening.  Amphamos, Darr-Rann, and Daminga were engaging the two R-41 starchasers that were on course for the intercept.

"Tallanvor, stick on my rear as I open fire on these zero-g troopers," called out Squall

"Yes Sir!" he replied, attempting to fire his rifle and stop from moving at the same time.  Most of the troopers in the mission had been trained in zero-g fighting, but some of the troopers faked their way through it.  The simulations were nothing like the real thing.

Poor troopers, wish they could have had the training instructors that I did and know that the simulation trainings were almost bogus

Squall aimed carefully, then let out small burts of blaster fire, connecting immediately with the first trooper.  As the bolts hit his suit, the pressurization from withing was immediately dispursed back into space.  Once the pressure was out of the suit, the trooper suffocated and was frozen.  Just the touch of his suit would shatter his body into millions of pieces of ice.

Amazing....

Tallavanor had shot the other trooper in the helmet, easily taking him down, but the third trooper wasn't so shameful as the rest.  He was armed with a small concussion missle launcher, as if he knew he would need to use something bigger to take out the oncoming imperial soldiers.

"This is you squad leader, Darr-Rann.  We are engaging the marked fighters coming in from this vector," said Darr, transmitting the co-ordinants to Squall's datapad.  He quickly checked it out to see that the fighters trajectory was odd.  They didn't seem to be using regular flight patterns.  It was obvious now - The pilots that were in the fighters had no idea what they were doing.  The stabilizers on the uglies were more difficult to control, even most veteran pilots would need to tinker around for a while to figure out the quirks of the fighter, and seeing as though there were un-trained pilots in the fighters, it would be an easy task of taking them out.

"Darr, those pilots are greens.  Just give them a few torpedoes and they should barely be able to advoid the fire.  We're dealing with some crazy ass over here who thinks he can take me and Tall on with his concussion missile launcher.  Squall out"

Aphamos looked into the emptiness of space that surrounded him in all directions.  It was like a painting, perfect, untouched in every sense, but at the same time, lethal, sucking the life out or people like some sort of parasite.  He looked down at his suit.  Any second now, this damn thing is going to open or blow somewhere, taking me to hell with it.  He shot back up to attention as three bolts of light whizzed past his head.  he couldn't feel them anymore like he could on land; in that aspect he was blind.  He raised his blaster rifle up and aimed it to the chest of an oncoming zero-g trooper.  He pulled the trigger three times, making sure that he got enough shots of to break the armor.  The bolts soared through the endless vacuum and hit their target.  The trooper's armor ripped open, and Aphamos could see the change in expression on his face.  The soldier was instantly frozen, devoured by the blackness.

Aphamos aimed his rifle again at another zero-g enemy combatant heading towards the stormtroopers, and pulled the trigger as a flurry of shots projected out of the tip of his rifle.  The rebel froze immediately, the sight being nothing new to him.  Aphamos aimed his rifle at the next trooper, and fired, killing the rebel soldier.  How many more are there?  He aimed his rifle for a forth time, but didn't pull the trigger.  His attention was directed Darr-Rann's voice projecting through his headset.

"Alright ladies, we've got five green pilots coming in this direction, two from the right, three from the left." said their squad leader.  Darr-Rann wasn't to amused; this was just another target practice section for him, except with a new twist.  "These ones are... rather stupid to say the least.  Use your protons to quickly take their ships out." Aphamos glanced to his left, expecting three ships to come shooting past him.  He sighed, not seeing anything too eye catching yet, but could see a three faint outlines of what a rebel starfighter looked like in the distance, approaching fast.

He looked back at the small space station as a flood of rebel zero-g troopers came out.  They are trying to distract us from the fighters.  Aphamos aimed his rifle at the oncoming rebels and fired into the rebel mass, not taking any specific aim.  Half of them went down, meeting their deaths, the other half using their propulsion unit to jet towards the stormtroopers.  Aphamos checked his left again, the starfighters even closer now, a few hundred yards from firing range.

"Aphamos, you take the one on the farthest left." said Darr-Rann after taking down two more rebels.  "I'll take the one to right, and we will both take the one in the center of those two."  Aphamos raised his arm, acknowledging his squad leader's plan of attack.  He aimed his weapon at one of the last five troopers that were heading towards his position, and fired, blasting the trooper to his death.  He aimed at the other troopers and opened fire, knowing that there wasn't much time until the starfighters arrived.  The troopers each took their hits and died, leaving only the fighters that were approaching as the barrier to the ship.

Aphamos looked to his left again.  "Alright, on my mark," said Darr-Rann, "fire one of your mini protons at the ship."

"Just one of them?" asked Aphamos.

"Yes, one will take care of any ugly." answered the squad leader.  "Three."  Aphamos could see the front of the fighters that were closing in on them.  "Two."  They were nearly in range now, as if they were going to collide straight into the stormtroopers.  Aphamos aimed his torpedo at the front of the ship.  "One, MARK!" he yelled.  Aphamos fired his torpedo, the mini projectile swooping towards the ship.  It hit the ship straight on, the explosion from the torpedo instantly killing the pilot, and triggering the entire ship to explode into a massive inferno, the colors clashing with the absorbing darkness that surrounded the explosion.  Aphamos looked over the other fighter that had just been destroyed by Darr-Rann, as it became its own massive explosion.

Aphamos suddenly realized that there was still one more fighter left, and that it was heading on a course straight for the stormtroopers.  He quickly turned and fired his proton torpedo at the exact same time as Darr-Rann.  The two torpedoes sped through the vacuum, not making a noise, not even a ripple on the face of its surroundings.  Mere milliseconds later, the last of the fighters erupted into a massive carnival of fire, the additional missile furthering the destructiveness of the explosion.

"Heh, that was fun." said his squad leader.  "We should do this more often.  Maybe against actual pilots next time."  Aphamos sighed.  Those fighter were getting really close there.  That could have been really bad.  He smiled to himself as he met up with Daminga and Squall, Tallanvor and Marka still on their objective.

"Ours were... interesting individuals to say the least."  said Squall.  "Not exactly the best pilots of the bunch."

"I think one of them was asleep." said Tallanvor.  Aphamos looked at Tallanvor.  "No seriously, it looked like one of the-"  He was cut off by an array of blaster fire that barely missed some of the squad members.  More zero-g troopers were heading towards the Raiders, this time being angry and wanting revenge.

"I want to have some fun with these ones." said Aphamos.  Using his propulsion device, he shot forward in the direction of the enemy combatants.  He aimed his rifle at the chest of one of the the troopers as he was going forward and fired three shots.  The bolts pierced through the rebel's armor, the rebel instantly freezing.  Aphamos came to a stop and aimed his rifle again.  He fired, hitting another rebel and sending him to his death.  Using his propulsion device, he shot towards a rebel who fired at him, missing twice, dying only moments later due to Aphamos's fire.  Aphamos stopped, aimed his rifle again, now in the middle of the group of rebels, and fired, pulling the trigger six times, annihilating three of the enemy troopers.  He spun as fast as he could and fired at the other two rebels, killing them.

He turned and rode back to his squad who had just taken care of another group of zero-g troopers.  He turned to his left and saw Marka and Tallanvor approaching the squad, finally back from planting the explosives on the space station.  The squad examined the area again for enemy soldiers and found none, the assault stopping.  They jetted to their ship, entering and taking a seat.

"Alright ladies, lets see some fire works."  said Darr-Rann, staring out of the view port on the ship.  Once then pilot had flown them out of the range of the space station, Darr-Rann gave the count.  "Alright, here it goes.  The biggest explosion that you have ever seen.  Are you ladies rea-"  He was cut off by Aphamos.

"Sir, can you just push the button already." added Aphamos politely, seeing that he had stepped over the line.  Darr-Rann stared at him, and finally pushed the button, detonating the explosives.  Small explosions started to form on the outside of the space station, little red spots on the hull of the ship.  The explosions finally triggered the chain reactor in the space station, and the entire station finally spewed into a colossal flame, the entire station engrossed in fire.

"That... was nice." said Daminga.

"There it is, ladies." said Darr-Rann, pointing to a small moon orbiting a larger planet.  "The Thass Moon.  There's the factory."  He kept his finger in the same place, pointed at the moon.

"Where?" asked Aphamos.

"Right there."  His finger was still the same place.  Aphamos understood.  It was the entire moon.

Chapter Two: The Green Zone

Darr-Rann walked over to the holo-projector at the end of the room and activated it. "This is a three dimensional model of Thass Delta." The squad leader said, pressing a button at the control panel, which proceeded to zoom in on a specific region of the moon.

"The entire moon is covered in factories, and nuclear generators are entrenched deep into the surface." He pressed the button again, and it zoomed in even further, revealing a large tower-like structure. "What you see is the surface section of Primary Generator A3. This is our target - we will infiltrate the structure and rig explosives around the key points of the generator. Our scientists tell us a powerful enough explosion will send the station into meltdown, and trigger a chain reaction which shall be powerful enough to destroy the entire factory."

He pressed the button once more, and the hologram changed. Now projected was a small area surrounded by large walls. "This is the Green Zone." Darr-Rann said. "It is an area set up by factory administration for potential customers to meet the head people of this thing. It is called the green zone because it is the only area in the entire moon which has a safe level of radiation, due to its intense anti-rad shields. Our first objective is to land and take the area."

"Sergeant Bell, are your men ready?" Darr-Rann asked one of the many Vast Imperial soldiers sitting with the stormtroopers. The Sergeant merely nodded.

"Sergeant Bell and his men are to back us up on this objective. They will help us secure the Green Zone and protect it while we are away. Now to objectives." He pressed a button, and text appeared next to the few structures in the area.

"This is the communications tower. Fire team one's first objective will be to disable the communications array. We don't want the Generator staff alerted to our presence." He pointed to another structure. "This is the hanger. Team two will blow it up, to try and prevent any of them from getting away. While we are hitting these buildings, Marka will take eight soldiers and maintain control of the open area." He pointed to the final building.

"This is the administrative building. Team one and team two will merge and take this one down once they have finished with their own. We'll probably find lots of useful data there." He turned off the projector.

"Estimated time to reach the moon is twenty minutes. Get ready for combat."

Aphamos stood up and looked around at his fire team members. This should be no problem.  Land, blow stuff up, then leave.  He heard Darr-Rann's  voice over the intercom.  They had three minutes before they would land in the green zone.  He looked out at the moon, Aphamos quickened his pace to the room containing his armor until he realized that he wouldn't be needing it; they were landing in a radiation free zone.  He turned around and walked back to his squad mates who were sitting there; staring out into space, patiently waiting for their arrival on the moon.

"Landing in five, four, three, two, one." said the voice over the intercom.  Aphamos felt a very light thump as the ship landed on its designated pad.  He walked to the front of the ship as the airlock door opened.  He exited the ship, looking around and examining his surroundings.  It was a huge area edged with walls and a small office structure in the middle.  Aphamos noticed the trees and scarce yet still  visible plant life around him.  They have to please the customers somehow

"WE'VE GOT A GRENADE.  MOVE NOW!" yelled Daminga.  Aphamos had already seen the explosive and had moved out of its range, the ground next to him exploding.  Aphamos looked up as he saw a group of battle droids come up and start to fire at the stormtroopers.  He stood up and ran towards them, firing at one and destroying it.  Aphamos was now in melee range of the droids.  He smashed the head of one of enemies with the butt of his gun as he fired at another.  The machines fell to the ground now in a shamble of wires and electrical parts.  Aphamos ran to a human this time, getting down and kicking the troopers legs.  He jammed his gun into the now kneeling soldier's head and fired three shots, killing him.  Aphamos looked around for more resistance.  What?  They stopped?  Fine with me...  He looked back at his squad.  They were all spread around; finishing the last of their droids or waiting for further commands.  The last of the fire finally came to a stop, and the squad met with each other again.

"Is there any resistance left?" said Darr-Rann.  The squad leader quickly scanned the area.  "Nice job ladies; you did well on this one.  I expect to see the same quality of performance in your next objective."  The squadron walked to the ship, still on there guard in case any droids decided to make a surprise showing.  The door opened as two squadrons of stormtroopers emerged from the ship, spreading out through the entire green zone.  Aphamos walked to the ship and entered, walking to the back of the ship towards he storage area.

"Two minutes until landing."  said Darr-Rann.  Aphamos saw the armor on the wall and quickly walked towards it.  He put the armor on, the feel of it not being to new to him.  He remembered the radiation training he had been through with the same armor and weapons, and how he had passed with no flaws.  This just keeps getting easier and easier.  He raised his arms up and stretched his legs.  His joints were stiff from his last objective in space, in the bulky zero-g armor.  Aphamos picked up his vibroblade and his grenades, attaching them to his belt.  He picked up his force pike, staring at the blade on the top.  He flicked it on, the blade now illuminating the shady room.  He turned it off and placed it on his back, positioning it to where he could easily access it when needed.  He turned to his blaster carbine and picked it up, examining the weapon.  At least its better than what I have.

"One minute until landing." said the hollow voice over the intercom.  The intercom could turn any voice into ice; make it as sharp as a knife.  His eyes searched the platform for anything that he had left.  He then noticed a pack on the ground next to where his blaster was.  Can't forget these.  He looked inside the pack to find four explosives packs.  He smiled to himself and closed the it, then slung it around his neck.

"Landing, landing." said Darr-Rann.  Aphamos turned and walked back to the front of the ship walking to his fire team.  He felt a very slight thump as the ship hit the surface of the moon.  The airlock door hissed open, introducing the new environment to the stormtroopers.  Aphamos immediately closed his eyes, adjusting to the light that had just punched him in the face.  He slowly opened his eyes again, trying to catch brief glimpses of the landscape when his helmet's viewscreen triggered, adjusting the light so it was comfortable to him.  Aphamos stepped out of the ship, looking around at the moon.  Nothing.  Everything is dead.  The area was barren, except for the large buildings and factories that littered the area in front of them.  He walked forward to his squad leader before he left off on the mission.

"Ah, what a beautiful sight, don't you think?" asked Darr-Rann is a sarcastic tone.  "It will look better once it's in a trillion pieces though, trust me."  Aphamos smirked at the thought.  It will look better in a few hours then.  He saluted Darr-Rann and made his way to Squall, his fire team leader.  Squall was talking to Tallanvor, both being surrounded by six other stormtroopers who were obediently waiting for their commands.

"Alright Aphamos.  This objective is to be done as swiftly and as efficiently as possible, understood?"  Squall asked.  Aphamos nodded as Squall continued with his briefing.  He pulled out a device and pressed a button.  A hologram of a building projected out of the device.  As the hologram showed different parts of the building, Aphamos noticed a huge gap in one of its sides.  "The hanger is located on the second story of this building.  We will be entering here," he said while pointing to the new image that had just been produced, "through the back entrance.  Intelligence tells us that the area is heavily guarded with droids, so watch your step."  Squall stopped for a moment to let all that information sink in.  He took a breath and then continued.  "I don't want to loose any men on this mission.  I know what happened last time we had to confront them, so lets not let that happen again."

"Troopers, get into your fire teams.  We meet at check point A in thirty minutes.  Good luck."  The hologram turned off as Squall attached the device to his belt.  Aphamos looked towards the buildings to the north.  Squall raised his fist, signaling for the team's attention.  The fire team walked to formation and waited.  He moved his hand to the direction of the hanger, giving the troopers the go ahead.  The team started on their run to the factory.  Aphamos ran forward to scout the area for resistance.  None yet, which means that they are going to give us hell when we get there

                             --------------

"We are here." said Squall.  They had finally arrived at the entrance to the  building.  Aphamos looked around at the encompassing factories and structures.  There is no life here.  Only machine.  He felt dry, as if something was sucking the energy out of him.  He shook his head and snapped back to reality by the sound of his fire team leader's voice.  "We move in on my mark.  Only fire when you see something, we don't want to give away our position."  Aphamos glanced back at the allied stormtroopers.  He looked at each of them, one by one, digging deep inside of them to find the fear.  He stopped and stared at one trooper.  He was shaking; shooting looks around at their location, trying to find an enemy.

Aphamos turned back around and moved to the wall in front of him beside the door.  "Three, two, one, MARK!" yelled Squall.  He kicked the door open, the shaking stormtrooper almost instantly firing a mirage of blaster bolts into the room.  Aphamos closed his eyes, leaning back against the wall and swearing to himself.  "MOVE MOVE MOVE!" commanded Squall as an array of blaster fire came out from the door, knocking down three of the stormtroopers.  Aphamos followed Squall into the building, blaster fire coming from all sides.  Aphamos looked up as a worker ran to the wall and pressed a button, triggering the alarm.  They have people here?  A deafening noise filled the entire factory as more droids and humans poured into the room and came down the stairs.

Aphamos ran to the stairs and pointed his blaster at the oncoming enemies.  He pulled the trigger several, destroying five of droids.  He ran up the stairs and pulled out his force pike, flicking it to life.  Blaster fire came in huge waves, just barely missing him.  He rolled on the ground towards the mass of droids.  As he finished his roll, Aphamos came across with his weapon, annihilating the the wall of droids in front of him.  He stood up, the blaster fire coming to an end, and ran to a computer terminal at the corner of the room.  He looked at it, not understanding any of the buttons on it.  He raised his force pike and came down with it straight into the terminal, the ignited blade smashing the outside layer and the inside circuits of the device.  Aphamos quickly removed his weapon from the machine and dove to the side as the device exploded, spattering out sparks to random area of the room.  The sound of the alarm started to fade, coming to a stop as the entire fire team came up the stairs.

"Alright, we need to get there as quickly as possible." said Squall.  "We have already screwed up once, and they know that we are here.  Don't do it again."  Aphamos looked at the other stormtroopers again, and couldn't find the shaking one.  Must have gotten caught in the blaster fire.  He followed his fire team leader through the door towards the hanger.  They entered a large room with a huge gap in one side.  A small droid transport and two other ships were located in the middle of the area while droids were moving crates into the transport.

"We've got trouble!" yelled Tallanvor, pointing towards the droids that were heading their way.

"Here's the plan." said Squall.  "Tallanvor, you and Red One and Red Two will take out all resistance, while Aphamos, Red Three and I will rig the place.  We rendezvous back here in five minutes.  There will be no flaws here, understood?"  Aphamos nodded and looked to the other side of the hanger on the high ledge.  He noticed a black spot on the ledge, what looked like another human.  He continued to stare as a green bolt of light struck one of the stormtroopers behind him, knocking the trooper down.

"WE'VE GOT SNIPERS ON THE TOP LEDGE!  MOVE, MOVE!" screamed Aphamos.  He jumped down from his ledge onto the platform below him, aiming his carbine and firing at a droid, destroying it.  He ran to one side of the hanger and came to a sudden halt.  A door on the ledge above him opened as a huge clump of droids emerged from it, surrounding something in between them.  Aphamos smiled and ran to one of the ships; the ship that the droids were heading for, and placed two explosives packs on the bottom of the ship.  He ran from under the ship to one of the droids, smashing its head with the butt of his gun, and firing at another.

He looked over at his fire team leader who was giving him a signal telling him to go up.  Aphamos signaled back and ran to the stairs.  He ran up the stairs, destroying three more droids in the process.  He ran up the next set of steps, sniper fire whizzing past him in almost every direction as he went up yet another flight of stairs.

He had finally reached the top and saw Squall there waiting for him.  "Do you see those things on the walls?" asked Squall while pointing to a device on the wall which was attached to other ones like it.  "Those are reactors.  Place the explo-"  Aphamos pushed Squall and fell ducked as a sniper bolt sailed past them where Squall's head was.  "Thanks for that, now get to work." he ordered.  Aphamos got up and ran to one of the reactors, laying and explosives pack on it.  He did the same to another reactor and ran back down the stairs again to the rendezvous point.  The team was there in cover and under fire, Tallanvor and the other stormtroopers still shooting.  Aphamos and Squall both dove into the cover, the blaster fire becoming heavier and heavier by the second.

"LETS GO!" yelled Squall.  The fire team funneled back through the door they came through to the hanger.  Aphamos waited a moment, taking a look back at the ship he had laid the explosives on.  The guarded figure had just reached the ship and was boarding it.  Aphamos dropped the rest of his explosives and ran out the door, his team already having exited the building.  He followed his team out and onto the moon again, the radiation waiting there just for him.  He had that feeling again, that loss of energy which triggered once he was outside.  He turned the temperature in his armor down, trying to cool himself a bit.

"Dammit, they are getting away!" yelled Tallanvor.  Not for long.  Aphamos pressed his detonator right as the ship left the hanger.  The entire hanger cast out in a colossal explosion.  The hanger was now a fiery pit, devouring everything ini its path.  The ship in the air met the same fate, exploding and sending off fiery debris in every direction.  That has got to be the best one yet.

Aphamos and his fire team made their way towards the rendezvous point at the administration building.  The thought of the explosion was still in his head; the explosion that he had helped create.  He liked seeing thing blow up, seeing things changed through fire; he always had.  Even as a child he liked to burn things; his parents always rebuking him for it.  He looked forward through the maze of structures and could see a building identical to the one that Darr-Rann had showed him earlier in the ship.  His fire team leader's hand went up, signaling for the team to stop.  They were about ten yards away from the back side of the building.  With another wave of Squall's hand, the team started up again, this time at a much slower pace than before.  Aphamos looked over at the side of the building.  There were two ladders on the side of the building leading to the roof.  Our entrance.  They were just about to turn to face the front of the building when Squall's hand went up again.  He had heard something; footsteps.  He shook his head and his hand went down, realizing that it wasn't an enemy.  He stepped forward, Aphamos and the rest of the team following.

"Well, it has been a while, now hasn't it." said a familiar voice.  Aphamos turned to see Darr-Rann, Daminga, and Rozelo waiting; beside them three other stormtroopers.  Aphamos smiled, relieved to hear that voice again.  "The objective went well, I imagine?" asked Darr-Rann.

"Yes Sir.  Everything went according to the plan." replied Squall.  Aphamos examined the front of the building.  There was a small, metal door in the middle, an electronic pad next to it.  The front of the building was worn, rust making its place in tiny crevices.

"What's the plan Sir?" asked Aphamos.  "How are we going to get in?"  Aphamos looked over at his squad leader, who was also looking at the front of the building.  "There are a set of ladders at the side over here."  Aphamos walked over to the side of the building, pointing in the direction of the ladders.  "We could go up there and make our entrance that way."  Darr-Rann walked towards Aphamos, wanting to get a view of the ladders.  He nodded, now walking towards them.  Aphamos followed him, walking to the ladder beside his squad leader's.  He placed his hand on the rusty metal bar and tightened his grip.  Small particles of the rust started to sprinkle down and rub onto the armor.  Aphamos placed his other hand on the bar now, and pulled as hard as he could.  The ladder was secure in its place and was stale enough to use.  He climbed the ladder, reaching the top of the building as Darr-Rann did the same.  He signaled to his other squadmates to start climbing the ladders.

Aphamos looked at the roof of the building.  There was a small structure on the top with a door on one of its sides.  He looked back at the ladders; all of his squadmates had made it and were waiting for orders.  Aphamos walked to the small room and rapped his knuckles on the door.  Its not reinforced at all.  They must not expect anyone to come from here.  He put both of his hands on the door and pushed, the door immediately sliding open with not much sound or effort.  He put his head inside and saw a staircase leading to the floor below.  Calling to his squadmates, he stepped inside the small room.  He shivered, not used to the small size of the room.  He started to panic a bit, glancing around the room.  He tried to calm himself, but he couldn't make the feeling go away.  Stop it dammit.  Just breathe.  He took a deep breath and exhaled, doing him no good whatsoever.  He couldn't bear the feeling, the agitation, anymore and stepped outside, bumping into Daminga.

"You okay there?" asked Daminga, "You seem a bit...out of it."  Aphamos immediately straightened up and nodded, the feeling still creeping in his body.  He saw his squad leader step into the room and examine it, stepping back out again.  "What's the plan Sir?" asked Daminga.

"We go in soldier." answered Darr-Rann.  "If anyone has a gun, shoot them; I don't want any prisoners getting shot either.  Once we get in, everyone get to the datapad jacks in the walls and start the file extractions except Aphamos and Squall.  You two will be our eyes and ears while we are getting the files.  We need to get in and out as fast as possible.  When the file extraction is complete, we rig the explosives and leave.  Red One, Two, and Blue Three and Four, you will stay and guard the outside of the building.  Understood?"  Aphamos nodded.  "Alright, lets go."  Darr-Rann walked to the room again and quietly stepped down the staircase.  Aphamos swallowed, his throat being extremely dry, closed his eyes, and walked to the room, repeating to himself the one word that changed everything.  Perfection.  Perfection.  He entered the room and walked down the stairs, now calm at last.  Turning, he walked down the next set of steps.  He came to a stop, hearing voices; people yelling.

"Hey, who are you?!" heard Aphamos.  "What are you doing?  Put your hands up!" The voice stopped with the familiar sound of blaster fire.  Aphamos ran down the flight of stairs and into a room.  The room was filled with computer terminals of various types.  He looked to the corner of the room and could see a huddle of prisoners, Darr-Rann standing guard to them.  Aphamos pointed his carbine at them, looking around the room for a datapad jack.  He found five on the wall beside Darr-Rann.  He walked over to it and inserted the appropriate wire from his datapad into it.  The words "Data Extraction Beginning" started blinking on the screen as Daminga, Tallanvor, and Squall hooked up their datapads as well.  Aphamos got up, looking at the prisoners.  They were all human, all afraid.  He concentrated on one of them; the man's hands were shaking and he was shooting looks around the whole room and the stormtroopers finished filing in.  Aphamos looked a bit harder, noticing that the man was moving towards the left, his hand reaching for something.

"Don't move." said Aphamos, directing it to the prisoner, who continued moving to the left.  "I SAID, DON'T MOVE!" commanded Aphamos again.  The prisoner kept moving and finally dove to the wall next to him, his hand hitting a small red button.  Oh, shit.  This wasn't suppose to happen.  A loud ring filed the room, the sound the same as the ring of the alarm Aphamos had heard at the hanger building.  He swore to himself again as a mechanized voice projected over the intercom.

"SELF DESTRUCT INITIATED.  WILL PROCEED TO SECURING ALL EXITS.  SELF DESTRUCT IN THREE MINUTES AND COUNTING." said the voice.

Aphamos looked around the room at his squadmates.  they were all standing still, amazed at what had just happened.  The loud bangs of the exits closing were the only noises, one by one, each breaking the silence.  Aphamos turned and stared at the man who had just pressed the button.  The man had stopped shaking; he knew that he was going to die one way or another.  Aphamos walked towards him, the man giving him a cold, hard look.  He stopped over the man, waiting there, a huge tower compared to the man, until the prisoner would make his move.  The prisoner continued to sit there, the same look on his face the entire time.  Aphamos smacked the man in the face with the butt of his gun, breaking the prisoners jaw.  The man started to bleed from the mouth, not making a sound, still sitting.  Aphamos bent down onto his knees to where his helmet was next to the prisoner's head.  "You know, you weren't going to die if you just stood still.  But now, you still aren't going to die, for there are things much, much worse than death, you hold me to the, my friend."  Aphamos rose to his feet again, the prisoner's face now starting to get pale.

"TWO MINUTES UNTIL SELF DESTRUCT."

Aphamos walked over to his squad leader who was still guarding the prisoners.  He looked down at his datapad; the file extraction was almost complete.  Darr-Rann was still guarding the other four prisoners.  They weren't talking at all now, knowing that there was no way out for them.  If they stayed, the building would explode, taking them with it.  If they came outside, the radiation would instantly kill them off.  All they could do was wait as the blackness of death came closer and closer to them.  "Daminga, Squall, and Tallanvor, you three try to find an exit." said Darr-Rann, his voice still calm and clear.  Aphamos started to look around the room as well, knowing that they weren't going to find an exit for most of the openings were now reinforced with metal.  We are going to have to make on

"ONE MINUTE UNTIL SELF DESTRUCT."

"Sir, we couldn't find anything." said Squall.  "Everything has been reinforced with metal, and there is no way out."  A small beeping started up.  Aphamos walked to the datapads, the file extractions finally complete.  "How are we going to get out, Sir?" asked Squall, the slightest bit of alarm in his voice.  Aphamos stepped forward, still thinking, yet on the verge of an idea.

"The ceiling." said Aphamos, as the troopers quickly collected their datapads.  "We get out through the ceiling.  It isn't reinforced as well as the other areas, and we can easily blow a hole through it." Aphamos ran to the stairs, knowing that there wasn't much time left.  He attached three explosives packs to the roof of the building and walked away, taking cover.  He pulled out the detonator and pressed the button, triggering the explosives.  The entire room shook as smoke and small bits of rubble emerged from the door at the corner of the room.  Aphamos waited a moment longer for the debris to clear up, then entered the room with the stairs again.  He looked up at the large hole that was just created in the ceiling.  That looks about right.  "There you have it folks.  Your exit."

"TWENTY SECONDS REMAINING."

"Alright, lets get out of here." said Darr-Rann.  He looked towards the prisoners.  "I wish there was a way to get you out of here.  If your friend here hadn't pressed the button, you probably could have lived.  I'm sorry it has to end like this."  He paused for a moment to let it sink in.  "Lets move troopers!"  The squad quickly ran up the staircase back into the radiation.  One by one they climbed down the ladder, jumping down and running when they were only halfway down it.  Aphamos jumped down and ran for cover, the explosion happening any second now.  He shielded his eyes, not wanting to get a full glimpse of the combustion.  A loud beeping noise amplified out of the building, which only seconds later, cracked into a salvo of flames, sending fiery bits and pieces of what was inside before in all directions.  bah, that could have been so much better if we had just a little more time.

A trooper walked towards Darr-Rann with a datapad held in front of him.  "As you know Sir," said the trooper, "the primary generator is that direction." He pointed north to a jumble of buildings, a taller, thinner one protruding out from the ground.  "And also, due to the alarm, it will be very heavily guarded."  Darr-Rann nodded as Aphamos slowly walked towards the trooper.  "Well," the trooper started again, "intelligence has notified us that there are now enemy droids approaching us from the behind.  Once they reach us, it is foreseen the ones in front to the north will start their attack on us so that we have nowhere to go."

"How much time until they hit us from the behind?" asked Darr-Rann who was deep in thought.

"Intelligence estimates about eight to ten minutes."

"Well then," interrupted Aphamos, "we better run."

Great, more battle droid.  I don't mind humans because they're just stupid most of the time.  Battle droids are a different story.

"Let's take them out now before the rear droids catch us," ordered Darr as he shouldered his weapon and started running towards the buildings in front of the squad.  The rest of them started after him.  After going about 200 meters they intercepted the front group of droids.

It was Squall who saw them first.

"To the right!" he called out as he dropped to one knee and fired, knocking off the head of one of the droids.  Daminga skidded to a halt as he carefully aimed and fired twice knocking down two more droids.  He counted eight more standing as Tallanvor and Aphamos took down three more droids.  The imperial troops had scattered and were trying desperately to hit something.  They had a few lucky shots that hit something at times.  Blaster fire was now covered the empty space between the two groups, which was only about twenty meters.

As bolts flew by his body, Darr yelled out, "We need to get this over with before the rear droids advance!"

"Got it!" yelled Aphamos as he grabbed a grenade from his belt and flipped it toward the droids.  The concussion threw most of them down as the rest of the squad finished them off.

"Let's go people!  The rest will be coming soon!" called out Darr, as the squad started moving again.

The squad had been running for about 20 minutes now at almost top speed through the maze of builds toward the tall building holding the primary generator.  Daminga glanced around at his squad mates.  His squad leader was looking a little white in the face.  Darr also kept glancing around checking up on everyone.  Aphamos was puffing a little.  Squall was hanging back a little with the rest of the imperial troops and looking a little winded himself.  Tallanvor kept looking over his shoulder ready to spin and fire if the battle droid caught up with them.  Rozelo looked about ready to fall over.

First mission right out of basic, he should be the best out of us all.  They don't train them like they used to, thought Daminga as he smiled remembering his days of basic training.

"Sir, the droids are within sight," called out Tallanvor still looking behind them, "About two to three squads of them."  At this statement, the imperial troops quickened their steps.

"Come on, people, let's get there before our new friends decide to join us."

Not the best I've had. Sorry guys.

Aphamos looked up at the huge, metal structure in front of him.  His squad had just reached it, knowing that they didn't have much time left before the resistance would strike them in the flank.  They needed to get in, and fast.  Holy crap.  This is just the part on the outside.  The entire building spanned as far as he could see, the part in front of him merely a minute fraction of its total reach.  I don't think we're going to be able to blow a hole in this one.  He walked over to his squad leader, Darr-Rann, who was also staring at the factory in amazement.  Aphamos looked back at the building, trying to find some way to get in.  Why can't they just build some sort of door?  Make it easier for us.  He smiled to himself at the thought, examining the height of the building.  He saw Darr-Rann walk to the structure and rap his knuckles on its solid metal exterior, trying to estimate how thick it was.  Darr-Rann pointed his blaster rifle at the wall and fired, the shot not making a mark on the metal.

"Well, that's not going to work." he said.  "Any ideas troopers?"  There was silence throughout the stormtroopers, each of them trying to think of a way to get in.  "Don't worry, it's an open conversation, no need to wait and be called on."  His squad leader stepped back from the building and walked back towards Aphamos.  "Do you have any ideas?" he asked.  Aphamos pulled a concussion grenade from his belt.  The grenades that they used in radiation environments were different from the usual grenades that were the standard issue; they had better protection so the the radiation wouldn't trigger an explosion.  Aphamos pulled the cap off the explosive and tossed it at the tower in front of him, the object landing right beside the structure.  The grenade detonated, debris shooting up and smoke fogging up the area.  The smoke cleared up moments later as Aphamos walked to the site of the explosion, staring hard at the metal of the wall.  Barely a scratch.  How is that possible?  He touched the lightly singed metal, no real marks of weather on it.  He walked back to Darr-Rann who was also staring at the spot of the detonation.

"Nice job trooper." he said.  "You have managed to waste a grenade, and try to blow up the thickest point on the tower.  Now, give me a count of how many detonation packs that we have."  Aphamos ran to all the troopers, adding up how many of the packs they had left.

"Twenty five, Sir." said Aphamos.

"That will do.  Follow me." said Darr-Rann.  He started towards the building again, this time heading to an area to the left of the explosion.  They reached the building, Darr-Rann rapping his knuckles on the metal again.  "Here, try that." he said, pointing to the wall.  Aphamos knocked on the metal.  "It's thinner, isn't it?"  Aphamos nodded.  "It's the way they reinforced the wall.  Do you see that?"  He traced a rectangle shape on the wall around the weakened area.  "There was some sort of gap here that they had to reinforce with more metal.  See, the lines on the metal don't match on the edge here, and you can see some of the welding marks.  This is where we hit."  The squadron of troops surrounded them, staring at that portion of the wall.  "Lets get... seven packs onto here and see how it goes.  If it works, rush in and be on your guard.  Take out all the troops you meet; we still have a long distance we have to get through before we get to the core.  Oh, and unless one of you has another idea, you better hope that this one works."  The stormtroopers started to hand down their explosives packs, Aphamos placing them on the wall.

Once all six were placed, Aphamos gave the signal to back up.  He ran out of the range of the explosives, raising his fingers to give the count.  "Three, two, one, MARK!" he yelled, pressing the detonate button.  The ground shook, the explosion sending off a massive wave of energy.  An enormous cloud of smoke emerged from the explosion, rendering that entire area invisible for the moment.  The smoke slowly started to filter away, Aphamos finally being able to see something.  That worked?  There was a small hole in the wall where the metal used to be, just big enough for then to slide into.  The troopers slowly made their way to the hole, Aphamos sticking his head in to check for resistance.  "Nothing yet.  It's clear, well, for now at least." They started to crawl in one by one until all of the stormtroopers were inside.  Aphamos looked around to find a half-circular path leading to the two sides of the factory, a room in the middle which would lead to the inside.  He walked to the room in front of him, the door immediately sliding open.  Instinctively, Aphamos raised his blaster carbine, expecting some sort of resistance.  It was a small, all metal room, a light hanging from the ceiling and extending down.  Red light emitted from the bulb, covering the entire room.  The stormtroopers cautiously entered behind him, the door finally shutting.

"The decontamination chamber." said Darr-Rann.  "I won't really bother to explain; it's sort of obvious."  Aphamos looked to the other side of the room, another set of doors there.  He walked to the doors, which this time, didn't slide open immediately.  He pressed the button on the side, the door finally opening.  There before him were a mass of humans, all armed with blaster pistols and aimed at his head.

"DROP YOU WEAPON NOW!" yelled one of the troops.  "I SAID NOW, DAMMIT!"  Aphamos continued to stand still.  He threw his weapon behind him, at the same time, pulling out a grenade and throwing it at the enemies.  He stepped back, pressing the control button again and shutting the door.  He turned around, facing the stormtroopers, who were all staring at him.

"Yeah, we've got trouble." he stifled, still in shock at what had just happened.  Aphamos heard the explosion of the grenade, the screams of pain starting up.  "Well, we can't just go out there.  They will chop us down with fire, and we can't stay in here, because they will get in.  So, I have an idea.  We have eight packs left, right?"  A murmur of approval throughout the stormtroopers.  "I say that we rig this place up with the explosives, open the door, escape through the door that we entered through, drawing them inside.  Then we blow it up."  By the time Aphamos was finished, the troopers were already done placing six explosives packs in different place inside the room.  "Alright, you guys get out, and I'll draw them in."  He waited until all the stormtroopers had left the decontamination area and pulled out his last grenade.  Lucky number three.  He walked to the wall beside the door, picking up his blaster carbine as well.  He took a deep breath and exhaled, muttering to himself that one word, over and over again.  You have on chance at this, so make it good.  Perfection.  Perfection.  In a matter of seconds, he opened the door, threw the grenade out and ran back to the door behind him.  He fired random shots in the enemy's direction, the soldier starting to pour into the room.

He left the room, shots whizzing past his head.  "Three, two, one, MARK!" he yelled.  Daminga pushed the detonator, triggering the explosives.  The ground started to shake again, Aphamos having to brace himself to the ground.  The shaking continued for five more seconds, then ended, silence taking its place.  Aphamos stepped forward, the doors opening to a morgue, dead bodies lying all over the floor.  Guess it worked.  The stormtroopers walked through the other door; Aphamos quickly raised his weapon and fired at the last soldier, killing him.  Four speeders were there, abandoned by the enemy troopers.  Aphamos looked forward, another set of blast doors in front of them.  Dammit.  How many of these do they have?  He walked towards the blast doors and rapped his fingers on them.  "These one are thin.  We should be able to blow past them pretty quickly."  He placed the remaining four explosives packs on the blast doors and detonated them, creating another sizable hole.

"Get the speeders in there.  We're going to be needing them if we want to get to the core." said Darr-Rann.  Aphamos walked in through the hole, overwhelmed by what he was seeing.  A huge, metal path expanded upward, leading to the core.  Yeah, we're going to be needing those speeders

(OOC: Defiantly not my best work, but I just wanted to get us here before the Devaron Campaign starts up again.)

(OOC:  This starts when we blow up the most recent set of blast doors.  See my above post for details)

Aphamos placed his explosive pack on the wall in front of him next to the other three, and then backed away, shielding his eyes with his hands.  He felt sick; the vision of the corpses that he had passed earlier still fresh in his mind.  He was used to the sight, but it still sent a small shiver down his spine.  He tried to clear his mind of the picture, taking a mental count of the number of explosive pack that they had left, as well as the number of grenades that were left.  Thirteen pack left, six grenades.  I think that will be enough.  He shrugged, now waiting for the explosion.  "Alright, detonate on my mark." said Darr-Rann.  Aphamos nodded, taking the detonator off of his belt.  "Odds are that there will be another pocket of resistance, so Daminga, toss another grenade in there when the hole is created.  The rest of you, take cover."  Darr-Rann paused for a moment, looking around to make sure that everyone was ready.  He looked over at Aphamos and nodded.  "Three, two, one, MARK!"  Aphamos pressed the red button, a huge noise sounding off behind him.  The metal ground started to shake, Aphamos looking over at Daminga.  The trooper quickly turned, throwing a grenade into the hole.

Aphamos dove to the left, green bolts of fire emerging from the hole.  The second explosion went off, this one much smaller.  He rose up, springing through the door, diving to the right while he was still protected by the smoke.  He raised his rifle, crouching down on one knee, readying himself for the resistance.  The smoke quickly cleared out, leaving three corpses on the ground.  Aphamos aimed his rifle and fired at the first man he saw, the shot hitting him straight between the eyes.  The body fell to the ground, moments later, the process repeating with the five other men that were still standing.  Aphamos slowly rose to his feet, Darr-Rann examining the area.  A vast highway resided in front of them, spanning out a longer distance then Aphamos could see.  It was tilted in a way that led them up, and from Aphamos's guess, to more resistance and at least one more blast door.  Here we go again.  "Alright, good job ladies.  Now bring those four speeders up here, and let's ride."  Damn.  I hate sharing a speeder.  Darr-Rann walked over the nearest speeder and sat down, turning the vehicle on and maneuvering it forward onto the highway.  "Marka, you and Aphamos get on one speeder and go forward and scout out the track.  The rest of you, find a partner and get going."

Aphamos walked over to the speeder next to Darr-Rann's.  "You can drive." Marka plainly added, obviously not to enthusiastic about their long journey up the path.  Aphamos sat down on the vehicle, placing his hands on the controls.  He closed his eyes, happy about being able to riding the speeder.  Man, I love these things.  he had always had a fondness of going fast, and swoops let him do just that.

"You better brace yourself," he said sarcastically, "because this is going to be one hell of a ride."  Aphamos heard Marka swallow, taking his seat behind Aphamos.  Just as Marka took his seat, Aphamos pushed forward on the handles, the vehicle blasting forward.  Hopefully he didn't fall off.  Aphamos felt something hit him on the shoulder, turning his head back to see Marka.  Even though the white stormtrooper armor was covering his body, Aphamos could still tell that his friend was caught off guard.  Aphamos smiled, and then turned back again, concentrating on the highway.  So far, their passage was clean, no resistance in their way.  It seemed like the highway would go on forever, every minute or so, Aphamos checking the distance they had traveled.  The path was silent, the only sound being the quiet hum of the engine, as well as the noise created by the speed of the vehicle itself.  Even though he was in his armor, he could still feel the wind hitting his face; he closed his eyes, shutting out all the sound around him.  He made himself an extension of the vehicle as he started to breathe in and out deeply, trying to relax.  He hadn't done this in a long time, and now that he thought of it, he hadn't gotten a decent bit of sleep in a long time.

His eyes shot open as he heard the sound of footsteps.  He took his binoculars out, looking forward towards the source of the sound.  He saw a small squadron off troopers, about five to be exact.  They were jogging straight towards his and Marka's position, obviously hearing about the disturbance that had been caused by the stormtroopers.  Aphamos put his binoculars down, turning his head to look back at Marka.  His ally was staring towards the enemies as well, placing his binoculars back onto his belt.  "I can take them in one shot." said Aphamos.  "Are you in?"  Marka hesitated for a moment, and then nodded, still not sure about what he had accepted too.  "I'll drop you off further up when we get near them.  You know, for your own safety."  Marka didn't need to think about what he had just heard, immediately nodding after the statement.  Aphamos turned around once more, pushing forward on the controls again.  He was quickly gaining distance, almost in range of the resistance ahead of him.  He slowed down just a bit, not ready for the attack just yet.  Alright, so how are we going to do this?  He had the basic idea of what he was going to perform to take the rebels out, but he wasn't sure of whether or not it was physically possible for the speeder or execute it.

"Oh, what the heck!" he muttered to himself, turning the speeder and shooting straight at the rebels.  He was in range now, the enemies all spotting him at the same time, aiming their rifles and firing at Aphamos.  The shots were inaccurate, all five of them missing him.  Loosening his muscles, he raced towards the rebel in the center, the swoop heading straight towards him.  Almost naturally, only a split second before he would have collided with the soldier, he turned, the right side of his vehicle smashing into all five of the troopers.  They were each thrust back at least fifteen feet before they met the ground.  Five loud thumps were heard, almost consecutively, Marka slowly walking up next to Aphamos.

"Wow.  Nice man." he added, stunned by what he had just seen.  A few moments later, three speeders making their way ahead of Aphamos, slowing down to a complete stop.

"We are close." said Darr-Rann, who turned his speeder so it faced forward.  "There is another set of blast doors ahead of us, and then we get to the core."
