Okay, here is the thing,
My dad is blocking IRC with the firewall starting tommorow, java as well,
He is scared that we will get hacked, because it opens a port and yadayadata, and etc.
Now I understand why he is blocking Java, it ate our internet quota at a alarming rate, but IRC? This means, i will prolly not be online for a few months at least, maybe permanently offline till i get my own place, gah!
What should I do? -----------------------

Well, once he installs the firewall, why dont you just uninstall it?
Or your could beg and beg/blackmail him?
Im not sure, never had that problem myself, considering my parents dont even know how to turn on the computer. -----------------------

Lol, wont work, the firewall runs on a comp of its own supposedly, we share a connection,
the blackmail thing...it wont work,
btw, its kinda weird, my mom and dad bought their comps this year, and mine's about 4 years old now  -----------------------

find out what ports the firewall leaves open (it has to leave some open or you might as well not even pay for the internet) I beleive you can then tell IRC to connect on another port and it should work, I'm not 100% on that one though. A proxy server might help you too. -----------------------
