How does IRC WORK

Hey I am new here and was wondering what do I do to get the IRC thing to work. I have downloaded it and now do not know what to do. Can someone help me? Please.

Well, I see you on IRC now, so I guess that's solved. Now for you to learn some basic instructions:

*Jacen waves
/me waves

*Jacen is now known as JacenPreket
/nick JacenPreket

those are the two basic commands you would like to know. The others are simple, but you can look at all of the commands in IRC's help feature.
