I've been recruiting in certain game rooms lately and have found a problem. Too many people are unaware of the VE because our gaming status is alot lower than our activity with writing, IRC and the ComNet. I enjoy what the VE has to offer because of the balance of activity we can do, gaming, and writing. I think we should start playing into the gaming part of that activity more. If at all possible, let people know you're in the VE by having "VEMP_" in front of your name. This will make us more known to others, and not some weird clan just starting. The VE has been going for nearly 7 years, and we want people to know that.

That, in fact, was sarcasm.
As I was stating the other day to you, just because the wasteland formally known as the Zone has forgotten about us, does not mean we do not exist.
Most of our old-timers came to us from the Zone, where we were a good presence. That said, most gaming clans are a band of 13-year olds who: a) can't look at a girl without getting wood and drooling, b) can't speak English despite it being their only language, c) can't write a complete sentence without inserting l33t speak, and d) have the mental capacity of a crushed walnut.
We are a club, which implies we do more than 0wnz j00 @ JO.
Once again, don't let your perceptions get in the way of reality. Yes, we definitely *do* need to step up our gaming, but I could get a rat's ass if the clans out there know if we exist. -----------------------

Wow Fury, Congrats, you killed it 
but just so everyone knows, I'd like to clarify my post.
Those clubs that also write stories to continue on the SW's saga or otherwise, all know us because of our reputation of being good writers. I'm not saying we should label ourselves as a clan, because it would disturb me greatly if we did. I just want people to freak out when someone with a _VEMP_ in front of their name comes into a room. It doesn't matter to me that you "don't give a rats ass" about what others think of us as a club, but I want to see us as a club thats got game, not just one that has excellent writers. Gaming is one of my favorite hobbies, alongside writing. The reason I joined the VE first as Shocktech was because the club shared the same passions as I did, and I know others out there want that as well. So if we can up our game, get good reputation for fierce gamers, and recruit some talented troopers all at the same time, why not do it?

we dont, basicaly the Zone has gone to hell, while i've only been in this Club a few years i sat on the zone for ages before that and its current state is so depressing i dont even want to touch it, hence why non of the filth is on my system, and realy, how often dose anybody freak out becuas of the tag infront of your name? rarely. or atleast when i was around and it was usualy the name rather than the tag (TieFighterAce). the Zone is, for the most part, to paraphrase Fury, a place fro prepubesants to pretend to be badass 21 yearr olds who smoke pot all day and whoop [edit] ass while winning at JO becuase they can force grip people and drop them off the Nar Shaddaa walkways. ick, i feel dirty.

Like I said, it's not just the Zone, but all games in general. It could be BF1942, and I still play as _VEMP_Jakireth. It just helps the club in my opinion, I always get messages after a game of, well, anything to ask about the VE and how to join. things also set in more when they realize we arent a regular clan, or a clan at all for that matter, since you've all established a definition of one It might not mean anything to someone else, but when another person realizes they just got their ass kicked by someone in the VE, they want to join. It might just start out as a want to join just another clan (as I somewhat did), but when Riz (my first recruiter as Shocktech) started to explain things, my eyes literally lit up, knowing that I can finally excercise my two passions at once. Those of course being writing, and gaming. Thats mainly why I do it, to offer that chance to other people. It doesnt matter what you wish to prove, but to me, I dont look at losing as an option. So we come back to the same thing, you may not want to make yourself, and the VE known as good gamers, but I do, despite what most other groups and clans are composed of. -----------------------

eh, well nobody is stopping you from from playing and recruiting off the Zone, a good deal of us did come off of it, but getting a better name on the Zone isnt one of our priorities, we have other things to concentrate on. -----------------------

oh yes, those days, of course that was a little before i started, i started right around the time SPORK! came out. and then there was when the closest thing to SW MMORPG was drazen isle or ceasars palace with the latest version of SBX, and of course the BFP at somepoint before that, ah, i miss JK, i had more fun playing that on my 56k that i do playing anything now on my super-uber-fast wireless. -----------------------

Try XP's program compatibility wizard, it changed the setting for Starcraft for me, and worked fine. -----------------------

Back to the zone thing. That's a good point Jak. I know too many of our members that don't even wear the VEMP_ tag. Not that I'm encouraging you to mingle with the clans and such, BUT you should be wearing your tag. Show some sort of pride in your club. -----------------------
