Just got it today and seeing who else has it. (I know Japh does).

If we get enough people, we could eventually make a Guild. Could be fun.

Yeah, no monthly fee. They plan to put out an optional expansion about every 4-5 months though. Its also online-play only. Its very team-centric as there are many areas of the game that are essentially impossible to even travel through on your own. Its also very pvp-oriented. Max level is 20, and fairly easy to reach, though unlocking all the skills you'll want/need takes quite a bit of time.

It took me about 25 hours of play, but I also had help from my friends and I skipped from 15-20 through Ascension.

Its ment to be that way, really. A large part of the game is fine tuning your skill bar to be as good as it can be.

The max level of 20 is ment to be pretty low. Its there so that you can level your character and be ready to compete with the big kids in PvP.

As a side note the commands /age and /deaths give you the number of days, hours and minutes you've played and your total number of deaths.

I didn't say you could make weapons, just armor. The only good weapons are ones you find, and possibly upgrade. You will occationally get upgrade components from salvaging weapons, and these can be used to upgrade weapons you find that are actually worth upgrading (ie max damage weapons).

Early on it's tough to get anything worth while.

I got myself the best bow you can get in pre-scorch RP side and I'm a bit disapointed in it's performance compared to a theoreticly inferior sword for my Warrior/Ranger.

My take on the Warrior proffession:
So far I find the Sword and it's skills to be pretty devestating for dealing with living things.  Hammer and Axe will come in handy when dealing with undead/not fleshy things which won't come up as often in PvP but can still be pretty potent.

My take on the Ranger proffession thus far:
Go ahead and take it as a secondary, it adds some pretty good stuff even as a secondary but you are better off with any of the other five classes as your primary early on especially in the RP side of things.  There are some good powers in here but ranged combat seems a bit weak to me.

Just to go through and unlock stuff I also have a Messmer/Monk and a Necromancer/Elementalist.

Messmer/Monk can just lay some smack down thus far.  Not quite as brutal as what the Warrior/Ranger can do but it tends to be more survivable.

Necromancer/Elementalist.  If it were not for me going back through and finding a bunch of skills I had over looked I would have said this was probably my most over all effective character on the RP side of things.  The crowd control capability of this combination is phenominal early on.  It's actually so good that even though I was just trying to go after specific targets the area of effect drew other combatants into the frey and I still survived.  Can't quite lay out the same damage as the Messmer/Monk but it can do it to more people at once.  Quite handy even early on in the RP side of things.

I may have to just try yo go with one of the better pre-defined templates for the PvP stuff just so I can get something of a feel for the PvP side of things.

Though as I said before, early on it is tough going for Ranger as your primary as you really do not get that many skills that actually benefit from Expertise.

In PvP I have looked at the templates and they can do some seriously mean stuff.

Overall yes early on it is a bit rough but later on that Expertise can come in very handy.  If you want to play the RP and have a bit of patience then go for it.  I definately see potential in the class but the skills I've unlocked so far favor the Ranger as a rather good and solid secondary proffession early on.  I may come back to the Ranger as a primary later just so I can unlock more stuff for PvP.  Some of the Templates are already pretty good but none quite suit me right.

That means I get to grind out stuff on the RP side for a while longer.  A lot more enjoyable then SWG though.
