I don't think the bandwagon is much of an epidemic; fasion has been a curse for centuries. In the mid-1800's, women wouldn't want to get a tan, because only working-class women would be in the sun. So they drank watered-down lead to make themselves more pale. So. One of many such examples. How skirts and blouses evolved out of one-piece dresses is a funny story, but slightly off topic, so I'll save it for another time.
As for the whole sheep-love thing, a guy I used to work with from Perry county, PA, told me this little saying. Anyone who knows much of Perry county will understand:

Hey, yeah, I think I know how that goes. I can't do any of that modern crap, but after a lessons Victorian dancing seems to come natural.
The kind of waltzing everyone thinks of is the closed position, but I like teaching the girls the open position. That's where the couple holds hands and dances side by side. But there are neat little moves you can do, like pushing away and pulling together, turning away and turning towards, and spinning the lady. The girls like that, because they've never seen it before. The Spanish waltz is also fun, but more complex and reminds me of square dancing, in the way the couples are arranged. -----------------------

Soemtimes grace can be learned. I stumbled a good bit my first times, but after some practice I started to get the hang of it. I guess that probably holds true for almost anything, dancing, cars, video games, relationships, etc... -----------------------
