Discussion time. Is this fellow's article bullshit, partly bullshit, or so damn true it's scary and will correctly foretells the end of human life as we know it? I wish to receive the views of the mature and learnt members of the VE..

Well, everybody knows that oil is not a renewable resource. One fine day, and that day will come, we will not have a drop of oil on earth. The only way to counter this oh so dramatic situation is to depend on major alternative form of energy when that day comes.

When will that day come? I don't know. According to the site it's alot sooner than we take for granted for and not centuries away as some of us think.

Alot of people are saying we'll be driving solar powered cars by then but then again I have my doubts. But I have my doubts. Like. How the eff would you drive at night?

Can you imagine life without oil? Oh noes!!1

I have always thought that the human race is a reflexive, adaptable one, and it's true. But can we ever recover if the world is suddenly devoid of oil? Will we go back to the age of riding horses?

I always wanted a pony anyway.

There are alternate fuel sorces for cars that work at night, like natural gas powere cars.

Thing is with the huge oil conglomerates and our own human tendancy to trust what is put before us we probably won't put serious effort into converting to those alternate fuel sources for cars until there is a clear and impossible to cover up oil shortage.

Vote me for president and I'll put the military budget to work by ordering them to research and convert to a reliable and safe alternate fuel source, after then it will only be a matter of time before the general public begins to benefit from this as well.

if this was true it would've been in the governments best intrest to tell the people that the oil demand is starting exceed suply and start pushing alternate fuels, the people would of course start hoarding oil, but the more intellegent would start investing in alternate fuels, likely billions more dollars would go into alternate fuels and oil research, more people buying stuff that dosent use oil the less the demand the slower prices go down, possibly if more research is done to make these alternate fuels more cheaper, this could be avoided this is all kinda half-baked at the moment, i'll put more thought into it. and then if this guys full of crap who realy cares. personaly neccessity is the mother of invention so who knows?

kinda reminds me of Mad-Max.

I believe that the US is the leader in the exportation of natural gasses and solar power. Also, solar powered cars would be an awesome change, and we would be able to drive at night. Solar powered cars today have a deal where while driving in the day, they are charging up their batteries at the same time for night-drives.

Hell, they'd even be better than electric cars, because then we wouldn't have to stop at some electric pump to recharge our car. There may be the occassional stop at a battery recharger for solar powered vehicles, but I believe that those batteries can last for some time.

I agree that there are other sources of fuel for example there is also hydrogen powered cars which is essentially water just broken down. That would be invaluable they could probably make the cars so that it would have the machine that breaks up the water molecules (sorry forgot the name) built in so you would just have to pour water in the tank and drive. Thats what they use for the space program except instead of the hydrogen I think they use the oxygen or both.

Also if they could use that in the military it would be of great use because you would just have to put water in the tank instead of shipping just fuel for vehicles they could ship more water and have the water for personnel and the vehicles. So I guess that could be a good choice for alternate fuel.

for the sake of argument they guy did say neither water (hydrogen) or solar power put out as much energy as gas, therfore the human race will rely on what it knows is good : Gas. also, there is a thing to consider with hydrogen, explosion, gas will explode to, but if i remember right hydrogen is just a bit more unstable and more likely to explode, or easyer to make explode.
