In Iowa... We have a bit of a transition type thing... We start out at Younkers or Penny's, then we either move up to Gap or Old navy, maybe both, or maybe just stay at either Younkers or Pennys but move up age. Then after that we move up to American Eagle or the Buckle. But I suppose if your a bit more classy you go to Exprees Men/Woman or the Banana Republic. Banana Republic and the Gap arn't the same here my friends... No sirey... They are more expensive, but they sell better quality and a larger selection of clothing as well. The have the Pea Coats which should give you a basic idea of the clothing there... The gap sells a slightly different style of Pea coat, I can't appreciate them as much. This is what I get from my brother Joe who just so happens to be some kind of grammar guru. He could actually tell you more about fasion then alot of accesorist or clothers... Clothers... That really doesn't sound right... Oh well... -----------------------

chipmunk you just defined Abercrombie. GAP is one of 3 chains owned by Gap Inc. (old navy and banana republic are the others.) ANd however much you want to *against* name brand clothes, a lot of times they ARE better quality. I have gap khakis that i bought like 6 years ago that still look brand new. so save the "have to wear name brand clothes to be accepted" spiel -----------------------

Also, the reason it's more expensive is the fact that the material they use is stronger, more efficient, and less drainable. If you shop from somewhere like American Eagle, they sell you high quality clothing that looks good too. And they like to stay away from the "Real Prep" look. There clothing is meant to both feel and look comfortable. Good store. -----------------------

You can buy designer clothing at no name stores for sometimes half the price if not cheaper. Reason being, they mass produce the clothing, but sew a designer label on it in order to increase the price. You can buy non designer label clothing at cheap clothing stores and sometimes get the exact same piece of clothing you could at the gap for some outrageous price. And it is the same quality. -----------------------
