Before you make me say something real blunt (because, I owe you absolutely NOTHING), let me state that I spoke in generalizations. I wasn't stamping out commandments into a hunk of stone. So, seeing as you wish to discredit me by squeezing my words into a narrow mindset, allow me to return the favor.
There ARE more than just rich white guys in the GOP. There are also more than dead-beat, uneducated, gay minorities in the Democratic party, despite anything YOU may be trying to mislead people on. And rich Democrats are not all spoiled sports and movie stars like you wish to claim.
Last I checked, my entire family was a bunch of hard workers as are most of our friends and colleagues. Are you claiming we are deadbeat welfare recipients?
Let us check this:
"Oh, I also forgot about those hundreds or thousands of music, sports, and movie stars that are liberal and of many races. There are plenty of rich people in America that aren't white. I find that what Fury said is an excuse for people not to work hard. Is it really hard to do well in school, get to a good college and get a good job? I dont think so, just requires some effort that people dont want to give."
Yeah, I think you are. Either that or I apparently play in the NBA. I HAVE done well in school, I HAVE gone to a good college and have had good jobs. I HAVE put the effort in. So have many, many others I know.
Yes, Michael Powell appears to be a very centered, family friendly black man who is in charge of the FCC and does not make a lot of money as a civil servant. He is also dictating morality but in many cases I seem to agree with him on his narrow view of national television issues. That's why we have cable at my place.
He is one example. A poster child at worse, a single success story at best. He is not your average Republican administrator. You don't believe me? Name me a prominent non-white GOP congressman (current or recent) other than J.C. Watts. Just off the top of your head, no Google. If you have thought of one, you know more about the members of Congress than I do. This is a party that runs anti-black campaigns (Jesse Helms), hides mixed race children (Strom Thurmond), has KKK members in the party (David Duke) and I could go on all day if I tried really hard. Never mind the abortion bomb funders (Ralph Reed) and the gay bashers (Bush on down if you have watched any news program in the past 24 hours).
No party has a majority of people who pulled themselves up by their bootstraps and didn't basically sell their souls to get where they are. But for people who at least speak a good line about giving a damn about women, minorities, working people, and the poor...well, it ain't your party of choice Vukan.
What I was laughing at, before you attempted to twist my words and discredit me in the process, was the laughable concept of trusting corporations and private groups with a slant (trust me, few religious organizations willingly give to avowed atheists without an agenda - and who could blame them? That's their job.) with things most progressive, industrial nations do very well with their own governments.
Oh, btw, Solomon Smith Barney PURPOSELY has departments that cater to "non-traditional" investors. I have friends in the mortage and investments areas too, you nincompoop. They hire according to their investor model; which, incidentally, is why some of my friends work for them and not for other firms.
As for: "Dont give me that bull about being white, I have met very few people who will discriminate against black or hispanic people." You are either living in a VERY, VERY progressive world, or in a fantasy land of your own creation. Discrimination goes on every day. Hell, there are stories everywhere of "hidden" racism in home loans, car deals, people being profiled in airports, WalMart, Dennys. If you have never seen racism in action, then good for you. But don't think your experience is indicative of the way the United States currently operates.
As for getting an education when you don't have a dime. Yeah, you can get one. But you have to put yourself in hock now as ol' Bush ripped the hell out of the AmeriCorps program so people can't volunteer to improve their communities in return for said education.
Oh, btw, Denver is not Detroit, LA, Houston, Cincy, NYC, Boston, or DC. And drop the illusion you
ever truly lived in an inner city. Otherwise, I guarantee you
would have seen the racism you say does not exist.
