I just bought this game last night, at it installed fine. However, when I launch the game, after the small Battle Field 1942 screen goes off, the screen goes black, then it goes back to the desktop.
Also, when I downloaded the patch so I can play online, but no matter where I get the patch it says that the file is corrupted. This is the same thing that happend to the Tribes 2 updates I downloaded before my registry got annihalted. -----------------------

Are you sure you have the correct requirements for the game? Mine did that with my old graphic card until I bought my new one, and poof... all fixed. Could be that or inot the newest Direct X version.
If its an intel card -> http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/intel810/sb/CS-004023-prd798.htm
if its nvidia or another, check their sites or the main bf1942 site on this.

Look at the other general System Requirements. The game runs really choppy if I set it on High Graphics, and I have a 2 gig computer with 256 RAM.
The issue could be with the graphics card, but check to make sure your comp can handle it as well.
I believe that there are some graphics cards that it won't accept. I'm not exactly sure about that, though. -----------------------

I cant run anything in the game. It says there are known problems with Geforce2, but thats not what I have. -----------------------

your registry is probably screwed with age. How long have you had your computer?????
If its new and you have problems with other games, your card might be knackered or something -----------------------

well, I suppose the registry is relivtily new, because I had to reinstall windows and start from scratch. I bought my video card last summer. Ive had the computer for almost two years.

Try updating to directx 9 if its a problem with your DX8 then it should be fixed or a currupt file overwriten. -----------------------

I've never had a problem with games I couldn't run in XP. Even if I did, I could find DOS out there without a problem for free, install it on a 200 meg partition and game the hell out of old games all I wanted. XP is so much better than ME that its also worth not playing your older games. -----------------------

The only game i haven't been able to run on XP is Simcity 3000 first edition.
All my other old games and things work just change the .exe compatability to win95 or 98 -----------------------
