I'm gonna agree with most of DarkHawk's choices.
Now in no particular order...
The Walking Drum - Louis L'Amour (I like most of his non-westerns)
Nature's End - Strieber/Kunetka
Lonesome Dove series - Larry McMurtry
Foucault's Pendulum - Umberto Eco
The Mars series - Kim Stanley Robinson
Chung Kuo series - David Wingrove
Continuing Time novels - Daniel Keys Moran
Night - Elie Weisel
Breakfast of Champions - Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
and various works by the following authors:
Tom Clancy (Hunt for Red October comes to mind)
Clive Barker (particularly Imagica and Weaveworld)
Neil Gaiman (especially Good Omens and American Gods)
...and now I'm drawing a blank as well. ----------------------- CMP CMDR/MAJ Fury/1CMP/1BAT/1RGT/VEA/TADATH/VE [SotE:HC][SotE:VEA][IOC]

Part of it? I read the whole d*mn series(still have it...). Not great books, but they get you into the world of Fantasy. Personally, I prefer Sci-Fi(even though Fantasy is still great) because it resembles what I want the future to be through my addition to mankind Can't believe I forgot the "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", though I've only been able to find the first Luckily, being non-religious, I have no need to feel ashamed of not putting the Bible, Torah, or Koran. One thing I've always wondered, if they swore me in, would they do it with the Bible or could I request "The Art of War"? Holy $h*t!!! If forgot to add that to my list!!! I'm getting so forgetfull... ----------------------- Argon Viper

You mean the chronicles of narnia? I was raised on those. They were wonderful when I was a six year old. I admit my taste has matured since then...
I didn't add the scripture or the Art of War or the book of five rings to my list because it didn't seem right to me to add my sacred texts to such a list (wait, why did I add The Prince then? I HAVE SINNED BEFORE THE LORD!)
Oh well, in that case: The sacred texts
The Bible
The Art of War
The Lost Art of War
The Book of Five Rings
And some more I forgot
Accidental Empires
The Big Bang Never Happened
The hole in the ozone scare: Scientific proof that the sky isn't falling
Janes Fighting ships
