Who saw it? I give it a 9 out of 10, simply due to the fact they messed up Faramir's character and they had Aragorn tumble off of a cliff. However, they nailed Gollum and Sam in this one. Plus, I have to say the Battle at Helm's Deep was terrific. ----------------------- Rear Admiral Riel Fury

well...seeing as how I haven't read the books yet... (doing that because I don't want to be let down when I see the movies because the books were better) I had no clue how faramir was supposed to turn out. Friends say he was to cold and not "good" enough. I presonally not reading the books feel that he didn't have a whole lot of screen time to acurately portray the character to its fullest. Last scene of him we see him giving up the ring I believe this is where we will start to see the true character come out...which will be in the third movie. so....
once again coming from not reading the books yet I liked this one much better then the first one. It had no hang time because now they are playing the characters instead of introducing them... action was fantastic...lot of new "shots" with gollum that were really cool...
So I give it a 10 out of 10!!!

Well, if you're super picky, theres quite a bit of divergence from the book here. But really, who cares? It was so cool. I mean... It was... like, neat and stuff. Like... me.
Anyway. Ents? Yeah! Gollum? Very well done! Faramir? Eh... I agree that he wasn't quite "good" enough. He was supposed to be less like Boromir and more like Aragorn in regards to his actions concerning the Ring.
There were a few bluescreen shots that were INCREDIBLY blatent, and almost made me cringe, but the rest of the movie was unbelieably pretty. I mean, it gets you to suspend disbelief to the point that, by the end, I had forgotten that Gollum was computer generated.
My rating? 9 of 10, mostly for nitpicky bits, but the sheer AWESOMEness of it makes it back up ----------------------- Rear Admiral Japheth Cappadocious, Krath Priest

I'm going to jump on the bandwagon and agree with everything that Riel and Japheth said. I thought Legolas and Gimli were done well, too, on top of Sam and Gollum.
If not for Faramir, I would have been content, but his resemblance to Boromir makes me give the movie a 9 out of 10.
On a side not, I'd also like to give the extended version of TFOTR a 9 out of 10, too ... just saw it the other day and I think it's really awesome. Makes me anxious to watch the extended TTT. ----------------------- ADJ:NTO/FM/COM Darkhawk/Kaph 3-4/Phoenix Wing/mSSD Atrus/DEF/VEN/VE/(=A=)(=SA=)(=JCPA=)(=SCPA=)(=FCO=)[LoC][LSM][BRC][MC:1st][CBV*][VC:Ebony][KC:oc]

Oh, an excelent point about Gimli and Legolas. Gimli in particular was awesome, he had some great one-liners, and also I think was a pretty good representation of dwarves as a whole, in my opinion (based on the books, mostly the Hobbit which features dwarves extensivly) ----------------------- Rear Admiral Japheth Cappadocious, Krath Priest

The movie was good, if you don't compare it to the book. I would give it a 7.5 out of 10 due to the fact that I think too much was changed that didn't need to be. I understand making drastic changes for time constraints and to make the story fit together with those time constraints, but there were simply too many unnecesary changes in my opinion.
Yes, the action was great, and most of the characters were nailed dead on, but the addition and deletion of sveral key elements irk me. For example: the addition of the elves and the ommtion of Eomer at Helm's deep. I can sort of understand the elves coming to help and that doesn't really bother me too much, but Helm's Deep is where Eomer defines himself as a leader fo men and the future king of Rohan. Another major peave was, as many others have said, Faramir. He is supposed to depict the potential strength in men when all others seem to be corrupt and weak minded. Also the addition of Osgiliath and Frodo attempting to give the ring to one of the wraiths upset me. Faramir also did not give them the gifts that prove to be helpful in their long journey to Mordor.
Finally the ending, or lack there of. It ended in the exact same fashion and TFOTR. Sam and Frodo walking to Mordor as the rest of the Fellowship, minus Merry and Pip, say what's going to happen in the beginning of the next movie. The second installment of a trilogy is supposed to end in a more susspensful manner with the heroes in grave peril. The book ended this way and I couldn't wait to read ROTK to find out how they were going to survive the dangers they had stumbled into. For the last 15 minutes of the movie I was upset because I could tell it was going to end on a low note and not leave me yearning for more as it should have. One of the reasons that Empire is so great is because you don't know where all the characters are at the end and you don't know if they're safe. Han get's carried of in carbonite and Chewie and Lando fly off at the end to save him. Also it leaves you with the feeling that the enemy, the Empire in this case, has won and is about to put the nail in the coffin so to speak. That's the feeling you get at the end of the book and lack at the end of the movie. Thus ends my complaining and bear in mind that I did like the movie as a whole, give or take a few parts, and I'm gonna go see it again. ----------------------- TRP/PFC Drogo/3SQD/2PLT/1COM/1BAT/1RGT/VEA/

Twin, you are a nitpick. The exclusion of Eomer in the battle of helm's deep was necessary unless they were to include an entirely different character, whom is not very important to the whole. This way, the cast is smaller and on the whole it would make more sense for those not familiar with the books.
Plus, how can you say walking to Mordor as ending the movie on a low note? Hmm... the stronghold of Sauron's power... Yeah, what kind of bs ending is that. They should be sitting around smoking pipes. ----------------------- Rear Admiral Riel Fury

And The Empire Strikes Back didn't exactly leave the Rebels in grave peril. Aside from Han begin frozen, things seem to be looking up - and Lando and Chewie are on their way to remedy that. They knew nothing of the Death Star, so the fight against the Empire was going about as well as it had been, minus losing Hoth. Overall, the end of ESB is far less suspenseful than that of The Two Towers. In my opinion, at least. ----------------------- ADJ:NTO/FM/COM Darkhawk/Kaph 3-4/Phoenix Wing/mSSD Atrus/DEF/VEN/VE/(=A=)(=SA=)(=JCPA=)(=SCPA=)(=FCO=)[LoC][LSM][BRC][MC:1st][CBV*][VC:Ebony][KC:oc]

Hmm.... which is the better ending? Sam and Frodo munching on lembas as they stroll through Ithilien, or Frodo bitten by Shelob and carried off by some orcs to cirith ungol in the land of Mordor. That's a tough one.....
I can't wait to see how much lembas they eat in ROTK!!!

Well, I'll go to someone else for movie critiques. It was a necessary move to make the third movie in the trilogy have something other than the battle at Minas Tirith and Frodo getting rid of the ring. Perhaps PJ knew what he was doing? What did PJ know...
And I would give TTT 9 out of 10 only because of the minor differences (Gandalf saying when he would return). Personally I think the ending was fine and the best parts were Helm's Deep and Gollum fighting himself. ----------------------- TRP/LCP JR/3SQD/2PLT/1COM/1BAT/1RGT/VEA/VE[LoR]

Personally I thought the movie was amazing, read the books... I expected there to be some differences, as there are in all movies, so I went into this movie open minded, expecting to be entertained and not to critque the movie and I enjoyed it so much, amazing, I couldnt stay in my seat... I dont know how many times I jumped up or yelled (amazing since I knew everyone would be all-right) loved it.. all I can say is how am I supposed to wait a whole year for the next one! I cant take it! Anyone up for watching all three in a row when they come out??? hopefully they will have bathroom breaks.

I thought it was good, especially the final battle scene and gandalf. I may have felt differently if I had read the books, but I haven't, so, blah. ----------------------- -----------------------Lance Corporal Swomz----------------------
