I believe golf is a sport.... Jubei: golfers are not atheletes. thats why old men play golf. **Their are also old men in tennis, hockey and some football players are old men too.** And it is not only that it's okay for it to be a sport when the only fit old men that play those sports are...the old men that play golf are obviously fit enough to walk several kilometres with their golf bags over their backs (except for those lazy people who use golf carts, but that's a different issue). Golf is about perfecting your swing...controlling your attitude and being in good enough shape to not stiffen up and be unable to complete the swing. How is swinging a golf club any different from swinging a baseball bat...take away the unknown place the baseball will be and add the control and accuracy that it takes to not hook or slice the ball off into the woods. BTW, sychronized swimming is NOT a sport.

Ahem, the unknown place the baseball will be AND the velocity at which it is coming at you, the type of pitch being thrown, the position of fielders and possibly any of your team on base, the pitcher you are facing, the inning in which you are playing, the score, the turf, your latest good or bad streak, how many games up or back your team is in the standings.... Sure, it's the same thing really   ----------------------- XO/LTC Fury/VEA/TADATH/VE [PoC][SotE:HC][SotE:VEA][IOC] Company Commander Shopkeeper - Imperial Center

Golf is *MUCH* different from baseball....i don't see a guy running across the field to catch a golfball....no, they calmly walk to wherever the hell their ball landed. and yes, i truly have played a round, and i worked up more of a sweat playing chess than i did lugging around that "oh so heavy" *cough*sarcasm*cough* golf bag holy crap, i carry that much, if not more, around each and every day at school. get a real sport, one that'll make you sweat. as far as i'm concerned if golf's a sport, you might as well induct chess into the sport's league too. pansies.

Let's see adding up the ten minute breaks and the half hour for lunch and the twenty minutes a day to walk to and from the buss stop, I've carried 60lbs(I've weighed my school bag) for a grand total of one hour and fourty minutes a day, five days a week for 180 days. Golfers carry a bag that weighes at most 20lbs for about(considering that it's actually on the ground about half the time)two hours once a week.  Then there are the caddies who actually carry that instead of the golfer, though indeed most golfer do carry thier bag. Before I had a car it was a little unnussual for me to walk a few miles a day. Once again Golfers only ussually do this once a week. I managed to make about $100 dollars a summer selling golfballs that fell in our yard back to passing golfers(I used to live next door to the six and seven holes of a golf course), charging $0.25(US) a ball. I'm willing to call golf a sport but at the same time I'm also saying that if they were lucky enough to find the ball after they hit it they should stop while they are ahead.

What's wrong with dancers? And anything that has a competition is a sport.

There is nothing wrong with dancing, but I disagree completely that anything that has competition is a sport.  I am an avid gamer, and I often compete with other gamers.  That does not make gaming a sport.  Eating contests, Jeopardy, all have a lot of competition, but in no way are they sports.
