Continuation of a poll I just put up. Why the Vast Empire fall apart?

Not the actual behind-the-scenes or in-full-display personality issues. How to explain it? Kind of a kicker to create/recreate the world we played in so maybe folks can write a story or two around it.

Bioweapon?  Bad bantha chili dogs?  What makes sense? What makes NONsense?

I have thoughts but, hell, I'd love to see what you are all thinking. Who the hell says what I say goes?

It was definitely a combination of too many Kath milk and bantha dogs mixed with bad decisions and instant regret.

The rise of a new religious cult that started at high command whereby VE forces went hunting for ancient relics throughout the galaxy which each contained crazy unwieldy power that the VE tried to weaponize which backfired and destroyed most of the fleet.

The VE's inability to get out of its own way. The Vast Empire fell because it wasn't vast, and barely an empire. The VE fell because the leadership was removed from the day to day functioning, the administrative tasks, required to keep an empire going. It would have been nice, easy even, if another force had pushed it to the brink, but mostly, that didn't happen. What happened was the VE overreached and supply lines fell apart. The EEC did what it could to compensate, but it wasn't enought. At the same time, the DJO members had to retreat to fight, and mostly lose, their own war.

We lost, we failed. We can't change that, but perhaps we can find and bind what remnants there are together, to start again.

THAT is a great Storm Commando/Stealth Scout armor!
Just had to say...

My Theory?
Dark Jedi Civil War was the beginning of the end.
Then, the Thrawn-loyalists made their move(s)...

We advance the timeline a bit to where Thrawn is consolidating power & gathering resources, but months away before revealing himself to the New Republic.
