Physical Description
Remmel Haark has a medium build with a muscular tone and is easily recognized by his green eyes contrasted by dark hair. He is well kempt, keeping hair trimmed and arranged, and is usually always clean shaven. His off duty clothing usually consists of a well-made black tunic and pants, leather field jacket, and his multi-use utility belt. Remmel Haark’s general manner can clearly be seen in his posture and the way in which he carries himself. He tries to keep any intense emotion off his face, making him unreadable to others around him. One of the only identifying marks is a red tattoo of a Kyrat Dragon Claw on his left forearm. It was given to him during his initiation into the Blue Star merchant fleet.
Personality
Remmel Haark was greatly successful in various ventures from a young age due to his determination and natural abilities. He is considered highly focused at whatever task he is given. He is slightly a perfectionist which sometimes makes failure very painful for him. He was raised in an elitist imperial family and holds in high esteem his heritage and culture. Remmel is described as extremely confident, almost arrogant, by his peers. His closer associates however know that he is extremely loyal and patient with those he serves. Remmel generally doesn’t show outbursts of emotions, positive or negative, and believes that balance is essential to accomplishing any task.
Character’s Background
Remmel was born 8 BBY on the Imperial core world of Rendili to the house of Haark. Remmel’s prestigious lineage includes his grandfather, Ricaud Haark, who served as Arch-Provost (regional governor) of their planet for some time and Remmel’s father, Valin Haark, was founder of the Blue Star Independent Merchant Fleet (BSIMF) based out of Rendili. Valin Haark was eventually recruited by the Empire and became a well renowned Imperial starship captain during the rise and fall of the New Order. Remmel’s mother, Cyn Haark, was a brilliant economist and ran the general operations of the BSIMF. She primarily based herself on Rendili and their shipyards. Remmel Haark is an only child.
Remmel Haark was born at the height of the Empire’s power and was able to observe the war through various aspects and viewpoints in his family. From a young age Remmel was sent to the most prestigious technical schools in the capital district of Rendili. There, Remmel learned the ins and outs of starship operations.
At 4 BBY, the fall of Endor, the Haark family was instantly divided. His father, Captain of the ISD Avenger II, was assigned a vital mission during the Endor campaign and was lost in action after the critical battle of Endor. No word was heard back from him and Remmel Haark remained on Rendili to expand his independent career.
When Remmel was old enough he joined the Naval Prep-College on Rendil and graduated with honors from his class at the early age of 15. Unfortunately, he was caught in the political cross-fire of his father’s ideals and those of his mother, who both shared very distinct views of the old empire and the new republic that was now controlling most of the core worlds. Remmel felt that the Empire was the only true source of stability to their homeworld. Under New Republic rule political and economic chaos seemed to be the mainstay atmosphere. After he graduated Rendili Naval-Prep school he joined the family owned business, the BSIMF. With the Blue Stars he was charged with general operations of some of the largest bulk freighters in the galaxy and even was successful in several defense operations for their caravans. They made freight runs through the galactic deep core, colony regions, the outer rim, and even unknown space. Their operational sphere allowed Remmel to see the galaxy and learn about various culture while honing his naval expertise.
After one of the BSIMF’s supply runs near the Bakura system Remmel’s freight convoy encountered a deep space emergency beacon emanating from an unknown system in the unknown regions. It was deeper into unknown space than most of the crews were willing to venture. Remmel however used his seniority within the caravan and pushed forward to respond to the beacon and respond to the distress signal. The caravan arrived at a planet named Tadath in the Sian system during a localized geothermal disaster. For some unknown interference with the beacon they weren’t able to transmit to their own local forces, instead it was reflected out into surrounding systems, including the Bakura system.
Remmel Haark participated in the evacuation of nearly a thousand resource and ore miners in the southern part of the planet. They were all safely returned to one of the central systems of their local government and was given a commendation. There he was contacted by his father who was currently residing in the Rheagent system. After the battle of Endor he had fled to the unknown regions, following an Imperial remnant known as the “Vast Empire.” Not sure of his feelings or the path he would take, Remmel decided to return to Rendili to sort out his personal affairs and safely return the crew of his convoy.
While returning to his homeplanet, Remmel was contacted by Coruscant Authorities that his mother was killed. The official report of her death stated that while on orders from the New Republic to return a large shipment of old Imperial arms from Rendili to Coruscant her freighter was attacked right outside of Coruscant space. Her ship was targeted by an extremist “Anti-Imperial” terrorist movement. Mistakenly identifying her ship as hauling illegal imperial supplies they destroyed her freighter, killing her and her crew. Of course, New Republic forces supposedly condemned such actions by extremist groups near Coruscanti space. Remmel knew though that such a blatant lack of control of local space around Coruscant would never be permitted under Imperial rule, and his mother’s death was really the result of the weak and corrupt government of the New Republic.
Nothing left for him on his home world and disillusioned by the New Republic, Remmel Haark decided to uproot his family’s resources from Rendili and leave to Cepany in the Vast Empire.
The Haark stronghold estates on Cepany were established shortly after and a large chuck of the Blue Star Merchant Fleet, loyal to the House of Haark, was integrated into the Vast Empire.
Remmel decided it was time to follow in his father’s footsteps and further his Naval Career. He joined the VENA to serve in fleet command as an Imperial officer for the Vast Empire.
Thus his story begins…
