Yes, but Hades. This doesn't change the fact that these have been used before anyway in stories.  Just because there's no Latin alphabet in Star Wars doesn't mean these can't and aren't used. I'm glad this discussion got started, because while the Latin Alphabet does in fact exist in Star Wars, I still bristle when I hear Earth words in a Star Wars setting. Obviously, Aurebesh is rubbish for a cool-sounding military phonetic alphabet, since the words all sound the same (Cresh, Besh, Thesh, etc.), but I still think we can do better than Zulu, Yankee, November, India, and some of those others...
It's the same thing with the use of Greek letters in the prequels (and original films, now that I think of the "Lambda-class" shuttle). Man, that hits my pet-peeve, dead center...
Anyway, I know I'm weird, but maybe it's worth coming up with a military phonetic alphabet that's still functional, but that's thoroughly divorced from any real-world-specific terminology?
I gather that hasn't been the way it's been done in some VE stories, Skarr. But who's to say we can't keep getting better as time goes on? And isn't getting closer to the spirit our chosen setting - a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away - the same thing as "getting better"?

Well hell, it is pretty good that this conversation came up. Perhaps we could come up with our own. I'd vote for keeping it A-Z for the purposes of making it easier. But just adapting it to the Star Wars universe. A-E is usually the ones I'd use, so I'm not sure if we'd keep those the same or not.
