English is my first (and really only) language. However I learned Spanish in school though German was my first choice. The classes were full for every language except Spanish so I took two years of it.... and promptly forgot all of it >.>

I had taught myself some German at one point, but I am sad to say that I don't remember much of anything.

For the record I'm sure that was grammatically incorrect.... and probably horribly so. I need to teach myself again.

Let's see... English, chunks of Latin and Mexican Spanish, and I taught myself Ewok at one point.

Oh, and I'm working on a language from scratch.

i also have at my disposal several dozen superfluous words and phrases in languages such as French, Latin, Italian, German, Georgian, Russian...Chinese...Slovenian... <_<

Like all English people I am safe in the knowledge that by shouting loudly and slowly anyone on the continent will understand me.

Well of course anyone on the continent will understand you... most people here speak English!

The laughing was kind of what I was going for, but why don't you want to talk to me ever again?

Is it so we can communicate exclusively in body language? 

Well, growing up in England, naturally learnt English as my first tongue. Then I learnt French in school (as well as a bit of Russian, Japanese, Spanish and Latin. Yes: Latin.), and moved to a French speaking country (Senegal), where I learnt German, a bit of Wolof and Saffi (local languages) and Quenya (Tolkien's High Elven, which we used to send secret messages in class). Then I started RPing sometime after that, and taught myself Mando'a. I also went out to Nicaragua on a mission trip (to build a school in a swamp), where my Spanish suddenly improved.

Currently, however, my languages have degraded somewhat. So in order of knowledge:

1. English
2. Deutsch
3. Francais
4. Mando'a
5. Espanol
6. Japanese (having a girlfriend who uses it all the time (even though she's British), and studying Ninpo Taijutsu, helps)
7. Latin
8. Saffi
-  Wolof
10. Quenya
11. Russian

And don't worry if you shout loudly and slowly enough, even those people in Europe who don't speak english will be able to understand you. Fact.

I actually  used to be able to speak German fairly well, it's a piece of piss to learn. It has mostly left my memory from 12 years of disuses.

(Despite working with many German academics, English is generally used over there as the language for research)

And I shouldn't be surprised that Gur's list is hella long. And that apparently the number 9 doesn't exist in his language...

Both Saffi and Wolof are at number 8. But that means I can't have a number 9, because Wolof takes up that slot, even though it is a number 8.

I can say that I'm quite possibly the lease knowledgeable one here when it comes to languages. I don't think I really have the mind for languages, even though I've conquered a stupidly contradictory language like English. Obviously, English is my first language. And that's about it, haha. I took four years of Spanish in high school, but surprisingly little of it stuck with me. For a little while, I was going to learn Mando'a, but the practical implications of knowing it were few.
