Having written up a little about the factions the DJO has been dealing with in stories behind closed doors, I thought I'd put out the notion of writing some cross divisional stories.
We've been throwing this around for a while and I thought it would be worth opening up a discussion on the topic.
The general idea would be 1-2 members of the DJO writing as their character with maybe 5-10 people.
There would need to be some strict guidelines, for example each DJO member would need to put up a brief bio at the start and then army/navy members would have to be very careful about describing the actions of the DJO members in-story.
A few ideas had been floating around which I'll outline below:
Navy. Trykon has ownership of this one.
1)
The DJO are currently officially cut off from all VE military support, due to the Reborn Jedi infiltrating VE political systems, High Command and all levels of military structure. The DJO home ship needs a crew, and is missing components and requires rearming.
A few Dark Jedi work with members of the Navy - perhaps VENI would be suited to this task - and remove Reborn influence from the navy. They must also seek out a crew for the DJO vessel, and get it re-equipped.
2)
A few elite Jedi pilots work with Naval pilots on a mission deep behind enemy lines. The Jedi's prescient abilities will be crucial in allowing the small force to work their way behind an opposing fleet and strike at a research station / something important.
Army Garryll Gates has ownership of this one.
1)
As of yet, the Reborn have been focusing largely on the DJO, thanks to their previous history and constant fighting. The DJO must open the field to include new enemies for the Reborn in order to gain the upper hand. This involves incriminating them in an attack on the New Jedi Order on a Republic world.
The best way is to hit the Jedi where it hurts: in supposedly secure training facilities. Very few Jedi will be able to tell the difference between a Reborn and a Dark Jedi, and trainees and their masters make a tempting target. Too, the Jedi would think it unlikely that their ‘allies’ would make a strike against them. This presents the perfect oppurtunity.
A handful of Dark Jedi with combat experience and likely from the Eagles will make the bold strike with Stormtrooper support, emphasizing the Imperial-ness and brash attack of the Reborn.
-The goals are to raze most of the facility, and eliminate as many of the Masters and upper-level trainees as possible
-Leave as little incriminating evidence behind, but for some eye witnesses which will be tricked with the type of attack.
2)
I'm thinking of a WW2 russian winter / Enemy at the Gates theme. A bit similar to Thyveck when we threw the squads into the shit and asked em to build the situation around themselves.
Battling Thrawn's forces on some made up world. Urban combat rages across the biggest city on the world as our heavily outnumbered forces bunker down and this world's remarkably harsh winter closes in. (Again, think siege of stalingrad).
The city is regularly bombarded and AT-STs occasionally prowl through the rubble trying to finish us off. Orders come in that we have taken our final supply and have to hold the city until winter breaks. Our forces tenaciously hold their positions in fierce building to building combat.
This is where we start the story, let the squads have a few opening posts explaining their personal situation and let them get a feel for things. Describing the ever increasing cold and lack of supplies.
Soon Thrawn sends Reborn Jedi in to try and break to stand-off. At this point we can have 1-2 Jedi of our own assisting the squads, the Dark Jedi may not directly deal with the reborn jedi, but can do things like pathfinding etc.
