The story features Tuk'ata Squadron and the Brilliant, and should cover all Starfighter Corps personnel with the exception of DeepSix (Deep, see the other discussion thread).

Absolutely!  I just finished reading Of Warriors and Men, and I love the character, and the potential for a recurring, mid-level villain.  You may absolutely work him into Pestilence, with my enthusiastic support!  Just make some allowances for verisimilitude: if he DOES show up again, there should be a REASON, beyond simple coincidence.

I'm all for it!  Maybe don't start the story with it, but it's a good addition, mid-way through, or perhaps near the end to add spice!

Alright, I've posted again -- just some CD and realising Scral's not aboard, as well as acknowledging your new NPC.

Comments on the NPC? I love the idea, Trick! I can just imagine the constant jibes eventually getting to boiling point and ending in someone getting hurt, as well as the ambition to do better than Dire-cat squadron!

This story is going to be FUN, and something tells me it's going to be shiny-producing like no other... but only for those who join in! 

Alright, my post is up. Hades has now met Joamer and Brightstar -- tension is high between them, but not nearly as high as the tension between Hades and Av'Vast, who rather dislikes being played pranks on. /me looks pointedly at Maroy

I'm sorry to jump in before you guys get a chance to post more action, but my trip is rapidly approaching, and I needed to introduce the plot twist that will allow my player-character to step aside for a while.  Sorry too, that the post is so short: my time is running out. 

Okay!  The inspiration for this one is unabashedly the ninth book in the X-Wing series of Star Wars novels, The Starfighters of Adumar.  For those unfamiliar, the premise is essentially this: there's a lost colony of the Old Republic (Adumar in the book, Kammlott here), whose human denizens are nonetheless quite alien, in that their culture has developed outside the Galactic mainstream for centuries.  They are strategically valuable (in the book, they have a big explosives industry, while here it's mostly their proximity to the Vectra System, along with an unspecified allusion to reserves of resources), so big powers in the Galaxy try to curry favor with them or even incorporate them (the Imperials and New Republic in the book, here it's the VE and the Imperial Dominion).

The plan - which, again, has gotten smushed a little bit with timing, so sorry about that - is that my character will be forced to represent the Vast Empire, in order to negotiate with the planetary authorities.  In the book, rebellion hero Wedge Antilles has to go to Adumar because Adumar values fighter pilots (pretty weird premise, but hey, it got published); for this story, my character has to go to Kammlott because Kammlott values authority (much more general, but I intend for it to be much more obsessive-compulsive with them than the Adumari's love of pilots), and as the ranking officer present, it really HAS to be Trykon.

The Brilliant (and Tuk'ata) will continue on their mission, scouting as much of the "Secondary Route" - the invasion route that the Imperial Dominion used to invade our space - as they can.  My character will stay behind, in-story, to match wits against the Imperial Dominion representative for the hearts and minds of the Kammlotti (a story that I may very well write at some point, after I come back from my Europe trip).  You all will evaluate the Secondary Route's potential for a counter-invasion, and seek the top-secret bio-chemical weapons laboratory that VENI suspects the Imperial Dominion maintains, the location of which remains unknown to the VE (the story is called Pestilence, after all). 

Loving the action, Tuk'ata! I return to the states (and regular Internet access) in less than a week, and when I do, we'll accelerate this first Act of the arc, so get posting! Can't wait to rejoin you!

All caught up.  I really appreciate the posts so far, folks.  Lots of strong character development, good relationship work between PCs and even with NPC wingmen, and plenty of good action sequences, too.  It's a good read.    Special mention to Maroy, for her TARDIS reference.

Now, we need to move the story on to it's last stage: the discovery of the Imperial Dominion's bio-chemical weapons laboratory, from which the story gets its name (Pestilence).  Let's wrap up this skirmish with the Nebulon B, guys!
