As you all know, Fleet School has recently been reopened, and new recruits will now once again be able to choose whether they wish to serve aboard capital ships, as crew members (in Fleet Command), or serve in the cockpit of a TIE Interceptor, as pilots (in the Starfighter Corps). In concert with this change, the NHC will also be accepting applications from all current, active VEN members who wish to transfer between the two branches at this time. Are you a TIE pilot who never had the chance to go through Fleet School training, who'd rather be on the bridge crew of a Star Destroyer? Are you a member of Fleet Command who is reevaluating your career choices, desirous of the frenetic pace of starfighter combat and the close bond only found among squadron-mates? Either way, the application period for transfer between the branches is now open.
To apply for a transfer, please answer the following two questions, in a ComNet Private Message addressed to Trykon, Drac, StOrMz, Denethor, and Grey:
Question #1: Why do you want to transfer to the other branch of the Navy (either the Starfighter Corps or Fleet Command)? Your answer should be as comprehensive as possible, and should cover IC reasons and OOC reasons, if applicable.
Question #2: If you are requesting transfer from the Starfighter Corps to Fleet Command, which "Section" of the Star Destroyer's crew would you like to join? Your choices are: Helm (which includes sublight Pilots and hyperspace Astrogators), Weapons (which includes Gunners), Communications (which includes External and Internal Comms specialists, as well as Flight Control positions), or Engineering (which includes general Engineering staff as well as Damage Control specialists). Those are the entry-level Sections, so make sure to choose one, but by all means, if you have aspirations for another, different Section (for example, Medical), please let us know. These options are not the limit of a career in capital ships; they are merely the beginning of one.
Please keep in mind, the NHC needs to maintain a relative balance between the two branches, so not all requests may be enacted this time around; it depends on demand. With that said, though, if you don't get your desired transfer this time, don't despair: we'll likely do something like this again soon, as we get new members. We want everyone's careers to be satisfying for them.
This transfer application period will remain open for 1 week. At the end of that period, on August 14th, the NHC will consider the applications as a group, and approve as many as we are able, given the meta-level concerns. The better your activity and attitude are, the better your chance of being approved: higher priority will be given to applicants who demonstrate a willingness to cooperate with others and serve in their current unit selflessly, despite perhaps not being their first choice of billet, and to those who post consistently, often, and well.
