Slightly taller than most humans, with a sharp athletic build. Draco’s vanity, and obsession with escaping the shadow of his father, keeps him pushing himself to stay in good physical condition
Personality
Part obsessive, part cocky youth, Draco is a constant ball of energy. While his exterior is that of an energetic, short tempered, adrenaline-seeking fly boy, he is constantly comparing himself to his father, and judging his worth to his family’s legacy. Draco always strives for excellence, though rarely allows his motives and desire for excellence to be exposed, underplaying his achievements to his peers and superior officers, and pretending his interests lie with more physical pleasures
Character’s Background
Draco VanOrden was born on Fondor, son to an infamous imperial pilot named Isaac VanOrden, and Marisa VanOrden, a brilliant capital ship engineer for Fondor Shipyards. Draco’s earliest memories were that of fighter pilot holos, stories his father would share about facing impossible odds with his squadron in exotic corners of the galaxy, and listening to his mother explain the ins and out of various ships used throughout the galaxy. With his father gone for periods at a time, and his mother busy working, Draco was often left to his own devices as a child, which often involved schoolyard scraps, which drew the ire of his father when he was present. When Isaac was on Fondor he would constantly “teach” his son the basics of hand to hand combat, which wasn’t truly teaching as much as a disciplinary action. This in turn gave birth to the desire to beat is father at his own tricks one day…
Draco’s flight-lust grew with each tale, and by his early teens, he was using old star fighter simulators found on Fondor Shipyards. He would simulate rough landings or dogfights and send the recordings to his father while he was gone on Duty. In turn his father would nitpick what he could have done better, or worse, reply with his own recordings, driving his fuel for competition. His near constant presence in the simulations gave him the nickname “Ace” which was initially used a mocking term of endearment from passing pilots and workers at the Shipyard. Draco wore it as a badge to fuel his own desire for excellence.
Draco spent his late teen years working for the Fondor Spaceport flying routine cover routes and flying cover for passing supply fleets to save up money for college on Coruscant, it was around this time he took up twi, leki…More for the sake of impressing the passing female Twi’lek pilots than anything truly valuable.
After several years of festering in boredom with the Fondor Spaceport, and after a particularly brutal sparing match with his father before he left for an unspecified period of time, Draco decided that it was time to take the next step in his quest for superiority over his parentage.
It was time to join the Navy…
