Gentlebeings,
The NHC have, over the last couple weeks, been discussing some reforms to the Navy. After much discussion and deliberation, I'm pleased to present to you a new model for the Navy's player-character ships and squadrons: The One-Ship Model.
Simply put, all main-line Naval activity and personnel will be based off of and centered around the
Halcyon Warrior. Now, before Serpent and Echelon panic, let me clarify: All existing Ship Captains will retain their craft (or those they're about to earn). Also, the
Atrus will continue to be the Navy's flagship and the heart of the fleet.
What this reform means is that all new CapShip members, and all PC starfighter squadrons, will be based on the
Halcyon Warrior. It really won't change much for you SFC members- your change has already happened, in fact, since you've been transferred to the
Warrior already.
For CapShip members, this means that most Ship Captains will be alone on their craft when it comes to player characters. Instead we'll have a larger, unified core of Junior Officers, Bridge Officers, and a Ship Executive Officer working and writing together aboard the
Warrior. Right now that will be Ellesmere, as she's the only one currently assigned as an officer aboard someone's ship. She'll be transferring to the
Warrior as a Bridge Officer.
If and when we fill up the
Warrior, the most deserving junior officers aboard will be awarded positions on other player-character ships or may even be entered into the Ship Captain Training Program to earn their first commands.
Now where will all these people come from? It's a bit early yet, but I'll give out the spoiler that we're soon going to re-open the CapShip side of the Academy. Existing members wishing to transfer to Fleet Command should bring their case for that to the NHC- just remember that we have to maintain the stability of both sides of the Navy, so requests may be denied temporarily in order to maintain the integrity of Starfighter Command.
I have another happy announcement to make: Lieutenant Will "Trick" Trykon is hereby appointed the Task Force Executive Officer of Task Force Besh- in other words, my second in command during large missions. Congratulations, Mr. Trykon.
The overall idea of this reform is to encourage a unified, cooperative situation amongst Fleet Command personnel as has existed for Starfighter Command members.
I encourage everyone to remember: Both sides of the Navy are equal. Ranks aboard ships are equivalent to ranks in starfighters, and neither is better than the other. If you're ambitious, both can get you where you want to go.
Thank you for your time,
-Captain Dracule "Drac" Mihawk
