Because a lot of the Wars we've seen in Star Wars haven't been for glory. Like the Clone Wars, or even the rebellion. They've been sad, and full of death. Plus, I think it would have hard to incorporate an speech into the Star Wars movie. I just don't see it happening.

There are plenty, but the Rebels tend to be too busy getting slaughtered, the Empire has every other commander a dogamatic tool or psychotic mass murderer, clones have the speeches flash-trained, and droids are droids.

The X-Wing series contains a couple of speeches. The one at Corran Horn's mistaken funeral/wake comes to mind, as do a couple involving the Bacta War.

Yeah, but I was more or less wondering aloud why the original trilogy doesn't cash in on the trope of the rallying-the-troops-speech. I guess there's Mon Mothma: "The Empire has made a critical error and the time for our attack has come." But it isn't exactly Henry V. While troop rallying speeches could have been present in the original trilogy, I don't think they were needed. Besides, these kinds of speeches are done in big war movies and stuff like that. Inspirational stuff. This is a sci-fi opera, it's about more than than the battles. Not only that, but when you think about it, there were very few times there could be a speech. For instance, right before the attack on the first and second Death Star was about the only time they could do a speech, and the men and women didn't necessarily need a morale boosting speech.
