OOC, there's a lot going on to accommodate some guest-posters from the Army for this story, but DON'T WORRY, those of you who wanted to board the freighter (Hades, in particular)!!!  There will be multiple opportunities for that kind of thing throughout the run of this story. 

We sort of introduced things and then had the holidays (which were wonderful for me and I hope all of you, but disruptive for the story's rhythm); but stay tuned... this is going to be epic.  We just need to finish this little action with the Salvation, to set up how the Surprise is really good for the mission she was assigned, and to work out how things are going to work on a meta-level, but the plot twists and ideas Serpent and I have been bouncing around will be worth the wait, I promise you. 

For now, orders:

1.) Pilots: You're flying CAP in the Hirisi system, in case more folks get stopped by our interdiction field.  Use this brief lull in the fighter action for some character development from the cockpit.  Talk to each other, and let the reader into your pilot's thoughts.

2.) bridge crew: analyze what's going on.  There are a lot of variables to track, and I want to see you tracking 'em.

3.) Exodus: you have an assignment.  Escort Doc Gibbs aboard after the initial boarders.  Then I'll want a report on the goings-on, as discussed.

Nicely done, Serpent.    Okay, TIE pilots, you have something new to play with while the boarding action proceeds.

Well, I'm the only one permanently assigned to the Surprise, as her captain, but I've eagerly recruited anyone who wants to participate in a run-on, and can manage all of their other duties at the same time, including some volunteers from our sibling division to serve on the boarding party with NPCs!    Roster says you're on the Atrus now, Ech, but if you want in, you're welcome to either join the story with an NPC bridge crewer, or get clearance from StOrMz to join with your PC.  This first action - supposedly a milk run to start the story off with a simple victory - has grown a little in scope, so the more, the merrier!  And things are only going to get more exciting as the story moves forward! 

Just took a look at the story so far, and i'm liking what's going on!

It's nice seeing the STC get some posting in as well, hopefully this is becomes a much more common occurrence.

Newest post is up, and the monsters lurking in the asteroids have struck!  They are big, bad, bugs called Scree, so basically its Starship Troopers with TIE Interceptors!

TIE pilots, kill a few of the beasties and run!  Even if you didn't post on this sub-quest before now its not too late!  All pilots are welcome to join in, or just use NPCs!  Have fun!

Yeah, Serpent, that's fine. I'll try and get something up Friday, and then you can do your thing on Saturday, and everybody else: your deadline stands: post now if you wanna say more about this phase of the mission, 'cause we're moving to the endgame ASAP! 

Thanks, Serpent!  New post with brief briefing is up, guys: with the help of our sister ship, the Success, we're going to be taking on a New Republic research/production facility that's making a new version of cloaking device!  And with any luck, we'll also be engaging and destroying the prototype warship, a modified ImpStar Deuce called the Umbral Blade!  Exciting, high-stakes stuff, so let's see a lot of posting as we wrap up this story in preparation for the new Fleet-wide tale; remember, awards come at the end, and as impressive as y'all have been so far, the stronger you finish, the more shinies I can give you!

Sounds exciting to me.  I had a thought, too: I wonder if we might base the Brinlik System on the Mestra System... Asteroids are perhaps "overdone" within Star Wars, by some ways of thinking, but with good reason: they make things more dynamic, and they seem more remote and wild than a fully-colonized planetary body, no?

So a gauntlet of asteroids, some of them with weapons emplacements and other defenses?  I like it!

I'm away this weekend, but I am working on getting a post up before them.  It will just detail our arrival, our shock at seeing the prototype ship making a break for it, and our reaction (ie: attack!).

Any other ideas folks?  Maybe last chance to throw stuff in there before we begin the push towards concluding this!

I'm workin' on a post too (great job, again, Serpent, on your last one), but I wanted to encourage everyone else to feel free to post, too!  This story belongs to everyone participating, not just the people with the most ponderous titles: you all know where we are and what we're doing, so start expressing yourselves! 

Remember, awards come at the end of stories...
