Hades: "That Stabilizer's Broken Loose, Again"

Hades growled. His TIE/in was in pieces. Almost literally. The four linked blaster cannons on each wing had been removed – obviously by a pneumatic wrench that lay nearby – and his wing pylon had been removed altogether, leaving his wing laying on the hangar floor and the pylon laying some distance away. The blaster cannons posed no problem; it would be the wing that was the real challenge. He called over a mechanic and asked him about this – who had done this and why. The mechanic had shrugged and answered that he didn't know, so Hades was still grumpy. He knew how to fix it, but he wondered if he could find the effort to.

Sighing, he started on the blaster cannons.  He gestured the lift that he brought with him closer, lowering the platform. It had been modified to hold blaster cannons, and reattach them, so it would make this much easier for Hades. He could not lift a blaster cannon on his own. He rolled the cannon into the grip of the lift droid, and then got it to raise the cannon to the height needed to re-affix it to the wing. He moved the droid to the right.. a bit more.. before stopping it and getting it to lower the cannon. Hades sighed as the cannon clanked against the wing. He hefted the pneumatic wrench, making sure the droid held the cannon in place as he worked to tighten the connections between the cannon and the only wing that was still attached. The connection could tighten no further, and Hades leaned into his cockpit to power it up.

Good – it had re-connected to the power couplings automatically, drawing on the TIE's main power source. He ran several test firings of the cannon on the computer, and all proved to be successful. Only a real test would prove it, though – something he could not do here in the hangar. He did the same for the second blaster cannon, and then that attached wing was repaired. Now for the hard part. Hades grimaced at the thought, his green eyes flickering from the wing pylon to the wing itself, as well as the blaster cannons that had been disconnected from that wing. This would take a while, Hades thought bitterly. Why in the galaxy was his fighter in this condition anyway? He made a note to check the security footage.

Hades sighed and moved the lift over to the wing-pylon. It  picked up the pylon and followed him back to where it would normally be attached. Now, this would be hard. He had to not only reattach it with the pneumatic wrench, but he had to make sure the connections between the power, the computers, and the wings were all in sync, calibrated with the targeting systems and the flight computer. Not an easy task. He leaned in and motioned the the lift to push the pylon closer, just far enough so he could see the connections between the cockpit and the pylon itself. He raised a glowstick, letting him see into the connections. None of them were damaged, fortunately. Hades arranged each of the connections tediously, so they would be in the right place when they connected the pylon.

Reassured that they were, he gestured the lift droid closer, slowly. Closer, closer, closer... and with a resounding THUNK, the pylon was reattached. Hades used it to scale the side of his fighter and lean in the cockpit, running a diagnostic. The readout came up green in the area of the pylon, indicating that it had been reconnected. The only red part was the entire left wing panel. Hopefully, this would be easy. Hopefully was not necessarily any measure of how easy it would be. Hades grunted and slid off his fighter, striding over to the wing panel laying on the hangar floor. Hades attempts to lift it – and fails. It was too heavy. He motions the lift-droid over to him, and uses it as a forklift-esque machine. It lifted the wing with ease, following Hades to the fighter. The lifting section of the droid tilted to bring the wing up on a diagonally vertical angle, so it didn't fall off the droid and so that it was easier to attach.

"Hmm," Hades hummed to himself, absentmindedly toying with the wrench. He stroked his clean-shaven chin as he pondered, looking from the droid to the wing pylon. If he could just get the wing in the right place, and use the pneumatic wrench to reconnect it, he would be done. As the saying goes, easier said than done. Hades gestured the droid closer to the wing.. closer, closer, closer still.. until the wing began to tip up to reconnect, at which point Hades halted the droid. He leant inward, his keen eyes surveying the connections that would ordinarily be...well, connected. They seemed to be aligned, and effectively that meant all he had to do was connect them with the pneumatic wrench. To do that, the droid would have to move closer. Hades motioned it forward again, this time all the way so the wing fell into place with another loud thunk. The droid held it there as Hades leaned in again, bending his neck to avoid the wing itself as he extended the wrench in front of him. A faint whirring came from the wrench as Hades strengthened the connections, replacing them the way it should've been done. Hades swored to himself that he'd get to the one behind this.

He leant back and inspected it. He thought it didn't look to shabby. Looks could be deceiving. Hades once again scaled his fighter and dropped into the cockpit, feeling the customised contours against his flightsuit. He tapped several keys, and with a humming sound, the diagnostic appeared - all green, this time. Hades grinned and activated the repulsors - to hear an indignant beeping from the lift droid that he had knocked over. Oops. The fighter, however, was fine. Until he noticed two red cylinders on the readout. Damnit, he thought, I forgot to re-attach the last two blaster cannons. With a sigh, Hades let the fighter drift to the deck and hopped out once more - righting the lift droid with great effort. He repeated the process as earlier, getting the lift droid to pick up the blaster cannons, and bring them over to the fighter. He adjusted his pneumatic wrench to the appropriate setting, and got to work. This took a little longer and, after five minutes, he had tightened the connections sufficiently and re-wired the cannons to the power supply. He began to work on the other as he finished, once more repeating the process, putting the cannon back in place and re-wiring its connections efficiently.

He stood back and admired his handiwork. Not bad, not bad. He circled his fighter once, before scaling it and dropping again into the cockpit. His diagnostic check hummed in, this time not with even a speck of red, and Hades grinned. He ran multiple firing simulations of the wing blasters, alternating fire modes and bursts. Satisfied that the virtual firing had turned up green as well, Hades nodded, satisfied, and climbed out. He closed his fighter behind him and gestured the lift droid away.

Now, he thought, for that security footage.

OOC:
Wordcount: 1,234. AAR; Hades finds his fighter in pieces and uses his knowledge of TIE fighters and pneumatic wrenches to fix it. Note, Hades had been seen studying the blueprints of an interceptor in a few posts before this, refreshing his knowledge on it.

Looks good, Hades.  I appreciate your efforts to uphold internal continuity, even within the arc of your skills missions.  You pass.
