So, to those who do not know, I am a senior in high school and have applied to six colleges: Ohio state, ohio university, coe college, drexel, ohio weselyan, and dennison.
So far, I have received acceptance letters from owu, coe, and osu, and coe and owu have given me scholarships (owu- 17,500 per year taking the cost down to 22500).
Now, here's the fun part. A friend of mine in Texas has applied to 6 colleges as well, and is also accepted to 3 of them. right now, It seems that we're in a little competition to see how many of the 6 we get accepted to. Nice. I've only applied and gotten accepted to one college (Georgia Tech) so far. On the financial side of that, I have no idea. Nice. I was more or less one-and-done as it came to applying to colleges. Got the one I wanted and then called it good.
Also: Ugh. Minority scholarships. Not meaning to offend anyone, of course. I'm no bigot or anything. It's just surprising how hard it can be to even find (and then get awarded) scholarships that don't rely mainly on some sort of minority factor and/or rely on need-based requirements that appear to ignore the possibility of parents having more than one kid going to college at a time. I find it rather ironic that being a caucasian male and more-or-less middle class means I'll end up with more debt when I'm done than I would have otherwise.

I understand where you are coming from Drac. Where I grew up I was always a minority, I actually found the whole idea of a minority scholarship funny back then since I was only in the 1% that was Caucasian at my high school. But then i look at the national profile and you see the actual statistics and I get it.
There are a ton of scholarship offered at the school themselves and on things like fastweb. Everyone here can write a kick ass essay and has many proofreaders at your disposal. So I think you guys have a good chance  Ayme 'Havock' Katash

As for the minority scholarships, I'm not a fan of them. Not because they're targeted at minorities but rather because they place less value on academics, sports, or other merits that the school is looking for and more on racial background. Not trying to seem racist, but I feel that acceptance into a school or scholarship should be because of your academic worth or something other than race. Due to my being disabled, I needed to split a 1-year program and make it into 2 years; for me the first year was AMAZING! second year...Felt demoted back to high school. Anyway, I'm sure you'll like it Heli, i have a higher maturity level than most my age and so that may have been a contributing factor in the why I didn't enjoy the second year as much.
As far as the financial part,not sure if it has been or can be done in the US but someone whom my father knows had applied to multiple colleges/universities and he didn't have a scholarship, however he 'bargained' for the best price if you will. Went to a college, got the costs, went to the other and said "Here's what this college is offering, can you do better?" And went from there and I believe he got his costs down a few grand |

As far as I know, you can't bargain down college tuition in the US.
As far as the FASFA goes, all I know about it is that you cannot even begin on it until after the new year, because your parents need their tax stuff from this year to complete it. A lotta people here are championing me for getting accepted into OSU. Honestly, it is the cheepest school and was my initial first pick. I was thinking on doing Medival and Reneissance Studies as my major there. As for the others, it will be either History, Music, or anything about Radio/Film/Television, like film editing.
Would be funny if I stay in VE long enough that if I become a history professor, I might find one of my students here. Heck, I might even do some recruiting. It really is a great clan(?) to be a part of, especially with all the proofreaders and chances to improve writing skills by writing for certain limits and goals.
