It's great to be able to say this. The unit replacing us is FINALLY being brought out and I will be home in the near future. Saying goodbye to Afghanistan is going to be wonderful. It's been a difficult deployment and it will be a sweet thing in my life to get some good rest.
My hope is that I will be able to get back on and write with the Navy once more. If you guys will still have me. =) Even it is for only a handful of hours a week. I look forward to being back with my family, in RL and also my friends and, if they are still around, those who I feel are family here. |

Welcome back, Master Chief. No doubt you've noticed things have changed slightly since you were last here. Our lovely MCPO Trykon should be lurking around somewhere, reading this. And, if he is, he should welcome you back and probably suggest something along the lines of a refresher course in the academy before possible reassignment to a squadron or a ship.
So, until then... feel free to hop in #Regents and chat it up with some fighter jocks, the current NCC, and possibly the Old Man.

We are of course thrilled to welcome you back to the Navy, as well.  We don't need you to go through the Naval Academy again, or anything, but it is standard procedure nowadays to get returning members to post to the Raptor: Overwhelming Odds story thread at least once when they start back up with the VEN, to "knock the rust off," so to speak. So, at your convenience, throw up a simulated combat post there, and I'm sure we can get you settled back in action forthwith. As the others mentioned, things have been shaken up a bit since you went out on deployment. If you really want to be part of a squadron again, we can put you there. But, given your rank and proven ability, I'd like to have you begin the Ship Captain Training Program. Tryk can walk you through it but the gist is that at the end you'll be given a CR-90 or DP-20 to command.
Being an SCAP gives you a bit more freedom, the chance to do a lot of CD if you like, and the ability to write and lead small-unit missions, among other things. Just let us know (and put up Tryk's post for him, lol) and we'll get you slotted right in.

hey Anden, good to have you back!
i agree w/Drac, Capital Ships would be better for you. you'd be able to mold your stories your own way, and, given your possible RL complications, you'd not feel as if you're letting the team down if you have to step away.
...besides, gnarled old vets like us need to be Captains, that way we can take out our years of mental traumas and psychosis on our crews...we know how fighter pilots cry if you beat them too much ;D

Thanks for all the warm welcome =)
I think I'll go for Atrasin's and Drac's advice and take a look into the SCTP. Sounds like it could be fun, and fitting for the story I have been mulling around whilst out on patrols. |
