Yay for stackable medals, nay for medal clarifications. I can see individuals pestering the NHC for not getting their deserved shinies and worse - bitching about the unfairness of this fact to the regular members. So granted it may be for selfish reasons but that's my position on the matter.

I agree with that reasoning.  I was more trying to say that the criteria sections could stand to be standardized, a little, rather than trying to suggest we should insert a bunch of if-then clauses into those sections.

I'd say Yay as well. To me the Merit Crosses have always been our equivalent to the RL Bronze Star & Silver Star, though at a slightly lower level.

Some additional medals might address, at least in part, my concern about clarity: having a medal specifically FOR combat, and another for NON-combat contributions, for example, would ensure neither medal is awarded inappropriately.  I too want to discourage the "gotta have 'em all" collector's impulse in members, but those who do the AWARDING of the medals could use a little more clarity, perhaps, about which medal would best fit the accomplishment.
