I've got 6 years roleplaying (D&D, SWRP, H:TV an online RP) under my belt, and a fair bit of gaming - so hopefully I'll prove to be a useful asset to the Imperial Navy.

Physical Description:
Sam Jack Dunn stands at a little under two meters in height, and is perhaps a little too light for someone of his age - a result of malnourishment as a child. His skin, especially on his arms and face, is nicked with an uncountable number of tiny scars, often the result of knife-fighting or accidents that happened when fleeing pursuit. He has a tanned complexion, and his build is wiry and athletic - he'll never be as strong as his peers, but he's extremely agile and has very fine hand-eye co-ordination.

His mousy brown hair is cut at exactly 0.5 centimeters over regulation standard, though no-one has raised the issue with him yet, as no-one has considered it really worth the hassle of a confrontation over. He seems to always have a 5 O'clock shadow, despite the fact that he shaves regularly. He has a slightly exotic (think mongolian) facial structure, with storm-grey eyes and a seemingly-permanent lopsided grin.

His posture reflects his personality - he appears to be relaxed wherever he is, lounging effortlessley as if he's been there for hours and has settled in, but his eyes give him away. Darting back and forth, his gaze is always taking in the area around him - a holdover from his childhood, this means he rarely misses a detail in his surroundings. He is never seen without a variety of blades hidden on his person, and he seems to go through uniforms at an astonishing rate - in all cases, they return badly worn, though no-one can quite explain why.

Emotional Description:
Sam Jack Dunn is a man with two layers. He appears to be a typical spacer in his attitudes, though coming from an area only recently explored by the Empire, even more so. He is friendly and outgoing, with a slightly sarcastic and self-deriding sense of humour and an astonishing ability to turn anything into a joke if he thinks he'll get away with it.

His attitude is perhaps too relaxed for the high standards of the Imperial Navy, and though his uniform and discipline are both up to the minimum acceptable standard, it is a close thing. He seems to have an innate disregard for rank and protocol that he was raised with, and struggles to overcome this.

However, he makes up for these shortcomings in style. He has a literally unflappable nature - an infectious confidence an ability to find hope in any situation that others seem to find inspiring, a trait that he damn well knows is good for morale. He cares deeply about his fellow troops, and has taken up the task of keeping morale high as his personal crusade - he's always there to listen if a team-mate needs to talk.

However, his attitude masks in some ways his true nature. He was raised in a penal colony, after all, and it takes a special kind of ruthlessness to survive in such an environment. When it comes to his foes, he is completely without pity or mercy, capable of any number of atrocities if it helps his and his team's chances of success.

Character’s Background:
Sam Jack Dunn was born on the prison colony of Timbra Ott, a very isolated planet located in the back end of the already extremely isolated Kathol Outback. He spent the first decade of his life amidst the rioting and open anarchy that reigned after the Empire rose to power and, in the bureaucratic chaos that ensued, effectively forgot the colony. Sam never knew his parents, and grew up on the streets, scavenging whatever supplies he could.

However, he managed to keep some semblance of sanity and civilization during this time by finding solace in holobooks and, eventually, in a close group of street-kid friends. He continued this hand-to-mouth existence for a few years, before the people eventually restored some kind of order, and formed a legally flexible trading state that was self-sufficient. Known for its laws that made smuggling and trading in smuggled goods perfectly legal, Sam found a place in the newly formed peacekeeping force.

He served as the equivalent of a police officer in a society that did not take the law at all seriously - as a result, he became very adept at negotiating with unruly smugglers and ex-convicts, and developed a calming nature that let him put people at ease. The local peacekeeping force was expected to be able to keep the peace both on land and in space, and Sam became not only a capable footsoldier, but a skilled pirate.

When an Interdictor Cruiser, just after the Battle of Yavin, pursued a slaver ship filled with captured Imperials to the system, Sam assisted in the ship's capture, piloting an old V-Wing starfighter that the force had traded for years back. He was impressed with the stylish, obviously elite Imperial Navy, so far removed from what he had grown up with, and signed up immediately.

Welcome to the Vast Empire Naval Academy, Crewman Dunn.  My apologies that you had to wait for a Trainer's assistance, but I'm happy you've already become acquainted with a few Navy members in the meantime.

My name is Master Chief Petty Officer Wyl Trykon, and I'll be your Training Officer (TO) while you go through the Academy's Orientation program.  I'll be around to help get you acclimated to life in the Vast Empire (a process we call, "Basic Training"), the most important part of which is learning how to role-play as an Imperial starfighter pilot in an ongoing, collaboratively-written story (a set of skills which is taught in something we call, "Flight School").

With your first post here on the Naval Academy board, you've completed Imperial Initiation (well done) and I see you've begun Flight School (which will prepare you for daily life as a pilot in a VE squadron), by posting a bio.  Excellent start!  I also note you've got lots of rp-ing experience; that's great to see, but we're gonna put you through Basic all the same, just to make sure your writing skills are up to snuff.

Your next step should be to continue Flight School, found here.  Go ahead and post your ID line here in this thread, so I can review it, and get your biography onto a wiki page (and post a link to that page here, as well), and we'll proceed from there.  Please note: here in the VE, we write stories in the third person, past tense; you should too.
