While you're waiting, I'll direct you to the information you'll need.

You'll first be asked to create a biography for your character that you'll use during your career here in the Vast Empire Navy. That information can be found here. Look under "Chapter I" and you'll find some information on what's required for completion.

If you have any questions, please post them here and I, a trainer, or another member of the Naval High Command will answer as soon as possible.

The Vast Empire Navy Academy welcomes you, Crewman Trykon.

I am 2nd Lieutenant Class Rocketman1167 or you can just call me Rocket, the Chief of Naval Training at the Academy for the Vast Empire Navy, and I'll be helping you today.

Now that you have posted a welcome message here on the Naval Academy board, you completed Imperial Initiation and have started Basic Training. BT, as it is called, is mostly Flight School, which prepares you for daily life in a squadron.

The first step in Flight School is to complete Chapter 1, which can be found here .

Once you are done with that put it up here so that it can be reviewed.

Our method of writing here in the Vast Empire Navy (and the Vast Empire) is to write in third person. Please do so. If you have any questions, feel free to ComNet PM myself for guidance or hop on IRC and go to the Naval Academy channel which is #VENA. Good Luck.

It's a pleasure to be here, Lieutenant Rocket, and thank you (and Admiral StOrMz) for allowing me to begin training.

As ordered, I've prepared a bio for my character and an ID Line, both properly formatted (or so I hope).  Also as ordered, I'm posting them in their original draft form here in this thread, for your review (I will forgo adopting the ID Line formally until it has been cleared through proper command channels).

Transmission begins...

Wyl Trykon

Physical Appearance

Species: Human

Height: 1.8 meters (5 feet, 10 inches)
Weight: 57 kilograms (125 pounds)
Hair Color: black
Facial Hair: none
Eye Color: grey-green
Scars: none
Tattoos: none

Physical Description:
Wyl Trykon is a slender, wiry young man with grey-green eyes and jet-black hair.  Perpetually clean-shaven and of middling height, Wyl is often mistaken for a teenager, until observers notice his deportment.  His demeanor is almost regal: he possesses an uncommon grace and agility, matched by an obvious pride and self-confidence.  Trykon’s inherent nobility is reinforced by his aloof, precise manner of speaking, and by his fastidious standards of neatness in dress and personal grooming.

Character’s Background:
Wyl Trykon was born on Kuat, in the year 19 BBY, the only son of a working-class family.  With few real options available within the rigid Kuati class structure, Trykon’s parents dutifully trained their son for his eventual vocation as a telbun: one of the mannered gene-donor tutor-slaves so desired by the matriarchs of the great merchant families.
Naturally handsome, intrinsically talented, and a voracious learner, Trykon was driven to fully exploit every opportunity afforded him.  His hard work – and his parents’ – was well-rewarded when he scored in the 99th percentile for his coming-of-age tests.  Hours after the scores were released, his mother was already negotiating pricing with one of the most powerful women on Kuat; everything was proceeding according to plan.
But although he was purchased by a prestigious family for an exorbitant sum, Trykon was still not satisfied with his accomplishments, and found little joy in his new life as a telbun.  When his mistress eventually began dealing with the Rebel Alliance as part of her political maneuvering against the other great families of Kuat, Trykon sensed an unprecedented chance to transcend the class structure of his home planet entirely, and he took it: in exchange for betraying his mistress to the Imperial authorities, Trykon secured the Moff’s support for his own bid to take over the woman’s financial holdings in his own name.  By carefully exploiting Imperial prejudices, Trykon became not only the first talbun to join the wealthy merchant class, but also the first male head-of-family in Kuati history.
Kuat was the scene of many significant events in the next years, and throughout them all, Trykon methodically secured his personal control over his “family” and built up its fortune, in direct partnership with the Imperial authorities.  Then, suddenly, the New Republic stole Kuat and its shipyards from the Empire, and destroyed Wyl Trykon’s whole world.  Now a refugee, Trykon is searching the Galaxy with the same quiet, grim determination which has served him throughout his life, looking for a way to rebuild what he has lost, to reclaim his world, and to be revenged against the rebels.  In short, he’s looking to join the Empire.

Personality:
Wyl is a serious, reserved, contemplative sort, with mannerisms which often read as prim or haughty or even rude to those who don’t know him well.  But those who choose (or those who are forced) to spend significant periods of time with him discover that underneath his seemingly cold, humorless, priggish persona there is a fierce passion, a withering wit, and a faithful friend, generous in word and deed.

ID Line (couldn't find the reason for the lower-case "m" in front of SSD Atrus, but included it as per the wiki article's instructions):
TRN/CRW Trykon/W:1 Phoenix/mSSD Atrus/TF:A/1 Flt/SFC/VEN/VE

Transmission ends...

Thank you again for this opportunity, and I look forward to your review, Lieutenant.

Thank you for the ID Line help and assignment, sir.  One question: am I replying to the thread's topic (the simulation exercise) only, or also to the previous posts (others' runs in the simulation)?

Ah, I see, Commodore Atrasin.  Thank you for setting me straight; all of the materials I've seen to date indicated 8 ABY - 9 ABY.  Effectively, it changes very little about my character's backstory (a few more years of scrambling to rebuild a life which can remain unspecified at this point, I think), but I appreciate knowing the correct date nonetheless.

I posted in the training thread @ http://comnet.imperialnetwork.com/topic/14333/page/0/.  The training manual mentions creating a character page on the wiki; should I get that underway?

Ok, a couple of corrections for your page:
For the Ranks section, as a crewman, your insignia is:
[[Image:CRWSFC.JPG]] add that text to your page under the insignia section of your Rank part and it will be good.

For the position you have, the format we generally use is as follows:
Position= Graphic of Position, in your case for the first one you want [[Image:Navtrainee.png]]
Start= Start Date
Until= End Date
Reason= Give reason for change in position, as well as designation: E.G. Assigned to Raptor Squadron, Alpha 4, for training

Very good so far, just make those changes and you'll be set to go,

As far as I can tell, I've completed all the tasks assigned in Flight School, with the exception of writing my first report.  I'm eager to move forward (especially since learning about the "Star of the Academy" citation), so I'll post my first report for review here, before forwarding the edited version to my squadron commander, who is DeepSix, if I'm not mistaken.  Thanks to everyone for your encouragement, help, and patience!

Transmission begins...
Wyl Trykon's Report: February 8th, 2011

Activity: In the past three days I learned about the VE, joined the Navy, and started training with Raptor Squadron.  I've familiarized myself with the forum and IRC systems, crafted a character and built a wiki page for that character, contributed my first story post (a simulator exercise with Raptor Squadron), and this will be my twelfth post.  In addition, I've researched equipment and fighter tactics, VE naval etiquette and the chain of command, and the Star Wars Universe during and before the year 11 ABY.

Upcoming plans: In the coming week I will work on completing assignments as they come, and continue to train with my squadron (whether Raptor or one of the two active squadrons).  I plan on maintaining a high level of activity for the foreseeable future.

Questions/Suggestions: On what day should reports be submitted (this seems to be a question best asked of DeepSix directly, which I will do)?

Crewman Trykon, Raptor 4

I hope that's satisfactory.  As always, I look forward to review and further instructions.

This is a bit late in coming, however, your report is excellent.  You have passed basic training and have been assigned to the CR-90 Hammer for the time being.
