Communications Technician Specialty
Level 1: Equipment and Procedures
Story 1: Installation, Utilization, & Operation of Basic Comm Equipment

D woke up at 6:00A.M., he got out of bed and hopped in the shower. While in the shower, he thought to himself. This is going to be so awesome! I can’t wait!

After his shower, he got into his uniform and headed towards the cafeteria, where he ate a rather large breakfast. After breakfast he headed to the Lecture Hall. He arrived at 7:00, in time to get a good seat. He picked one of the seats at the very front of the room. Sergeant Varis walked in, and started pacing.

“Welcome to your first lecture in Communications Technology, these lectures will be followed by practical application of the topics discussed,” the Sergeant said looking at them.

D began to take notes, as the Sergeant spoke. After a few days of lectures, Sergeant Varis led them to the room where they were to perform the practical application. D picked a table as far away from the Sergeant’s desk as possible, he had a funny feeling about this practical application.

“Now that you have all chosen a station, get started!” The sergeant told them.

D immediately picked up the military-grade datapad, he started up the system and ran through a few of the programs on it. He decided to create a simple algorithm solving program on it. He ran the program and it ran beautifully. It had a very VERY good system in it, he decided.

“I’ve gotta get me one of those!” D exclaims to himself, “Keep up the good work and you will one day,” the sergeant said from behind him, scaring the life out of him.

He set down the datapad, and decided to start playing with the planetary communications rig. He set up the satellite with the correct latitude and longitude, and set it to the correct frequency, as instructed. Then he sent a message to the sergeant across the room.

“Sergeant Varis, this is Darien Crowe, planetary comm. rig up and running.” He reported, “That’ll do PFC Crowe.” The sergeant told D.

D decided to combine some of the items and repair the droid, he took the diagnostics kit, and ran a complete diagnostic check on the droid, learning that several of it’s programming matrices were corrupted, and one of the servos in it’s left leg was fried.

“Let’s get you fixed up,” D commented half to himself, half to the droid.

D first took apart the droid’s left leg and removed the fried servo motor. He then took the new one and installed it into the droid. He then took the droid repair kit and hooked up the accompanying datapad to the droid’s main data port. He ran the anti-virus included in the repair kit, then he did a complete system reboot.

“Thank you for repairing me, what is your name?” The droid asked politely. “My name is Darien Crowe,” D answered. The droid made his way to the sergeant and informed him of what D had done.

A few minutes later, after everyone had finished repairing their droids the sergeant set off an EMP grenade frying everything in the room.

“Now, I want all of you to use what you have to, to repair everything at your station.” Sergeant Varis told them all.

D chuckled, he had expected something like this. He first picked up the military datapad, and hooked up the diagnostics datapad, which was shielded from the EMP blast. D realized he’d have to replace every single chip in the datapad, except for the main data drive which was shielded. Coincidentally all the chips he needed were located in the drawers of his station.

“Huh, he planned this,” D thought as he shook his head.

D carefully replaced the chips, and put it back together, turned it on and promptly ran a diagnostic of the datapad. He saw that everything was working fine and shut it down and went on to the planetary communications rig.

“Okay, lets see what that blast did to this beast,” D said as he ran a full diagnostics check on it.

After seeing that most of the delicate components were shielded, D went about replacing the “less delicate” parts, mostly chips and fuses.

After he finished repairing the comm. rig, D raised his hand, “sir, I’m finished, would you like to take a look at everything?” D asked the sergeant, “Yes I would,” the sergeant stated as he walked over.

“Hmm, everything looks good Crowe, pack everything back up and you’re free to go.” The sergeant said seemingly impressed.

D started to pack up, thinking to himself, This was a very satisfying experience, I learned a lot.

After leaving the room D headed directly to his quarters, and sat there playing with his datapad until time for bed. I can’t wait until my next class! D thought to himself, as he fell asleep.

Sorry for this, but I dont actually have access to the Spec Net as a MOD.

You fail this story.

While you definitely know what you are talking about, your grammar and language doesn't balance it out.

Go through your post and edit the tenses to the past tense. I've spotted multiple present time tenses which should actually be past tenses.

In your dialogue, you have a tendency to end your sentences there with a comma while it should actually be a full-stop.

Please make the adjustments and PM me again.

I'm being harsh on you actually but in regards to tenses, I have said this multiple times to you on previous occasions. I'm hoping that this will provide to be more of an motivator to avoid tense mixups
