Snipes is busy with something (RL work stuff most likely, parading around looking badass in his camo gear), and I don't have roster access as of yet, so I'm just going to go ahead and say it's a-oki to chuck a lil' something up on the newbie board.
We're mostly just looking at your style of writing, to see whether or not you'd slot in with the madmen that make up the ranks. Feel free to post as yourself or to create a new character. Any questions hit me up by PM or online 
Also, just a note to everyone about progression, we're planning on wrapping up the Abraxas story sometime soon and getting a thread up which everyone can post on. Yesssss....more flyboys....er, girls. As there seems to be some confusion regarding the path of a Prospective, let me clear it up for y'all: As a Prospective you must post on the set Prospective thread to introduce your character, and then participate in at least one story before a Captain chooses you to be his Underthing. Once at the rank of Underthing we're considering introducing a fork where you can choose whether or not to pursue your own Captaincy (and a ship) or decide to become an Osk Freelancer. As Osk Company has only recently opened it's doors we're still working through a few kinks. Suggestions and ideas are most welcome, as is any feedback via the boards, PM or IRC. We're trying our best to get all of this in place as soon as possible so you guys can start posting. Let me clear a little of this up, as our first wave of Prospectives have gleaned, this current prospective story is just something to show that you're active until Abraxas is finished, once Abraxas is finished you'll actually be part of division stories. In order to advance past Prospective you will have to be active on at least one more story.
Being a Prospective is in no way similar to being a recruit in the Corps or a whatever the fuck in the navy. A Prospective is expected to be an active and contributing part of the division while they prove themselves for further advancement. It will take some longer than others, that's expected and is not bad. Sometimes it can be effected by something as simple as the amount of available slots for advancement. Keep in mind, as a Prospective you are still a functioning member of Osk, you simply don't have some of the privileges and liberties that higher ranking people do but your contributions can be important, if you make them so.
A lot of this depends you, you are responsible for your own level of involvement, Osk is primarily writing based, so your ability to write or eagerness to grow as a writer is what can set you apart. You have to decide what effect you have on the plot and how you do it, and just changing the plot isn't the same, we're looking for characters here, the name of the game is character development.
You can also help in behind the scenes ways, but that is a very hit and miss method.

First of all, thanks to everyone for posting on the thread. It's great to see that there's a solid interest out there for this crazy world Snipes has whipped up in his perma-alcohol infused existence. I'd like to encourage anyone interested to continue posting or post for the first time on the Prospective thread in the following weeks. You don't need approval to join in, just go ahead and whack a post up if the urge takes you. We will have a new story up soon (and I use that term loosely). I suppose what I should write is that we will have a story up when we think it's good enough to bother writing on, so it might pop up in a week, or it may slowly emerge in two or three. But we most definitely have something in the works. Finally, I was having a conversation with Snipes today on IRC (where most of our incoherent rambling takes place) and he said a few things that I figured were worth posting here. The following is not meant to be interpreted as an insult, as I said earlier, we're just awfully glad that fellow members we've never really met/talked too/worked with are keen to participate in Osk. It's really just a succinct summary of how the almighty Pirate King (and I daresay the majority of its members) perceive Osk and their Osk characters: Quote:[Dracula] Osk: every character really has their own storyline. [Kami] that really sums it up for me [Dracula] One thing I've been dissapointed with on the prospectives thread is that they all seem to portray themselves as some great and feared brigand or fighter and almost all of them at some point end up kicking the ass of like at least four NPCs at some point in their posts. [Kami] yeah >.< [Kami] flaws make a character [Dracula] They don't seem to understand that they're supposed to be peons in our little world, and yeah, nobody cares about that, I want to know why they're here, what motivates them, how they feel. [Dracula] Aye [Kami] Agreed [Kami] All our senior writers have heavily flawed characters [Dracula] Aye, although Osk helped make Snipes actually flawed; but Jager is suspicious and shifty, Jegora is arrogant, Tanus is hateful and distant, Kami has past demons, Snipes has an enormous ego and is a bloodthirsty megalomaniac. [Kami] Kami's a neurotic alcoholic, she's getting closer and closer to home, haha [Dracula] But all of them act like real people [Dracula] petty at times, and self centered, they have conflicted feelings about everything they do and all of them deal with some sort of real hurt throughout [Dracula] That is what Osk is, real people in odd situations, where sometimes they have to do things they don't like either to survive or for what they believe in [Dracula] Nobody always wins, even when they kill the enemy, they don't always win.

Now as we’ve mentioned a couple of times, Osk is very much a work in progress, so I’m going to apologize again for any confusion over the last few weeks.
