The job of being Prefect of the Army was definitely not as action-packed as that of being a trooper, but General Rizzit sure kept himself busy throughout the course of each and every day. Most of it was your typical, mundane, procedural paperwork; protocol DID need to be followed however. Yesterday for example was just an endless list of new trooper acquisitions that needed some level of military clearance, however little, based on the fact that they had graduated from the Vast Empire Stormtrooper Academy and were being placed in their new homes within the squads of the Stormtrooper Corps. Over fifty percent of them were headed to Wildcard Platoon; the rest were to be divided up as needed between Storm, Bantha, and Phalanx Platoons. Thankfully, Rizzit only needed to process their paperwork: their destination had already been worked out by the Commander of Training: 2nd Lieutenant Kanderin Draken. There had been a time, it was Rizzit's job to do that and another time still when it was Rizzit's job to welcome and orientate the newly placed troopers; that seemed like a lifetime ago. On the subject of Today's task: the Aerospace Corps was in need of some new members and of course it just HAD to be Rizzit's job to greet the potential new additions and oversee their first mission (or so he felt). Rizzit grabbed his datapad to go over the list of people today that he had to meet later at the Briefing Room.
Hmm....looks like we'll be doing some sub-division transfers if this works out. Rizzit thought to himself. Some of the people on the list in front of him were either friends or acquaintances - more importantly, they were army members. One of the nice things about being in Rizzit's position in this case: he wasn't losing any members. One way or another, he would be keeping his members. In fact, one nice advantage is that he would be "acquiring" some of the members of the Imperial Navy for his Division. This was going to work out quite nicely. At any rate, Rizzit needed to head to the Training Facility to meet up with the group and explain how the simulator mission was going to work today.
One Hour later
There were a few extra people here than Rizzit had names for. To an extent- this was to be expected. There was the current Squad Command which gave them an extra 3 people. Rizzit knew that Zach was crawling around the area somewhere; he couldn't tell where at the moment, but he knew that Zach was here. The room was quiet with everyone anxious to hear what would be said. Everyone was sitting at the same table, since there was so few of them to be briefed; Rizzit decided that the smaller room would be the smartest choice even though it was a little less elaborate and equipped. This allowed for Wildcard Platoon to use the other room if need be. Rizzit pulled out his datapad and made sure that everyone was present who needed to be. Once it was realized that everyone required was present, there was no need to delay. Rizzit stood up and made his way to the head of the table.
"Thank you all for coming, and for those of us who had to venture off world to get here: I hope your flight was a safe one." Rizzit said "Now, for those who do NOT know why you are here: you are here because you are the best that the Stormtrooper Corps or the Starfighter Corps has to offer. The Aerospace Corps has always looked to our two divisions to recruit from when they are in need of new members; today you all have just such an opportunity. Joining us today are the commanders of Automata Squad, your new home should you decide to take this offer. You will be stripped of all rank and starting out fresh with basic Aerospace Corps ranks as they see fit. Be forewarned though, you absolutely cannot co-exist. You will have to leave your current Squad or Squadron if you stay."
The quietness of the room ceased. Talk was breaking out amoung the small group. Apparently, they were given little to no details about how this was going to happen - if their superiors even knew themselves. Rizzit was sure of what he had passed down the ranks in his division, but not sure if the words got mixed up along the way. The same with the Navy; Rizzit knew what he had told Denethor. The question was however: what did Denethor tell his division?
"If you will all remain calm, I will finish explaining things and then I will turn things over to Lieutenant Be`eje to explain more about where we go from here. Now, I don't need to tell you how the recruiting process works for the Stormtrooper Corps or the Starfighter Corps: both divisions get recruits from their respective Academies. The Aerospace Corps does not have an Academy per se, they take their recruits based on recommendations from the other subdivisions of the Vast Empire. Therefore, you should consider it an honor to be here. When we are done here, you will be following Lieutenant Be`eje into the simulator room for a mission to understand just exactly what type of missions they go on. You are to complete the mission as if it is your own mission and assuming you are not completely clueless in there: you will be offered a spot within' the Aerospace Corps. You are under no obligation to accept the spot and give up your rank; but be forewarned, if you choose to go you do so freely and therefore will not be able to change your mind and return to your old rank and position a week later. Chances are, your position will be filled and you will be given a somewhat lower rank to return to. And now, without any more delays: I will turn things over to Lieutenant Be`eje."
"Thank you General." offered the Lieutenant as Rizzit returned to his seat. "I am going to take what Rizzit has said a bit further. The Aerospace Corps is a sort of culmination of your two sub divisions. We do not have legions of Stormtroopers, nor do we have a vast array of Imperial Pilots ready to do battle at a moment's notice for us; though we are quite large. There are a total of 15,000 Aerospace Commandos specially trained for any type of combat environment: namely Space Combat or Ground Assault. We are given specific targets and take them out based on the criteria or circumstances of the mission. Also we have a lot of vehicles that range from TIE Hunters to AT-STs. If vehicles is something you fancy, you will see a wide variety of them here. You will be pushed to your limits like you have never known before. Even your highest ranking officers have found new challenges within' the Aerospace Corps. Playtime is over kiddies: now, let me tell you a little bit about what we have in store for us today in the simulator. Oh, which reminds me: as a note on the simulator. Treat this as it is real life. While most of us get so engrossed in our missions that we forget we are in a simulator: some have been able to tell the difference. Let me assure you, wether I actually cut off your hand or your brain thinks I cut off your hand: there is no difference. You will feel the pain as if I actually did it. The same goes for dying: while you cannot die technically, if your brain thinks you died you may not be able to come out of the simulator. You will be in a sort of coma shall we say? Eventually, when the simulator is over people sometimes manage to come out of the comas but the percentage is less than 50. It is not something you want to risk, so get it right the first time. For those who never experienced a simulator (and can tell they're in a simulator) while you may think the mission is not real you have to put real work into accomplish it. Our best soldiers and engineers have mastered our simulator so that you need to be able to perform your actions physically to do them in your simulator missions. So don't worry: there will be no jumping 100 feet in the air or flying."
The room went dead. There was a sense of fear in some of the troopers or pilots; no one liked hearing that they were treading on uncertain ground and might have to pay the ultimate price for helping out another division. Especially given the fact that this was a simulator and not real life: what would they be dying for? The chance to be in the Aerospace Corps. To some, that would have been enough to sustain them; others however were not so thrilled with that thought. They knew that they had no choice though. Most of room at least hoped that it was a simulator to ensure things were not insanely difficult so as long as they didn't do anything stupid: they would be allright. Problem was, what was considered stupid to the Aerospace Corps? Would what they already know be enough to keep them alive? Only time would tell.
"Today we will be heading to the planet of Dathomir. Imperial Warlord Zsinj has got himself in a tight situation and has requested aide. Zsinj has captured a New Republic General and from what I understand he is of great importance to the New Republic. Unfortunately, he has felt the bitter taste of betrayal and has had most of his fellow imperials murdered. Furthermore, there is a rescue mission underway to free the General from his grasp. Your first objective is going to be to save his Super Star Destroyer
Iron First which has fallen under attack from the infamous Rogue Squadron and the Hapan Consortium. If the
Iron First cannot be saved, your secondary objective is to cause damage to the New Republic and the Hapan Consortium as possible. Once your affair in space has concluded, you are to land your TIE Hunters and engage the rescue party down below. With the space system safe, Imperial Dropships will arrive and drop and vehicles that you may need to our location. I need only call them. Intelligence points to a New Republic Enclave on-planet. Chances are that is where the rescue party will stay with the captured General if they managed to rescue him until the system is safe to attempt a flight back to wherever they hail from - presumably Courscant. We are to wipe out the enclave from existence. No traces of it should remain."
The deadness of the room remained. Some of them needed to learn space combat, others needed to learn ground. A sense of appreciation for what was going on already filled their minds and eagerness started to take them. For some, this is why they joined the EMPIRE - to make a difference in the galaxy and thwart events like this from happening. Others just joined because they enjoyed the destruction that comes along with most Imperial missions. One way or another, it seemed that everyone was going to be satisfied with what they were in store for.
"For those that are concerned" Rizzit chimed in. "You will get re-briefed by myself once you are into the simulator. For the most part, I will literally be repeating what Lieutenant Be`eje has just told you. The only difference is that I will be aided by the presence of visual aides from the simulator. With the amount of resources that we invested in these, they are really top-of-the-line. You will even have the specifications for various vehicles and equipment come up seemingly in front of you before you begin. Afterwards, the information will be available in your vehicle's computers should you remember you are in a simulator that is. Now, for the most part: our meeting is complete. I have two other people I want to introduce you to. You all know Lieutenant Be`eje by now, but this is his assistant: Drak Jeldeeb. If we were in the Army, you would say he was the equivalent to an Assistant Squad Leader. Then over here, is Garcon Antely. He is for the most part an AeroCommando like the rest of you, but he also commands the Ice Element."
A sense of ease spread through the room, but confusion now ran rampant. What is this element that Rizzit was speaking of? Did that mean that he could control the element of ice? While that was a scary thought, it was also a very intriguing thought. Could this be learned? Definitely something that could come in handy.
"It seems I better explain a couple things, seeing as how our well-meaning General let the cat out of the bag." added Lieutenant Be`eje. "As I mentioned earlier, the Aerospace Corps is the culmination of your two divisions the Stormtrooper Corps and the Starfighter Corps. As such, we engage in starfighter entanglements and even gunfights on the ground. For those of you in the Navy, you know the purpose of having flights, or wings, depending on your preference of what you want to call them. You have three, four-man flights with a leader for each: The Squadron Commander, their Executive Officer, and a third Flight Leader. In the Aerospace Corps, we have Elements which work the same way for our starfighter entanglements: Fire Element, Lightning Element, and Ice Element. I command the Fire Element, Drak commands the Lightning Element, and Garcon commands the Ice Element. The elements mainly have purpose for the space battles only. When on the ground, we normally stay in our group or break off as the situations required. There is no "set" group that will break off all the time, because no one knows how the mission will play out. You adapt to the mission, not the mission to your so-called roster. Now, let's go get all set up for the simulator. Once we get in-sim as I call it, you will notice you're already equipped in our Aero Commando armor, and once we get passed the initial briefing, you will find yourself in the cockpit of your TIE Hunters. So, good luck to you all and let's see what you can do!"
