Nine years and a day ago Sk8guy recruited me into the VE. It's been an interesting, and admittedly in the early years tumultuous time, there were good times and bad times, but it has been an experience to be sure and, at least for me, a positive one. Lately my activity has waned noticeably, a result of me moving on to a new stage in my life. Having joined at 16 when one has more free time, at nearly 25 and in a doctoral programme I can no longer make even a limited amount of time for VE. At this point in my life advancing my academic career has become even more of a priority than it has ever been before, it is all-consuming in a way, and the brief moments I have away from it I honestly neither want to, nor have the stamina (with respect to writing and work in general), to spend here.
There is much I could say at the moment, but this is a very rare time that I will embrace brevity and thus say no more. I had planned for a while to retire on the 9th anniversary of my joining. As such, I hereby announce my resignation from all positions within the Vast Empire Navy and my retirement from VE. Once before I retired and returned within two months. This time it is for years and almost certainly permanent. Good luck to you all, I wish you well in your future endeavours both in VE and in real life. All the best.

Art,
You and I have obviously had our issues, but just as Darkhawk, I've always had respect for your dedication to our fine club. It is sad to see you go, because you played a vital part in forging the Navy and the VE as a whole these last 8 years. Despite being Canadian
