What about WXO?

It's not in use right now, but StOrMz and (by the looks of it) Shazam were both once WXO's

Atrasin is completely correct: if we do things using the staff members we're allowed to have, then the WC's full-time job is to look after the wing with assistance from a superior like the NTO.  A third person would, indeed, be silly.  However, as one may recall, I wasn't just the WC at the time: I was also the Training Officer (overhauling the academy) and for fairly long periods of time, the commander of Nazgul Squadron (trying to set-up an example/try new things).  Taking on three positions without help is tough, so, even though it wasn't an official thing (though we tried a couple of times), I had a kind of right-hand man most of the time.  Arturus (lol- don't scold me too bad if I forget somethin), from what I remember, was such a man and was there to help me come up with stories, starting and maintaining a number of them himself, and acted as a highly effective sounding board for a number of my ideas, including the redevelopment of the academy.  He also took on a number of projects himself, acting as an NTO, though not in name.  For instance, he was the man behind the scoring system for the 2006 ESC, and an even more complex and well-developed one in 2007.  You could say, then, that he acted in both capacities: NTO (pulling off intensive projects like the ESC), and this creation of the WXO (a kind of council, executive officer and spokesman, though the WXO wouldn't become an official position until two years later).

At the time (early to mid-2008), however, I was looking for a position where someone could help me with the day-to-day, like Art had, and yet! Just like we do with XOs moving to SC positions, someone who could slowly move in and take over the position of the WC.  Afterall, I was going to be heading off to college soon (didn't know what awaited me there) and it was never my goal to be a permanent resident of the position: there had to be some motion or direction, a circle-of-life, if you will.  So- I came up with the WXO position, and Denethor was the man I saw to have the best motivations and understanding for the job.  Obviously, out of practicality, it wouldn't have made sense for me to suggest we create someone at the position of NTO because there was no-one on staff, other than potentially myself, who could fill it. The goal in creating the position wasn't so much administrative (because Atrasin's would probably be more on target that way) as it was tactical: trying to extricate myself from the position so that someone else could take it.  If you take a look at my wiki, actually, in the descriptions for my position changes, it says just that...  If I remember correctly, lol.

Actually, I've been assigned as Nazgul 3-4?  Lol.  And thankya for the compliments- I certainly tried to do what I thought might work best in the time I was here (though I was not without fault in some of those decisions). 

In actuality, though, I'm quite indebted to the Navy: I had some pretty stellar opportunities that, in RL, are pretty hard to come by.  Not to mention, as some of you may have noticed, the constant practice of writing, whether it be in a technical or descriptive or sarcastic manner, has had a tremendous impact on my life outside the VE.  Can't tell you how many times I've been complimented on my writing, for instance, and by people I respect.  I could go on and on, lol- the insight I gained by working in a command position is really pretty invaluable, I think, too.  For those of you in command positions already- take it seriously: see what you can do differently.  Try new things.  Be inventive, lol. "Surprise me...  Defy me!"
