OOC:
I know I posted this a while back on the CC, but I was wondering if anyone else had any feedback on it. It's not totally finished yet, but if you lot think it's worth continuing then I may consider writing more on it

Helena lay tossing and turning in her thought filled slumber. The lost souls were talking to her again, calling her name. They screamed and yelled for help in their little bubble filled world. They needed help getting out and they only turn to Helena. They feel she’s the only one that can help them, make them see the light and understand them. Helena turned in her sleep to the side facing the window in what she thought was her camp bed. She wished it would leave her alone... She loved it sometimes, she liked the company of it all, but sometimes it could be a great pain.

“What do you want?!” She quietly spoke in her head.

“We want out. Now get us out Miss. We know you can see us hurting” a young voice spoke out.

A harsh nudge awoke Helena; she abruptly shot up in her bed to find she was attached to a machine. The heart monitor showed her ECG racing whilst she was in her slumber and normal as soon as she awoke. The smell of disinfectant harshly met Helena’s nose as she shook the voices from her head out. A professional looking doctor came waltzing into her room followed by Kand, who she hadn’t seen in a while.

“Hello Miss Leucine, I’m Doctor Williams. You do know where you are don’t you?”

“I’m in hospital if I’m not mistaken, but what am I doing here?” She smiled to Kand before focusing her attention back to the Doctor.

“You seem to have suffered from a seizure Miss. Now, I’ve run some tests and they seem to be normal” He smiled.

“Where was I found?” She sighed; she knew exactly what had happened. The voices made this happen to her.

“I found you out in the barracks whilst I was visiting, Helena. You seemed completely out of it. You had some sort of glazed look on your face and your body was rigid and unresponsive. That’s when I brought you here. You’ve been in that coma type trance for a few hours now” Kand spoke out.

Helena sighed before shaking her head at both of them. She didn’t want to tell them what had happened, they’d think she was some sort of manic freak and burn her for being a witch. Helena has been able to see and speak to spirits ever since she was born, although she was born with this trait she still has a lot of learning to do. It seemed to have been passed down from her mother; this was the only way her and her mother could bond together... What with her being the only daughter of the family. Helena likes to keep her trait her personal secret so no one can speak badly about her.

The coma like state is a state she goes into when she can contact with one particular spirit and has interlocked psychologically. Once Helena has done this she can switch bodies and walk around the earth in their spiritual state. This way she gets to see and feel exactly what that particular spirit has gone through in their life.

“Just tell me I can get out of here please?”

The Doctor gave a quick check at her notes and nodded briefly before going to get her clothes she could change back into. He placed them on the edge of the bed in a neatly folded pile before closing the curtain on her to get changed. She seemed to be quick on her feet and got dressed into her clothes before moments later opening the curtain again. She grabbed Kand’s hand tightly and led him out of there as quick as she could.

“So, what are we doing today? Anything good?” She tried to be as cheerful as she could. She disliked conflicting questions, so she prefers to hide things in her own quirky ways.

“Well, I have some training to do, want to give me a hand?”

“Sure thing, Medical stuff in the simulator?”

“Yup”

Helena smiled to Kand before heading out of the hospital doors. She sighed a sigh of relief before being led back to her Barracks. Not that she needed help, she just liked the company of Kand. Ever since she first glanced at him from behind the counter of her parents coffee shop she instantly fell for him. She’d never dare to tell him though, but she thought he must have had a hunch. After a few minutes of  walking and friendly hand holding they reached the Barracks. She smiled to Kand before getting changed into her medical pack gear. She loved dressing up, made her feel like a kid again.

“So, are we ready?” She smiled, blushing in her medical combat gear.

“U-Uh yeah, sure thing. Hop in, we have a medical emergency exam to take in the simulator. It’s in field combat, you’re the only medic on the field. I’m there to hold back the others and move everyone who isn’t hurt on. You prepared?” He smiled as if it was a synch.

“Uh, yeah. I think so” Helena responded with a quick nod. Stress filled thoughts weren’t her forte.

Kand quickly opened the door and let Helena in first. Helena’s heart sunk as she saw the horrifying battle scene. Bodies littered across the floor, the deep crimson blood painted the grass she stepped upon. Helena felt the heart ache of each soldier’s family having to come claim bodies later on. The dazed out Helena suddenly snapped out of it as Kand dived in to save her from a shot.

“You go sort him out over there, I’ll hold these back” he shouted over the gun fire.

“Yes sir!”

Helena quickly ran over to the injured male. He was slumped up against a hedge, his head and legs bleeding and he seemed to be not responding. Helena was so passionate about her role and jobs within the Corps she’d happily die doing her job knowing she saved at least one life. She quickly dumped the stuff out of her backpack and propped it behind his head. She then checked his vital signs and checked he was still breathing, which all seemed fine. She then tried to wake him up out of unconsciousness.

“Sir? Hello, can you hear me?”

The dazed man slowly started coming round, he was unaware of what had happened so he tried to jump to his feet. Luckily Helena had already had quick thinking and restrained him down. She explained to him slowly what had happened and that she had to move him to a safer place. Luckily the man agreed to be treated and moved. Helena splinted up his leg and bandaged his head tightly to reduce the bleeding until she could attend to him properly in a safer place in the battle ground. Helena turned her body to see Kand fending off people in the middle of the firing line.

“Kand, I’m moving him. He won’t survive here if I treat him here. There’s a clearing just a few meters ahead of here. If I carry him and run, I won’t get hit” she shouted.

“No Hel, you’ll die yourself. Stay there. This is training remember!” He bluntly replied, firing a few shots at one guy who eventually dropped to his knees.

“Training or not, I’m not letting him die”

She picked up her bag from behind the man’s head and packed the medical supplies back in it. Her heart was racing at this point, the thought of her dying scared her, but the thought of not saving another life scared her more. She quickly checked the coast was clear before helping the man to his feet. She let the man force his weight onto her, and she led him to safety. The blood from his head dripped down her arms, it seemed to be getting worse. As soon as they reached the safe place, she placed him down on the floor. She quickly grabbed her medical bag and began blotting away the streams of blood coming from a single shot wound. He yelped in pain as Helena tried to be as gentle as she could. After that he didn’t respond. Helena laid over his body, tears running down her face, the guilt and responsibility flooded her body and she just couldn’t take it. She felt it was her fault. His body laid there, still and cold. His skin felt smooth but cold, and started turning a light blue colour as time went on. She stayed there for a while, just cursing to herself.

“I’m so sorry” she whispered…

Suddenly she found herself back into the simulation room, tears still streaming down her face. Kand was quick to give her a hug and reassure her it wasn’t her fault and that it was the whole point of the simulation. He wanted to see how determined she was in her job and how far she would go to save a life. Helena hugged Kand tight before retreating to her bunk. She needed time alone to herself. The rough material of the pillow rubbed against her cheek as the tears made the pillow saturated. She finally cried herself to sleep with so much guilt resting upon her shoulders.

For the most part, I didn't see anything really wrong. One thing I did notice is you have a tendency to capitalize things that don't need to be capitalized. For instance, you don't need to capitalize 'doctor' unless it's used as a title, with a name. I noticed that somewhere. Also, you capitalized 'barracks' somewhere as well. A minor issue, but it's there.

Also, watch your grammar and mechanics, especially around quotations. I'm not going to go into all the little details of said grammar and mechanics, because frankly I don't know them all. This link is an excellent resource though:

The only other really wrong thing I noticed (and I use the term 'wrong' hesitantly) is that in at least one place you switched tenses on us. Make sure that you keep writing in the same tense, and that tense should usually be the past tense.

That's about it, I think. I may edit this if other things catch my eye. Again, hopefully someone infinitely more skilled at this kind of stuff will come along and give you some better advice.

Cheers.

Thanks Jeg, I do tend to have those issues but I'm hopefully in the process of sorting them out with the more I write. Practise makes perfect eh?
