As announced at this week's meeting we are having an Army Medal Naming competition. Thanks goes to First Lieutenant Riqimo for providing the medal descriptions.
The rules of this will be simple...each member who wishes to participate will be allowed ONE post of THREE guesses per medal. Duplicate or secondary posts will be removed from this thread.
The names should be related to Star Wars and even more so the Empire. For each entry of yours that is selected you will receive your choice of 100,000 ICs OR some highly rare and expensive merchandise from your favorite Imperial Center Store.
Okay so without further adieu, here are the medals we need names for:
Writing Medal (WM)
WM1: At various times there will be a few fine members of the corps whose posts simply shine above the average, whose quality of writing is a joy to read and something for others to aspire to. These members lead the way in the hobby we share and deserve to be recognized for it, hence this award, given by the corps to one of it;s own in gratitude for the skill and dedication they show.
WM2: Every story relies on the participation if it's members, there is no story without posts being submitted and troopers taking part. However some members do rise above their peers in not only writing when they need to but looking for posts they might write. These are the people who always manage to find something to offer up for their fellows and always manage to give that little bit more of their time and effort keeping the story or campaign alive and moving.
WM3: The members make up the community but the characters make up the core of the Vast Empire, without them there is no connection between the writers and the story they are writing for. Some writers however do manage to take this further, they manage to create vibrant, excellent characters that bring extra life to the groups they are a part of. This award recognises those people who manage through skill and dedication to achieve such, to imagine and write up the complex, deep, interesting characters that form the basis of our connection with the Vast Empire.
WM4: Essentially the heart of any campaign and any story is the plot that encapsulates the environment that the characters are a part of, the story that they the troopers have come together to write. This story often starts with the commander of the unit but rarely remains their sole province, instead, like plans in a battle, they are soon franchised out to the members in the story and often changed near beyond recognition by that process. This is rarely a bad thing, and sometimes can even be a great thing. This award recognises those members that achieve this greatness, the people who not only participate in the plot but add to it in such a way that it becomes greater still, those that give of themselves so that all of us can be part of a greater story.
WM5: A wise man once described drama as the distillation of human interaction, it is born from conflict but much more than simple fighting and it is at the heart of any interesting story. It is often overdone and occasionally overblown but it is always needed to keep any story engaging and interesting. This award recognises those that manage to blend the best in moderation and storyteller's inspiration to create situations of real drama that their fellows can look forward to reading, that raise the story they are a part of above the ordinary.
Okay so now that you know what they are feel free to start submitting entries. Entries will be accepted up until 12:01 AM PST on Sunday, February 1st 2009. This should give you plenty of time to think of names.
NOTE: Just because you are allowed a total of 15 guesses does not mean you have to use them. However, if you do not use them you forfeit them.
So basically I want to see posts like this
