The two squadrons filtered into the meeting room and took their seats. There was a nervousness in the room that they weren't used to, as reports of Rear Admiral Riel Fury's capture had recently come through the rumor mill. The content of their next mission would surely deal with that.
Commodore Darkhawk entered the room quietly. He stood at the front of the room and glanced over the room deliberately before he spoke. "As you probably have heard, the Naval Executive Officer has been captured while on an intelligence gathering mission around the planet Volek. He was in the Corellian Corvette
Furious One when he was captured, and he didn't manage to get a transmission off before the ship was crippled." He paused for a second and stared into the faces of the pilots gathered in front of him. "We're going to rescue him."
A voice chirped up from the back of the room. "Doesn't this sound like more of a job for the Army?"
"He's our boss, he's our job," Darkhawk replied. There was a silent agreement through the room. "Now, this is going to be a joint mission between Viper Squadron, Nazgul Squadron, and the newly formed Task Force Alpha." A small group of people in the back of the room raised their hands. "You may recognize many of them. They came up from the ranks of pilots and are now commanding small capital ships."
The lights dimmed and a hologram of a planet came up on screen. "Volek is a world that is populated by a smuggling operation with ties to the New Republic. They have a small platform where they do business, as well as a base on land where we think they are housing the Admiral. Viper, your mission will be to rescue him. You will be going down in a Bulk Freighter that is housing your TIE Fighters inside. You will be going down to the planet as another smuggling group trying to form an alliance with the smuggler chief Nobunaga. We don't have much intel from the ground, but there seems to be one compound where there is more activity than anywhere else, so you'll be landing there. The goal is to find the Admiral, spirit him out and get off the planet quickly. There will be a TIE Defender housed within the Freighter for the escape. When you take off from the planet you can expect a considerable amount of resistance, so we expect you to have to jettison the Freighter as you exit the atmosphere and scramble into defensive formations. You will also be providing cover for Nazgul Squadron as they finish their portion of the mission."
"Nazgul, your mission will be to destroy the
Furious One. The ship had a considerable amount of intelligence on board. To prevent this from getting out on the market, it is absolutely imperative that the ship does not get it's files infiltrated. You will enter the system with Task Force Alpha on my Strike Cruiser and scramble immediately. Riel's ship was modified with a flight deck, and you will have to make your way there and land on the deck quickly, and we assume under fire. We don't know what type of resistance you'll meet on the ship, but expect heavy small arms fire. We would like you to make your way to the bridge and retrieve the intel, then make your way to the engines, set explosives, and get off the ship before it blows. As you exit the ship Viper should be exiting the planet and will be able to provide cover for you. The Strike Cruiser's hangar isn't big, but it should fit both of you in there, so make your way to it and squeeze in. When you are on board, we will jump to hyperspace."
Darkhawk took a drink of water and continued. "Task Force Alpha, this will be your first mission together. We will jump into the system and engage whatever ships the smugglers have organized. We are expecting your usual array of smuggler ships, with the biggest we'll probably face being a corvette. However, I expect them to buzz around in their freighters and small fighters like gnats, so it won't be easy. We're going to need to put a lot of pressure on them to make sure Nazgul makes it to the Admiral's ship in one piece. The second we have the fighters on board, we will be jumping out of the system. Are there any questions?"
There was a silence in the room as the pilots seemed ready to get on with their mission. "We will be departing at 0600 tomorrow, so get prepared and good hunting."

Alright, so there's the mission. Nazgul will infiltrate the corvette, retrieve the intelligence, and then destroy it, Viper will go down and rescue little ol' me, and Task Force Alpha will provide cover for both.
I want you to each form your own topics (I personally don't care who starts it, that's up to your SC) and I hope you have fun. I wanted to give you all some time out of the ship, especially after the claustrophobia that must have ensued from The Last Man Standing.
