I guess this is a good place to post as any *shrugs*
I know Kai told me not to bother with this, but I needed something to do 
What I have here is a model of my Vast Empire Databank, which should seem somewhat familiar to your tracking sheets ( Clicky) only in a more accessible format.
This prototype is centered around a test trooper of me, who has all needed info displayed. There is an admin interface that is still a bit buggy and will be shared later once I find out what in the long code is causing me trouble 
Now a brief overview of what the databank will do. Let us start with the Trooper profile( Clicky). In the actual system, only the trooper and his/her higher ups may view this page. From the top it displays basic info such as character name, rank, squad, etc.
Then comes one of my gems, an auto generating ID line. If you change squads, platoons, rank, postition, get meadls, etc. the ID line will automatically update and create itself.
Continuing on, a loverly post count box that displays how many posts of different types you made in the past week and in your VE career. This table should update every Saturday.
Then the last report table displays the last report (obviously). Reports will be possible to submit through the databank in a similar manner to the Eclipse Report Bot, which is currently moving out of beta stage to be integrated into this databank.
You may have also noticed the cool buttons, which currently are disabled. This is because these pages are not completelycoded or debugged, but they are planned as follows:
Specs: Keeps track of spec progress, it also gives some helpful resources for the stories. More details will be given as soon as they are available.
Skills:: Lists the skills of the trooper. More details will be given as soon as they are available.
Report History: Self explanatory
Bio: Self explanatory
Any help will be appreciated and recognized in some way, ICs from me probably. So if you wish to help out in any way, please let me know. You don't need to know php coding and what not, I got that more than covered. Basically it would be some research stuff i'll need.

It would be very cool if this could be integrated into the roster and comnet somehow (though I can foresee a considerable amount of restructuring going on unless the API is very clever), so that story posts and the like automatically update the profile. That would make AWOL checks a whole bucketload easier. Make a flag for on-leave and the SL or PC or whatever can request a report from the system where anyone whose activity has been zero for x weeks and is not on leave is automatically listed as AWOL.
I'm getting a bit OTT now, mainly because I love automation. Anyway, a couple ideas thrown out there. -----------------------

Leave flags... yes that would be a great thing to add and I certainly can make an Auto AWOL check that even sends a warning email out one week before they actually become AWOL.
It can also mark leave history into the Enlistment History as well.
Integrated with the roster I can see possible with barely any extra coding, the comnet though... I doubt it for various reasons.

Looks good.
I've been playing with the idea of somehow keeping track of the various ComNet posts for a while, but I never got anything past the drawing board.
The only way I could see how the post-counting would work is if either the topic itself had some kind of script that kept track of the total number of posts an individual made and added it to the total sum on the trooper's databank file - or just plain up counting it by hand :P
I know a lot of organizations have this: a profile-like page listing the trooper's medals, awards, training history, etc. You might be able to fit this into the current roster system already, I don't know.
Anyway, looks good. I'd go for it. -----------------------

Or integrate it into the report system which is what I did
Basically when reports are sent they have something similar to this and then when the SL get ready to send the squad report they can edit the info to make sure it is right before sending their reports.
So it is sorta manual, but in a way automatic since this would be done anyways -----------------------

A way of tracking post counts would be to add a flag to the topic creation screen whereby you can flag a topic as a Squad Story or a Competition Story or whatever, and then use that and the date to calculate weekly and career totals. Done right, you could add and remove (well, add) topic flags at will. -----------------------

Ahh, nice. Didn't even think of that. Adding check-boxes to the posts to identify them as competition, squad, etc.
That'd be awesome - we have medals that can be awarded to to storynet post counts, but I don't think one member in the history of the VE has been awarded any of those. :P -----------------------

Actually, Cos, I got the story post medal, and I've been keeping story post count for my entire Platoon. It's not that hard if people just don't fall behind. And even if they do, which I've done once or twice, it takes only about thirty minutes to catch up. -----------------------

A navy version can be done rather quickly with a few modifications, so as soon as this is army one is done, it can be easily arranged for you.

Only "downside" I see to this is that it's acting like a "second roster" of sorts when we only really need one. Now, if this idea could be incorporated into the roster we have now, then that'd be great.

Well I will admit my CF skills are near nil, while my php skills are well honed... so... I really can only do basic scripts in CF coding, I probably have enough knowledge to find someway to make this into the current roster once I figure out a few small details
