FAMILY TIES

9 A.B.Y/ Eclipse Barracks/ Garet's Office/ 0500 Tadath time.

"Common Boss, It would get me out of your hair. Not to mention it's one less person to keep track of, or mouth to feed whichever your prefer." RK was desperate. He hadn't been back to his home planet in months. Not  only that, he missed his family. Most of all his Girlfriend.

"I told you already, we need you here, anything could come up at any time." Garet said, he looked RK in the eye. He was intimidating him seeing if he would try again.

"Listen, Boss." RK paused, he was going to pull a card he didn't want to pull this early in his quest to get some off time. "You have family, you ever miss them?"

"Don't you start on my personal life RK." Garet warned him, but RK kept at it.

"That's not what I asked." RK said, fighting back a grin.

"Yes, I do. But this isn't about me." He picked up a file and straightened the papers inside.

"I know, but if you got a chance to visit them wouldn't you take the chance?"

"Yes, but---"

"So what's different if one soldier goes on a little leave, It's not like I am going to be gone forever." RK paused to catch his breath. He didn't know if he was winning the fight or losing it. " It's just a family reunion, a little get together."

There was a brief moment of silence. RK knew Garet well, he wasn't one to give up easily, even if his trooper was beating him in a debate. "Listen RK, I would love to let you go, but we are recon. If we are missing on person---"

"Then it's easier to search a base, that's one less person to keep track of." This time RK couldn't fight back a smile.

"You know what, I am going to---"

" Sergeant Garet Daimun, May I come in." RK turned to see Brightstar standing in the door way with Riqimo right behind her, either she did something wrong, or she was afraid to approach Garet.

"Yea, it would be nice to have someone to talk to other than this, person, breathing down my neck for leave." Garet smiled this time. RK didn't find it amusing, he could have at least added some more enthusiasm to his language, or added a better word than, person.

"Thank you." Bright stepped in and Riqimo turned to leave as if Bright didn't know he was there, or she wasn't supposed to.

"HEY DOC! I could use your help in here, something tells me these corporals are going to gang up on me."
Bright and RK exchanged looks. They weren't thinking the same thing, but they both implied it.

"Uh, yea, I am sorta... Busy." Riqimo said peeping his head into the office. RK looked at Riq, he was blushing. Oh, Brother. If it isn't one thing it's always another.

"Aww common, we could have a party." Garet looked up from his desk, trying his best to get some help with RK and his never ending cascade of bombardment.

"Alright, I guess I could stay for a while. Only until whatever this is is over."

"That's more like it." Garet looked at RK " Now what did you want?" RK knew what Garet was thinking. He thought RK would stop because now there were to Higher ranking officials in here; and that Riq would back him up on his decision. Hopefully, RK could turn the tables.

"I want to go on leave, to see my 'family' you do know what that is right?" RK grinned, loving every moment of it. He heard Bright and Riq chuckle a little behind him. Until Garet pounded his fist on the table.

"Yes, as a matter of fact I do." An awkward pause followed. "I already told you know."

"But Garet, it's just for a while, common, he's doing worst damage here than he would in Coruscant." Riq piped up. "I don't know what the big deal is."

RK was right, it was easy to turn the tables on his own boss.

Garet gave Riq a warning look, as if to say, Your not helping . Garet sighed, he wasn't getting anywhere. "Alright RK , take your leave. Just don't come crawling back to me when we are deployed, cause you ain't coming."

"YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAA!" RK was excited. He missed coruscant, most of all he missed his family and Rachel. Hopefully nothing had changed much. Hopefully.

-Eclipse Barracks/RK's quarters/ 0540 Tadath Time.-

RK sat on his bed, his stuff was already packed, of course he knew Garet would give in if he persisted long enough. His Guns lay neatly on the bed as if he was selling them to a mercenary. He needed to take some of them, but without his Katarn armor, it was useless. Besides he was just a civilian. He wasn't a stormtrooper, he wasn't a Corporal. He was just Ryan, not RK, Just ryan. That would all change when he got back, but for now that's what he was.

He thought back to his family, how would they react when they saw him? Thoughts filled his mind. Things of the past and future. Will Rachel recognize me? What about my little bro? he never thought about it until now, he was so distant from them. In another world, another time.

"I can't sit here thinking, I gotta go." RK stood up and grabbed his duffel bag. He felt awkward without a gun or any protection, but most civilians didn't carry on, but he decided to grab a couple before he left. He grabbed his DC-17m and all the changeable systems so that he could switch if he needed to. He also grabbed his DC-15s pistol.

AS he holstered them and put the one in his bag he felt like a Republic Commando, one of the elites, the predecessors of the army. How they used the guns he had chosen. He looked down at his duffel bag, and his other bag. Which he knew was going to be hard to smuggle. Considering he had his Katarn Armor. The problem with that was, he always felt like something was going to happen when he left the barracks, so he had to have some type of armor with him. And if there was one armor he trusted it was the Katarn armor.

"Well, I better get going before Garet changes his mind." He turned and faced his room. He was going to miss it for the short time he was going to be gone, but he had to admit, it was going to be fun getting back to see his flesh and blood family. Even though Eclipse started to feel like a Flesh and blood family, it wasn't the same.

He stood in the door way, looking at the room, he couldn't get up the nerve to leave. But he did eventually; And that's all that mattered.
