Apologies for the late and non-existent responses.
I was out in the Caribbean for the past couple weeks with minimal connection. Had enough time home to whip up Thanksgiving dinner and am currently in Reno on a server build. Might have time to address things this weekend but am back out in the Caribbean on St. Maarten next Monday - Thursday, then home for a couple weeks until Christmas comes upon us.
Like they said, busy.
Hopefully the new year starts out a bit slow, only a trip to Oklahoma that I'm aware of.

And the items are expensive Sayah to make it more realistic. If things were cheap, like having a starfighter or special armor for a few hundred credits, it would ruin the point of realism which the HC (High Council) try to maintain a lot.

Because Business is business.
If the product sells, why lower the price? Sure there may be a high demand for it, but the demand seems to consist of most people living below the breadline(such as you )
Then there is the market fully able and willing to pay for it. The price they pay makes up for the many of you who can't pay. And besides, most of them worked to have this.
You don't even have to work hard, if you work smart with your stocks you should be fixed no problem in the near future.
So in short, the price is determined by the popularity and demand of the product in some cases.

Seriously, I think it should probably be made clear by someone (Fury, Kadann, etc.) that though the ICS sells battle droids and such, I highly doubt they were ever put on there to use in actual stories. Its just one of those fun items. Having 400 battle droids doesn't really mean your character has them or can use them in stories. Think about it, the Droid Federation was basically destroyed and their droid production ended. That's why in later books when Luke and Mara stumbled upon and old Droideka, they barely knew what it was and it was very very old. Battle droids aren't used anymore in this time period. Sure, you might have the very random rare one.
Now, there are modern day battle droids, but their are powerful, expensive, and are known as assassin droids most of the time. If you need a reference, they were guarding Thrawn's clone tank in his fortress, the Hand of Thrawn, I believe (Meaning if I'm remembering correctly ). Anyways, I would really advise not using the old B-1 and B-2 style droids in your writing. Also, I'm not an official person, but it would probably be best to ask one of the HC about it.
I know this is fun and it's science fiction, but let's try to stay within the realms of logic and the history of the SW universe.

If you are going to use your droids in stories, just keep it reasonable. There are plans in place that will highly regulate the use of these and other items in stories in the future.
You just have to remember if you're going to use droids in a story, you'll have to account for transportation of the droids, power, extra weapons/ammo, etc. Given the tight quarters on the drop-ships, it may not even be possible to bring your 'droid army' or even one droid with you into battle.
Check with your commanders to see if they will even allow you to bring droids into battle with you. -----------------------
