Riqimo heard his datapad signal he had a new message.  Seeing it was Kairo, he read it with anticipation:

---------
TO: Private First Class Riqimo
FROM: Gunnery Sergeant Kairo
SUBJECT: Medic Specialization
BODY: You have been accepted into the Vast Empire Medic cerification program, congratualtions.  Please note that the program is not entirely completed, so you may need to report to me a bit more than usual.  I know you decided on this specialty because you want to make an important difference in your squad.  Please note that this may be the most difficult specialization certification, however, I am confident that you will succed.  Please report to my office for your first training manual.  Good luck.
-PC/GSG Kairo/2PLT/1COMP/1BAT/1RGT/Tadath/VEA/VE [CDS][BoA][CoR][BC][CoV][IH]
---------

Yes! I've been accepted! thought Riqimo, eager to report to Kairo.

...

"Private First Class Riqimo reporting for duty, sir," Riqimo saluted.

"Ah yes, at ease.  Bit anxious to start aren't you?" asked Kairo.
"Well here is your first training manual, it contains three chapters, just focus on chapter one for now, which is titled 'Injury Screening and Diagnosis'"

"Yes sir, I will study this intensely as if my life and my squad members' life depended on this, which actually is true," replied Riqimo.

"Good to hear that, now I don't mean to be rude, but need you to leave now, I have a meeting I have to catch," said Kairo

"No problem, sir"

"Just let me know when you think you are ready to move on."

---------

Riqimo spent much of the night studying the first chapter until lights-out.  The three days later during first mess, Riqimo ran into Kairo and reported he was ready.

"That was quick, well report to the medical facility tomorrow at 1500 hours to meet with our head of medical staff on Tadath, Dr. Godot (Note: pronounced "Go-dough" ... it is a French name), he'll be expecting you," responded Kairo

---------

"Dr. Godot?" asked Riqimo.

"Yes that would be I," answered Dr. Godot, "you must be Riqimo, Kairo told me to expect you, said you had promise to become a medic."

"I am flattered that you say so, but I know I still have much to learn before I can truly deserve that praise," replied Riqimo

"Well, I am sure you won't have much of a problem with that at all looking at you records.  That aside, I will be your teacher as you progress along your medic training, now you read Chapter one of our training manual right?"

"Yes sir, 'Injury Screening and Diagnosis,'" answered Riqimo.

"Good, now of you will come through these doors, oh wait, here is your id card that will allow you staff access to the medical facility."

Riqimo and Dr. Godot entered a bright room with several beds on the far wall, "These are some troopers checked-in from a recent mission, you are to look at their wounds and determine what they are and how serious they are, based on the scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the least severe," said Dr. Godot.

"Yes sir, all this was listed in the the training manual, so it shouldn't that hard, are you sure you want me to do this though?" asked Riqimo

"Yes, not to worry though, our medical droids have already screened them, so you are pretty much a second opinion, I will corret any mistakes you may make. Now the first one here, he is still unconcious from an artillery shell landing nearby, your thoughts please," Dr. Godot requested.

"Well if there was an artillery shell, then most likely severe hearing issues will be present when the patient awakes, which will intensify the shock that will arrive with waking up without knowing where he is.  Looking at his physical condition, he seems rather healthy except for a few bruises and cuts.  I would say about a 3 because he will need constant monitoring for when he awakes to calm him down." answered Riqimo.

"Hmm, very good I'm impressed, you did missed his sprained ankle, which we believe may have happened when he was attempting to get away from the artillery shell," corrected Dr. Godot, "As for your ranking of serverity, we actually gave him a 4 so you did well.  Now for the next patient, she was in the same squad, but she was hit with blaster fire a little earlier and was evacuated before the artillery was fired."

"Well besides the obvious pain she is in, I would say she is fine, just needs to keep her left arm elevated as it is.  She also needs to be kept warm, and refrain from excessive moving.  I would say a 7," stated Riqimo.

"Very good, she does need all that you suggest, you also assigned the proper severity rank.  Let's move on to the last, the Assistant Leader of the squad, he recieved a sniper shot through the torso, the combat medical staff removed the bullet and put him into semi-paralysis before sending him to us."

"Well, looking at these x-rays he seems perfectly okay, the combat squad took good care of him, I say a 9 because he is almost recovered," stated Riqimo

"I'll admit this was a trick question, if those were his only ailments you would be right, however he took a nasty fall after being shot, and if you would look here, you can see a nice bumb on his head," Dr. Godot replied.

"So he needs constant monitoring for any signs of mental instability or any resulting physical problem such as blood clot in the area; with that info I must change it to a 1," Riqimo corrected himself.

"Yes, very good, it seems you have a very good grasp on the concepts, I'll contact Kairo and tell him you may progress on with your medical training," Dr. Godot praised.

"Thank you sir, that means much coming from you," replied Riqimo before retiring to his barracks.

(OOC Good for your first attempt, especially since this is basically the first actual long post on something you've done. Just a few little things. You won't have to report to me during these specialties in the stories until much later, if ever. You will have a supervisor who will grade you and then decide if you should move on, then give you the appropriate materials. What you did is fine for the first one, but probably the Dr. will be the only one you have to talk to from now on. Also, I would have liked maybe some details of how your character was examining them. Maybe looking over the records next to his bed, or examining his body. Meaning, instead of just having your character say what the ailment and assessment are, write about how he came to that conclusion. Maybe write about what he is thinking. To do that, we generally use italics. So, just keep those two things in mind next time. Grammar and spelling were good. I'll probably be a bit stricter on the criteria next time, so be warned. )

Heavy Weapons specialist:
Fire support tactics.

Jag walked in to the simulation building looking around for the room were the heavy weapons teacher was. After five minutes of searching Jag finally found him. He walked in and noticed there were three other heavy weapons specialists to-be.

The teacher looked at him and said, "Private First Class Fel so nice of you to join us. Seeing as Ive already explained to these three the specifications of this particular weapon?" The last part of the sentence was spoken with some slight amusement as if he'd never know what it was.

Jag surveyed the weapon and replied, "It appears to be an E-WEB heavy blaster class."

The teachers humour was still obvious in his tone. "What makes you say "class" Fel?"

"Because sir it's an EHWB-10 repeating blaster modified from the E-WEB due to its unlimited rate of fire."

The humour replaced with with a sense of proudness that at least someone knew what he was talking about replied. "Very good, but seeing as you know so much about this type of weapon have you ever used it before?"

Jag replied, thinking about that time on Coruscant where it all came crashing down around him before he came here. "That was a long time ago sir..." There was a cold sweat running down his back after snapping out of that memory hed sooner have forgotten.

"Well seeing as you have had some experience with this type of weapon lets see how good your accuracy and efficiency are in this simulation."

Jag didn't want to be the first one after the last time he used it. But then again he was the teacher. After he positioned himself behind the weapon, suddenly the simulation was activated and everything had an orange tint due to the fact that the sun was setting. The teacher said, "All right listen up. This is how its going to work. Fel your mission is to not let any of the rebel forces get past you. We will be your squad mates and we will be giving you slight cover fire with a limited stock of ammo. The longer you last the more forces there will be. You must not let any pass you within a certain time or fail the mission. You must protect us for twenty five minutes before reinforcements arrive. Understood?" Before Jag could Reply he said. "Ready? Good. Computer start simulation!"

Jag in position looked through the sight of the weapon and seen the crest of the hill where he could just begin to see theheads of the forces. He took careful aim in the beginning because he knew he wouldnt have another chance to make his efficency and accuracy much higher. When they came in forces that were starting to overwhelm him he decided to just try and spray certain areas and any of them to the left and right he would take more care. He felt a pain along his left arm and realised that the rebel's were starting to shoot. With the pain he became more reckless and  in the end he was covered with sweat from the pain the simulator was giving him and fatigue but he managed to succeed with the twenty five minute period.

The teacher shouted, "Well done Fel you had a 54% weapon efficiency and a 57% weapon accuracy well done!

Jag was relieved now, that was over with and he asked the teacher, "Sir will you require me for the simulation of the other three?" He asked this with hope in his voice because all he wanted to do was go back to his bunk and lie down.

"You're not that lucky Fel." He said this as a fact as if he knew eberything about Fel. "Ive read your personal file and I knew that you'd used this weapon before. And I also know everything you've put down about what happeed on Coruscant."

Jag tried to interrupt but he cut him off, "Listen up everyone you three will be taken over by a simulation programme ive written. That means there will be a hologram of me telling you what to do with strict protocol! When you've all finished join me and Fel accross the hall where you will begin your obstacle training"

Jag once again not liking being the first one to do something followed the teacher accross the hall. The simulation was already up with a wall in front of them. "All right Fel this is where it gets really interesting. I want you to find the stress point on this wall and i will give you a selection of three weapons to destroy the wall to let the simulated squad pass."

Jag was worried. He had never done anything like this before but he had to try. He thought he was all ready lucky once today maybe it will happen again. He replied, "I'll do my best sir!"

Jag looked for the stress point by slowly moving his hand accross the middle of the wall after about three quarters of the way accross the wall he felt a loose piece of brick. He managed to pull it out and said, "Sir I believe I've found the stress point."

The teacher said, "Excelent now come here and select the weapon you want to use." Jag walked to a table and found a  PLX-2 Portable Missile Launcher, Starcat Grenade Launcher and a V-Web Portable Blaster Artillery Piece. Jag looked at them and asked, "Does it matter how many shots i use?"

He replied, "No as long as it's one magazine or less. Well then which one do you wish to use?"

Jag dedcided, "I'll use the starcat grenade launcher sir." He picked it up and made sure he was at a safe distance. He tried to make careful aim for that hole in the wall and then he realised that it wouldnt be a stress point if it came out so easily so he aimed for directly below the hole. He fired and the grenade hit it's mark and the wall camecrumbling down.

The teacher applauded and said, "Very good im gladyou didnt fall for shooting directly into the hole otherwise you would of failed. Well done you may go now."

Jag saluted and walked away.

Excellent work. One of the better specialties I've read recently. The grammar could use a few touch ups, but that happens to everyone. Great use with the gun at the end. That's the kind of thing I'm looking for. A special use of the weapons or skills the specialty gives you to accomplish the mission the specialty story assigns.

Medic: Level One: Story Two: Advanced First Aid

"Hello, Dr. Godot, I am ready to continue my training with Advanced First Aid," said Riqimo.

"Ah, yes, I got your message.  Here we have our medic sim unit, where you will have realistic patient scenarios.  Are you ready to start?" Asked Dr. Godot.

"Yes sir, I am ready," replied Riqimo.

"Very well, let me start up the sim."

----------

Once inside the dark sim chamber Riqimo gave Dr. Godot an okay and suddenly he was immersed in what looked like the Hoth battle that he had heard about so many times.  "Medic! Medic! Over here!" cried a snowtrooper.

"Coming!" shouted Riqimo slushing through the snow.
I could have been given a warning that this sim simulates temperatures too... thought Riqimo as a cold wind brushed against his helmet.

"Our squad leader just fell over, he needs help!" a snowtrooper stated.

"Okay, it is probably hypothermia, let's get him warmed up right now.  You there take his armor off.  The white is not going to help as it will reflect the heat," ordered Riqimo.

Okay let's see here, hypothermia... got to check for frostbite too... thought Riqimo.

Pointing to another trooper that was standing around the squad leader Riqimo said, "You take his gloves and boots off, let me see his hands and feet, then put some dry ones on if I say its okay.  I need someone to call to evacuate him back behind the lines immediately."

"I'll do that, sir," stated a tall snowtrooper.

Riqimo quickly checked the injured soldiers hands and feet and found them unaffected by frostbite.  That's a relief, thought Riqimo.

Pulling out a sleeping bag, Riqimo slid the SL into it.  "You there soldier, get in there with him, he cannot generate enough heat by himself to warm the sleeping bag," Riqimo shouted over the blaster fire incoming, "The rest of you, return fire, I can't help him if I'm hit."

The other troopers snickered at the thought of two of their mates in the same sleeping bag, but Riqimo didn't care, he was going to save this soldier.  Huh, wait.. this is a sim... I shouldn't be this worked up about it... whoever programmed this one I gotta congratulate.

Soon, a speeder pulled up and the soldier was taken back to the field medical facility.

Suddenly it blacked out.

Dr. Godot came on the speaker in Riqimo's sim helmet and practically shouted into his ear, "Good job Riqimo, I impressed, I have had some trainees give up on that sim before.  Let's try one more before we call it quits."

Ow... guess he doesn't know he can whisper and I can still hear him... Riqimo told himself as he recoiled from the sudden, loud praise.

As quickly as it blacked out, Riqimo found himself with a four man recce squad in a jungle.

Now this looks like something more practical for me to do

Suddenly blaster fire came out the brush ahead.  Riqimo ducked to the overgrowth on the side of the path.  He heard a scream and saw one of the troopers fall.  I've gotta get him out of the way thought Riqimo... "Hey boys, cover me, I'm getting our mate off the path," Riqimo told the other two troopers.  They began firing at the enemy, causing the enemy to ceasefire a little, which in turn allowed Riqimo to pull the hit soldier off the path.

Okay, time for the four B's... Breathing... Riqimo removed the trooper's helmet.  Oh, it's a wookiee, great... and nope he isn't breathing... damn you Godot, you have got to be kidding me..

Riqimo sighed and began EAR (Exhaled Air Resuscitation) Nothing against wookiee's but I hope I never have to do EAR on one in reality  After about two minutes, the wookiee was breathing again.

phttt... Great, he's breathing now... now check Bleeding and Breaks... Riqimo thought as he examined the wookiee.

"Grenade!" screamed on of the recce squad members.

"Ah shit!" Riqimo said as he saw the grenade inbound.  He quickly grabbed the wookiee's helmet and placed it over the grenade and threw his body over the helmet. I would get a medal for this, if this wasn't a damn hard sim

The grenade exploded with very little injury to anyone.  In fact only a few bruises to Riqimo.  Geez... I'm gonna have to doctor myself after this sim... forget about congrats, I'm gonna kill whoever programmed these sims

Okay where was I... oh yeah Bleeding and Breaks... good none.  now onto burns, plenty of those.  Good thing most of them are superficial, just one deep one Riqimo stated to himself as he continued his examination.

Out of the corner of his eye he saw a few enemy soldiers trying to sneak around to attack from behind.  I thought this was a test of my medical skills, not combat too Riqimo thought as he grabbed for his E-11.

After that problem was taken care of, Riqimo turned to the deep burn, he kept the blisters alone.  They hold the fluid in, they actually help, ironic, painful, but nonetheless ironic.

Riqimo suddenly realized that he forgot to call for help on his comlink the heat of the moment, "Zerek Base, Zerek Base, this is Jenth Recce squad.  We are taking fire in..." Riqimo glanced at his wrist map, "...Quad Four, Sector Seven, we have a trooper down. Over..."

"This is Zerek Base, we are sending a gunship in, ETA is thirty minutes... over."

"Thanks, Jenth Recce over and out."

Great that's over, now to dress this wound with a bandage.

"Agrhh!" the wookiee was coming to, and was beginning to trash in his pain.

Oh, shit, an angry and wounded wookiee..

"Agrh grwol drrorr gerr dwol," Riqimo attempted to calm the wookiee.  Well, that didn't work, guess I'll have to tranquilize him...

After injecting a tranquilizer into the wookiee, Riqimo returned a few shoots at the enemy and quickly dressed and bandaged the worst burns.

"Jenth Recce, do you read? Jenth Recce, do you read?" the gunship pilot came over Riqimo's comlink.

"This is Jenth, we are pinned down, you will see smoke soon, concentrate fire on that spot," Riqimo ordered as he pulled out his smoke grenade.  Riqimo pulled the pin and threw it towards the enemy's direction.

Soon, there was heavy fire and explosions and then silence.

"Jenth Recce, you alright?"

"Yes we are, land in the clearing two hundred kilometers to the east, we'll meet you there."

"Roger that."

Riqimo looked the wookiee... two hundred meters of dragging a wookiee through the overgrowth... great...  "You there," Riqimo pointed to one of the squad mates, " lead the path and make sure there are no ambushes ahead."

"Yes sir," responded the trooper who pulled out his virosword to start hacking his way to the clearing.

"And you, help me pull this wookiee outta here..." Hkeek nkulla thought Riqimo.

After 200 meters of dragging a wookiee and getting branches swapped against his helmet, Riqimo and his squad made it to the gunship.

Suddenly the sim ended and Dr. Godot congratulated Riqimo, "That was quite impressive, I was especially amazed at what you did with the grenade.  That probably wouldn't have happened if you called for support earlier, but impressive nonetheless.  You have passed this stage of your training."

"Thank you, sir" Riqimo saluted before quickly walking out for his barracks.  If any of his other sims are like that then I'm gonna wind up getting killed through sims... Now what does this manual say for quick bruise cures...?

Nice job again. First, nice work with all the medical stuff. Second, good work with introducing some thoughts and things. It is a nice way to show what Riq is doing to the person without a long boring paragraph. Now, don't go overboard with it. Try to tone it down a tiny bit and maybe put in one or two of those long boring paragraphs. Sometimes they aren't boring to the reader though writing them may be time consuming. I kind of frown upon you surviving a grenade blowing up byputting a helmet on top of it. In all likelihood, the blast would have blown the helmet to fragments, continued to expand, hit you and the people around with the blast, but with the added fragments of the helmet, hit you with shrapnel. Just something to think about in the future. Keep up the good work.

(OOC I dedcided to go for a longer 1 sim then 2 but if you want more length Kairo I will do the other sim mission)

Heavy Weapons: Level 1
Story 2: Indirect Fire operations.
_________________________________

Jag heard a beeping sound coming from his belt, it was only after he recognised the sound that he realised it was his comlink. He pulled it out and before he could say anything he recognised the voice of the Heavy Weapons specialist teacher.

He said, "Fel get your self over to the simulation building A.S.A.P to begin the second stage of your training!"

Even before Jag could say anything he'd disconnected the connection.

Jag walked over to the building because the simulation building was on the route  to the barracks. He found the teacher in the same room as before programming a sim. He looked up and said, "Ah Fel so glad you could make it on such short notice. You will now begin the second stage of your training. Indirect fire operations, and I am assuming seeing as your from Coruscant you would not be familiar with this?"

Jag replied, "No sir and I am also not too sure of the basics for indirect fire operations."

He carried on as if Jag didn't say anything, "Now there will be two parts to your training today. Number one: Destruction. You must completely put the chosen target or target's out of action. Number two  neutralization. Here you must temporarily disable the target, and this you must remember Fel this particular one you must pass because most missions are neutralization. Now you will be in the Simulation with a squad where you are the leader. Understood? Good, computer, Begin simulation.

Jag found himself in standard stormtrooper armor but he could also feel a heavy weight on his shoulders. He shrugged his shoulders and felt straps and realised there was a bag pack on his shoulder, he pulled it off and investigated the contents. He found : a PLX-4 missile launcher and 4 PRG proton grenades. Jag thought to himself, This must be for the destruction mission. He heard through the comlink in his helmet, "When the time comes for you to use them you may only choose one. Once you have used it the weapon you haven't chosen will disappear."  If this is how every training mission is going to be I didn't know if I'll survive...

Once Jag hefted the equipment back on his shoulders, a squad appeared out of nowhere and took up defencive positions to create a perimeter. He heard in his helmet, "Now you and your team infiltrate the enemy facility and destroy all aircraft in the hangar." Jag took this all in and looked out to the facility through the bushes.

He said to the squad, "Listen up where gonna keep this simple. Where going to get over that fence undetected and kill anyone that gets in our way. Understood? All right three and four you are not to leave my side. two, five, six,  you will take point and seven, eight and nine you will be the rear guard. Move out!

Jag and his team managed to make there way over the fence and avoid the search lights. When they were over he snuck up to the security access door where there was one guard Jag managed to dispatch him quietly with his vibroblade. When they were in he ordered nine to take the guards position whilst the others moved on.

After what felt like an endless supply of the same white corridors they reached the hangar. Jag felt surprise with there only being three fighters all in a row. I thought I was beginning to understand the teacher, but looks like there's a few things I haven't figured out about him yet... . Within the range of one grenade he realised it could be done. He decided to use two for good measure. He walked up to the aircraft slowly weary of any pilot's that might surprise him. When he pulled them out he activated there magnetic bases and attached one to the starboard engine of the closest and furthest X-wing. He set the timer for five minutes hoping that would be enough time to get himself and his squad waiting in the corridor standing guard to get out.

He studied the mechanism of the grenade and hoped that he set the right time... When everything was set.

If I set the timer's wrong I hope I get an A for effort... .

Jag walked out of the room with the rest of the team. They tried reaching nine who was positioned at the door but had no reply. After a moment of thought Jag dedcided, "Let's see if we can find another way around. We will have to assume we have been compromised and we have been discovered!" They all broke in to a sprint in the other direction. After turning a few corners they were knocked from there feet by the explosion. They didnt say a word but Jag was thinking.

Oh shit! If we werent compromised before we are now! .

No sooner had Jag thought about that but an alarm rang and he could here running from the opposite end of the corridor. The squad turned a corridor anddedcided to hide in a room where they could hopefully hide and let Jag gather his thoughts. But the first thing he noticed when he walked in the room was a medium-sized armored speeder.

Well If this isnt going to be worth a few extra points the teacher might as well fail me now...

Jag brought out both grenades and managed to correctly set a one minute timer. Before activating it he told the squad to take up defensive positions outside and get ready to run. When the first squad member ran out he was covered with blaster fire immediately and the others took positions with the door covering them a small amount. When Jag set the timer with the magnet attached to the repulsor he shouted, "MOVE!" The team bolted down the corridor firing blind shots behind them, when three of them were shot down.

When they reached a corner Jag shouted, "Give me some cover fire!" The three remaining troopers each dropped down to one knee and fired continuously whilst Jag pulled out the remaining grenade set the timer for ten seconds- the troopers seeing this risen and ran with Jag down the corridor when one of the other troopers was shot down. When the exit was in sight they were thrown from there feet again by the grenade. After the blast they heard nothing but silence.

When they gotten out of the compound the simulation ended.

(OOC - I know you haven't gotten to the other one yet, but I figured you wouldn't mind if I posted this early )

Medic: Level One: Story Three: Combat Surgery

I hope this sim is not going to be too bad... Riqimo walked to the medical center with only his missives to keep him company. There is no way I am going to get over that wookiee...

As he flashed his medical id to the security droid at the employee entrance of the medical facility he thought I wonder what sick bastard designs these sims?  I probably don't want to know...

"Good to see you again Riqimo," a nurse called out from he work with a patient.

"Oh, hello Francoise, how's it going?" Riqimo responded.

"Nothing much just routine checkups, you want to do dinner at my apartment tonight?"

"Uh, sorry I need to get to a squad meeting tonight, sorry," Riqimo quickly came up with an excuse.  I wish she would just leave me alone... along with the other 8 nurses... shesh...

"Oh... maybe another time?"

"Maybe"

Riqimo walked quickly to Dr. Godot's office where he saluted and then sat down.

"You know, here in the medical facility we don't have much need for military salutes and what not.  Sometimes things get knocked over and people get hurt or worse, so I would appreciate it if you would let up on them.  Anyways, I like you to watch this little educational holo-film that should be a review of what you read last night.  Most get it after they at least see some of this stuff rather than reading about it.  Then we will run a sim on Combat Surgery, a personal favorite of mine," Dr. Godot smiled.

Oh, great... this is not going to be good...

"Oh yes," Dr. Godot said reaching into his briefcase, "here is a set of barf bags, most recruits tend to need these for the holo-film.  I'll be back when it is done in three and a half hours, enjoy!"

THREE AND A HALF!  And... barf bags?!? And to think I was worried about the sim...

----...Three and a half hours and a set of barf bags later...----

"Ah, good the holo-film is over, now you can get lunch and then meet me at the sim chamber in an hour," Dr. Godot said as he walked in the room.

"Quite truthfully, sir, I don't think I am hungry, especially after that part on Wookiee genital anatomy..."

"Very well, to the sim chamber then!" Dr. Godot responded...

Me and my big fat mouth...

------

"Okay, you will be in a combat zone, and will need to perform surgery on an injured trooper, a human this time," Dr. Godot explained.

Thank god... and suddenly Riqimo was in the middle of combat... Yikes Riqimo found himself pinned by sniper fire and his patient in a mortar crater 30 meters away.

One... Two... Three... RUN! Riqimo found himself sprinting to the crater while several blasters fired at him.  When he was 1 meter away he dived into the crater.  Left arm, left leg, right leg, right arm, head... I'm forgetting something... AH! my left foot!  Oh wait... it is in a hole...  Okay calm down...

Riqimo moved over to the trooper Ow... Damn... I sprained my ankle...

"You alright bud?  What happened?" Riqimo asked the trooper

"Snipe...er," the soldier rasped.

"Okay, uh, don't talk, try to keep breathing.  I'm gonna give you a sedative, just relax."

Okay great, went through the torso... a slug shot... oh, perfect... punctured his lung... Riqimo examined the wound, There is no exit wound

Riqimo quickly laid out his surgeon tools and tried to figure which ones would be best.

Riqimo began using his fingers to find the projectile, Ah here it is... almost went out the back.  Would be best to cut him back there and remove it from there rather than mess with the lung more than I have too...

With a careful incision after cleaning the area, Riqimo managed to remove the slug, and quickly put a bandage over the cut to prevent infection.

Now to clean out the front Riqimo reminded himself as he pulled out his disinfectant solution.

Oh, crap! Riqimo ducked as a sniper shot hit a rock near him and ricocheted in the crater.

Riqimo hurried as he cleaned out the entry point and bandaged it.  Taking off the trooper's helmet, he wrote on the forehead: "X"

"X" is for evacuate immediately, a wonderful little symbol system developed by an intelligent combat medic...

Suddenly the sim blacked out and Riqimo stumbled and sprained his other ankle.

"Wonderful job, Riqimo, I'll send you on to level two now, here is your second manual. I look forward to being entertained by your future..." Dr. Godot reflected on the proper word, "exploits."

"Thank you, sir," Riqimo said as he limped out of the room.

I don't think he will notice if I borrow this wheelchair over here if I bring it back tomorrow...

...

Riqimo rolled down the hall getting strange looks from the patients who saw him walk in perfectly fine...

Not as good as your last one, but it passed. I enjoy the bits of comedy in the stories. It is something a bit different from the normal. Just make sure the whole thing isn't comedy. That can be just as bad as no emotion at all. Also, it was better with the thoughts, but maybe instead of having them so fragmented with the dots, try merging them into sentences a bit better. I realize we don't always think that way, but it makes reading it a lot easier. Now, it did pass, but if you really want to impress me and maybe earn a bonus (I'm rich, it's bound to be good), give me more about the combat surgery. This is surgery. Maybe an amputation of some sort. Or sealing up an arm that was disembodied. I know its gruesome, but medicine on the battlefield normally is. Once again, this is just to impress me more and stand out better. You can continue if you wish.

Medic: Level Two: Story One: Emergency Medical Response

Riqimo sat on the transit bus to the medical facility.  I can't believe that Dr. Godot puts me through these stupid sims...

"Medical Wing A, all off for Medical Wing A," the transit driver blared over the intercom, "Next stop, Tadath's famous strip club, the Twi'Bare."  Riqimo got off the transit as a rowdy, drunk group of men gave a off loud cheer.

After checking in, Riqimo went to Dr. Godot's office, "Hello sir, reporting for my next training exercise."

"Ah, yes.  Let's see here, you are doing EMR, great.  I won't be helping you with this one.  Instead Dr. Freez will be your guide, I am sorry that I am not available," Dr. Godot told Riqimo.  That's a relief... "He is waiting in room 426, wing C, so off with you now."

...

"Dr. Freez?" asked Riqimo as he walked into a dim room.

"Ah yes, and you must be... Riffo?" Dr. Freez asked

"Riqimo, sir."

"Oh, yes.  Now listen carefully Ricomo, this lecture will detail everything you need to know..."

---...Two hours later...---

"Okay, Riddo, let's start our little sim," Dr. Freez prompted.

As soon as Riqimo placed his helmet on, Riqimo found himself in a field hospital.  There were many moans coming from every corner of the room, and Riqimo looked around, wondering what he was supposed to do with so many possible patients around.  Suddenly a radio crackled, "Field Hospital, Field Hospital are you there? This is HQ, we need you to deploy to cordinates 15 by 41.5 sector 3 immediately two troopers are down."

Riqimo rushed over to the radio, "Field Hospital confirms, we are on our way."

Rushing out of the quickly set up field hospital building, Riqimo knocked on the door of a hover van, "We got an emergency, here are the cordinates," he told the driver as he climbed in.

"Roger that, hang on tight."

Riqimo was not prepared for the sudden speed of the driver, and was almost thrown out of his seat.  Arriving at the point, Riqimo saw that the enemy was forced to retreat by the rest of the squad and he had an easy, clear path to the down troopers.  With the help of some nearby stormtroopers, Riqimo got the two soldiers on the hover van and got in the back with them.  Knocking on the wall, he said, "All set they are strapped in, let's go."

Forgeting the sudden speed, Riqimo found himself sprawled on the floor.  Quickly getting back on his feet, he examined his patients, the first one was perfectly fine, just a few nasty burns, then looking at the other, Riqimo quickly began to work.

The first thing Riqimo did was use a strip of cloth to cut off the blood flow to the right leg, where a nasty gash made by a  vibro-blade was.  After the blood flow was slowed to the leg, Riqimo began checking the pulse of the trooper.  It was there but very faint.  Because the trooper's heart was still beating, even slightly, Riqimo could not perform CPR or ECC (External Cardiac Compression).  Deciding there wasn't much he could do, Riqimo set up an IV and gave some medications.

Riqimo could feel the hover van slowing and grabed for a handle to brace himself, however the van stopped before he could reach it and he went flying to the front of the van, hitting the metal divider between the cockpit and the back of the van with a loud thud.  Shaking his head as he got up, Riqimo threw open the back doors and left the two troopers to the other medics.

Walking back into the field hospital, Riqimo heard a voice cry out, "We've got a stopper!"

Riqimo rushed to the source to find a field nurse with an unconscious female trooper.  Well, at least I can't complain this time, heh

"Okay, there is no pulse, we're gonna have to perform ECC," Riqimo stated as he examined the body.

Riqimo placed both his hands palms down with his fingers interlaced over her heart.  He pushed the injured trooper's breastbone towards her spine, and then lifted his hands to allow the chest to recoil.  Riqimo repeated this five times and then checked for a pulse.  Okay no pulse, five more then

Riqimo continued to do sets of five, stopping after every three sets to perform EAR.  Come on, come on, let's go...  Finally Riqimo detected a faint heartbeat on her neck. Yes!  Riqimo quickly began performing only EAR on the trooper until she came to.

After about two minutes the trooper woke up in the middle of an EAR process and punched Riqimo.  "OWW!" Riqimo screamed as he felt one of his teeth get jarred loose, "What is your problem?!?"  Just about as Riqimo was about to grab his patient, the sim blacked out.

"Ahh, yes very good, Roqomo... I'll alert Godot that you have passed, I hope we get the opportunity to work with each other again," Dr. Freez stated with a smile.

Riqimo spat his tooth into his hand and left down the hall for the dental wing.  Wonder if they won't charge me if I explain how this happened?  If not, there is no way my insurance will cover this.

You passed, but with a figurative low grade. We talked a little already, but I'll just remind you. Check your grammar a bit more carefully. You like to do run-on sentences. Also, less jokes next time. Try to make them a bit more serious. Last, make it a bit longer in the future. Even if its just a little character development. Specialties are a nice place to do some extra development. Just try to tie it in somehow with the story if you do that.

Combat Engineer/Level 1/ Story 1/ Basic electronics/wiring.-

RK Jerked awake, his mind spinning from last night's occasions. He had no clue where he had been. He didn't drink so he must have been knocked out, or had a lot of sugar intake.

He looked over at his alarm, it read 9:00 A.m. Dang it, I am late for my Specialty training, man, Garet's going to kill me id I don't get that finished. RK jolted out of bed, his mind still spinning, he had to keep his balance off of the dresser he had setting behind his bed. Gah, I really got to stop hanging out with my friends... it's driving me nuts.

He quickly put on some clothes and through a vest on over his half- torn shirt. "I really need to get a new wardrobe." He said allowed as he picked up his Datapad and made his way to the door.

-Combat Engineer Training Facility.-

He opened the door reluctantly, this was new to him, but it couldn't be any different from his Army training. "Well here goes nothing." He finally opened it. The smells of smoke and the after fire of blasters could be prominnet, other smells were intertwined, but he couldn't make them out. The place was empty except for a few people running past the desk.

Maybe nobody's home.... He hoped to god nobody was home... this was the last thing he wanted to do on his day off.  Alright, go up to the desk, confirm nobody is here, then your free. But it wasn't that simple.

Heading towards the desk was worse than facing Garet when he messed up in training, Riqimo on the other hand.. atleast he backed him up tried to encourage him. I guess he got over the whole bounty hunter thing... ah well.

He pulled out his Datapad from his pocket and set in on the desk, nobody was around... ah well. He picked up his datapad as fast as he could, all he wanted to do was rest.

"Excuse me? Are you looking for me?" A voice asked from behind him, it sounded faint, but was lud enough to startle a jawa.

Drat. RK turned, he looked at the person in front of him. She was tall, for a woman. She had blonde hair, with darker streaks through it. Her face looked as if someone had carved it out of stone... probably from all the stubborn trooper she had come in everyday, that wouldn't coaperate.  Yet it still had a feminine beauty about it. "As a matter of fact, I was just aobut to leave, but since you asked so nicley, I was."  He headed back to the desk. That's a couple steps I'm not going to get back in my life.

He handed her his Datapad. She looked at it a while then finally realized what she wanted him to do with it. Maye it wasn't the troopers, maybe it was her. She did only look out of her twenties.
"Alright I need to know a few things before I take you back to where you need to go.First, what is you Number?"

RK was stumped, his number? He was always called by his callsign, the only time a number was used was when he had to face the big guys, the head of the whole operation. "My number Eh? ES-24601."
He paused as she hit the numbers in the keyboard. "Why do you need that?"

She looked up at him like he was dumbfounded, then tilted her head slightly to the right, and spoke. "Because, the Vast Empire has your files set by your number, not you callsign. And since I am connected to the database I can bring up everything else I need to know. Of course... I need to know one other thing." She paused, looking at the screen as his records popped up. "Alright, last thing... What's your callsign."

RK finally understood... atleast why she looked like she had been carved out of stone. "RK, Friends call me Kenobi." RK hated to say that name, he wasn't related to the Jedi, not even a little bit. But he hated the name.

"Alright, come with me." she handed back his Datapad and escorted him towards the training facility.

-Sergeant Jan Kitar's office/ Comabat engineer Training Facility.-

The door swung open, a man sat at his desk, rustling through a pile of papers. "Come in." The voice sounded old, but it was full of life, which startled RK a little.

"Sir, your new student is here." The girl that had just escorted him through the winding tunnels seemed nervous, was it something about the guy, or did she have somewhere to be?" She headed over to the desk while RK just stood there waiting for his cue to come in. She placed the folder she had just had on his desk and then left. Rk still stood in the doorway.

"Come in, I don't bite. Hard atleast." he grinned. His face was starting to rinkle and his gray hair made him look ancient. He was looking at Rk's folder when RK took a seat. "So Eclipse squad eh? Garet treating you well I would hope."  he paused to look up at his new trainee.

"Yea I guess so." Rk replied, it wasn't much of a greeting but he relaly didn't want to be here.

"Well, that's good." He was old, RK didn't know how an old person like him still worked here, specially with so many people joining the Vast Empire lately.  "My name is Jan Kitar , I will be your instructor these next few days. I may look old, but I got more spunk than one of those new recruits will ever have.so what do you say we get started Kenobi."

Rk could have killed the man for saying his last name, but he had to admit, this could be an interesting endeavor.

-Combat engineer Training Grounds-

RK looked around, it was amazing to see what he could. Machines, grenade launchers, sniper rifles, and a whole weapons array. Jan kept on leading him toards a door just beyond the grenades, some how he knew RK was impressed.

"You get to use those later, right now we start with the basics." He opened the door they had been walking towards for hours, at least what felt like hours. RK's Jaw dropped when they got inside. Electrical wiring surronded them. Red wires, bluew wires. Every colored wire was withing his reach.

"So what are we here for? How to electricute?" RK had made a bad joke, but it was worth the attempt.

Jan walked over to a panel above the wall... he hit a few keys before allt he wiring dissappeared. "You must not be good with the occasional illusion."
Rk was confused, why they would do that was beyond him... but he knew one thing it wasn't funny.

Jan pointed to a console just within a foot step of RK. "Alright, I am going to dsslodge some wires... now here's the thing. I am not going to tell you which wire goes with which. If you get it wrong we will all be goners. If you get it right, I will teach you."

Was this a test? Or was it just some crazy old guy playing trick on him. "Uhhhhhh....... I don't have any experience, so this whole place might go up in a ball of smoke."

"Don't worry, you'll do fine." Jan headed over to the console, he cut a couple of them then he pulled a couple more from where they were. "Now, get to work. If this place is going up in flames it might as well be now."

Rk didn't know why he would do this to any novice.... considering the whole training facility was endangered. "Alright."

Jan Stepped back and let RK go to work The console in front of him was more or less just a steel box that was made to be a bomb and the one side was cut off to reveal the circutry.. He hoped to God his past would have something to do with this.

He looked at the wires the Jan had disslodged. Sadly, he hadn't payed any attention to even guess where he pulled them from. Then he noticed, there was a timer. I thought this was for the second part of training not the first. Panic set in his heart.

He tried connecting the wires first. He  looked at the wires, hoping he could figure it out. Then he saw one that was diagonal from the one he was holding. Not even the old man could hide that. He connected them together, and then a loud boooom could be heard.

RK sheilded his face with his arm, he knew what was coming and waited for it but it never came, not even a little. UHHHHH!!! RK was in shock, what had just happened, was he just tested like a novice?

"Hmmmm... Your going to need to learn a lot, if you ever want to be a Combat engineer.Luckily, that was fake, but in a real emregency you wouln't of had time to hesitate you would have had to think fast act fast, and worry more on making a mistake then your safety." He paused an looked at him. "Now let's show you what to Really do." Jan made his way to the position RK was sitting at he unattached the wires so that they would be able to be connected correctly.

"Now watch. First of all, not all bombs are the same, your going to have to learn how to connect wires for every bomb. Considering this is fake, let's just start with basic wiring and electronics, and less on real life bombs." Jan pointed to some wiring RK had missed, of course t wasn't dissconnected. But it atleast gave him a hint. "See that, since this bomb is wired the same, as other wiring you could have checked to see if there was other wiring like this one." He paused and picked two same colored wires. "Now, very few times are you going to see differently coridinated bombs like this one, so just be careful when dissarming one. This is probably the best way of making somone learn how to wire. Seeing as it's life and death."

RK watched as the man took mere second to attach the wires again. He was appalled by the man's speed, even under simulated conditions. "Now I have some sircutry that need re wiring. Since it is electronics I could see if you learned everything I have taught you so far." Jan headed towards an electronic device, it was bleeping red, and had a small attanea that looked like it was made for communications. "Alright, I have already put a problem in this device. You have to find the two problem and fix them. If you don't find either one, we can't continue."

RK looked at the device, then at Jan. "Isn't this a little over my level?" Jan looked at him, arms folded.

"No, not with the problem I set up. The next time they will be more difficult." Jan pointed him at the device, as if to let him know to get a move on.

RK kneeled beside the device, he looked it over. Trying to find a way in. Finally he found a panel that he could open to gain access to the wires and electronics inside. The first problem was obvious, he had cut some of the wires so that it couldn't work or convert power. So He tried to connect the wires, he already knew which to connect it to. The clues where there was only four colors of wire in the section that was cut. He connected the Wires back together carefully with some plaxtic electric cappings that Jan had gave him at the start. The wires were difficult, but he soon got through. The next part wasn't obvious. He looked forever to find it, but he found it. The device had some wires lose that connected to the boards that told the device what to do."Hey Jan, how do I know what wires to connect to the boards?

Jan looked at him, he was impressed yet not at the same time. "I din't leave a clue, so figure it out, also, just to let oyu know when fixing electronics, make sure you look at the boards carefully to make sure you get the right voltage of wire."

Jan had just given him a hint, he put his head on it and looke for a wire, it was dangling just above his forehead. He connected it to the board that had a warning on it about certain wire voltage. Then he did the same with the rest of the Wires. It took him longer than Jan cold do, but atleast it was done.

"Alright, let's see if this thing works." RK punched the button to activate it, nothing, he tired again, nothing. "What the....???"

"You missed something. I told you therre were two problems, but you should check to make sure that I wasn't lieing, common mistake in the battlefield of thinking you got everything done." Jan Nodded toward RK, he was testing him. Again.

RK heade back into the device, it was big for a communications device, and could fit to people, but he was the one in training. He looke around to see if he could determine the source of it. Jan hadn't taught much about electronics, or wiring, he was a man of few words. But got his point across with everyone.
"I though Electronics wasn't till next training?"

Jan looked at him.. though RK couldn't see it Jan had already figured out what he was going to do for the next level. Although, RK would have to go through a lot of training with wiring first. "Oh, it's the next objective, this is just the basics. It get's more complicated. The ddevice your working on is wired basicly. It can only probably get a short range.

RK kept looking soon he found the source, two wires were dissconnected, but instead of being two wires, it split into two section on one. "Hey Jan, do two wres connect to this spilt one?"

"Yea, two of them do. But they both need ot go on their respective side." Jan stood back waiting to see if the device would come to life.

RK paniced he needed to connect two wires.. to one. Great, just what I need, I don't even know....wait. Voltage, clues... Rk looked around, he saw another one just like the one he was working on, it had a blue on the right and red one on the left. I hope this is right. he pulled the blue wire to the green one that was split. He attached it to the right with his Electric capping. And did the same with the red on only he put the red one on the right. "Alright, I hope this works."

He crawled our of the vent and hit the button. The communications console came to life, and then it died, but came back second later. He had done it, without lecture or talking, but by doing. Maybe this old coot knows what he's doing.

"Impressive, most impressive." Jan clapped as he non chalantly made his way towards RK. "Now, let's see how you do with electronics that are more complicated. Follow me."

RK let Jan lead the way. maybe this wasn't a bad Idea afterall.

(o.c.c I finally got around to doing it, so here it is.)

You pass. It is a nice specialty story. It got to and mentioned I really cared to see. My main concern is the grammar and spelling. There are a lot of mistakes. Even though this is a longer post for you, make sure to go over the whole thing once maybe even twice of mistakes. You'll readily see them if you read through it closely. You can continue onto the next story.

Combat engineer/ Level 1/ Story 2/ Electircal systems.

Jan lead the way to the next raining facility. RK could hear screams and such as simulators were being run, and real life instances were being looked over again and again, to ensure that nothing would go wrong in a Real life incident.

"So, what's the difference between this Training and the last?" RK asked as Jan stopped to make sure he was in the right place.

"This one will teach you how to make bombs out of equipment and how to attach more bombs to each other." Jan said as he opened the door into the next room.

"Alright, I still don't get it but,w ahtever." RK took a seat on the floor as Jan punched a few buttons on a control pannel just across from him. Whatever Jan was up to had to be big.

"Now, this will be my last training excersise with you." Jan said as he pulled out a device aoubt half  the size of the Communications device that RK had fixed; and a pouch.  "Alright, listen carfully, I want  to see if you can figure this out by yourself, of course I don't think you can, but you have surprised me RK, or Kenobi, whichever you prefer."

RK thought this was the perfect time for a somewhat joke. "Neither, could you call me Scorch." RK grinned as he got up for further orders.

"I would, but there is already someone famous in the archives by that name. Stop worrying about what your called and start writing your chapter in history." Jan said as he set the device down on the table that was sitting almost perfectly in the middle of the room. "Because you have your own history yo worry aobut, 'Scorch' already wrote his."

Mir'sheb was all that came to RK's mind when he finally was standing over the Table. he got me with that wisdom of his. But Jan was right. Garet had told him millions of times when they had been talking to each other and RK had mentioned he should change his callsign, sinc eall it relaly was was his initials, But Garet would always say, ' You should be happy with RK.' That ussually shut him up for a while.

"So what do oyu want me to do?" He asked resting his elbow on the table and picking up the thermal tape that laid rght in front of him.

"Well first off, let's see if oyu can make a bomb out of this Device... as in make it go boom." Jan said as he pushed the Device Rk's way.

"I think you lost it Jan, only bombs can be made into bigger bombs, not devices made for other things."  RK said hoping he wouldn't have to do this.

"Wow, you catch on fast." He siad grinning and taking the device back. "But not fast enough, because if you re wire the device, connecting it to a bomb." He paused to take the tape away from RK "Then it will be a bomb, but this only works for time bombs. So be cautious when connecting a thermal detonator to device."

"okay." RK siad not as enthusiastic as he should have been.

"The're exceptions as when you can make a normal device a bomb without connecting it to one. And that is if you can re wire the system to connect into a port to over ride the mechanisms power, making it  over heat, and blow up, depenind on how much power is going into it. And how much power it can hold with out going over." He finished connecting the device to the bomb and set it on the floor. He gave it a nice push with his foot and then he stared. RK hoped that wouldn't have to much explosion, or they would both be toast.

Click Was all RK heard then Jan looked over him and Grinned. "Can never be to sure if it's going to blow up or it's just going to deactivate." RK knew Jan had deactivated it, but it was more of a test to see if RK would react. All he did was stared.

"Now your turn. Only this time I want you to hook up two bombs to this device. Don't activate it!  I want to see if you did it right." Jan pointed at the door. "We are going to test it on the main training Facility.

"I just have to ask. Isn't exposives later on?" Rk asked as he picked up the thermal tape and the equipment he needed for the project.

"Yes, but this is mostly basic, besides if you can learn how to connect devices together and make them work as one then it's easier to learn wiring, and electrical systems." Jan said then opened his mouth again. "And you ask to many questions, just listen to what you are told."

Di'kut, I know that, but one thing I don't know is why aren't you going in order. You answrs never make sense, but atleast it's sorta helping me to get a step ahead.  RK started to work on the device then of course another question popped in his mind. "When am I going to work on electrical systems?"

"When you stop asking questions and start doing. Besides, after we see if that works I have a problem with my one Datapad, I thought that would tezsch you how an electrical system worked. Specially since if you destroy It I am going to have your head."

RK smiled and started working diligently. He removed the back of the device off to reveal the wires, then he did the same with the timed detonator, making sure he wouldn't accidently activate it. Then, he looked to see if he could find any wires that would connect the device to the bomb so that the bomb would over ride the Devices mechanism.

"Just to let you know, I want you to make the bomb so that when it is activated the timeing starts. So figure out which wires send that info. " Jan said as he stood arms folded against the walls. His eyes were closed, but RK knew that if he sensed anything wrong he would snap out of that position. What worried him most is he definetly wasn't a Jedi, so how did he know if anything went wrong?

RK looked close, he was back to square one, he had to find how to activate the bombs with the button. So all he had to to was transfer the wire that sent the information from the key pad to the device, to the button that activated the device together and then it was a matter of onnecting the rest of the wires. And replacing the back sides and connecting them with thermal tape.

He got to work right away. First he was as carful as he could be to dissconnect the wires in the bomb that were keep ing them attached to the outer shell. It tooks some time, carefully he cut wire after wire, making sure he didn't cut anything that would accidently make the bomb go off. Then once he had that done he removed the inner workings from the outside of shell. Once he had that done he carefully plcaed the inner workings on the table and then he got to work on the device. Now the device was easier, all he had to do was connect the inner workings to the devices inner workings and then attach the correct wire to the device activation button.

First he started with the Wires. He connected the red wires to the blue wires so that the information would over ride the original commands. Then he attached the bombs 'mother board' ( it was more or less what told the bomb to explode, but had the necessary mean to make sure it did so, in other words it was programmed and it had the explosives part to it.) to the devices mother board. Once all the wires to connect the mother board was done, it was just a matter of attaching the last wires. Which happened to be green and yellow. He attached the bombs green wires to the yellow wires and attached them tight with a wire cap. Then the button the hard part. Luckily, he took the side that had the button on it off. Praise good thinking. He checked to make sure the device was off, just incase so he didn't blow the whole facility. He put the covering back on the Device... Even with the extra wiring it still fit. But the bomb was small.

"That was easy." Rk commented as Jan snapped back to reality.

"Alright, let's see if you fixed this right. The only thing is I need to ask you how do you set the timer?" Jan asked as he picke dup the device.

"Oh, it's already set, and once you hit that button it's going to start. Then you have about ten seconds to get ride of it or your dead meat." RK said as he took it back.

_-_-_-_--

Jan lead RK to a big facility, it was pretty big compared to the rooms he worked in recently, sadly however he was going to miss those small rooms, only because he didn't have to worry about dropping and losing something way to easily.

"Alright, let's see how this baby works."  Jan said as he gave RK the motiion to try it out. "Go ahead don't be shy."

RK stood up the railing, it was meant to keep people from running out into the training field just incase someone threw a grenade without looking. To RK it didn't matter, all that mattered was that this device worked, so he could finish his training.

He activated the device, he could here a feignt click, which eithe rmeant the device armed itself or it was a dud. Then without thinking he threw it., he almost forgot, and he dind't think eclipse needed a dead trooper.

Boooom RK shielded his eyes against the big bright ball of fire. It had worked, but it knocked RK down. It didn't even land and it worked.

"Good job, now before you decide to celebrate because you passed, I would like you to work on my datapad." Jan said as he turned around and started walking back up the stairs. "And there is one more thing you need to know before I let you on to the next training."

-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

Jan's office was cluttered with paper, he was neater before, but now it looked like a rancor had run through it. Papers were piled on the desk. Equipment cluttered the floor. RK guessed someone else had been in here, trying to find something to use for their recruit, or Jan had slipped away when RK wasn't looking. The latter made no sense cause Jan and RK had been in the same place at the same time the whole day.

"Fierfek, the secretary was in here again, I am going to have to talk to her about going through my stuff." He sighed and then headed over to his Desk. He picked a data pad up out of it and threw it at RK. "Alright, before you start working on that Device, There is one thing you need to know."

"That would be?" RK asked as he looked the Device up and down.

"That device is old. But that's not what I want to tell you. What I want to tell you is the 'mother board' in there is crucial, it has different components on it, that may be damaged, starting to shut down and/or have been broken of entirely."  Jan paused to take a breath, that was the longest speech he had said since RK had met him. "So you have to replace them with anything you have, in other words, you have to replace them with something that is going to do the same job it performs."

"Okay, so all I got to do is fix some wires, fix the 'mother board' and I am done?" RK asked, Jan knew he wanted to move on faster than he had wanted to come here.

"Yes, but I am giving you a few things that will work for what you are doing." Jan pulled a bag out of his desk, with little back wires and cylinders, they were about the size of RK's pinky nail. "These are what I have, your going to have to guess what goes were like when I first started your training, there are clues, but this sis something that you have to guess, unless by chance you already know."

"What about thw ones that are hsutting down?" RK asked as he sat down and started removing the back off of the Datapad. "How can I tell those?"

"I color coated them blue. Of course there are a few that aren't colored. Eventually you will be able to spot them from experience, but you can probably tell from the color coated ones." Jan handed the bag to RK so he could get started. "Now, get started. Just don't make a bomb, I know it's tempting."

RK grinned and started to get to work. He had already removed the back of the pad, but that was the easy part. He used a tweaser a pair of pliers and a screwdriver, to remove the mother board. He carfully removed the screws. Next, he took the tweasers and pliers to remover the mother board, working with complete synchronization to what he was doing he carefully pryed a wire lose and then lifted the edge of the mother board out so that he could get it out with his fingers. "Wow, I never knew it was so complicated looking." It was thin, but the programming that went into it had to be compicated. He was glad all he had to do was learn electronics.

He opened the bag and started working. He removed the color coated things first and replaced them with some makeshift parts from the bag. First he thought it was to easy, but he didn't know what he was about to do. He picked out a square plastic like box and slid it over a network of wires that was sticking up out of the board. Then he looked at it closely. There was two parts missing, the almost wire looking lines showed that what was once there was connected to a cylinder like part, so he could figure that the part that went there had to have the same voltage and had to do the same thing. He picked a cylinder out of the bag and carefully placed it on the board using a hot metal thing, that he couldn't remember the name of, to melt the wires on the other side to keep in place. He did the same thing with the other missing part. Then he replaced the parts that wree shutting down.
He replaced the parts back in, securing the mother board back in place and replacing the back cover, then he handed it to Jan to see if it worked.

He turned it on, RK couldn't see whether or not it worked, but he knew Jan would tell him.

"Here, you missed something it won't turn on." Jan said trying to force back a smile.

"Ah man." RK said sarcastically as he started to see the smile take over Jan's face.

"It works." Jan said then replaced it back in the desk. "Well, it was nice to mentor you, I wish I knew more about the next few things, but I am the electronics speicalist around here so I probably won't see you again, until you finally complete your training."

"Thanks for teaching me a valuable lesson, well more than one." RK siad. He reached his hand over the desk and shook Jan's hand. Not only had he met a new person and mentor, but he had made a new friend. That's something that not even a training simulator could offer.

"Your next trainer should be coming shortly, you will need to go back to the waiting lobby." Jan said as RK let go of his hand nad did a 180 towards the door. "And RK if you ever need anymore training, I will be right here."

RK grinned without showing it to Jan. "I will keep that in mind, Boss." With that he headed out the doors.

Nice job RK. This was much improved from the last and was quite interesting to read. I told you what you need to look for in your next specialty on IRC. Good work.

Combat Engineer/Level 1/ Story 1/ Basic electronics/wiring.-

Wicket awoke from a deep sleep when he heard the sound of an alarm. "What the...!" Wicket shouted. He fell out of his bed and hit the floor with a thud. Wicket let out a sigh. "Oh, it's only the alarm. Today is a big day. I start my training." What should I wear? He goes over to his closet and picks out something casual. This should be fine. As soon as Wicket was ready he scurried out the door. Oh great my datapad! Wicket had forgot his datapad on his bed. He ran back to get it. Wicket was not usually late, so he was in major panic. He retrieved his datapad and took a second to think if he had forgot anything else. Ok, I think this is it. Wicket, again, headed to the training facility.

------Combat Engineer Training Facility------

Wicket arrived at the training facility right on time. He took out his datapad to make sure he was at the correct place. He saw a front desk, or what looked like the front desk at least, and headed towards it. A very slender man was sitting at the desk working on a computer and at the same time reading some sort of magazine. "Excuse me, are you busy at the moment?" Wicket asked.

"Does it look like I'm busy?" The man replied

"Ummm, no not really." Wicket responded quite annoyed by the man's rudeness.

"Well then, what do you need?" The man asked.

Wicket responded, "I'm here for a training course to become a Combat Engineer. So I was wondering where I needed to go."

"Hmmm, well I'm not quite sure, but i think it's the door on the left." The man mumbled, but still comprehensible.

"Ok. Thank you." Wicket said. Wicket then headed off in the wrong direction to the right. About half way to the wrong door, Wicket had realized he went the wrong way. He turned around and went to the correct door. The man had a grin on his face as Wicket walked by. That's embarrassing.

Wicket entered the room. The room was rather large with a big screen in the front. There was about one hundred chairs in the room, even though there was only 5 people in the room. There were three humans, one twi'lek, and an alien that Wicket had no idea what it was. Wicket took a seat between the twi'lek and one of the humans. A couple minutes passed with a small conversation between the students, when a woman entered through the door. She was tall and slim. She had light brown hair and piercing blue eyes. She proceeded to the front of the room to a podium that was in the front. "Ok, my name is Shelby, and I will be your trainer. As you all know, this is the course to come a Combat Engineer. If you are not here for that, you are in the wrong place, please leave and go to the correct facility." Shelby said. The unknown species got up and exited. That left a total of five people.

"Ok, so I guess all of you are here to become a Combat Engineer?" Shelby asked. Everyone nodded. "Well then, lets get started. Let me start all over. As I said earlier my name is Shelby and I will be your trainer."

One of the humans raised his hand. "What exactly is a Combat Engineer?"

"That's a good question." replied Shelby. "Combat Engineers are demolitionists basically. They do many tasks that require using wires, bombs, and what not." Shelby paused to see if there was going to be anymore questions. None. "Ok so todays lesson is about basic electronics and wiring. So what you five will be doing is an obstacle course in a way. There are five doors to the left." She pointed to the doors. "Those are temporarily broken. I say temporarily broken because you all will hopefully be fixing them."

"How are we supposed to fix them." Wicket asked.

"Another good question." she replied. "It's not that hard really. You see, the thing is, is that the wires have been cut, so therefore the doors are not operating correctly. All you have to do is connect the wires together, which is also simple. The wires are color coated. Connect the same color wires together and there you go. Then when you get through the door there will be a comlink sitting on the table. Go up to it and contact me to let me know that you are done. Then we will continue, but I will explain the next step later. Any other questions?"

"Is this a race?" Wicket asked.

"Ummm. yes and no. I want you do your best, but at the same time I will be timing you. So at the end you can see how fast you completed the course." she said. Wicket raised his hand. "No, you do not get a prize if you win...actually never mind. If you win you will get a lunch provided by me, and of course, my congratulations. So if there are no more questions, lets get started. There is a pouch with a bunch of electrical items in them. Some items you will use, others you will not. You will need these pouches to complete this course. Here are the pouches right here." She pointed to the table next to her. "So if you can all please come up and get your proper pouch." The students proceeded to the table to get the pouch. They all had each students name on them. "Inside this pouch are some wire connectors and some other items. Ok, now that we all have our poaches, please proceed to the line in front of the door." Each person went to a line. Wicket had choose the middle door, probably because it had the less smoke, so he thought it would be the easiest to fix. "Ok, when the light turns to green, that is the signal to start. Don't forget to message me when on the comlink when you get done."

After a long moment of waiting, the light finally turned green. The students ran up to the door and began to work. Wicket ran to the door and began to observe his surroundings. He saw seven loose wires. Ok so seven wires is not right...that means there will be one extra wire left when I'm done. Oh well. Ok so I need to connect the wires to the proper color. There were two blue wires, two green wires, and three white wires. Ok so the white wires might give me a problem. I guess I'll just have to connect the white wires until it works.

Wicket opened his pouch and examined the items inside. There were wire connectors, pliers, a wire cutter, some rubber gloves, some tape, and some metal pieces. Wicket put on the rubber gloves. Safety first. I obviously don't need the pliers or the wire cutters. Wicket took the wire connectors and the tape. He then took the two blue wires and connected them with a connector. Then he wrapped tape around the connector. I Better do this just in case. I don't want the connector falling off. He then used the connectors to connect the green wires together. Again he wrapped the tape around the connector. Now for the white wires. He took two white wires on connected them. Nothing happened.

At this point two people had made it through to the other side. Wicket heard a comlink behind him. He looked back and saw Shelby push a button on the computer. That button probably stops the time. Someone must have finished already. Ok now time to concentrate. Wicket gets the next white wire and connects it to the second white wire with a connector. The door opened. Wicket continued to tape up the connector just so the door would.nt shut him in if the wire connector were to fall off. He gathered up the items and placed them back into the pouch and ran into the next room. He found the comlink and messaged Shelby. "I'm done." Wicket said with a sigh of relief.

"Congratulations. You completed your first step. Oh yeah, also, using the comlink was part of your test." Shelby replied. She pushed a button on her computer to stop Wicket's time. Wicket relaxed on the table for a minute then went back to the training room.

Wicket had finished third out of the five students. Shelby started to read out the times of each student. Wicket did not pay any attention to the times, except for his own and the fastest. "Zwailen, you finished first with a time of 32:51.06 minutes. Congratulations." Everyone applauded as the twi'lek stood. "Wicket, you finished third with a time of 51:32.32 minutes. Nice job." Again everyone applauded as Wicket stood. "Ok, you all did a great job. Now for the next obstacle...."

Nice job. It was rather well done and got to the point. My only complaint is that it didn't feel ended. I'm assuming you are going to carry this on into the second story of electronics. If not, make sure to finish these stories on a more natural note.

Combat engineer/ Level 1/ Story 2/ Electircal systems.

"Wait, I lied." Selby said. "There won't be an obstacle for this lesson. Ugh, I forgot this is a lecture lesson. So I will teach you about electrical systems and how they apply to the battle field. After I get finished teaching, you will have two hours to study for an exam, which will consist of a written portion and an obstacle course. Now, I just have to warn you that I don't know very much on electricity. So I will try my best to teach you whatever I know. Oh yes, I must also warn you that if you fail either part of the test, I am going to kick you out of this class! Why you ask? Well first because you are too stupid to be here, and second I don't want to waste my time teaching people who don't learn anything." Shelby explained as she gathered up her notes and papers, readying herself to teach the students. "Are there any questions?" Wicket raised his hand. "Yes Wicket?"

"Um what exactly will we be learning about?" Wicket asked.

"I already explained that I will be teaching you on electrical systems!" Shelby snapped angrily. "Oh sorry. You mean specifics. I have an anger problem that I need to deal with. Anyway the basics of this lesson will include enemy computer systems, weapons, electrical shorts, etc... Does that answer your question?" Shelby replied.

"Yes it does. Thank you." Wicket said, mocking her sarcastically.

"Ok, well then, if there are no more questions, lets get started. First we will talk about enemy computers. Now, computers are my least knowledgeable subject. So basically you can hack into the enemy computers and take all of their information, and use it to sabotage any of the plans that they might have. Does anyone know how to do this?" Shelby looked around the room to see if anyone would raise their hand. Zwailen raised his hand. "Yes Zwailen?"

"Ok well, first you would need a password to access the enemy's computer. To do that you would need to take you datapad and some wires from the computer and connect the two by rewiring them together. But before you do that, you need to make sure that there is no security system or make sure it is disabled. So, to do that you would need to locate the security chip and take it out. Once you have done that you can begin to rewire. When you are done rewiring, you are now able to get the information and copy it onto a disk." Zwailen explained. The whole room, including Shelby, stared at him in awe.

"How do you know all of this?" Selby asked, still in amazement. "I didn't even teach you any of this stuff. Hell I didn't even know it, that's why I asked if any of you knew it.

"Oh, I was already in this class. I took a hiatus and the Training Commander said I had to begin my training all over." Zwailen replied. Well I know he's not going to fail this test. Wicket thought, still trying to process all the information that was said. Shelby continued on with the lecture.

"Ok, well since smart ass over there gave the first part of the lecture, lets move onto the next topic, which happens to be weapons. I do know stuff about weapons, so I'll teach this one. Weapons are one of the main necessities on the battlefield. They are pretty much useless if they don't work. So it's pretty useful if you know how to fix a weapon. Does anyone know how to do this?" Shelby looked at Zwailen, anticipating a raised hand, but nothing. "Nobody...ok then. I'll explain. This is something I actually know a few things about. Ok so, there are a few things you need to look for in order to fix a gun. The first thing you need to look for is, is the gas chamber intact. If not, you need to fix it. Next, you need to see if the power cell is in good condition. If not, then the weapon won't fire. Another thing you need to take a look at the combustion chamber. Then, you guessed it, you need to fix it." Shelby explained in great detail. She then continued on explaining more parts of the blaster that needed to be checked. When she was done she, she began explaining how to fix each part of the weapon.

Wicket was taking down notes as she gave information. He began to look around the room. He noticed Zwailen paying his undivided attention. He noticed one student taking notes and another dozing off. He then noticed the last student sleeping, which happened to be the one that finished the obstacle course, from the previous lesson, last. It doesn't look like he's going to pass this exam at the end of the lecture. Wicket thought, giving a chuckle.

"Ok now, the final thing I will teach you about today will be electrical shorts. An electrical short is a defect in the wiring of a system that doesn't allow the proper flow of electricity. Shorts can be bad because, first off, the short would prevent the system from working. Second off, it could cause an electrical fire, which wouldn't be good. And third off, it could possibly trigger the system to blow up in your face, and quite possibly kill you. Which also wouldn't be good. Now some of you might be asking yourself 'How can I find a short in a system?' Well it's simple really. All you need to do is find the temperatures of the wires. If a wire is unusually hot, then it is most likely to have a short." Shelby continued in greater detail about shorted equipment. Wicket continued to take down notes as others continued to do what they were doing, which included sleeping.

"Now that ends my lesson. You will have two hours to study about what you have learned today, and after that you will have an obstacle to complete. Again if you fail either the exam or the obstacle, I will kick you out of this training." Shelby ended the lesson. All the students headed out the door, with the exception of the sleeper. Shelby looked at the sleeping student, shook her head, and walked out the door.

------Library------

Ok, so what do I need to know about. I need to know about wiring and electrical systems. I might as well start with wiring. So when wires are color coded all you need to do is connect the broken wires with the correct color. That's simple. Ok, now to fix a gun, I need to look for the things she talked about which were the... Wicket looked at his notes. Oh here it is. I need to look at the gas chamber, power cell, and combustion chamber. As long as I know those, I should be fine. Ok what else is on the test? Wicket continued to think to himself. Oh yes, shorts in systems. Wicket read his notes. A short is when the electricity doesn't travel properly. Ok that's pretty easy as well. Oh ya, I also need to know about enemy computers. Crap, I don;t really know anything about that. Oh well, I'll just have to bs the answer. Wicket continued to study until it was time to go. Wicket looked at the clock. He had ten minutes to get back to class. Time to go.

------Training Facility------

When Wicket arrived at the facility, the sleeper was awake and everyone else was in their seats ready to take the test.

"Welcome back." Shelby said as she entered the room. "I want to explain how the obstacle course will work. There will be a malfunctioning door. You will need to fix the door and continue into the next room. In the next room there will be a table with three blasters on it. Your task in this room is to choose the blaster that works and shoot it at the target. When you successfully pick the gun and shoot the target, a slot in the wall will open. I must warn you that if you choose the wrong blaster, you fail, and in doing so, fail the test. Now in that slot that opened up will be a comlink. You need to message me using the comlink to let me know you have successfully completed the obstacle. Any question?" Shelby waited. "No...then lets begin."

Shelby passed out the test. Wicket noticed that there was only three questions. Alright, you can do this Wicket. First question. Wicket read the question to himself.'What do you do when a door is malfunctioning?' That's easy. All you do is connect the wires to each other. The wires are color coded, so connect the proper colors together and the door should work. Wicket wrote out the answer and the sheet. Next question. 'What is an advantage to hacking into the enemy's computer system?' Thank god! This is an easy question. By hacking into the computers, you can retrieve information that would be valuable to use in sabotaging any plans that the enemy may have had. Wicket wrote the answer on the sheet. Last question. 'What three main parts of a blaster do you need to check to make sure it is working properly?' Easy. The gas chamber, power cell, and the combustion chamber. Wicket finished writing his answer.

He headed to Shelby to give her his test. To Wicket's surprise, "The Sleeper" had finished the written part of the test before him. Wicket headed to his door. As he got to his door the other students handed in their tests as well. Wicket began to work on the door. He took out the wire connectors and the tape. He connected the blue wire to the blue, red to red, and white to white, using the wire connectors. After applying the connectors he finished them off with a coat of tape, just to be safe and make sure the connectors did not fall off. He pressed a button next to the door and the door opened.

He proceeded to the table with the blasters on them. Ok, lets take a look at each one. He picked up the first blaster and noticed that the gas chamber had a hole in it. Ok well it's not this one. Maybe it's the next one. Wicket picked up the second blaster. He noticed nothing wrong with it. This one looks good. Wicket raised the blaster and took aim at the target. Right as he was about to pull the trigger, he noticed that the power cell was completely drained. Thank God I didn't shoot. I don't want to fail and be kicked out this early. It has to be the last one then. Wicket picked up the last blaster and examined it closely. He noticed nothing wrong. This one is it. Wicket raised the blaster aiming it at the dead center of the target. He pulled the trigger. Like Shelby said, a slot in the wall opened up with a comlink in it. Wicket went over to the comlink and messaged Shelby. "I guess I passed this." Wicket said.

"That you did. Good job. If you can please come out and have a seat while we wait for the others to complete. I have already graded the written part. I did that while you were doing the obstacle course." Shelby replied.

Wicket headed out to the room and noticed that Zwailen was already finished with the obstacle. Jeez. He finished first again. Wicket took a seat next to Zwailen and waited for the other students to finish. A few minutes passed and the rest of the students began to enter back into the room. Once everyone was back and seated, Shelby went to the front of the room.

"Ok, I have the results ready for you. Fortunately, yes fortunately, one of you failed. I saw fortunately because this person fell asleep and quite frankly, was giving me a headache. Anyway so Mr. Sleepsalot, you failed both the writing portion and the obstacle. You missed two questions and choose the wrong gun. Maybe if you wouldn't have fallen asleep you would have passed. So if you can please leave now." Shelby watched as "Mr. Sleepsalot" left. He didn't seem disappointed nor happy. "Lets continue shall we. Wicket. Good job. You passed. You answered all the questions correctly and completed the obstacle course in an amazing time. I commend you." Shelby said. She continued to tell everyone their scores. The rest of the class passed. "Ok so you have a free day tomorrow. come back in two days and we will continue on with our lessons. The next lesson will be on field fortifications. Once again congratulations to all of you. And I will see you in two days."

Wicket packed up his stuff and left the room and headed towards his condo.

------Wicket's Quarters------

Wicket collapsed on his bed. He let out a huge sigh of relief. "Well that takes a lot out of one person." Wicket said aloud. "I need to get some rest." Wicket fell asleep.

Comments: Allright, I'm gonna fill in for Kairo here while he's on leave. Normally, I end up having people re-do this story due to being too vague or having the wrong idea, so you wouldn't be the first one to re-do it. I like your approach on the story though, you passed. (By the way, where do I sign up to get one of those condos? )

Combat engineer/ Level 2/ Story 3/ Field Fortifications.

Wicket woke up well rested after having a day off from training. He knew that he had a long day ahead of him. Field fortifications included lots of work that he was not quite used to yet.

Wicket headed to the window and opened the curtains. He opened the window to let the nice warm summer breeze whoosh past his face. The suns rays shone through the window, lighting up the room in the most intense light. Wicket took a deep breath and then exhaled. Ahh, what a glorious morning. He knew this was going to be a great day.

Wicket headed to his closet and picked out casual comfortable clothes that he wouldn't mind getting dirty. Hmm, I think I'll wear this. After putting on his clothes, Wicket headed to his kitchen and made himself a nice breakfast. While eating his delicious food, he looked over at the clock on the wall. "Oh my God!" Wicket yelled, noticing he only had ten minutes to get to class. He went over to his bed, collected his materials, and ran out the door leaving the kitchen a mess. I'll clean that up later. He thought as he ran out the door.

The hustle and bustle of the city was more than Wicket had ever seen before. He dodged people in and out. Wicket now saw the training facility and began to run faster. He was not paying attention to the ground, and tripped over a piece of metal pole. Son of a ... All of his materials went everywhere. Wasting no time, Wicket frantically picked up all his materials and continued to run to the facility. He finally reached the building with one minute remaining.

------Training Facility------

Wicket took a seat in the front of the class. All of the students were already there. Shelby was no where to be found. Everyone else was having a conversation about something or other, but Wicket was too busy catching his breath to join in the conversation.

A few more minutes passed and Shelby was still not there. Wicket was becoming annoyed. I ran here and tripped for what? Nothing! Suddenly Shelby entered the room with bags of materials.

"Welcome class. Sorry I'm late. I had to go to the market and pick up a few things that we will be needing for the class today." Shelby said as she set the bags down on the table in the front of the room. "Today we will be learning about field fortifications. I hope everyone had a restful day off because today, you will be doing lots of manual labor." Shelby smiled and looked over at Ivan, one of the student who definitely had the most muscle, when she said 'manual labor'. Wicket noticed this. Pfft. All brawn, no brain. Wicket thought as he flexed discretely.

Shelby continued, "Anyway, you will be learning how to build defense and hide yourself from enemy attack. This is very important in battle because it protects you from enemy fire. Also, if done properly, may give you the advantage of a preemptive strike. Preemptive strike can significantly reduce the amount of enemy numbers. So with that said, today you will have to build your own source of protection. Each one of you will go to a door that leads to a very large room. Inside this room is an landscape. Each room has a different landscape and weather. You may get a forest or you may get a wide open field. So what you get is completely at random. You will have to make the best protection you can. Each one of you will get a bag of supplies. In this bag, there will be the supplies necessary for you to complete your task. Are there any questions?" Wicket raised his hand.

"Umm yeah, do we have to complete each door or do we only have to complete one successfully?" Wicket asked.

"Good question. You only have to do the one you pick. I will determine if you succeed or not. Any other questions?" Shelby looked around. Zwailen raised his hand.

"What type of fortifications do we use?" Zwailen asked.

"Another good question. You will use whatever fortification that fits the environment you got best. So it is up to you what kind you use. Each environment is suited best with a different 'fort'. So just do what you can. So if that's all the questions, then let's get started. Come and get your personalized bag, personalized by me, and head to which ever door you choose." Shelby said.

Wicket headed to the table and saw his name on a pink bag in green sparkly letters. Can't get more feminine than this. Wicket went to door number two. Shelby and Ivan were making googly eyes with each other as he headed to the door. "Ok, once again, when the light above the door turns green you may begin." Shelby explained. "Oh I almost forgot. You have an hour to complete your task. After the hour is up, get in your barrier, fort, what have you and stay there till i come and I will judge your creation. Remember, it has to be durable and camouflaged."

After a few seconds, the red light above the door turned green. Wicket pushed a button and the door opened. He entered the room. Wicket was greeted with a super heat wave. "What the hell is this place. The surface of the sun!" Wicket yelled as he observed his surroundings. Wicket had chosen an open desert with the sun beating down all over. Let's take a look at what we have in this bag. Wicket was digging around the bag. There was a blaster, a shovel, a metal sheet, some poles, rope, and other small things. He decided to take the blaster, shovel, and metal sheet. I can use this shovel to dig a trench. With the extra sand, I can make a dune in front of the trench to make it less visible. I can also make other sand dunes so that the enemies wont know which, if any, the trench is behind. And besides, one sand dune in an open desert will stand out like a sore thumb. Then I will place this metal sheet inside of the mound in front of my bunker so that if they shoot the dune, it will hit the metal, and not go through. Well now that I know what I'm doing, I'll get started.

Wicket took the blaster, shovel, and metal sheet and headed to the back of the huge room. This looks like a good place. Wicket began to dig into the sand to create his trench. He dug it just deep enough that he could peek his head out if need be. The trench was about five and a half feet deep and about three feet wide. After about thirty minutes, he was done digging. The sand piled up in front of th trench just as he had wanted. Wicket the placed the metal sheet into the dune just enough that it was no longer visible. Ok now for the other dunes.

Wicket wandered the room making dunes at random spots. When he was done there were five dunes in total. One had the trench behind it, and the others had nothing, serving as a distraction. Wicket was headed back to his bunker when all of a sudden a loud, ear shattering buzzer went off. "What the ... " Wicket screamed as he dove into the trench. "Time must be up."

Wicket popped his head out of the bunker and noticed Shelby enter through the door. She had a confused face. "Wicket!" She yelled, trying to make Wicket come out of hiding. He didn't want to blow his cover, so he remained quiet. Shelby headed to each dune one by one and looking behind them to see if Wicket was there. She even went as far as destroying each mound in thoughts that Wicket might be in one of them. She finally reached the one Wicket was behind. She kicked at the mound in an attempt to destroy it. Her foot hit the metal sheet.

"Hey, there you are." Wicket said as he jumped out of the trench.

"Yes, here I am." Shelby grumbled as she grabbed her foot in pain. "Do you care to explain how this is your fortification?"

"Of course not." Wicket said. He started to explain. "Ok so, I dug a trench to provide cover from enemy fire. All blaster bolts will go over the head. Also, I decided to add the dune so that the trench would be hidden. But if there was only one dune in an open field that would look odd and it would also draw attention, so I added others to provide distraction. I guess you could say it disguised my dune. Then I added the metal sheet into the dune to provide extra protection. If the enemy should decide to shoot at the dune, the laser would hit the metal sheet and not go through the sand. So that's pretty much it." Wicket explained.

"Well, I had no idea where you were. I guess if I where the enemy, I would be dead. You would have shot me while I was trying to find where you were. Good job. It is well camouflaged, and I had no idea where you were. And the trench and dunes provide protection. You passed. You can go back to the classroom." Shelby congratulated.

"Thank you." Wicket said as he wiped the sweat off of his head.

He headed back to the room. All of the other students were already in there seats. They were all discussing methods they used. Shelby went to the front of the room. "I want to say congratulations to all of you. You all passed. Each one of you had a different method you used. So again, good job. You can go home and be back here tomorrow at the same time for our next class which is explosives deployment."

Wicket headed out the doors. He noticed Ivan stay back to talk to Shelby. No wonder he passed. Wicket thought as he went back to his condo.

------Wicket's Condo------

When Wicket returned he hopped right into the shower and turned the cold water on high. He took a nice long cool shower. After the shower, Wicket laid down on his bed. "God that was hard work. It will all pay off in the end though." Wicket said as he fell asleep.

I changed my mind. With the addition of the trench behind the shelter, you are fine. It all works out, and the main point is to show you can make a fortification, which you did. Proceed to the next story.

((O.C.C.- This is my first Spec story so I'm willing to change it if its not what you were looking for.))

Heavy Weapons Specialist
Fire Support Tactics

Brightstar wasn't exactly sure how, but she found herself in the simulation building, in a room, with five other Heavy Weapons Specialist trainees and a tall balding man by the name of Sgt. Godfrey. Godfrey was a tall, gruff, and fit looking man in his mid to late fifties. As Brightstar entered, she saw Godfrey standing with one hand resting on a strangely shaped....something, and waved her in with the other hand.

"Ah, LCPL Brightstar. Its nice to finally put a face to the name." Godfrey said with a good natured grin.

"Why do you say that, Sir?" Bright asked calmly.

"Well, Because I've been waiting to meet you since you were in the academy. Since you were placed in Eclipse, however, I've had to try quite hard just to get you to show up." Godfrey laughed. "I've also heard some good things about you, I admit myself eager to see what your capable of. I'm eager to see what all of you can do." With that he pulled the kanvas covering off of the strange object.

Brightstar, along with the other trainees, stared. It was obviously a weapon, but Bright was at a loss as to what kind, although many aspects of it looked quite familiar. Even so, on the two missions that Brightstar had been on with her squad she'd seen only three of these weapons in passing. From the blank looks the others were giving, Brightstar guessed that they hadn't the slightest idea of what kind of weapon this was either.

"Oh come on! No one knows what this is?"Godfrey asked looking pointedly at Brightstar. He paused only for a moment, but when no one answered him, he continued, "I'm disappointed. Folks this is an E-Web Heavy Repeating Blaster!" He said with a flourish.

Brightstar suddenly recognized the parts of the weapon and nodded. She had learned much about this particular weapon when she had just started hauling supplies for the empire years ago. Parts for the E-Web, were some of her biggest loads. She'd just never seen one put together completely for more than a few seconds.

"LCPL Brightstar, care to enlighten the others, since you seem to have recognized this beauty. Tell them what you know of this little baby." Later Brightstar would ask herself how Godfrey knew that she would know so much about the E-Web, but this was now. Sgt. Godfrey's words were not a request.

Brightstar cleared her throat and started, "The E-Web is a repeating blaster manufactured by BlasTech Industries. It is one of the most powerful repeating blasters in the VE Arsenal." She said pulling the information from her memory. "The E-Web, from what I have been told, has an optimum range of 200 meters with a max range of 500 meters." Bright looked to Godfrey to confirm her information, he nodded and gestured for her to continue.

"The E-Web, I know, is fairly mobile, but, I have learned,  has to be rigidly mounted in order to counteract the effects of its incredible fire power. According to a former contact, it takes a relatively long time to set up." Bright said. "The only other thing I know, is that the E-Web is that it requires a crew of two to operate with optimum efficiency."

"Well you knew more than I expected you to know." Godfrey said. "As Brightstar mentioned the E-Web requires a two man crew to operate at optimum effeciency. This is why." The Sgt. pointed to the gun and to another part of it with a bunch of flashing lights. "Obviously a person is needed to operate the firing mechanism, the gun, another is needed to moniter and adjust the Eskoan Class-4T3 Power Generator."

"But why is that, Sargent?" One of the other trainees, Linnely, asked.

"Because the 4T3 is prone to overheating and is potentially explosive when its overloaded." Another trainee, Maze, answered nodding his head as if he had just caught on.

"Yes, despite its advanced Gk 3 Cryocooler Cooling unit." Godfrey said. "You can that see power is fed to the E-Web through this conduit that connects to the base of the TR-62 Autocushion Tripod. There's a built in comlink with an automatic encryption for secured comm with other units. The computerized fire control and targeting system includes infrared and Starvision lowlight enhancement for use in night combat."

Bright took a deep breath. Without realizing it, her palms had began to sweat. She knew that the tall Sgt. would want them to use them now. She wasn't quite sure she woud do too well at this, Bright almost always stuck with melee combat. Now she had to use a ranged weapon with a hell of a kickback.

"Alright, pair up." Came the order. "One pair to the E-Web at the far end of the room and one here to this one. We're going to test accuracy my little nerf calves." Godfrey laughed and placed Brightstar in the gunner's position. "Just shoot any New Republic uniform that you see." He said.

Right. I don't think its going to be quite that easy, Sarge. Bright thought. "Whats the catch?" She asked.

"Catch?" Godfrey asked with a frown. "Why would there be a catch LCPL Brightstar?"

"Because there always is." Bright muttered.

Godfrey chuckled and nodded. "Indeed there always is. You are all to protect an area called the Pick up point and the other troopers that are not assigned to an E-Web. Do not and I repeat DO NOT let any NR Troops past your vantage points. You'll be at this for an aproximate total of twenty to twenty-five minutes so use the time you have well." The big man smiled tightly. "This sim is progressive meaning it will get more difficult and faster as the sim continues. I wish you all the the best of luck and may the sim begin."

The sim started. As she was being tested for accuracy Bright took careful aim with the first few NR troops that dared show themselves. To prevent an early overload Bright followed the advice of her partner and only tapped the trigger long enough to make a kill. Being the way she was Brightstar asked for constant updates on the situation, such as how long they had left so she could watch how she was shooting, and how the other E-Webers were doing.

As more troops swarmed into view, keeping tabs on everything became nearly impossible, and an overload almost seemed imminant in her eyes. Bright kept one ear open to her partner so she could hear him and the information he was passing. Though he kept her well informed Brightstar ultimately told him to drop the info on how long they had left as it was of very little use, but she told him to keep her informed of the status of the others.

"Linnely and Taybur are having some problems repelling the enemy." Maze said beside her.

Bright chanced a look up and at the other side of the pick up point. Maze was right the others were beginning to show the signs of being over run but they were putting up a hell of a fight. Sending a shower of bolts into the crowd in front of her, Bright swung her gun around to do the same to the other side just as they had decided to send out their own shower of bolts. It was effective enough for the moment but if things kept going like they were Bright would have other problems to think about. She swung back to her original postion in time to catch the next wave coming toward her.

By the end of the simulation, Bright was almost near a panic but she was still managing to keep it well in check long enough to hear Maze inform her that they were overloading. The sim ended at that time, and Brightstar couldn't have been happier.

"Excellent!" Godfrey said with pride. "All of you did well. Brightstar I have to admit, I have a gained a new respect for women gunners. Your accuracy was a 63.25% with more than 10,000 shots fired, I also have to say you really kept your head near the end where most others loose theirs."

Although Bright was bubbling from the praise, she kept it well hidden as it would not do well to gloat.

"I am proud of all of you. You have proved to this old man that he was wrong about young troopers. You worked well as teams and you put everything you had into this exercise, however there is always room for improvement. Dismissed." Godfrey grinned and shook his head as they all left.

Brightstar somehow reached her quarters and fell onto her bed. She lay there for a long time just staring at the wall. Next time I will be better. I nearly paniced and that is never a good thing. With that Bright drifted off to sleep.

Passed. Much better Bright. You just have a few missing commas, but other than that nothing else was really wrong.

Combat engineer/ Level 2/ Story 4/ Explosives Deployment.

Wicket woke up from the sound of his alarm. He reached his arm over and whacked the clock off of the stand it was on. The sound immediately stopped. It is way too early for this. Wicket thought as he rubbed his eyes, trying to fully wake up. After a few minutes of stretching, Wicket finally got up out of bed. He was not in a good mood today. "What lesson is it today?" Wicket said, grabbing for his datapad. "Looks like I get to blow things up." Wicket finished getting ready and headed out the door.

------Training Facility------

When Wicket arrived at the facility the doors were locked. "What the hell!" This did not help with his anger. He searched around to see if any people were close. Wicket walked to the side of the building and saw a note on the wall, it read:

ALL COMBAT ENGINEER STUDENTS

Report to training facility number two.

When Wicket read this, he slammed his fist against the wall. He walked down the street to facility two. He opened the door and was greeted by a pleasant aroma. Wicket was no longer mad. In fact he was happy, very happy. He joyfully walked to the room. All the students were already there. "Good morning everyone!" Wicket said with a large smile on his face. They all stared at him oddly. Shelby then replied, "Good morning Wicket. If everyone is ready, Let's begin shall we? Today's lesson is on explosives deployment. There are many different explosives that can hurt the enemy's advancement. There are grenades, many of them, each have different abilities and different purposes. There are also mines that can be used. Mines can destroy machines that happen to cross paths with them. They can also blow up people." Shelby chuckled. "Anyway where was I. Grenades, mines, ahh yes, bombs. Bombs can also blow up things. Bombs can blow up bridges, ... bridges are the only thing I can think of. Oh! They can also blow up buildings. Any questions?" Zwailen raised his hand. "Yes?"

"What types of grenades or explosives are there?" Zwailen asked.

"Good question. There are concussion grenades, cyroban grenades, and others. Concussion grenades stun anybody in its blast radius. Cyroban grenades create like a ice patch freezing people where they are in the blast radius. There is also something, my favorite, called a thermal detonator. A thermal detonator is very strong yet very unstable so more people use it as a time bomb basically." Shelby explained. "Any other questions?" Zwailen raised his hand again. "What now?"

"What are we doing today?" Zwailen asked.

"I was about to tell you. Have some patience. Today you will have three objectives. One in each door. You will have to use explosives in each obstacle. In the first door, you will need to blow up a bridge. In door number two, you will need to destroy a bunch of droids trying to kill you. And in the last door, you will have to destroy an enemy convoy approaching. I once again have personalized each persons bag. In each bag there are different explosives that you will be able to use. I love decorating. Anyway come get your bags and go to one of the doors. When you finish one door comm me so I can see if you passed the objective." Shelby explained. "Let's get started. Once again when the light above the door turns green you can begin."

Wicket headed up to the table to get his bag of explosives. Once he got it, he headed to door number one. A few seconds past and he light turned green. Wicket pushed a button and the door opened. He noticed a small bridge. I guess I have to blow this up. Wicket looked through his bag, examining what was in there. There was concussion grenades, thermal detonators, cyroban grenades, detpacks, and a blaster pistol. I guess I'll use the thermal detonators. Wicket thought as he took out five of them. He went up to the bridge and placed them all on one side of the bridge. He then set them so they would explode in one minute. One minute should be enough time for me to get to a safe location. Five should be enough to collapse it. Wicket thought as he set the time. When the time was set, he headed back to the door.

He covered his ears, closed his eyes, and curled up on the ground just in case it exploded too much and debris came flying at him. Time passed and...BOOM! The the explosion of the bridge shook the whole room. Wicket opened his eyes and could barely see anything. Smoke filled the room and the debris started to settle. When the smoke cleared, Wicket could begin to see that the bridge had toppled. "I did it!" Wicket yelled, getting out his comlink. "I blew up the bridge if you wanna come see.."

"Alright. I'll be right there." Shelby replied.

Wicket waited a few minutes and Shelby finally came. "Well, it looked like you did indeed blow up the bridge. So how did you do it?"

"I looked through the bag and decided that the thermal detonator would be the best choice to destroy the bridge. So I took out five and placed them all on one side of the bridge. I did that because if they didn't have enough power, they would be useless all spread out. But when they are all focused on one part it would be more powerful. Then I set the time for one minute so I had enough time to get a safe distance away. A minute later it exploded." Wicket explained.

"Good job and good strategy. Go on to the next door." Shelby replied.

Wicket headed to the next door and opened it. Immediately, five droids began rushing at Wicket with vibroblades drawn. "Oh shit!" Wicket yelled tyring to figure out what to do. He then remembered that he had some cryoban grenades in the bag. He took out a grenade and lobbed it at the droids. The droids froze in place from the ice that froze around them. Wicket then took out his blaster and shot at them. He downed them with one shot each. Wicket then messaged Shelby. "I'm done with the next objective."

"Alright. I'll be right there." Shelby said again.

this is pretty fun Wicket thought as he was waiting for Shelby to come. A few moments passed and Shelby came up behind Wicket. "I see you took out the five droids. Good job. How did you do it?" Shelby asked.

"Well when I opened the door. I was welcomed by the droids chasing at me. So I had to think fast. I remembered that I had some cyroban grenades. So I threw one of those at them. They froze in place which gave me time to shoot them down. That's how I did it." Wicket explained.

"You are doing an excellent job. Move on to the next and final door." Shelby said as she left to go help another student. Wicket headed to the final door.

Wicket opened the door. The room had what resembled a pathway to the left and a forest to the right. "Ok, so I'm going to need to stop an enemy convoy. I am probably going to need to place some sort of mine in strategic positions. Once the mines are set, I could hide in the forest." Wicket said as he took out some detpacks. He placed three at each end of the path and around the edges of the 'forest'. When Wicket was done placing the mines, he went into the forest. Every now and then, Wicket would poke his head out to see if anything was coming. Then all of a sudden he heard some sort of machine. He peeked out and saw the enemy. There were three speeders. When the speeders were close enough to the mines, Wicket pressed the button on the pad that controlled the detpacks. Two of the vehicles blew up. People also flew from the speeders. It looked like there was three people per speeder. From the remaining speeder, the three enemies ran towards the forest. "What more people I have to kill!" Wicket yelled, looking through his bag to see what else he could use. The concussion grenade! I'll use that to stun them. Wicket grabbed the grenade and waited for the men to get close enough. When the men were about 20 meters away, Wicket hurled the grenade at them. It landed directly in front of the men. They became temporarily stunned. Wicket took out his blaster and started to shoot. He killed them just like he had done with the droids. Wicket looked around to see if any more enemies were coming. There were none in sight.

Wicket breathed a sigh of relief. I'm done for the day. Wicket thought as he took out the comm and messaged Shelby. "Shelby, I finished the course."

"Wow, you finished first. Good job. I'll be right there." Shelby said.

Wicket layed on the ground to try and regain his energy. Shelby came up to Wicket. "Are you alright?" Shelby asked.

"Oh yeah. I'm fine. Just trying to catch my breath." Wicket replied.

"Oh alright. Well can you tell me how you managed to defeat the enemy?" Shelby responded.

"Sure. First I knew I was going to need place mines. So I placed them at the north and south sides of the pathway. Then I placed mines around the edges of the forest for extra protection. Then the speeders came and I pressed the button to make the det packs detonate. Two of the three speeders were destroyed. Three men from the final speeder came chasing me. I knew I couldn't out run them. I took out a concussion grenade and threw it at them. When they were stunned, I began shooting at them. So yeah. That's how I did it." Wicket explained.

"Well, good job. You used a variety of the explosives given to you and used them and knew their functions. You can head back to the room and wait until the others finish. I will tell everyone they passed when they all finish." Shelby said.

Wicket headed back to the room. No one was done yet. He waited for almost thirty minutes before everyone was finished. Shelby headed towards the front of the room. "Congratulations. You all passed. Each of you did a good job in completing your tasks. You all had different strategies, yet were all effective. You don't have a day off this time. Be back here tomorrow at around lunch time. Actually we will be in the original building. The reason we were in here today is because they were doing construction. You are dismissed."

Wicket headed out the door. "Well that was fun. Hopefully tomorrow will be even more fun." Wicket said as he began a prideful walk back home.

I'll pass it, but there were two things I didn't personally like. First, it all seemed a bit cheesy. The way everyone talked was too "happy." Also, describing what you did after each door to the instructor was odd. She probably had the simulation rooms monitored and would have seen what happened. Just repeating what happened every time chopped the flow of the story up. The other thing was, depending on the convoy, if they were all speeders, they would likely be going really fast. Maybe too fast for you to react in time for the blast to hit them properly. Just something to dwell on in future stories.

Corporal RK,
Please make your way to the front desk, your new Mentor has arrived and he wants you to meet him up there. If this is not possible please reply.

RK pocketed his data pad and walked up the  long stairs. He didn't think they seemed so long, but then again he was going down them, not up them the first time.

When he finally got to the top he was panting, he hadn't slept in a day, he had been so worried aobut getting this spec done that everything else was a low priority, even finishing th spec and getting a promotion sounded appealing, but that would be for Garet to decide. Right now he had bigger worries.

"Corporal RK, I presume?" A tall man asked. Holding out a hand.

"That's me, the one and only." RK said extending his hand and shaking the mans.

"Good to finally get to meet you, Jan said you were quite the electrician. The names Bront Skyll, I will be your Instructor for the rest of this particular spec." Bront said.

"Nice to meet you Bront." RK replied.

"Why don't we head outside and get started." RK nodded.

Bront lead the way outside, it seemed like hours went by as they weaved around fallen debris. Land mines, or so Bront said. And other assorted junk that was scattered along the field. Soon Bront stopped and stooped down. He didn't say much, but most of RK's mentors where a man of few words. But this time it just creeped him out.

"Alright, we will start here." Bront said handing RK a vibro shovel and a Welder. "I know you haven't learned how to weld yet, but that's what this is all about. Learning." Bront said grinning.

"Okay, so you know how to wire things, fix electronics, AND wire bombs together, which you shouldn't have learned, but I guess it's better late than never. Now you have to learn how to make a defense for you team. Nothing like weaponry just a place you can duck down into so that you won't get hurt badly." He paused. He looked like he was trying to recollect a thought that was lost in the back of his mind. "so you have two options, make something you want, or make a trench." He finished, obviously giving RK the time to speak.

"I think I will make a trench, sounds easy enough." RK said, trying to make himself sound confident, but it was slipping away with every moment.

"Alright, but first..." RK interrupted.

"I know how to make  trench it's a hole in the ground." RK said, turning on the vibro shovel and sticking it in the ground.

"It's not that easy..." Bront sighed, he knew it wasn't going to help.

"I can do it." RK tried to assure him they would be done in minutes.

"Alright."

RK dug out at the dirt, taking chunks out, quicker and quicker. He was soon in a  hole and digging faster and faster. However he didn't know what was going to happen. He finally dug at the wall and that's when he realized it wasn't going to be as easy as it looked. Dirt and mud poured in surrounding his feet and up to his waist. "uhhhh..." was ll he could say.

"So, still think it's that easy?" Bront chuckled, he must have had either a good sense of humor, or apprentices like RK before, cause RK didn't think it that funny. Bront pulled RK out of the dirt and mud with such force it felt like his arm was going to come off. "So you want to try it again?"

"no sir." RK said, clearly embarrassed.

"Alright now listen, to make a good trench defense you have to make it smooth, but you can't dig into the walls, as you now know, it ends badly." he laughed. RK would have killed him if he wasn't trying so hard to get a promotion and finish his specialty. "So first dig a trench, then pack the walls in, then if you have time, which in a real battle you could never do this... just because you should probably die. You could line it with medal as an extra defense, but that's only if you have time, it helps if there is another combat engineer in your team." Bront said picking up RK'S shovel and handing it back to him. "So now that you know what not to do, try it again."

Another combat engineer eh? Well, wicket and me could do that.  RK let his thoughts drift away as he took the shovel from Bront. He turned it back on and started digging away. He dug at the soft soil and started making progress. He started shoveling out ward in front of him to make more room. The dirt got harder the farther he got down in. soon it was nothing but clay, but the vibro-shovel still dug through it. He kept digging and digging. But Bront gave him the signal to stop. "Alright, you got the digging down now make it possible for people to stay in it an not get buried alive." He said, throwing the welder at RK. "Here's some help."

RK caught the welder and sat it beside him. He then climbed out of the trench and picked up some metal that he had seen laying on the ground.

He brought the medal back to the trench and left it aside. After that he took his hands and patted the walls as fast as he could, he was trying his best to make this like a real life scenario.

"Alright to weld medal together." Bront jumped down into the trench and picked up the medal and the welder. "First make sure you have something to protect your eyes." He threw RK a pair of goggles that were tinted. "Alright now take the two metal pieces and lay them side by side making fitting them as close together as they will go, this works better with thinner pieces." Bront turned on the welder and started melting the metal together. "If your going to be effective in doing this you going to have to make sure that it's not a thin weld and that it's nothing to thick, if it's to thin it will break easier, if it's to thick it might start to bend and whither." Bront took off his goggles and handed the welder to RK. "you try."

RK did as he was told. He picked up two pieces of metal and placed them as close together as they would go. He turned on the welder and started molding the two pieces together. The pieces started to look like one, he kept welding the same spot, soon it started to whither.

"Move it up and down don't stay in one place." Bront scolded.

"Okay." RK moved it up and down. All he could think about was he thought he was supposed to learn this latter on, but it didn't matter maybe this was basics. He finally got them together and started adding more. He did the same thing over and over. Soon he had a long strip of medal, he picked it up and stood it up  on the long side and dug it into the ground.

"Good job, don't know what else to say but you did good, except for screwing up more than once. So now that you are done why don't we move on." Bront said picking up the equipment.

"Alright, but I figured I get a big lecture or something..." RK said climbing out of the trench and following Bront.

Fire support tactics

Lain sat reading her heavy weapons manual, trying to prepare for her first simulation in the morning. She'd memorised so many facts about so many weapons her head hurt, and she wasn't even sure that it would help her at all. Knowing the weapons was the smallest and easiest part of the course.

------------------------------

A little nervously, Lain approached the building that would house the heavy weapons classes. She'd have been much less apprehensive if she had any idea what to expect, but she hadn't had much time to interact with any of the other troopers or talk to anyone who'd already started the classes. When she entered the allocated room, it was obvious there wouldn't be any sitting at desks or taking notes, but straight into demonstrations and probably participating in simulations. She also noted that she was the first one to arrive.

By the time the instructor introduced himself, another few troopers had made their way into the simulation room. Lain wasn't sure if that made her feel better or worse; at least alone there'd be no one to make fun of her if she failed. No thinking like that, I will not let myself fail! Competition will just make me work harder. Calling for quiet, the instructor asked the gathered troopers a few questions about heavy weapons and the most common tactics for their use.

"PFC Lain, imagine you are a member of a squad that needs to retreat and you're lucky enough to have packed your e-web. You're being pursued by a far superior number of the enemy, but they're only carrying small arms. Your pickup is waiting for you to make the area safe enough for them to land. What do you do?"

Lain considered this for a moment. "Sir, assuming the enemy is far enough behind us to allow for the proper preparation of the e-web to be completed safely, I would set up in a position that gives me the best possible vantage point over the greatest concentration of the enemy. I'd take out the front runners and commanders if I could identify them, being careful to make every shot count. As they get closer I'd have to abandon some of the accuracy in favour of speed to make sure none of the enemy could get past my position and into the LZ. I would try to ensure that as many of the enemy as possible were dead, incapacitated or taking cover before calling for the shuttle to land."

The instructor simply nodded and moved on to the next trooper, grilling them similarly but with a different situation. Lain smiled to herself, her confidence in her ability to do well at this specialisation raised a little. Once each of the troopers had answered their question not all of them satisfactorily they were split into groups to complete a simulation. They would take turns being gunner and looking after the monitoring of an e-web, and complete a different mission each. Lain was paired with one of the troopers whose response to the instructor's question hadn't seemed to satisfy him.

-----------------------

Lain chose to let her partner complete his simulation first, but she couldn't help giving him quiet pointers while she thought the instructor was out of earshot. His mission was to pin down a group of the enemy who had flanked their simulated squad inside a large warehouse style building. By her suggestion, they'd taken up position opposite the landing of a long staircase, limiting the area through which the enemy could approach. For 20 minutes they kept the enemy at bay while the rest of their squad went about destroying various targets within the building. Then the situation changed, the enemy found another way towards their position, and they were forced to retreat to cover several points of entry. Their success was more limited now, but by working together to spot and eliminate targets, and through a little luck, they managed to keep the enemy under control until the mission was completed. The instructor paused the sim and commended them both on their work. Lain looked at her feet as she realised he knew she had helped her partner.

"Don't worry about it PFC, teamwork is an integral part of being a successful squad. Only those unselfish enough to share their ideas have passed this first simulation. You will now take over as gunner to complete the 'mission'."

Lain and her partner switched positions and the simulation changed. Now they were positioned offensively on an elevated piece of ground, overlooking a battle. Their side was less numerous than the enemy, and had very few troops that weren't infantry. The enemy, despite being in a less advantageous position on the field appeared to be taking control of the battle. They had a large number of vehicles of various types that the light arm of the troopers couldn't penetrate. Lain smiled. It was a perfect situation to be in possession of a weapon like the e-web. She carefully chose a position that gave her an almost complete view of the current field of battle and aimed the powerful weapon at the nearest armoured vehicle. Out of no desire to take the lives of even simulated friendlies, she waited until they retreated from the advancing vehicle. With a couple of well placed blasts from the e-web, the vehicle and its occupants were soon much worse for wear. She had to shift a few times, but after more than 30 minutes the battle seemed to be going their way. Her partner was too occupied with taking care of monitoring the e-web's vitals to offer her much assistance.

A couple of times, the enemy came close to over running their position and Lain had to alter her fire to eliminate human targets. Just when she was beginning to think the simulation would never end, she managed to target and destroy the command vehicle and throw the enemy into chaos. With that, the simulation stopped and the instructor returned.

"That took a little longer than I thought it would, but good work. You could have done better with the choice of some of your firing positions, but you were successful in the end. Congratulations to both of you."

Lain and her partner saluted the instructor and left their simulation room. They stayed to watch the other pairs complete their assigned tasks. Most of them were similar to those that Lain and her partner had completed, and some of the troopers completed them much faster. Once all of them had finished, the instructor dismissed the class.

"Congratulations, you have all completed the first phase of your specialisation. I'll see you soon for the second."

Pass. It was a little short, but well done. Go ahead and go onto the next.

Thank you sir.

Level 1: Heavy Weapons Specialist
    Story 1: Fire Support

"Private First Class Jersh Everwind reporting for duty sir" Jersh said and saluted as he approached the desk of the Heavy Weapons Specialist Examiner. The plaque on the desk read 'Sergent Valla'. He heard the examiner clear her throat and looked up to find a silver-haired human woman staring at him. She raised her eyebrow as she seemed to look him over, judging his from his stance and appearance.

"You are fifteen minutes early Private Jersh" she commented, pulling up his profile on her personal Datapad, he could see an upside-down imagine of his self and she read through the text. "I see here you are a recent recruit from Correlia?" She asked, feigning interest in his heritage for the sake of protocol.

"Yes sir" Jersh replied shortly, he saw little point in discussing such a thing, but she was his superior officer after all. "I arrived from transit at 0800 local time".

Again her eyebrow arched as if she found something rather peculiar about him. "You arrived and settled you affairs in under two hours?" She said, glancing at her datapad again, which flashed the time 1000 periodically. "Usually the raw recruits tour our facilities before being dragged to debriefing and simulation" She comment and smiled at some private memory. She stood and slipped the datapad into a pocket of her uniform. "I assume you have a basic understanding of weaponry?" She asked sarcastically and added a little joke, "You know, make sure you can point the right end of the gun at your enemy?"

Not a single flicked of emotion crossed Jersh's face, not even a hint of a smile. Valla seemed slightly put off by his lack of humor but shrugged again, her long silver hair bobbing with the motion. "Very well then Private, follow me if you will to the simulation room". Jersh nodded and stayed two paces behind Sergent Valla as she lead him into a long hallway. Door branched off of the main hallway, hundreds of rooms by Jersh's quick estimation, but they travelled for some time before reaching their designated door. Sergent Valla turned to face him with an air of seriousness about her once more.

"This is Simulation Room 0315B, a basic gunfire tutorial that helps our raw recruits better understand the concept of battle" She said, as if she were rehearsing from some written report. "The terrain is a basic assault style map, with yourself at the high ground and enemies surrounding you from all sides. They are provided with minimal cover in the lowest difficulty setting. You will have a team covering you with support fire, but their blasts will not count towards your score". Valla placed her hand on a panel near the door and an access hatch opened, from which Valla pulled E-11 Rifle and placed it in his hands. "You are provided with this simulated blaster and are given ten minutes to dispatch as many enemies as possible. Any questions?" She concluded with that smile on his lips once again.

Jersh shook his head and set the blaster to 'Active' and waited near the door for Sergent Valla to give him the go-ahead. He did not like the feel of the gun in his hands and sighed that he must first go through such trials to move closer to his ultimate goal. He snapped his attention back to the present as Valla was speaking. "-so usually we set it at the lowest level for new trainees, but you look like you could handle a little more difficult situation" She said, programing the computer at the door and stepping back once she initiated the simulation.

"Simulation 0315B - Level 5 initializing. Time limit set to ten standard minutes. Ammunition limited to One-hundred-twenty-five rounds. Team cover effectiveness, reduce. Visibility, lessened. Simulation will begin in three, two, one" The computer counted down and on the final count, the door opened and Jersh ran inside, crouched.

Laser bolts soared over his head and the sounds of exploding artillery in the distance reached his ears. They were pinned down over a small rise and the light of two suns was fading into the horizon slowly. Jersh braced his back against a half-destroyed AT-ST walker and stole a quick glance at the small army approaching their position. The enemies darted to and from cover, never staying in the open long. Jersh closed his eyes for a moment and found his calm, cold center before rising again, bracing his arm and gun against the walker remains. He set his rifle to a higher level of power, it would consume energy faster, but his shots would be more accurate. Taking a bead on the target, he squeezed the trigger slowly. The bolt caught the man in the throat and he fell back to the ground in a shower of blood and smoke.

"The aim is off, inches too high at this distance" Jersh muttered to himself and calculations ran through his mind. His fingers flashed over the rifle in a blur and within moments his next bolt was soaring through the air to catch another enemy dead in the chest, sending him sprawling backwards into his companions. Jersh continued to fire down on the suddenly halted assault, the enemy was ducking for cover to avoid the blasts. One hid behind what was once a view panel for a TIE fighter. With careful aim, Jersh's blast burned through the weakened material to strike him right between the eyes. After the first few moments of shock wore off, they returned fire that forced Jersh back down behind his make-shift barricade.

The minutes passed as Jersh shifted positions to throw off the guards, each time he rose he quickly put down more of his foes. The bodies of their fallen comrades were interfering with the enemies advance as well. The ground grew slick with dark red blood, the glare of the sun did little to impede Jersh's aim. As the time limit neared he heard a yell of pain from behind him and saw two enemy troops vaulting themselves over the barricade his squad mates had formed. The member assigned to guard that flank was on down and out. The rifle was blasted from his hands as he rolled to the side to avoid enemy fire. In his roll he felt his skin cut open by shards of plasteel left behind by some previous explosion.

Thinking quickly, he continued his roll, picking up two dagger-like shards and hurling them end over at as the enemy. One clutched as his chest as the sharp projectile pierced his heart and the other fell over as well, a like shard buried into his leg. Jersh leapt upon the last remaining enemy and formed his fingers into a rigid extension of his self and thrust at his enemies throat, crushing the windpipe easily. A loud beeping noise suddenly sounded and Jersh retrieved his rifle before standing and letting out a deep sigh of relief that the simulation was over. A counter appeared along the wall and Jersh strode over towards it.

Jersh sighed again as he set down the E-11 Rifle and stepped back from the room. The corpses of enemy soldiers fading in the static as the simulation was terminated. Jersh stared at the simulated sunset until that too was terminated, leaving only darkness. The lights turned on once more and the door to the chamber opened, Heavy Weapons Specialist Sergent Valla walking into the chamber with a smug smile on her face.

"An impressive body count" She said as she looked down to her datapad and then back up to him. "Particularly those last two. And here i thought you were a novice to combat" She said, looking back onto the list again that detailed Jersh Everwind's history. "There are quite a few gaps here in your past First Private Jersh". That smiled crossed her face again, one that seemed amused and impressed at the same time. "I wonder what you were do-". Jersh cut her off with a cold glare that made even a trained imperial such as Valla pause for a moment.

"I did a little soul searching" Jersh said in a low-toned voice. One that suggested she cease that particular line of questioning. He turned back to stare at the rifle, still warm from the simulated blasts. "I do not like guns" Jersh said, abruptly changing the subject. "I prefer to fight others on more equal terms".

Valla stared at Jersh, her eyes wide and her mouth slightly open from shock at what he said. She quickly recovered and gave a nervous laugh. "Then why did you because a Heavy Weapons Specialist boy?" She asked with a mocking smile. Jersh walked away without answered and the door slid open under his touch. He paused as he was about to exit the room, but did not look back.

"This is just a stepping stone" He whispered. With that, he left the room before Valla could respond.

Passed. Sorry about the delay. It was nicely done. Apparently you've already had extensive training and are a incredible fighter, making me wonder why you would ever have to have any training... ever. I don't know your character's past experience, so I can't judge that, but since you said you prefer to fight on equal terms and you don't like using blasters, I would have to assume you weren't an all amazing fighter with a gun. So basically, try not to make yourself a supertrooper in everything he does. You can, and I'm not going to not pass a specialty because you do it, but everyone is human.

(ooc : Aye, he is not handy with a blaster, but seeing as how there is no option to specialze in melee combat I was force to stick with this. Also he only did well because they are simluated targets, and even then he made the fatal mistake of allowing an enemy to take him from behind.... in his second spec you will see his true combat style)

Saphira walked along the shipping bay. Various ships and landcraft, seperated by catagori lined the room. From small class all up to the big one. Sighing, Saphira stopped to look at each one.
'Doc ordered you to take a practical and thus here you are. She thought to herself, feeling the eyes of the person behind her. Apparently the man was the specialist of all these machines and was going to asses her threw the course. Silently she cursed, knowing that the man was going to be a pain. Her eyes scanned across the room until they rested on the V-19 Landspeeder. A grin spread across her face as she hid it from the man.

"Find one?" He asked, apparently in a bored  voice. Nodding she turned to look at the guy. He was retired Army  and insisted on her calling him Pops.  He was in his fifties, greying hair as she lead him over to the Speeder.  Her hand rested on the grren finish, her lekku twitching  slighty as she watched him take out a com pad.

"Alright Striker, what can you tell me about this model?" He asked. A grin spread to her lips.

"SoroSuub had designed the V-19 Landspeeder to operate as both civilian and military transports. The V-19 was also equipped with thrust pods tucked in at its back to reduce target silhouette." She snapped off. The man only nodded and motioned for her to get in.  Saph did as she was told and no sooner then they both got on she  flipped the few switches and  brought the Speeder out of the hanger.

"Easy..." He began to say. Saph wasn't goign to have it. She wasn't a kid and knew how to pilot just about everything. Had the man been brilliant enough to even bother to look her up he probably wouldnt have said that. He had up a course and  easily she humored him and went threw it all with no mistakes. The man putting notes intot he pad as she went impatient.Alright let's see what this thing can really do Pushing the wheel foward it's acceleration kicked as she spun out of the base. A smile spreading on her face as she remembered back to her race days.

"Wait.. Slow.. Slow down.." The man cried as they came into a city. Her eyes flashed and civilians screamed and got out of the way. Swerving threw buildings she could tell the man was terrified. Saph was pushing the limits, swerving threw the streets  with only centimeters inbetween buildings and people. It was only when she noticed the man paling did she retunr to the base. Not wanting to have him die before he could  pass her.

"What in the hell is wrong with you.. You.. You could have killed  us and others." He snapped in a shaky voice. Saphira smiled and laughed. "No I wouldn't.. and besides if I had to flee and make a fast escape or chase an enemy on a speeder you don't think I would have  just cones  in my way right?" She replied calmy. Finially the man nodded.

"You pass.. Just so I don't have to see you again.. But you're right.." He breathed, handing her the data pad to take back to Doc. Saph only nodded before tucking it under her arm to head back to the main levels.

Course: Vehicle Navigation
Couse Type: Practical

Saphira reported next day to the sim course. The same instructor was sitting there waiting for her. His eyes giving her a twinkle of amusement as she approached him. "What.. no real ride this time?" She asked with amusement. Pop's looked at her for a moment before giving her a smile.

"Not today. For this traning you need to navigate into any conditions. Besides, after yesterday's little stunt I'm not risking you killing us both or damaging VE property." A little irritation was in his voice as Saph smiled mentally. Score one for her.

"Alright, sense I have taken the liberty of reading your files I decided to choose a class for you." Saph's eyes opened slighty.

"Wait. I thought I was allowed.." He cut her off.

"Well then, I guess you could have Striker but with your backround I figure you'd knw it all. Are you scared?" He smiled, trying to get at her. Well it wasn't going to work. Saph kept her mouth shut.

"You will be useing the 2-M Saber-class Repulsor Tank. Now, what can you tell me about this craft?" He asked as saph rolled her shoulder.

"Rothana Heavy Engineering.2xHeavy laser cannon,1xMedium twin laser turret,2xMissile launcher. Fits a crew of  three and two passengers. After suffering multiple defeats at the hands of Rebel Alliance T2-B tanks, Imperial tank brigade commanders called upon Rothana Heavy Engineering to develop a more powerful version of the TX-130 hover tank, the Saber-class fighting vehicle introduced during the Clone Wars.

2-M Repulsor Tanks come equipped with deflector shields, repulsorlifts, and a rotating laser cannon. They also contain additional power boosters in case the main repulsorlift battery fails. Tank commanders have found another use for the power boosters however and use them to supply additional power to the guns, increasing the tank's damage output for periods of time."

She replied as pops nodded for her to get into the Sim. Strapping herself in she waited for the lights to go on. Pops voice buzzing into her com as he told her to start the craft up. Sighing she mentally cursed herself at having  having piss him off. Regardless she did as was told, flipping switches as the Sim came to life and she went lost into the war game. Pop's indeed made her go threw everything. From diffrent terrian, firefights as well as going threw citys and other remote areas. Hell he even had programed for a a heard of rancors chasing after her. Each on though she passed. A few close calls with the fire fights, but the 'team' she had with her survived and made it to their objectives. Saph's hands moved over the controls with effiency, not missing a beat until the light cut out and she was done.

"How'd I do?" she replied, jumping out of the Sim. Pop's looked at her with a nod. "You pass. Though in a real fight you need to watch out for those rancor's. " He laughed, handing her the data pad and walked away.

Level 1: Heavy Weapons Specialist
Story 2: Indirect Fire

The door slid open just as he reached it and he found himself face to face with Sergent Valla of the Heavy Weapons Specialist division once more. Their noses nearly touching, Jersh stepped back swiftly and gave as good of a salute as he could in the somewhat crowded hall. "I received orders to report to you for my seconds evaluation sir" Jersh said quietly, he did not like to get that close to anyone... A flash of pain seared along his back, just under the shoulder-blades. He brushed away both the pain and the memory from it before his face could show anything.

"Very well then Private Jersh would you please follow me" She said, her voice seemed rather strained, as if she was not telling him something. He pushed it to the back of his mind, certain it was just his mind playing tricks on him. He followed her back inside her office and sat down in the chair across from her. Valla sat at her desk sifting through her personal datapad for information and occasionally glancing up at Jersh for some reason he could not place. This process went on for several minutes."I understand you have recently purchased one of our suits crafted from shadow silk, is that correct Private Jersh?" she finally asked him, setting her datapad to the side and sliding her hands together. Her pale white fingertips tapped together as she stared, waiting for his answer.

"That is correct sir" Jersh said, wondering just where this conversation was heading. He began to wonder if there was a bylaw that forbade new recruits from purchasing goods from the Imperial Store. 'No, that cannot be it' Jersh thought to himself, the computer would never had allowed him to purchase the goods with his ID if he were unauthorized to make purchases of such a kind. "Is there a problem with that sir?" Jersh asked, curiosity getting the better of him.

Valla paused for a long moment, as if deciding how best to phrase what she was going to say. "The simulation I am supposed to put you through is a basic indirect fire tutorial that you would have to be a nerf herder to fail" she said, her voice was different from the sarcastic tone she had used when first meeting him. "I am going to bump up the scenario a bit". A smile, like the one she had first revealed when they had done the last simulation, spread across her lips. It was obvious to Jersh that she was only changing things up for her own personal amusement, but he could really care less as long as the test was counted.

"What will the new goal of the mission be then?" Jersh asked her with a perfectly calm voice.

"Oh, it willl still be an indirect fire tutorial, so-to-speak" She said, keeping the smile fixed on her face and looked at him with her bright
eyes. "This type of simulation is more suited to a black ops specialist though" She said is a hushed tone. Jersh's attention snapped back on her as she said this and she let out a pleasant laugh. "Ah i thought that may get your attention" she said, half heartedly trying to cease the chuckles still within her. "So what do you say boy?" She said, using apparently what she assumed was a nick-name for him. "Want to give it a shot?"

Jersh inwardly sighed that she had apparently decided his nickname would be 'boy. He shrugged, it made little difference to him what she decided to call him. But she had peaked his interest with this new simulated mission she was offering him. The mission sounded as if it suited his fighting style perfectly and a devious smile spread across his face. Valla felt a shiver run down her spine as she say the slight curve of his lips, that smile..... it was one of death... she shuddered. "I would like to see the mission details before i begin the assignment" Jersh said in his calm voice and held his hand open before her.

She slipped a data pad into his hand and his eyes move furiously across the text as he scrolled down. His objective and equipment list were there as well as a rough holo-map of the landing zone. It was a densely packed forest of trees that were perfect for stealthy approaches. He could see the thermal signatures of various guards that were stationed around his target...a large capacity shield generator. He scanned his list of equipment and nodded in satisfaction at what he had been provided. "This is adequate" He said with a nod and handed the datapad back to her. "I assume there will be no backup".

Valla nodded and took the pad back, slipping it into a pocket in her spotless uniform. "Shall we?" she questioned and at Jersh's nod she led him back into the hallway that stored all of the holo-rooms. He lead him to one door without a word and it slide open at her touch. Jersh nodded his silent thanks to her for this opportunity and stepped through into the darkness.

A faint sliver of light caught his eye and he looked up towards the source of it. A pale moon, almost completely waned, flickered down at him through the gaps in the dense population of trees. He looked as his Shadow Suit, called such because it was crafted from the incredible material known as shadow silk. It absorbed both sound and light, adding to his natural skills of stealth. He smiled wickedly as he fished around in his pack and found a generous supply of tripping wire, a pair of vibroblades, a silenced slug-thrower and a single thermal detonator which he would use for the shield generator. He took two generous length of the wire and fiddled with them for a few minutes until he was certain they would not break loose easily.

The high pitched hum of a pair of speeders reached his ears as he crouched deeper into the shadows of the forest. Two troopers shot past him at a rather slow speed for a scouting party, this must be a part of the patrol. As he guessed they stopped their speeders shortly after passing them and surveyed the forest for less than a minute and began heading back towards him.

Jersh scrambled up the tree and picked a spot overlooking the projected path of the patrol. As they passed below him he leapt out and flung both his vibroblades out, each finding its way into the back of a trooper. The speeders continued on to gently crash into the underbrush, the corpses of the men fell to the ground with the blades still embedded within them. Two, bright silver lines seemed to connect the corpses to something attached around his wrists. With a violent jerk, the blades pulled free of their targets and flew across the distance to land in Jersh's outstretched hands, the coils of wire wrapped around his wrists again.

With a slight smile he continued on at a swift run in the direction they had approached him from, the vibroblades dangling from his wrists as he pulled out the silenced slug-thrower. He could see a lighted area up ahead in the distance and increased his pace, just a shadow running across a forest filled with swaying shadows. He spotted movement ahead of him and a slug was already soaring across the forest to catch the unsuspecting guard in between the eyes as he rounded a fallen tree. He heard a slight gasp and put his hand on the trunk, vaulting himself over to find himself soaring through the air over a deep trench filled with a pair of guards.

His right hand unloaded a pair of slugs into one as Jersh's left
hand flash in front of him, the dagger sinking into the skull of the other before either could shout out a warning. Another guard walked in from the side, fiddling with his zipper as another dagger whizzed past his face, he just barely manged to duck. Cursing and dodging a laser bolt he spun, whipping he wire around him in a circular motion so the blade attached ripped open the throat of the unlucky guard. He fell forward, blood gurgling from his ruined throat as Jersh retrieved his blades once more with a snap of his wrist. He did not move for a moment incase the struggled had drawn more attention, but was running once more.

As he reached the side of the generator he slipped his slug-thrower away and grabbed the blades in both hands, sinking them into the metal with powerful thrusts of his arms. He scaled the side of the rounded architecture as would a spider. As he neared the top, he found the target point, a small shaft that was used for cooling. With an evil smile he armed the Thermal Detonator and dropped it into the shaft, then turn and ran as fast as he could. He leapt out from the building, flinging both of his daggers in a vertical arch to wrap around and watch on a handful of strong branches. He was swinging away when the shock wave of the blast sent him flying, the wires finally snapping under his considerable weight. Flailing around he manged to catch a branch and pulled himself up to sit upon it, looking back at the large fireball rising into a pillar of smoke.

Jersh reached down, his breath coming a little hard to his lungs from the heat of the blast. He grabbed his comlink and said in a matter of fact voice. "Objective neutralized"

Spec story Level 1: Com. Tech. Story 1 Installation, Utilization, & Operation of Basic Comm. Equipment (italics are his thoughts)
Rike walked down to the training center, today would be the first day that he would be in training to become a certified Communications Technician. He had asked about his instructor, Lt. J Fox, and Kairo said he was the best. Rike saw that there were two other students walking in and he called out, "Yo wait up", Rike said and rushed to meet them, as he got closer he realized that they were some of his friends from the academy. Mike and James stopped and waited for him.

"No way look James it's Rike, remember from the academy we all shared a bunker room together", Mike said and laughed, "What an odd chance that we all are starting communication training together isn't it?"

"I guess" James said the quieter of them; Mike was the loud "funny" trooper, while Rike would be considered "normal" of the bunch. They walked in and say that there were 5 other students there as well. They were all human, except for Mike who was a Twi'lek. Rike, James, and Mike sat down in the back of the class room, which was small due to the lack of interest in new candidates in communications. Rike looked at the front desk and saw equipment boxes and wondered what would be in them. He didn't think they would get to use any equipment today and that saddened him. It would be weeks before they actually learned what a Com. Tech. did, during the first couple of weeks they would have to learn EVERYTHING about the system and how to use, or so Kairo had told him.

All the sudden the speakers came on, "Alert, Alert: heavy Rebel troops and vehicles are advancing on our position, we have taken heavy causalities and can’t hold out another wave, immediate artillery and air support request. 124minor395alpha67kodak, again 124minor395alpha67kodak, any surrounding forces would be helpful. And then the response, Roger Trooper immediate air and ground forces are now enroot to your position and will assist with artillery as directed" A man came out of the door in the back, he looked in his 50's and had grey hair and a bread. He wore a high officer uniform and an officer cap, his vest littered with awards.  This must be Lt. Fox, Rike thought to himself, the man spoke, "That is an example of why Communications Technicians are necessary. Without them we would not be able to direct artillery, air support, or watch ours or enemy movement. During the next couple of months you will learn all the information you need to do what you just heard on the speakers, and probably save many people's lives in the process later on. Many of you are probably thinking, that exact thing isn't going to happen, a com tech won't ever make that important of a call, but that’s wrong in fact that was the call I made in at the start of the Galactic Civil War years ago." Lt. Fox sat down at the desk, "If any of you are stupid, slow, dimwitted, lazy, forgetful, or weak, get out of my class room right now, I can't train you if that applies".

Rike saw that Mike had a little sweat rolling down his check and he noticed he did as well. This is going to be harder than I thought! Rike gulped as Fox got up and walked over to the desk to his right, "Now in here are you standard equipment; a Military-grade data pad, a planetary  communications rig, a droid repair kit, a computer repair kit, a diagnostics kit, and a lightweight tool kit. And if you don't know what those are don't worry we will go over them", Fox then handed out the packs of equipment one by one. Rike got his last and slowly unwrapped his. The equipment looked alien to him; he had no idea what any of it did. Fox walked over a back table and pulled out a stack of thick textbooks, "This is your guide, treat me well, if you lose them you have to acquire another one by your own means". This time Rike was the first to get his and he opened it up, "you will be responsible for reading the entire thing as we go along and understanding it all", Rike looked at the table of contents, 900 pages great, "Why would we use a book and not a holo pad or something, well the answer is simple, as a com tech is responsible for taking care of a lot of delicate equipment and if they can't even take care of a book then they will suck as a Com Tech. In face part of your final grade and exam will depend on how well you book is by the end of this course", He sat back down, "Now tonight’s homework is simple read the first chapter and understand the basics of what each component I gave you does, Dismissed", He got up and walked out before we did.

"Wow what a bad ass", Mike said getting fired up and gather his things "I like him, to the point and riff".

"I think this will be an interesting course say the least", James responded getting up and doing the same.

"Uhhhhhhh", Rike said sitting down for a moment "I don't know if I can do this guys", Rike said looking at the text book and then back at the equipment.

"Don't worry you will be fine Rike, you will do better than me I bet", Mike said and laughed, patting Rikes back, "Now let’s go the mess hall and grab some grub and hit this chapter". Mike said walking out the door and James followed. Rike slowly got up and started to head towards the door when he heard something crash to the floor; he turned around and saw a girl with her thing all over the floor.

"Oh dam", she said and bent over to pick them up, Rike put his stuff down on the table and rushed over and helped her pick them up. "Thank you, oh I'm Sarah Gabes" she said and put out her hand to shake.

Rike shook her hand and said, "Rike Malen", after turning and started to walk towards his stuff he heard her call out.

"Hey Rike want to go grab lunch together and study?"

"Uhhhhhhhh Sure", Rike smiled, though he was suppose to have lunch with James and Mike they certainly wouldn't mind him skipping them to go eat with a girl, he smirked, he could imagine the look on Mike's face when he saw them having lunch together. Rike looked back at Sarah; she was tall and skinny with long light brown hair and had the prettiest shade of blue for eyes. She was well filled out in other areas if Rike said so himself as well. They walked over to the lunch hall and sat down at a table towards the back. Rike saw Mike notice them from across the room and he smiled and gave a smile to Rike, At least I am off the hook with them, Rike said and laughed.

"What’s so funny?"

"Nothing, so let’s begin while we wait for the line to die down" Rike said opening his text book and Sarah nodded in agreement. They were studying for an hour and had forgotten all about getting food when the bell rang telling the soldiers to clear out and mess time was over. "Dam I guess we forgot to get food" Rike said with his stomach growling.

Sarah blushed as well, “I guess we did, hey why don’t we go get dinner together?”

Rike smirked and winked a little, “To study?”

“Not exactly”, Sarah said standing up and fixed her skirt before walking out with her books.

Mike immediately ran over and sat down when she had left, “Oh my god, Rike you lucky bastard you”, he said with a grin all across his face.  Rike got up and left to go get a shower and get ready.

Rike walked into the classroom the next day after his date, which had gone well. He sat at the back once again with his friends Mike and James; he put his stuff down as Lt. Fox walked in. “Good morning class” He said with a yawn.

“Good morning sir”, everyone in the class responded. Sarah looked back at Rike and smiled with a slight blush, Rike returned unaware of his blush as well. Mike giggles and James rolled his eyes.

Fox coughed and said, “Class today we will have a pop quiz over the basics on the equipment and the information on Chapter 1, which I hoped you all read, otherwise you will just enjoy this little test” he said with a smirk. He passed out all of the papers. Rike go his and looked at it he started the questions which were easy enough, due to Sarah and him studying through lunch yesterday he felt he understood the chapter well enough. After 10 minutes Fox collected the papers and gave it to an unnoticed droid by his desk, has that always been there?

Fox went on to explain some of the information that they would be learning over the course. Rike was taking notes during the whole thing, while Mike on the other hand was asleep, he could hear him snoring from his desk. After a couple of minutes into the lecture the droid spoke in droid speak informing the Lt. that the tests were graded. The droid passed them out, using their ids to figure out who was who.  Rike got a perfect score on his, James made no notion as to what he got but Rike leaned over and saw that he also had a perfect score. He did not need to ask Mike because he let out a gasp and saw that he had missed half of the questions on the test. “Did you even study Mike?” Rike asked still staring at the grade his friend had gotten.

“Uhhhh….uhmmmm…uhhhhh…” Mike said getting flustered.

“Which means that he hasn’t Rike” James said not even looking up as he stored his test results in his new datapad, “you two should do the same it will make it easier in the long run when you are trying to find out what you need to work on.” Rike nodded and added it as well, I wonder what Sarah got, I hope she did well.

“Class now we will go over in detail each item now. First let’s start with the datapad I gave you. Most of you know how to work one, but there are more features and we will also be learning how to break it apart and fix it…….” Fox went on to explain the datapad. Rike listen carefully and took detailed notes on the lecture. “Okay tomorrow w will begin the discussion of how to use the planetary communications rig, Dismissed” Fox said with a salute. After returning the salute James, Mike and Rike went to the bar to have a few drinks.

“So Rike how was your date last night, oh good buddy”, Mike said after ordering the first round of drinks.

“It was good, we are going to a concert tomorrow”, Rike said as the drinks got there, “So Mike, you actually going to study from now on” Rike said and both him and James laughed.  Mike cursed him out and drank took a drink.

“Seriously, failing this will look bad on your record Mike”, James said taking a sip of his own drink.

Mike scratched his head and said, “Well yeah I won’t be making that mistake again”, Mike said and laughed. They talked about class, life in the army, and woman for the next hour until James got up about to leave, “Bye James see you tomorrow” Mike said finishing his fourth drink.

“Yeah see you later”, Rike said with a nod taking a drink of his third.

“Later guys”, James said and left.

The following day they were told loads upon load of information about the basic equipment that they had been giving it. They could put it into pieces and then put it together in a minute.  They all wondered what they would learn the next day after learning there basic equipment

“Now I know that you are all wondering what we will do now huh?” Fox said wondering around the front of the room. “Well now we learn the basics of the field equipment, now you all have your OmniNode Communications Set, this will be your basic battlefield set, aside from your personal comlinks that you can acquire and figure out on your own. Now to begin I will tell you some basic info. The range of the OmniNode is 50 km and can go into low orbit…..” Fox went on and on about everything he could about the OmniNode Communications Set. Class was twice as long as usual today and everyone was overloaded with information, Rike could tell. “Now before we end for today, all the information I have gone over can be review in your datapad. Just put OmniNode info in your search and it should come up, dismissed” he said and saluted.

Rike met up with Sarah after the class let out, “Man that was rough wasn’t it” he said as he approached her smiling, it had been a while since they had had a chance to talk.

“Yeah it was” She said and stopped and kissed him on the cheek, they weren’t officially going out but it was just that unofficially. Rike smiled and blushed as they walked towards a fountain to go study on the OmniNode. After about an hour of studying Rike got a call.

“Yes?’’ Rike asked as he answered his personal 3-mal comlinks.

“Yo Rike, it Mike. Yeah me and James are going to a club tonight, you in?’ Mike responded.

“Sure, talk to you later Mike’’, He said and hung up on his friend.

He closed his books; “Well I got to go Sarah see yah tomorrow” he said and hugged her goodbye and left. He went home and studied a little more trying out the OmniNode with his other comlinks, Rike had bought so many just to try different sets and producers to find the ones that he liked. After that he changed and went to the club with Mike and James….

Over the next couple of day they learned a lot about the OmniNode. They learned how to connect it to vehicles to increase the range. How to store and clean it, how to add a few extras and tweak it for better performance and reliability. For one week they even went to a verity of course outside and did mock runs on using the com set under fire, snow, heat, etc. They had a week off to prepare themselves for the final exam.  What it would be and what it would cover they didn’t.

Rike had became close to Sarah and the two had spent almost all nights together doing something even if they were just hanging out in Rikes condo or her apartment. Mike and James were now also friends of Sarah and they also were with them a lot. But now it was the morning of the final exam and Rike knew that not all of them were going to pass the exam, for Lt. Fox would make the test be hard enough so only a few would pass and the rest would retake the course, possibly with a different teacher. They knew this because Fox had said it himself the day before in a message they had got on there datapads.

Rike woke up the morning of the exam in cold sweat, man what a scary dream I had, Rike thought. He had dreamt that he would be the only one to fail and that Sarah would hate him and Mike and James would stop talking to him. He took a shower and went to the mess hall afterwards for breakfast. There he saw Mike cramming in notes that Rike had lent him the night before, “Good Morning Mike” Rike said as he sat down and started to eat.

“Busy….Rike…..studying….for….exam….one…..hour”, he said not even looking up.

After forty five minutes Rike and Mike met up with James and walked towards the class room. They went in the class room which was abuzz with activity. Everyone was in last minute review and were comparing notes to make sure theirs were right or to ask a question. Rike and his friends sat down when he noticed Sarah walk in. Rike gave her a quick nod and smile, which of course was returned.

Lt. Fox walked in full combat gear and dragging a bag behind him, “Good day all”, he said as he put the bag down by his desk and walked to the podium. “Now first we will have the written part of your exam. This is worth 25% of it, the text books, which will be returned afterwards, are another 25% graded on their condition. The last 50% is a surprise that will be explained later on”, Fox bellowed as he passed out the tests. Rike was on his last nerve, I can’t fail, I can’t, was the only thought that popped into his mind as he thought about the dream he had last night.

He opened his test booklet and began the test. The beginning was easy, it was about the basic equipment they got the first day, okay what is the main function of the datapad given to you, well B- to keep track of dates, codes, situations, notes, and other notable things that a Communications Technician will need but not necessary remember.  He flipped to section two of the written test, hmm a whole section on the OmniNode, I studied this thing inside and out. Should be a piece of cake. Rike started it okay and then approached the third and final part of the test; it was something they hadn’t studied, reasons. It turned out to be more of a questionnaire and was still a very difficult part. They were asked questions that they never thought about. Like why is the NR the bad guys and we are we the VE the good guys? Rike had to think long and hard about that one, this was his answer; they aren’t, there is no such thing as good or evil in war, only the sides themselves. Rike knew why Kairo said he was the best teacher now, he didn’t give you the information and tell you to use it for the good of the VE he gave you the information and told you to do what you felt was right, which in Rike’s mind was the Vast Empire. Rike smiled as he finished the test, it took another hour of work for some of the others to finish theirs.

Fox collected all the tests and gave them to the droid and spoke up, “Now for the fun part, you will be sent out into the forest in a simulator that will put you in the middle of a battle. You goal is to get up the hill with the rest of your “Squad” and call down to the men on the base and tell them it’s clear to come up and then radio HQ and call for a lift”, he said with a smirk as everyone in the room looked shocked, “Oh and one more thing, if you die in the simulator you fail” he let out a laugh and looked on the screen in the front of the room, “now let’s see.. Rike you are first up come with me, the rest of you keep your datapads on you, I will contact you via that” he finished and went to the back room and gestured Rike to follow.

Rike got up slowly and followed him into the back as the others picked up their stuff and headed out.  Inside the back room Rike saw the VR chair he would sit in and a monitor computer as well as another computer of unknown purpose. “Get in boy”, Lt. Fox barked at Rike. Rike got in it and strapped in and Fox put the helm over his head and sat down at the desk…..

Inside the VR Rike saw trees everywhere and heard the bloody screams of people and creatures far off, “Rike get it together, we have to lead the assault up that hell there and signal the all clear to the rest of the men and that means you must live Rike, got it”, a man with a slight bread and looked in his forties, Must be my squad command, Rike nodded and saw that his “squad” was him and the commander and two other men, great the others must already be dead, thanks for telling  us Lt. Rike picked up his E-11 Blaster Rifle and started to walk forward towards the forest edge with his squad.

At the edge they all let out various war chants and calls as they broke into a sprint.
    “For the Vast Empire!”
    “For the Empire!”
    “Die mother fuc..”
     “Vengeance!”

Rike felt tired already, they hadn’t practiced running with the packs on and it was heavy. Can’t slow down must go forward, stop and die; forward and pass. Rike felt the heat of beams and bullets as they whizzed past him. They reached the base of the hill and hit the ground. Rike let out a grunt, dam the pack hurts when I do that, dammit. Rike brought fourth his gun which was hard with the pack pulling his arms; he let off a few ineffective shot before being called to contain the run. I know why Fox laughed now, rotten bastard why do we have to do this? Rike said as they approached and abandoned trench. They threw a fragmentation grenade in, just in case.  After the explosion they rushed in and aimed once again up the hill. This time Rike managed to hit one and kill him. Rike smiled but soon lost it when a blast went over his head, dammit Rike watch it, and there is no room for a mistake now.

They waited until the enemy up top were mostly reloading and made a charge to a pile of rubble a few hundred meters ahead of them. They all made it but the squad captain took a graze, nothing serious but it could if left untreated. Dam where is doc when you need him, Rike laughed to him quietly as the men up top unloaded another round of shots at them. This time Rike and the captain charged up to rubble just up a couple of meters forward. Man this is hard with the pack, Rike noticed. The rest of the squad provided cover fire which succeed in killing a couple.

They didn’t hear anything from the gunners on the hill and one of his squad mates stood up only to shot through many time. “Shit”, Rike called out as he pulled a grenade off his vest and threw it over the wall. He could feel it when it went off, the heat rushing over his face and he could hear screams, indicating that he had hit at least one of them.  The Captain and Rike leaned to either side and laid surprising fire as the last member of their squad moved up and they fought their way to the next rubble pile. After fighting for a few more minutes they managed to kill the rest of the enemy off and processed to the top of the hill, where Rike easy finished his goal….

Rike stretched as he got out of the simulator, “uhh…Lt. I have a question?” Rike nervously asked.

“Yes Rike?” Lt. Fox said as he finished reading the results of the simulator on the monitor.

“Well what was the point of that, we all can operate the system with ease, that wasn’t changeling to call the men and HQ…” Rike said looking at the screen trying to figure out what it meant.

Lt. Fox laughed, “That wasn’t the test Rike,” He said and laughed again.

“Huh”, Rike said confused, “What do you mean it wasn’t the test?”

“Rike, the true goal was to see if you had what it takes to actually be able to fight and follow other orders effectively even with your com gear. And guess what you pass; you are now moving onto the Communications Operations, Procedures, and Techniques course. You will learn more about what to say and not like you said, “Hey its all clear HQ objective complete” you will learn codes, keywords, military slang, and all that stuff in the next course"

Rike stepped out of the back room with a huge smile on his face………

Good. One of the better com stories I've read. Two things. 1. I edited the post so it was spaced correctly. Please don't over space it. One space between each paragraph is plenty. 2. Check for grammar and spelling. There are a couple mistakes in the whole thing, so make sure to look for those in your next story. Storywise, it was good. You wrote about everything pertaining to the Specialty and then some more with the character development. Good job
Some people say that the Emperor and the Storm Troopers are evil....well wait till I have my boot in there face and pistal at ther stomach......

(Here is my new spec, let me know if you have any issues with it)

Combat Engineer Level 1: Electrical Systems
Story 1: Basic Electronics and Wiring

Jersh walked swiftly along the corridors of the installation, his thoughts a mess in his own head. He had tried to become a Heavy Weapons Specialist, but in the end it was as he had feared. Heavy artillery and large guns were simply not his style and held very little appeal for him. Although he was not required to specialize in a certain field, he knew there were benefits to doing so. Those included mostly the higher ranking specializations… he figured he could be a decent scout if he could make it that far. He saw little to gain in a field of expertise he disliked however, and thus decided on an alternative. He had some skills with electronics, but so far as hacking into security systems and such he was clueless. He decided that to improve on this field would be a great tactical decision, as well as being far more enjoyable than blasting away at a target with heavy munitions.

Jersh sighed and slipped through the corridors as easily as a fish through water. He had studied the layout of their base extensively, and even though he was relatively new to the army, he knew his way around as well as most veterans. He passed by his squad mate Wicket just outside the door to the Combat Engineer quarters. Wicket gave him a silent nod and continued on his way past him. Jersh shrugged and placed his hand on the panel, the door did not slide open to his touch for some reason. He pressed his hand to the panel a little harder, but to no avail it seemed to be jammed. Jersh recalled the electronics books he had studied when he had decided to switch his specialization and mentally flipped through the pages of the book. It was fuzzy in his mind, but he pulled out his vibroblade in any case. With a quick spin in his fingers to check the balance of the blade, he wedged it into the edge of the panel and pried it open with caution.

A mess of wires greeted him and his eyes widened in surprise. There is no way that the panel should be this disorganized….. It had been tampered with. And whoever had done this had done an expert job of making sure nobody would be able to activate the controls to open the door. Jersh reached his fingers into the mess and ran his fingers through the various wires, feeling the slight hum and pulse of power from the live wires. As the thought, there were a number of dummy wires that someone had added to confuse anyone trying to repair it. He realized he was taking too long to come to this conclusion and his eyes scanned the colored wires, looking for something that did not quite fit. There was something that was disrupting the flow of data….. He ran his fingers along a purple cable. It was the only cable that was not of the standard color format in the standard imperial electrical systems…. But it seemed too obvious to him.

With a breath he too his vibroblade and severed the wire, along with the primary wire connecting the panel to the opening mechanism. He stripped some of the plastic covering off and hotwire the purple ends to the primary outlets. A small shock ran through his fingers and he felt his skin singe slightly, but heard a slight hiss as the door slide open. Jersh sighed in relief and was shocked to see nearly ten minutes had passed; he was late for his meeting. Jersh slide the panel back in place and stepped through the door to find a man sitting at a desk staring at him as he entered. He had his hands crossed in front of him, his chin resting on interlocked fingers. He was pale, but he had an odd aura of strength and experience about him.

“You are late” He said simply, yet his tone held no tone of scolding. It was almost as if he had expected Jersh to be late… Jersh began to get an odd feeling that the door being broken was not just coincidence. His mind flashed back to when he first neared the door to the office and the silent nod Wicket had given him. Jersh sighed that he had missed such an odd gesture… his suspicions intensified. He had a very good feeling that Wicket had been involved in this incident, but he kept his mouth shut as any trained trooper learned to do early on.

“I am sorry sir, I had some technical problems” Jersh said, and gave a small salute before clasping his hands behind his back as he had learned to do in the academy. “The door was a tad sticky” he said in an attempt at humor he did not really feel. Nor did the officer it seemed as he continued to stare at Jersh. “Corporal Jersh Everwind reporting for duty sir” He said once more to break the silence that seemed to have fallen over the room.

“At ease soldier” The officer said to him with a shrug and a small smile crossed his face. “You pass for now boy. However I expect you to not spend so much time dawdling around as to be late for our next meeting” He said in a voice that was deep and strong, one that was not suited for a mere desk job.

"Clearly you were distracted by the multitude of wires correct? What you must do to sort through them quickly is to check their connections and the pattern in which they connect. I beleive you texts cover this method repeatedly to cut down on the time needed to crack open a door. Some dummy wires can simply be located and identified due to the lack of an electric current. However that is a trick only ametuers would fall for. In a real situation it will not be as simple as by-the-book solutions. You need to hone your instincts to tell you which wires to cut, which to fuse and which to leave alone at all costs." He finished by punching a few data entries on his computer. A small data chip spat out which he set on the counter infront of Jersh and gave a small sigh. "I would suggest you find these particular materials and study them diligently"

Jersh nodded in response and saluted once more before turning on his heel and out the newly repaired door. Slipping the chip into his personal data-pad he brought up a list of more than a dozen texts and he felt a sigh course through him. Then again, he did not mind reading that much, he slipped into the Imperial Center Store and located the suggested works he was to read. Walking out with a brand new data-pad filled with information he was to study, he cracked his neck and prepared for several weeks worth of long nights.

He thought again over the surprise test that had been presented to him. He had indeed been too slow in figuring out such a simple problem. He decided he should go back to his quarters and study furiously for his next assignment, in a mission he could not afford to waste that much time. Jersh smiled at the way he was tested and nodded his head as he pictured the elderly officer again. He was going to like this new specialization, yes indeed.

Pass. You did just what I asked you to make it better. Good job Jersh. This seems to be much better suited for your character, even though it isn't "what he does." Keep up the good work.

Combat Engineer Level 1: Electrical Systems
Story 2: Electrical Systems

Jersh heard his alarm sounding and groaned softly, wishing that he could sleep just a little bit longer. He knew he could not however; it was his fault for staying up so late. He lifted his face to find it stuck to the page of an electrical engineering book he had been studying until early in the morning. Ever since his first ‘test’ he had sworn to himself to be prepared for the next time he was to meet with the Combat Engineer Specialist Officer. He had followed through on that promise with a vigor that surprised even himself. He just hoped that would be enough to meet the expectations of what he referred to as his ‘teacher’. Jersh was still sleepy eyed when he heard the door to his quarters open and a familiar laugh filled his ears.

“At it again Jersh?” Saphira asked him with that lovely smirk on her face as he closed the door behind her. Jersh had given her access to his quarters a long while ago and he enjoyed her frequent visits. She gave him strength when he had little left from his lack of sleep, as well as easing his sense of being alone in this facility. He felt his bunk shift as she sat down next to him then lay down and cuddled up next to him, her warmth spreading to his own body. “You should get going Hun. You do not want to be late for your lecture” She whispered to him, wrapping her arms around him.

“I know M’Lady” He said, her smile was infectious and soon he was grinning as well. He gave her a deep kiss, which she returned with that passion that he had fallen in love with almost instantly. He stood and slipped on his uniform quickly as Saphira attempted to somewhat tame his hair. Unfortunately, she failed to make the hair look any better than normal and gave up with a frustrated sigh and gave Jersh a kiss goodbye as he left for the office.

~_~_~_~_~ Time Lapse ~_~_~_~_~_~

Jersh cracked his neck from side to side as he sat in the lecture room with a fair number of other soldiers that wished to expand their minds in the field of technology. There was a lot of chattering occurring around the room, very little of it had to do with the subject of the lecture however. The officer he was first tested by entered the room and the noise finally quieted down, which Jersh was quite thankful for. He neared the podium and cleared his throat as he faced the class and prepared for his lecture. There was a holo-projector set up on the wall behind him and it flickered to life to show the insignia of the Vast Empire slowly rotating.

“You are all here today to learn of the various uses of Electrical Systems in the field of combat. To put it simply, it only has as many uses as your imagination can create. There are millions of situations that could arise on the battlefield where technology could make or break a mission. It is up to YOU to find the best way to resolve the situation and it is my job to help you get those lump of flesh you call brains thinking” He lectured, his voice keeping the attention of every student in the room. Jersh nodded in recognition of his skill. It was obvious to him why the higher-ups had made this man an officer in charge of lecturing younger recruits. He snapped his mind back to the present as the officer continued. “These skills will help you from something as simple as opening a locked-down blast door, to reprogramming enemy systems to suit your own needs instead of theirs. This particular maneuverer is very important to master, for it weakens your opponent and strengthens you and your allies at the same time. A soldier cannot ask for a greater blessing in the heat of a battle.”.

Jersh listened through the rest of the lecture as the officer explained various situations of what to do in certain situations and to adapt these lessons to the surroundings of a mission. The holo-projector assisted him in this task by displaying the various schematics of the devices he mentioned. Soon the class winded down towards the end and a set of data-pads were passed out amongst the students. “I expect you to have cracked open a book since the last lecture, show me what you know” was all the officer said before taking a seat and watching over the students as they took this ‘exam’. His eyes met with Jersh’s for just a moment and he gave a nod as if to encourage Jersh. With renewed confidence, Jersh set to work on the exam. He breezed through the first few problems, but they grew steadily more difficult as the test wore onward. The problems were more or less scenarios that a group may encounter on a mission through an enemy base, dealing with locked blast doors and basic security grids that had to be disabled as quickly as possible to continue onwards. Jersh snickered silently as he remembered the advice the officer had given him last time and work his own words into his answers.

Midway through he ran across a particular problem that gave him some trouble. It was about rewiring a security camera to replay a loop-feedback image that would make a corridor appear empty to the security guards as he squad travelled through enemy territory. He looked down at his answer and felt as though he were missing a critical part of the process.... but for the life of him, he could not remember what it was. With a sigh, Jersh was forced to move on to the next problem.

Jersh was soon on the final problem, gazing at the schematics for a standard turret emplacement that was bound to show up in one of his mission eventually. The problem said to find a way to neutralize the turret, which to Jersh seemed rather vague. Then he recalled the officer’s earlier words, “A soldier cannot ask for a greater blessing in battle than to turn an enemy’s weapon against them”. With a devious smile then wrote out the technical steps to rewrite the turrets programming to fire not on hostiles, but on friendly targets. With a sigh he finished and he looked around the room to find it mostly empty, the pads face down. He looked down to see a score of 89% on the test and raised his eyebrow at it. As he walked out the lecture hall he glanced at the officer who surprisingly gave him a small wink. “Much better boy” he whispered then turned his attention back to the class. Jersh kept his face a perfect blank and nodded this thanks before leaving the room and walking back towards his quarters. He hoped that Saphira was still in so they could celebrate together, with that thought he finally allowed a hint of a smile to show on his lips.

Passed. It was still a tiny bit short, but the last few paragraphs were bulky and you showed your character progressing along nicely. The bit of CD at the beginning was nice too. Hopefully as you continue with these, you'll push yourself to make them even better.

Comm. Spec/Level 1/ Story 1/ Facilities.

Blackout walked into the facility that was marked communications, he should have known after riding the speeder for a while what he was getting himself into, yet he didn't think it at the time. It was almost as if he didn't know the difference between work and play. Although that was pretty much what the army was about wasn't it?

As he walked towards the sign in area, he saw various persons working on wiring and patching up the walls What communications make holes in walls now? The fact that he didn't understand why there were holes in the wall made him even more nervous, but it was probably better that way.

“Hey, You guy with the silver hair.” Tyro spun and gave the person calling him by a description a nasty look. He hated being pointed out that he was different, at least they didn't point out his Eyes, if they would have done that he probably would have strangled her.

“Yes?” He said non nonchalantly, almost on the verge of , I am going to kill you. But he dared not say it.

“You the new recruit.” She said looking down at her desk then back up. It almost looked like she was hiding.

“If you mean me yes, if you mean the dust on the floor then... well yes.” The account didn't even look amused, that was another joke going into the stupid pile, of course it did get a lot of good reviews at his last family reunion, so it couldn't get that bad. why am I thinking about Jokes, I should be signing in. Tyro made a mental note to slap himself on the forehead latter. “Alright what do I have to do?” Blackout said as he headed towards the desk.

“Alright just hand me your datapad and i will record your files onto my comp, I will also need your trooper number.” She bobbed back under the desk and when she came back up her hair was in front of her face. The Brown started to show out. She dies her hair? Okay why am I thinking this again?

He walked faster now before he thought up any weird thoughts and handed the woman his data pad. He noted the paper weight on the desk. It said Mrs.Kilko. ,i> Odd name, THEIR I GO!!! She punched in a few more numbers and stuff then handed back his Datapad. He nodded hone looked at her as if waiting for something.

“Go through that door and head towards the door marked Commander Gihu. Once there you will find your instructor. Good luck your going to need it.' She turned her chair and headed back into the room that was just behind the desk.

Tyro just felt a little awkward, first of all he had never gone anywhere without a guide, He figured though how hard could it be to find a simple room? He was wrong.

-_-_-_-_-_-_-

It had been some time since tyro had left the sign in area, he was lost on a weaving stair case and didn't have a clue where he was supposed to go. The worse part was he was bad at directions So where in the world is the drop down map? he was excpecting to have someone come out of nowhere and hand him one on like the comedies he used to watch when he was a kid. Yet for some reason nobody came. He even tried thinking it again, ans saying it allowed. He gave up though after he realized he looked like a fool.

“Excuse me are you lost?” A man said placing his hand on Blackout's shoulder.

“Umm, yes i need to find Commander Gihu's office.” Blackout turned without even thinking about who might be talking to him. Though he found himself staring face to face with nothing... He looked down and still nothing.

“You know, with reflexes like that how can you call yourself echani.” Tyro turned to see and old looking man leaning up against the  wall. He was grinning. Tyro wasn't.

“Yea, but this isn't combat training or anything close to that.So why does it matter?” He countered, the man grinned even more. He must have been very intelligent because he wasn't going to retort, at least Blackout didn't think so.

“Fair enough. And if your looking for Commander Gihu, you found him.” Said Gihu. Tyro looked shocked, almost on the point that he didn't believe him. It didn't matter though he would understand eventually.

“I expected..”

“Someone a little younger?” Gihu countered, grinning even more.

“Yea.” Tyro felt embarrassed now, it wasn't like he talked to these people everyday.

“Well let's stop the chit chat and let's get started shall we. Also just call me Janko.” He said leading g them both into an odd room.

Blackout thought it weird that the room was bare except for a table and a closet, he expected a desk an more but it was bare except for those few things.

“Alright I don't want to talk that much anymore I am just going to help you along the way, first you need to learn to install the necessary stuff.” He went towards the closet and brought out a big box. It was about the size of the duffel bag that Tyro carried around with him on all the missions he went on. As Gihu walked over to the Table and put the box down. Tyro had to ask a question or he was going to blowup.

“I thought their would be more, I mean this being your office and all.” Tyro said, sitting down.

“It's not my office it's my training room.” He didn't even continuer the conversation, he was obviously a very serious man. He even opened the box as fast as he could so that Blackout wouldn't continue that conversation.

“alright, first you need to learn how to install it, now it's not so hard, all you have to do is program it to receive and let out information. That's the easy part as well as how to use it correctly.” Gihu handed Tyro a manual that was about the size of a an envelope. “Just read that to learn how to install it I will ask you how to the next time we meet, but at the moment we just want to learn how to use it and use it which takes up a lot of time.”

Tyro looked at the manual real quickly then looked up to see a nice little device in front of him with a wire sticking out of the end. Next to it was a another little box that looked like a datapad. “So what do I do?” He asked putting the manual down beside him.

“Alright first you need to learn how to turn it on and make it usable among a long broadcast range. First hook that wire into the datapad.” Gihu handed him the datapad. At least tyro was right about something.

Tyro hooked it up into the box and he waited for more instructions which was kinda hard for him cause he would rather be doing than waiting for instructions. But he couldn't complain cause he usually had to wait for directions.

“Alright now put in the code to set it up.” Janko handed him another book. It was labeled “Communication codes.” “Don't worry you won't need that every time you need a code eventually you will know ever single code that you need to know. Now go to the first page and read what it says. Then enter that into the datapad.”

Tyro did as he was told. The code was hard to put in since most of the numbers looked like letters and most of the letters looked like numbers but he eventually got it.”Okay, now what?” He was trying to get out of here as fast as possible considering he wanted to start learning how to install it.

“Alright now turn that switch and that switch, most of the machines however will need just the code, but it's good to know basics. Now after that enter the code on page 6 into it. That is a channel code, you don't need it if you just use the right communications equipment, because on your helmet usually it will be set up to change channels and such, though you will have to set it up.” Gihu told him as fast as he could so that they could get done, he even looked bored.

Tyro quickly flipped the switches and turned to page six. He put the code in and a green light went on. He looked up and janko grinned.

“Alright last thing. Those switches turns on the receiving and output units. Those knobs change the channel, once you enter the code, depending on the console you have. Also this is just basics but if you wneter the code on page 7 it will encrypt it so that only the people with the channel access will be able to use it.” He paused and handed Tyro another book. “Well you done now, study those books and then we will get into more advanced stuff. Good luck kid.” Janko walked away and slammed the door behind him. Tyro just stared blank eyed like life just flashed before his eyes.

“That was ... awkward.” But instead of pursuing it he just got up and left.

Passed. I'm going to assume you meant to put in the proper title for the first commtech stories. Make sure to put in the right one for the second story next time. The story was generally good, but you did have some typos and minor grammar mistakes. Try to clean those out next time before submitting it.

Combat Engineer Level 2: Fortifications and Defense
Story 1: Field Fortifications

Another lecture had passed and Jersh stayed behind again as usual. He had a notebook spread out across the desk he set at. Some considered this form on note taking as archaic, but it seemed to help Jersh focus his thoughts. For the past several meetings his teacher, who he finally learned was called ‘Skirm’, had been covering a new lesson. These lessons consisted of fortifications and how to see the use of everything surrounding you. Jersh glanced down as his notes and read over a little of what they had covered today. He noted that Skirm concentrated heavily that their own creativeness is what would save them on the battlefield.

“It is not lack of options that gets a soldier killed” He had said one class, “But the lack of imagination.” Jersh continued to read over the notes about the construction of temporary barriers. “What you need to know is that any bit of material can be used to hinder the enemy. Scraps of metal can be used to set a devious trap. Fallen walkers and downed fighters can be scavenged for the materials needed to build a shelter. Heavy metals can be used to form crude walls that will funnel your enemy into a tight space where you can blast them one by one. Overwhelming numbers mean nothing if they cannot be used all at once.” As Jersh read over these notes, he nodded in agreement at what Skirm had said. He knew much of this way true, and he had memorized the holos that were displayed as examples of what to do.

In one, there was a squad of troopers that were on the battlefield. The battle was still in full swing but many of the squad were injured and needed to receive medical care. The medic was unable to fully concentrate due to the constant threat of stray fire all around them. Then the Combat Engineer of the group left the group with a nod to the squad leader, he knew perfectly well what he was doing. He slipped up over the small crater they had taken refuge in and scanned the immediate area. There was a small contingent of enemy soldiers making their way across the field and they would soon pass in front of a downed AT-AT walker. The walker appeared to have been hit from the side, but the head still appeared intact. The computer generated combat engineer made his way to the pilot’s compartment and shoved the dead out of the seats. He bashed open the control panel and began to hotwire various circuits that still held power. He did not have much time, and looked up out the viewport to see that the squad was now directly in front of the walker. With a prayer, he hit the controls and a steady stream of blaster fire erupted from the walker’s laser turrets. The enemy contingent was decimated by the time the blasters died out, consuming the last of the power that had remained.

Skirm paused the holo at that moment and Jersh blinked. He had been taking careful note of just which wires the man had crossed and admired just how smoothly his hands had sorted them out. “This is another situation you must be aware of. Scavenging parts on the battlefield is not cakewalk. There could be enemy troops crawling everywhere, you must take every advantage that is available to you if you wish to survive. Now there may not be a situation as convenient as having a downed walker right next to you. But there could be other means of either ambushing or using a salvaged piece of equipment against the enemy. Just remember not to blow yourself up trying to repair something that appears too unstable.” With that, he let the holo continue to play and Jersh turned his attention back to the image.

The man slipped out of the cockpit and climbed along the side of the walker, prying at loose plates of armor. He found a large amount that was near the point of the blast that had downed the walker. Although the metal was scorched, he was certain that it would be able to repel blaster fire as well as the elements. With great strength and stamina befitting of a well-trained storm trooper, He hauled panel by panel to push into the crater. The holo seemed to lapse time until he had enough to work with the design he must have had in his head. His primary goal was to create a shelter that would be stable enough for them to repel a regular ground assault. Before he began however, he filled his hands with the mud of damp crater and smeared it over the metal plates he had retrieved to help them blend in with the shadows of the crater. Once the camouflage was completed, he pulled out his cutting laser and began to work.

The holo was paused again and with a few buttons, Skirm caused the image to focus in on the cutting laser. “This is the most important tool you will ever need in the construction of any obstacles or barriers. It can be used to cut even the hardest alloys to suit your needs and as well as fusing the metal pieces together to form a strong bond. You should never go on a mission without this tool; you must make it seem like second nature to have it strapped onto your belt.” Jersh nodded in agreement again as the holo began once more.

The trooper ushered the rest of his team into a corner of the crater and formed a perimeter around them. He built the wall only a few feet high so they had to lie down in order to be comfortable. A building lower to the ground would be much harder to spot from both ground troops and from the air. He used his cutting laser to weld the metal plates together, being sure to allow a generous amount of overlapping to insure it of strength. The roof was the more challenging part and by far the longest process. He had to support the metal with one hand and weld carefully with the other. Soon however, the building was complete and not a moment too soon. They heard the artillery shells exploding above them as the enemy carpet bombed the area. Loud pings came from the roof as sharp bits of shrapnel embedded themselves deep into the metal. They could see the mud outside the small hole that the engineer had left so they could move in and out of the shelter. It looked as if it were raining as the mud constantly shifted form, glinting piece of durasteel shone in the red light of further explosions. With that, the holo ended and the lights brightened one more.

“Although it is rather dramatized, this is indeed a common situation on the battlefield” Skirm said, shuffling his own papers at his podium. “I expect you all to take this lesson to heart and learn that speed in constructing you barriers and shelters are everything. There is no telling when an enemy will begin to fire their artillery.”

Jersh’s flashback of the lesson ended and he straightened his notes once more. He looked at the different thoughts he had added on the lecture for today and felt a sense of satisfaction that Skirm was somehow familiar to him. Almost as if they were of the same mindset in some ways. With a nod a Skirm he took his notes and left the classroom heading towards the simulation rooms. He had a few ideas that he wanted to try out for himself.

As Alater stared down at the vibroblade, things got a little easier. The weapon had been his project for almost a week now, and he still didn’t have the damn thing put back together. From the outside it seemed like a simple weapon, with a hilt, a blade, and a button that activated the weapon, but internally it was a complex system of electronics. The size of the vibration unit did not help Alater’s situation at all. Mounted atop his head were a pair of odd looking glasses that magnified his already good vision. As he stared down at the internal components something came to him, but it was complicated.
T
he vibro-weaponry worked on a system of massive vibration and the stabilizing unit in the hilt. As the blade vibrates at such at high speeds it can slice through most light to medium armor, and cause heavy damage to stronger armor. It also allows users with weaker strengths to be capable of stunning feats. This was all thanks to how the vibration unit caused the edge of the blade itself to vibrate, internal circuits running all the way through the edge to the hilt. This was what Alater had been studying and from raw components he had put this blade together, but it still didn’t work quite right, and this was over 50% of his class grade. Something just didn’t go back correctly, and he couldn’t figure out why.

With a growl Alater leened back and stared at the ceiling, and ran his mind through the circuits. Power to vibration systems, vibration systems to calibrator, calibrator to internal links, internal links out to edge, edge to stabilizer. It was simple on his datapad, but he couldn’t get it to work right. The problem was the damned vibration distribution, it wasn’t even and if he turned the thing on, it began to crack and shatter itself. The calibrator was working just fine, but something was wrong with the vibration distribution…vibration…

“By the Hunt!” Alater cried out as he reached back for a datapad and began to tap away with one claw, occasionaly reaching back for some blood-wine. An hour past there in the semi-dark with no sound save Alater’s occasional grunt and his claw on the screen. With a little beep Alater saved his work and turned back to the blade. It lay before him, physically as it was before, but now Alater could see it all.

“So if I recalibrate the vibration unit manually to match the settings on the calibrator I must give compensation to the stablizers…Ok.” Alater mumbled to himself as he went about his work, tweeking each little part to just the right spot. It was amazing what a changed setting and two micrometers could do to change how a weapon operated, but it worked. As Alater turned on the blade it hummed like every other vibration weapon, and that’s when Alater noticed.

They all vibrated the same

Alater swivled in his chair to stare at the spare suit of armor hanging on a rack at the back of his barracks room. As he looked at the specs on the distribution of the vibrations for the weapon, and compared them to how the stabilizers compensated in the hilt, he got an idea. Could a suit of armor really be tweeked in such a manner? If so Alater may have just made the next discovery in vibro technology, a vibroblade proof suit of armor. It would negate the effects of any vibroweapon, turning it into a regular melee weapon.

---Next day---

As Alater walked into his instructor’s office, vibroblade in hand and suit of armor dragging behind him, he grew quite a few stares. Barabels as a species were a rare site outside their homeworld, but one standing as tall as he, and of his color, was even stranger. The seventeen scars arching across his body didn’t help, not to mention the weapon and armor. Alater payed no attention, and headed straight for Sergeant William’s desk. He looked up and chuckled as Alater slapped the blade down on his desk.

“Finally finished the thing did you?” He said, looking down the brim of his glasses. Alater had taken the course three times now, failing twice.

“Yes sir, and I have something new. I think I can recalibrate this suit of armor to function as a sort of counter vibroweaponry device. Through distrubution of the vibration units throughout the suit’s power system, creatures like myself would be able to wear this suit in immunity to Vibroweaponry. This could change the Army’s outlook on the standard suit of armor." Alater said.

With a raised eyebrow Sergeant Williams looked over the specs for the suit of armor Alater had drawn up last night. When he was done he licked his lips and put the datapad down. In a sort of instructional manner he interlocked his fingers, placed his elbows on his desk and leened forward.

“This may or may not work. I’m leaving this up to you to finish. Normally I would just pass you based on your work with the vibroblade, but this is something different. If you can get this to work you will indeed have revolutionised the armor industry, but I don’t think it will work. Strokes of genius are not generally your forte and this doesn’t seem like one to me.” Williams said as he handed the datapad back.

Alater marched out of the office with his head held high, and suit of armor in tow. He would not be defeated that easily. That very afternoon he headed over to a few spare parts stores and bought what he thought he would need, and then some. The parts weren’t all that expensive, despite what he would be doing with them.

Back in the barracks, Alater went to work. First part was to disasemble the parts on the armor. The suit had its own set of power distribution systems for its various functions, so he worked from there. Peeling back the outerlayers of the armor plating, Alater began to place the nerve like wire systems along the inside of the torso. The little buggers latched on quite nicely, and didn’t cause any obvious problems. Flipping down his goggles, Alater went to the real work.

The vibrator unit was the last one to be put in, but that made for complications. Despite its small size, it really had no place to go. For now Alater settled for soddering it to one of the inside pouches. When he was done, Alater closed back up the torso, and set the armor down. Donning the pieces that fit him, Alater turned on the armor.
There was a large commotion coming from Alater’s room. The site was quite humorous, the large Barabel squirming around on the ground.

The counter vibro suit was working alright, but with some interesting side effects. It seemed neither the suit, nor Alater’s hard scales could compensate for the backlashing effect on the vibrations being so wide spread. It was nearly fifteen minutes of squirming around before he could free himself of the suit. In pure disgust he threw the thing across the room, and went back to studying diagrams of vibroblades. He had passed the class, but failed his test. Maybe someday he could get the darned thing to work.

Heavy Weapons Specialist Story 8: Weapons Emplacement

"Keep those weapons firing!" Alater roared out as he ran through the trenches. Trench warfare was one of the worst things that an army could be put through, and here he was, just to prove that he could keep the weapons of these men in the right place. As shells blasted away at their position and blaster bolts flew over their head it was Alater's job to keep everything working at peak capacity. For this he was running back and forth between the trenches dug into no-man's land and the very rear trenches of the artillery. The enemy never really stopped moving, and neither did they. As reinforcements came and new men fed into the fire people and machines had to be moved so that the line did not break.

"Move your ass private! I want that E-Web firing yesterday!" Alater screamed as he began to assemble an E-Web. The process usually took about five minutes with this new technology but in inexperienced hands it could take forever and even blow up in your face. The key part was placing it in such a manner that even a greeny like Private Davis here could hit something through the cross fire. That was really the important part, making sure you kept your enemy inbetween the fire of your men from different squads.

"Keep that generator from overheating and you'll be fine. Kill some rebel scum." Alater said as heard his CommLink begin to crackle as a voice tried to play over the encrypted channel.

"Coporal Alater, the AAMTs have got here in time and..." The voice cut out as the scream of starfighters blotted out all sound. Alater whipped his head around to try to catch site of the perpetrating ships, but only caught a slight flicker of light as an explosion came through the Comm.

"That was a squad of B-Wings and they just started hammering our position. We need those guns here and now!" Came the clipped voice over the Comm and Alater was running before the request was formally complete.

"This is Corporal Alater, Weapon Head, calling AAMT artillery leader. Halt advance and prepare for placement orders " Alater barked out over his comm as he approached the position of the AAMTs. Their two anti air cannons made them rather obvious and he knew exactly where they'd be. With a range that nearlly reached the upper layers of atmosphere and their automatic target program they were the bane of all pilots, especially slow bombers, which worked perfectly to Alater's advantage. The problem was making enough of a spread for them to be any use.

"Vehicle Crewman!" Alater called out as he got to the lead tank that had stopped in their line, cannons turned towards the battlefield. A vabrak hopped out of the main cabin of the vehicle. Short brown hair, dark eyes of green and an eerie smile somehow made Alater think of a ghost. This man had better not give him any lip. Something about him just bugged Alater.

"Vehicle Crewman Malone reporting Coporal. How can we be of assistance to the Empire?" He asked, shaking hands with the large barabel, all the while showing no fear for his own life. I suppose as they get older they remember we all serve the Empire here.

"Look, we've got to move these tanks into a 45 degree spread. B-Wings, though slow, cause a lot of damage and have a lot more manuevablity then your artillery. In order to keep our fire controlled and leave no gaps we have to space them easily within each other's firing arc. Remind your men that they need to call their targets and work together. We don't need people slipping through because two idiots fired at the same target and forgot another. I won't have loss of life for the Empire because your men can't do their jobs right. If all goes well, this battle will be wrapped up soon." Alater said, and held his hand for a map which the crewman produced quickly from an unseen pack.

"I need your tanks here, here...and her," Alater said as he pointed to a few places on the map, all at 45 degree angles and spaced nearlly a quarter mile from each other to leave nearlly a mile of overlap area of the firing arcs. The vehicle crewman nodded as he looked over the map and marked the places and the coordinates. He wrapped it up and moved back to his tank and with a call over the Comm the vehicles were on the move. Alater sighed and flexed a few muscles and started to relax when the Comm Link began to crackle again as somebody else tried to enter the encrypted channel.

"Weapons Head, we've got 4 Dx-9s that need an LZ." Came the sound of an air controller over the Comm.

"Finally!" Alater called in excitement over the Comm. "I've been waiting for these troopers all day! We've only got two in-trench landing zones but you can land the third at area T-17. A gunship blasted the crap out of one of our bunkers there, and only the roof seems to have survived. We may lose a few of them as that LZ is hot, but I think the Dx-9 can handle it. Make sure empty both of their tubes and all of their guns on their descent. If this goes correctly this should finish the battle. I need to report to the Battlefield Commander." Alater said as he ended the Comm. If they followed his directions those troopers would provide much needed bodies to climb over the trenches and with the help of the anti-air guns and E-Webs the stormtroopers should be able to infiltrate the rebel trenches and begin the long await extermination.

Passed, you got the concepts down and have enough content in it to make it interesting.

Heavy Weapons Specialist Story 9: Integrated Combined Arms Fire Placement

The blast of the DC-17M was not that great as Alater fired off another round at the target that popped up. The gun, though not as effective in its anti-armor or sniper rifle setup as rifles built for that purpose was indeed great for what Alater intended to do with it. As his squad's most advantanced Heavy Weapons Specialist it was his job to not only repair and keep up the squad's weaponry but also be familar with almost every weapon in the known galaxy. Not to mention that he was large enough to carry just about any heavy weapon the Empire could put in his hands and provide fire support for his team and squad. Today he was playing around with his favorite gun: the DC-17M. Originally designed for the Republic Commandos to give their squads more diversity, it let him do the same for his own squad.

"Coporal Alater?" The voice caused Alater to press the stop button next to his ground stand and begin to stand up. Behind him was a gruffy looking sergeant with a datapad in his hand. He held out the pad as Alater flicked the weapon up into his hands and in one swift motion moved the barrel and stock back into their original positions and slung it around his neck on the strap. The pad contained a summons.

Coporal Osted, Alater it has come to our attention that you have put your name on a waiting list for acceptance into Special Forces training. Though we do not feel you are prepared enough for that sort of assignment and training, we do however believe you will benifit from a special training program we currently have running. If you are still interested please report today at 13:15 to the S.E.R.E. preparation room. That is all.

"SERE?" Alater mumbled as he read over the report, handing the datapad back to the sergeant.

"Survival Evation Resistance Escape. You've got 15 minutes Corporal, better hustle." The sergeant said as he about faced and headed back towards wherever he came. Alater cursed under his breath and ran the rest of the way to the Weapons Specialist command building, knowing just about where he was supposed to be. Checking a small map he ticked off buildings and opened the door with seconds to spare.

Inside stood three instructors and what looked to five or six other contendors. Alater took place near the back of the room, leaning against the wall to get a good view of the rest of his new 'classmates'. They were all muscled, gruff, and all had that snake like appearance to them in the way they stood, coiled, preparing to strike. Alater knew what these men were, they were warriors like him. A few turned to eye him, a rodian amongst the group of otherwise humans took carefull notice of him, seeming to memorize every aspect of them. The three instructors shared similar qualities as the troopers. They all looked like they had seen more combat and other things then any man should ever seen and had lived to survive and tell their tale.

"Good afternoon gentleman. You are here because amongst your peers you are the best at what you do. You are specialist of countless weapons, trained in their repair, upkeep, proper usage, and even going beyond their original purpose. Your skills on and off the battlefield should never be questioned at this point. You are all names in request to undertake Special Forces training. S.E.R.E. is the most important and dangerous part of that training and today you will all partake in the most rigorous training exercise to date. Unfortunately, that meens that only one of you is going to live." The first instructor said, letting it settle in. There was a gasp or two, but then they all saw the smile on the instructor's face. He was refering to a sim.

"If any of you wish to leave, you may do so now. No record of this will be kept and only those in this room will ever know you were here." The second instructor stated, looking at each candidate. There was no movement in the room. Amongst these men just knowing that one of their own had bowed out would be enough shame to last them a life time. None of them would back down now.

"Very well. I shall now begin to explain the course process." The first instuctor said, giving a last look at the candidates.

"You will all be placed randomly with a weapon of your choice in the midst of enemy territory. The patrols are random, few, small in number and should not be your main concern. The one and only objective is to remain uncaptured and eliminated your fellows. The enemy's status is unknown, but we believe them to number in the twenties with access to a small tank. If captured you are no longer our concern. From this point on the Empire will not acknowledge your existance unless you are the sole survivor of this exercise. We will not be monitoring your progress, but you will each be equipped with a flare for evacuation when the exercise is complete. The jungle is not large and darkness will set soon so I suggest you all run off to your barracks and return shortly. The transport shuttle leaves at 15:00. Dismissed." The instructor finished, saluting the room. When he had returned the salute, Alater headed towards the barracks. He had plenty of time to return to the barracks and prepare himself before returning to the Sim room a few minutes early. He sat down in his chair, hooked up to the machine, and waited for the course to begin. As the others began to file into the room and hook up, the clock approached the deadline and the world went black as the sim started.

Alater awoke on a shuttle, and strapped in with the rest of his contendors. Half way through he was blindfolded and had to wait out the rest of the trip. He could feel the shuttle slowing down and prepare for a landing. Soon he was loaded into some sort of transport craft and told that he was near his departure point. When a beep of a datapad went off, Alater removed his blindfold. Large trees sorounded him as he stared up from the floor. Just like home, Alater thought with a smile on his toothy face. Immediantly he began to climb a tree and gained a rather nice vantage point. Darkness was to fall here in a few minutes and it was then that Alater would begin to move. From what he could tell the forest was indeed small and he could see where the treeline began to dim and die out into some sort of plains.

As Alater waited for nightfall he accustomed himself to the sounds of the forest. The natural calls of animals and trees filled his head as he listened. Suddenly, they went deadly silent in his head as Alater tuned them out, listening for something unnatural. Apparently somebody had begun to move before darkness. The fool. Alater silently and swiftly assembled his DC-17M into sniper mode, turning the gas output up for enhanced noise cancellation; he didn't want to attract unwanted visitors. The fool bellow was indeed one of his targets, a young man with broad shoulders that seemed to be carrying some sort of heavy rifle. It almost resembled an E-Web. He was nearlly silent as he moved about, but it was to no avail. Alater already had him in his sites, the problem was he couldn't get a clear shot. The man kept moving between trees, farther and farther away and soon he would be out of range. He needed a distraction.

CRACK

The sound of a powerfull rifle sounded through the forest and Alater's target stopped to stare off into the direction of the gunshot and that was all he needed. With the slightest depression of the trigger Alater fired off a bolt that caught the man in the throat. Without so much as a scream he dropped to the ground. One, maybe two down. Four to go. Alater turned towards the sound of the fire to be met with three more shots from the same source, all cracking through the air. What Alater found in his sites was at first just a dead body, another of the targets with his head nearly torn off from what seemed to be a slugthrower. As he readjusted his sites he saw the full extent of the battlefield. A squad of seven or eight men was firing in random directions as they slowly were picked off by a sniper hiding in the bushes, but Alater saw something else. Sneaking up behind him was the smallest of the six, a vibroknife in his hand. Alater nearly chuckled as the little fool undid them both. He dispatched the sniper, but not quick enough to prevent a scream. The squad then turned on the little man and opened fire on the twitching body of the sniper and the much suprised ninja.

A large explosion tore through the group as a rocket soared past Alater's postion. Quickly he turned to see a man standing in a tree with a missile launched strapped to his shoulder, reloading the device. With a quick curse Alater hopped from the tree and moved, he may have been spotted. Soon the resounding sound of a tank blast filled his ears. Shifting his eyesite to infared, he caught site of a tank rolling towards him, firing at the now running man. With sure hands Alater changed the weapon from its sniper position to its anti-vehicle mode. Hopping from a tree Alater rolled and dispatched two shells into the tank, tearing a hole into its hull. With a quick frag grenade, the tank was dispatched. Two left.

The last two he had seen nor heard of, but he knew they were near. Sniping was no longer much of an option, but he could always switch quickly. An hour passed, two, as Alater waited for some tell tale sign or scent of the remaining two, but something soon interupted his search; a flare. One of the other contestants had sent up their flare, great. An explosion followed as a grenade was set off and Alater set off running, switching quickly to regular fire mode as he slid into a clearing. The remaining two targets were firing at each other, one badly injured and the other throwing grenades. Alater dropped quickly to a knee to change his weapon to anti-vehicle mode. The high explosive heads were good for more than tanks. They worked well on trees. Alater dispatched one of his two remaining shells into the tree behind which one of the targets was hiding killing him instantly. The resulting explosion caused the tree to collapse, crushing the last target. With slow hands Alater fired off his flare, waiting for the transport to arrive and find him the last alive. Alater leaned against a tree to take a well deserved nap.

There we go, changes made it more realistic, thanks for that.  Well written both ways, passed. Now onto the fun stuff.

"It's almost time." Alater thought to himself as he walked out of the barracks, a large weaponry droid following behind him with a hovercart containing a crate. Inside this crate were several weapons, all of which he had been given to study well. If he passed this class he would advance towards his certification exams; those were going to take forever. He was a Heavy Weapons Specialist though, from the smallest blaster to the largest cannon, he had to know ho to operate it and at maximum efficiency for the sake of his squad mate's lives and his own. This was his mission right now, to be the best he could be when it came to the weapons of the Empire and else where in the galaxy. Failure was never an option.

As always his class was in the same bleak building, following the path he had walked probably one hundred times by now. Finding his classroom, he walked towards the back and sat down. Around him was one or two familar faces, people he had seen before in his courses, but nobody he could call a friend. The instructors by now all seemed to look the same, some tall and some short, but they all shared that same half bored look that designated them as a person that had seen more glorious days then teaching men that would probably die within the next year or two. That was life in the Army.

"Alright, let's get this done and over with." The instructor said, turning to his datapad.

"As you all know, today is your final examination. You have all been given ample time to prepare for this and even been given a short list of weapons and armaments that we will be testing you over. The following will be the subject matter of your concise yet final test: DC-15 Blaster Pistol, SR Combat Pistol, E-11 Blaster Rifle, and the Adjudicator Hold-Out Slugthrower Pistol. You should not find this test too difficult. I will pass out your tests momentarilly and you may begin your exam. Good luck." Voiced the instructor as he began to weave across the room, dropping random test sheets on desks. As he did he collected the boxes of weaponry and stacked them in a corner. When Alater recieved his he removed the seal with a claw and began.

1. List the maker, main user profile, range, ammunition type, weapon type, and magazine size for each of the following weapons: DC-15 Blaster Pistol, SR Combat Pistol, E-11 Blaster Rifle, and Adjudicator Hold-Out Slugthrower Pistol.

Alater thought about it for a minute before he began to write, his good memory serving him well as always.

The DC-15 Blaster pistol was made by BlasTech Industries. They were the standard side arm of special forces units in the Army of the Republic, especially the Republic Commandos. It has a medium range for a blaster pistol, about 40m with good accuracy. Using a unique self-charging dynamic energy cell, the DC-15 charges its energy from the sorounding atmosphere. The DC-15 is a Blaster Pistol and holds a nearly infinite magazine though it must have its tibanna gas reserves changed ever one thousand shots.

The SR Combat Pistol is a Blaster Pistol made by SoroSuub. The weapon was mainly used by pilots and vehicle crewman of the Imperial Army. It sacrificed range and firepower for a lighter weight and smaller size. It fires a standard blaster bolt, holds a magazine of one hundred and twenty shots, and has a range of 25m.

The E-11 Blaster rifle is made by BlasTech Industries. They are the basic and standard firearm for the Imperial armed forces. With good accuracy and a punching power the E-11 has maintained its position as the best and most reliable weapon on a mass scale for the Imperial forces. It is a standard Blaster Rifle. It holds a magazine of one hundred bolts and has a range varying with settings. It also contains a collapsable stock and x2 scope.

The Adjudicator Hold-Out Slughthrower Pistol was made by Czerka industries and is your standard slug throwing pistol. It is weilded by those that wish to kill only one or two people and escape quickly, usually leaving the cheap weapon behind. It requires little in the way of maintance and only carries a magazine of four shots. Its range varies on the skill of the user.

2. Explain the difference between a Blaster Pistol and a Slugthrower Pistol.

A Blaster Pistol uses tibanna gas to charge and expel a Blaster Bolt from the pistol, while a Slugthrower used an explosive chemical to fire a solid projectile ("slug") at high velocity. The Blaster Pistol along with blaster technology originally outstretched the more primitive slugthrower weaponry as they caused much higher damage. The armor genres then began to change to deflect blasterbolts, and the effectiveness of slugthrowers rose as they could shred through the new, lighter armor easily.

The test continued for almost a hour. Every aspect of the weaponry was covered, from the finer points of their firing machisms to the origin of the weapon itself. Alater felt he did well as he checked over his answers again. They all looked quite satisfactory to himself and none of the problems had given him any trouble, and feeling quite full of himself he handed his test into the instructor, a toothy grin on his face.

"Very well Corporal, you are dismissed. Good luck and your results shall be messaged to you along with a final grade for this class. I hope you did well." The instructor stated as Alater turned to march from the class, finally done.

Spotted a few minor spelling errors, otner than that good work, and Passed, Qualification Exams are next. We already talked about those.

Heavy Weapons Specialist Qualifcation Exam, Light Squad Support Weapons Certification Exam

Trooper Choice: A280 Armor Piercing Blaster
Squad Leader's Choice: E-11m (Sharpshooter)
Specialty Coordinator's Choice: T-27A2 Riot Suppresion Rifle

Alater had been waiting a long time for today. Today was the day he began his qualification exams as a Heavy Weapons Specialist, and when all was said and done he would be recognized as one of the walking arsenals belonging to the Empire. He would officially become a mobile death machine. Alater smiled as his little extravagance on his position. He knew that nothing was really special about finishing his training as he felt confident with the weapons all around him. Today he was to report to the firing range to demonstrate his ability with a light squad support weapon. With a grin on his face Alater jogged to the field.

When he arrived he was directed to were five or so troopers were standing around in a circle and shortly an instructor arrived and took a head count with what seemed to be a permanent frown on his face. He held a datapad in his hand and a rifle in the other as he tapped a few commands out on the computer. Turning back to the troopers he hoisted the rifle for all to see.

"This, is the A280. It is a Armor-piercing heavy blaster rifle. As you all atempt to qualify with light squad support weaponry you will each be given a series of range tests and manual tests to see if you are familar with these basic weapons. Today, we start with the A280. It's not a complicated weapon of any sort and its function is rather obvious; to take down armored units. If you will all move over to the first range here, we will start you off with weapon familarity." The instructor motioned with his hand and barked a command and the troopers, including Alater, moved to the first range.

A short officer holding an A280 stood next to an entire rack of the weapons. He smiled at the troopers and flashed them a salute before taking up his weapon, holding it in an unusual way.

"The A280 comes with an extendable stock, a standard 100 round clip, and a removable scope. Along with several option attachments these make the A280 a very reliable weapon for its purpose. What purpose you ask? That is the picking off of units, particullarly those well armored, that are advancing or in combat with your squad. The scope allows for accuracy while the rapid fire option allows for a wide spread of fire. As you are all presumed to be expert marksman, I will not explain to you the basics any more of this weapon. Let's move on." With this the instructor turned to two more racks, the first looking oddly familar.

"This is the E-11m, sniper rifle variant. Combined with a longer stock than your standard E-11, and a few other power cell adjustments this rifle is made specificly for those of you in your squad with sniper rifle preferences that do not want the power, weight, or slow firing rate of a standard sniper. It is as easy to handle as your standard E-11 but has an enhanced range and an added scope. Moving on." The instructor said, gliding over to the third rack filled with slightly larger guns.

"These, are T-27A2 Riot Suppresion Rifles. Though they are larger then the majority of your standard rifles and weigh a bit more, they have enhanced spread and firepower. Despite their name they are rarely used for their named purpose and work well to give spread fire cover for your team at a moment's notice. They are also equipped with a grenade launcher on the underside of the barrel. Though they can be set to stun, and the grenade launcher loaded with gas or smoke, the effectiveness of the weapon is seriously reduced in such a case. These are the three weapons you will be qualifying with today, good luck. Please move on to the second range." The instructor nodded towards a second range next to his where a man was waiting with a rack of A280s.

"Good evening troopers. Part of your qualification exam today with these weapons will be a multi-part range test with the A280. Each of you is to take a weapon, presume a stance preferable for multi-range firing and prepare yourselfs for further instructions." The instructor bellowed out.

The troopers all moved forward, inspecting a rifle before and after choosing it. They disasembled the weapons, and put them back together again, including Alater. He made sure to check his weapon thoroughly, especially on a small scale with his fine eyes. When he as satisfied with the weapon's condition he assumed a crouching position in his spot. When the rest of the troopers were ready the instructor began again.

"Very good. There are three parts to this range: ranged target fire, moving target fire, and selective fire. In each you will be graded on a hit/miss bases rather than a timed one, though there is a limit on the time you can use for each part and a minimum number of targets. When I see that you are all ready we will begin. There will be no stopping, so be prepared for each and every target. The one hundred round clip in the A280 should be more then sufficient for this. You will then hear a buzzer and you will switch out your A280s for an E-11m. These you will use for the selective targetting portion. We will begin shortly." The instructor said and stepped behind the yellow safety line. Momentarily a loud buzz sounded and targets began to pop up.

Alater watched his scope carefully, picking down targets as they appeared. The range varied with each target, moving up to one hundred yards away, the very edge of the weapons effectiveness. The blaster bolts flew down range as the targets continued to appear and then they started to move, side to side in random patterns. At first this caused a little confusion but sites were readjusted and all was good. The targets then began to move in random circular patterns causing range calculations to become difficult. Alater refrained from 'cheating' and using his special eyes but that didn't stop him from knocking down target after target. Just as he began to wonder if this would ever end a buzzer rang out and Alater immediantly switched his weapon's safety on and waited for the all clear call. When they were called back to the rack they all returned their A280s and went around to the back of the rack to pick up an E-11m.

They all returned to their previous posts and Alater lay down on the ground, extending the small bipod on the rifle. Though the range was bound to not be as long as the ranged section, the targets would be moving up and down fast and he would have to quickly make decisions as to which to shoot and he had not time to worry about his aim. The buzzer sounded and targets began to pop up. A few chuckles came down the line as the first targets popped up: white signs with the words REBEL SCUM! written on them were the first to be knocked down. Cut outs of troopers and officers also appeared, a few of the latter being brought down as they had certain names written on them as well. All in all it was fairly easy and the buzzer rang soon, followed by the call of all clear. Their weapons were returned to the racks and they headed off to the third and final test.

The last instructor awaited them in the same manner as the other two; with a rack of weaponry. He smiled and waved them all over. They all gathered around as he explained his course.

"As you may or may not have noticed, this course is a little different then normal. The T-27A2 Riot Suppresion Rifle is handled in a much different manner than the A280 or the E-11m. It is best suited for downing a mass of targets and is even equipped with a grenade launcher. Today you will be testing in a rather simple exercise that should not take very long. Down range you will notice a bunker looking in rather bad shape. Several simulated rebels are going to be attempting to advance from this bunker. It is your job to cut down the ones that have escaped and then fire your grenade into the bunker, killing the remaining rebels. That's all really. Grab your weapons and let's go. Corporal, you're up first." The instructor said, nodding to Alater.

Alater walked over to the rack of T-27A2 Riot Suppresion Rifles and grabbed one that looked well maintained. Quickly he disasembled it and checked its individual parts quickly. When satisifed he reasembled it, all within a minute. The then took a ready stance and called out 'fire down range!'. A buzzer sound and the targets began to pop up and move towards him at an advanced pace. The were just cut outs like before, though this time painted. Alater immediantly began to fire, the increased rate of fire of the weapon let him cut down many 'rebels' very quickly. When the ones outside the bunker were cut down the door to the bunker slid open and Alater immediantly fired a well placed grenade inside and smiled as the remaining figures inside exploded. He immediantly safetied his weapons and waited for the all clear call.

"Very good Corporal, you pass. Please check your weapon back on the rack and wait for the rest of the troopers to finish." The instructor said before turning to another trooper.

Passed, well written with a few repetitive spelling errors.  Try to watch for those.  "immediantly" for example.   Good work.
