  Endings and Beginnings (Eclipse Squad)

With a grunt, Kairo left his office and headed toward the Jester briefing room. So much had happened in just a few short hours. After Jester's return from Atzerri, Kairo received the news of the heavy losses it sustained. The Army was running low on recruits, and Jester was also losing another member, Red Sand. Along with this, Atzerri had been a heavy toll for Jester, exacting a few of its members' lives during the mission. Knowing that none of this was in his control frustrated Kairo immensely. It had taken time and effort to put Storm platoon back into shape when he received it, and now was a time to see if it could withstand a blow in leadership and body.

Throwing a vehement glance at a technician who walked a bit too closely, Kairo walked on with a small satisfied smile. At least I can still scare the techs. Pulling out his datapad, he checked the names of the members he was going to transfer to a new squad. Reading through their personal backgrounds, he decided they would suffice. They would need a little breaking, but that was another reason he called a meeting for this new squad.

A few minutes later, Kairo had arrived at the briefing room. Stepping inside, he found everyone already there. A few people wore sad faces. Garet had an unreadable expression on his face, while Kairo could clearly read the excitement on the new recruit's face. Must not realize yet that the Army is going to take his good years and give him only pain and bad memories in the end. As he walked around the table, Kairo checked to make sure he had everything. That's not entirely true. Some people come out very well and happy. A voice in the back of Kairo's mind replied.

Shrugging the thoughts off, Kairo dropped into his chair and announced to the room, "I am glad that you have all made it here. As most of you know, Jester squad has lost quite a few members over the past few days. Due to these circumstances, I have been forced to come to a quick solution. The Empire is restless. Things are happening everywhere, and it is only a matter of time before we get sent out for a real mission-one that none of us may come back from. Time is against us, so I have come to a quick decision, which is not to say an unwise one. I have officially closed down Jester squad and moved some of its members to a squad just created, Eclipse Squad." Kairo paused a moment for the squad to give their congratulations to their new leader, along with their mocked surprise.

Once the room was mostly silent, Kairo began again. "Now, due to all of this switching around of leadership and new blood being added, I have decided to run a short simulation with you. This is to keep you older members in shape and ready for action and also unify the squad. Do any of you have questions so far?"

The room went completely silent. "Guess not. Ok then, here is what your mission is going to be. The Army has been mobilized against the planet Corellia. Yes, I realize that this is completely unlikely to happen any time soon or maybe even ever, but it should provide some fun. Anyways, the New Republic has sent a defending force, and the two armies are about to meet on the battlefield. Eclipse squad has been sent to recon the east side of the city for its defenses and also sabotage anything they can at the same time. The battlefield is going to be a main city on the planet. The city is completely fictional. This is so I could program in the terrain and any defenses I wanted.

"Besides the NR army, the local Corellian militia will be aiding them. The simulation will start at dusk a kilometer from the city. We are to move out once it is dark. The only defense we know about is a twenty meter tall wall that surrounds the city. We only have six ours to complete our objective. So, do any of you have questions about this?"

"What is our equipment?" Garet asked. "And who is leading this, you or me?"

"Good questions. First, your equipment will be this squad's standard equipment. Each of you will have a set of AV-1S Scout Armor, a Stromtrooper II Carbine, and a Q2s5 Hold-out Blaster Pistol.  Since this is a supposed assault, the army would only be able to equipment with limited supplies. You will be given the option to simulate one personal weapon. Also, yes I know that armor has some nifty gadgets, but this squad's set has been reduced a little in special equipment. This was due to cost. First, they won't have repulsor lifts installed. Also, the life support has been removed, and the strength enhancement has been reduced. Everything else is still the same. Oh, and you better like the armor, I had to pay some of my own money for them.

"As for leadership, you will be the one giving the orders Garet. I will be playing along as a member of the squad. This is for two reasons. One, I already know the defenses and what might happen. Two, you are the Squad leader of this squad, so they should learn to take orders from you." Kairo looked around the room to give emphasis to his statement. "Anyone else? . . . Guess not. Alright then. You have two hours to get situated then meet me in simulation room five. You are dismissed." The room broke out in noise as everyone stood up and began discussing what this was going to be like.

When almost everyone was out of the room, Garet pulled Kairo to the side and asked, "You sure you want me to be the squad leader?"

"I trust you more than a lot of the people in this army Garet. I have faith that you won't disappoint me. Now make sure your squad doesn't waste the little time they have to prepare for this." Kairo replied.

"Right," Garet said and left the room.

"Here I go again," Kairo whispered as he turned off the light.

(OOC Alright then. Here it is. I chose to do a simulation mostly because I can then choose to end it any time I want. Meaning if CH9 starts, I can end this freely. I want everyone to try to get a post out about what they do in those two hours and then getting to the simulation room by the end of tomorrow night. Let's get to this and prove Eclipse deserves a place in the army. Oh, and I kind of rushed it a little, so that's why it's a short beginning and there may be a few errors. Just forgive those little things if there are any.)

Phenix had just barely had time to calm down after returning from Azterri, when things began to get confusing. He had heard only hours after returning to base that Garet was temporarily on leave. Thanks for telling me, was all Phenix thought about it. Oh well, his business is his own.

Having a lot of time to think to himself, Phenix reflected upon the close of his last squad, and his placement in Wraith. Barely a day into the squad, Kairo approached Phenix with startling news.

"With your agreement, we can place you in another squad that has just been formed. The only reason I ask you, is you will have the opportunity to work with several aquaintances," Kairo said with a half-smile.

Later that day, a meeting was announced to introduce the new squad...Eclipse.

-----    -----    -----

After leaving the meeting, Phenix felt like he hadn't since before the Azterri mission. With Garet in the lead, Phenix felt like a true team again, especially since he had worked with RK before. Excited to show the newer soldiers a thing or two, Phenix decided to go get prepared for this virtual training mission.

He hadn't done his routine exercise in a while, and Phenix felt like getting pumped. Heading down to the training area, he decided an easy workout was a good way to burn the first hour.

And then, Phenix decided, I want to talk to Garet...

Darin woke from the Jester barracks, only to see a note on his bed. "Notice of Transfer" it read. That was strange, he had only been placed in Jester a few days ago, apparently while the rest of the squad was on a mission, so Darin had taken to looking around the barracks and seeing what he could learn, which admittedly wasn't much. The real surprise though, was that the note was written and signed personally by Gunnery Sarge Kairo, the leader of the entire platoon.

Darin got up and got dressed as normal, though he was now brimming with excitement. He was being transferred, and requested by the platoon leader to boot. Darin took a cursory glance at the other bunks to see if any others had been transferred with him. Nothing.

Darin strode down the hall to the briefing room. One of his activities in the squad's absence had been to become familiar with the facility. When he arrived, he saw another man already there, the gunnery sargeant insignia on his sleeves. Abruptly Darin gave a sharp salute. Not sure whether or not he should introduce himself or not, or give a salute, he followed the age old custom of, when in doubt whip it out. Delivering a sharp salute, just like he'd been trained, Darin sat down.

After a while, others began to arrive, a whole squad's worth of people. Ten more minutes, and a second gunny sarge entered the room, and introduced himself as Gunnery Sargeant Kairo. Darin smiled. So this was the leader of his platoon. He listened with eager silence to the briefing, and when he was dismissed, he went to meet the man, only to see him already speaking to the other gunny. Darin waited patiently for their conversation to end, when he saw another soldier heading over, apparently for the same purpose.

(I'm going to apologize in advance in case my hologram part is completely incorrect or technically shouldn't exist in that time period or something. Post Battle-of-Endor stories and technology are not my areas of expertise)

Killigon stepped into the Jester Briefing room, wondering why he, obviously not a Jester soldier, was told to come here. That question was answered as troopers entered the room, discussing about the formation of a new squad.
"And that's why I'm here I assume?" he questioned the man sitting next to him.
"Guess so." came the unsatisfying reply.
Killigon released a smile just as Kairo came through the door. Feeling the man's eyes lay on him Killigon felt stupid all of the sudden. Then again, Klatooinians aren't exactly known for their smiles.
* * *

Walking out into the hallway Killigon thought about the short speech Kairo had given. Eclipse, Eclipse, hmm  I like the sound of that. But what about Corellia? Never heard of it. I'll check it out in that Planet guide I brought. He finally realized that he was standing in front of his bunk. He picked up a small Projector and pressed the side of it. A blue hologram of Hoth appeared. Pressing another button several planets appeared but were replaced by others milliseconds after they appeared. He stopped on a planet, rewound some more and found Corellia.

"Corellia is the capital planet of the Corellian sector. It orbits the sun Correl and has one moon, Gus Talon. It is mainly a rural planet with hills, seas, forests and mountains. Rural communities and villages make up most of Urban Development, though large cities are present, such as Cornet and Kor Vella. Its native species are Humans, Selonians and The Drall. Immigrated species include Zabraks, Aqualish, Gran, Twi'leks, and Caamasi. Historians belie-"

Killigon turned it off and dropped it onto his bunk. Thinking about what he heard, he dozed off on the hard, cold, excuse for a bunk.
* * *

Killigon rushed through the halls, avoiding obstacles he best he could. He looked down at the white armor secured around his body. He threw on the Helmet in his hands, only to realize it didn't fit. His Klatooinian head was too big for the helmet! Great, first day of the squad and My Bloody Armor doesn't fit! Killigon looked at his watch. all right, I got& 45, 21, carry the 2& 60 seconds! Killigon entered the Simulation room practically panting. He saluted. To no one he realized. wait, 45, 21, carry the... 60 Minutes? Great. I'm early. Oh well, guess I'll try to get a helmet or something. Killigon exited the room and headed in arandom direcion, not to sure what to do in his Hour left.

RK stepped out of the briefing room, fear and excitement filled him. Jester had closed, and with that a new beginning had started...Eclipse squad. He had no problem with this, other than the fact he kept being moved around, first Raiders, then here. It's not so bad, at least I am working along some old Jester's.
RK made the journey towards his room, fear lingered the hall ways, he could tell that the new squad members were tense, he couldn't quite figure out why, it was just a simulation. A couple troopers stopped and asked directions, a few even talked among themselves, trying to figure out a way they could get out of this.
RK finally got to his room, throwing himself on the bed, he looked around. It's been a long time since I've been in here. Everything was clean, and in the same place as he left it, except for a letter that was placed on the nightstand. With anticipation he read it:

    Ryan,

I heard you got back from Atzerri, I can't wait to see you again. I just moved into my new
Apartment and am waiting to see if I got my Job. I hope to see you again.

                                                                              Love,
                                                                                        Rachel

RK set the note on his nightstand. The picture of him and Rachel was a image he could never remove from his mind. I miss you to.

After getting his gear together, RK headed toward the simulator t
oom, he still had about 30 minutes to prepare, but he didn't want to be late. Plus the excitement of working alongside some of his old squad mates made him move faster.
When he finally got there he was shocked to see that Killigon was already there. might be a nice time to introduce myself. RK headed in the direction that Killigon was standing.
"Hi, I'm Lance Corporal Ryan Kenobi."
"Private First Class Killigon, glad to meet you."
After the introduction, Killigon headed towards the Exit. Wonder where he's going? RK just shrugged the thought off, and waited for the rest to get there.

Riqimo anxiously left his bunk in the barracks when he received his squad assignment.  New to the Corps, he was unsure where the briefing room was, but with the help of a protocol droid, soon found the door.

Well this is it he thought.

Opening the door, Riqimo greeted the other members.  When he learned that Eclipse was a new squad, his heart raced, the squad was born with him into the corps.  A sensational feeling ran over him, he was connected to this squad in ways he never could imagine.  Life must be making up to him for his past mishaps.

"You alright?" asked Kario.

"Yeah, I'm just overwhelmed," replied Riqimo

"Well you'll want to get over it before we see some action, it'll give you a clearer head."

"Yes, sir"

Riqimo almost skipped back to the barracks for some rest.
My squad, I can't believe it.  I have been accepted...  I now have a true family that cares for me.
One that won't leave me on an asteroid...

After resting for an hour, Riqimo headed to the simulator room and quickly reviewed the simulator situation displayed on the screen, apparently the simulator was to be an interesting fight.  A canyon maze was set as the terrain.  Riqimo thought Great, I can show off my stealth skills on the first day

While waiting for the others to get here, Riqimo chatted with Ryan Kenobi, trying to avoid some of Ryan's questions about his past by simply stating that he was a smuggler

I am still scarred by some events, give me time and I might share thought Riqimo

Jag was happy to go into a reconnaissance squad especially the fact that it was just opened. But he couldn't shake the emptiness in the back of his head. He knew it had something to do with his brother.... He found his way to the jester briefing room and after the speech made by Kairo he knew what it was. His brother was assigned to a brand new squadron and that made a cold chill run down his back...

He wasn't exactly impressed with the cutbacks to the equipment, but he was pleased that Kairo cared enough to use his personal ICs. After he left the briefing room he got suited up and decided he'd take his DC-17M as his personal weapon.

On his way to the briefing room he saw somebody run out looking confused and recognised him as someone from the briefing room. He decided to let it go and walked into the simulation room.

He realised that he wasn't the only one that was early for the simulation. He introduced himself to the others looked at the map of the terrain and discussed tactics with them.

After a while he thought that maybe his brothers luck wasn't the same as his. I mean after all he escaped coruscant but his brother didn't...

Killigon walked out of a dimly lit room and clipped his E-11 Blaster rifle to his waist. He yawned and slowly made his way to Simulation room five. Attempting once more to fit his helmet onto his head he heard a cracking sound and dropped his helmet. A thin crack went from the top of the helmet to the visor. He kicked it angrily, causing it to shoot down the hallway. It collided with the wall and splintered into several large pieces. Great, first day and I've already destroyed Military property. He thought. He picked up a piece of his helmet and couldn't resist a chuckle.

Still holding what used to be his helmet, he entered the Simulation room to find three soldiers already there. all right, I know Ryan, but who are the other two?

"I'm First class Private Killigon. And you are?"

"Jag Fel, same rank."

"And You?"
"Riqimo, same rank."

"Good to meet you both. So this is the area we're working with?"

"Yeah." came Jag's reply.

"So, find any thing to sabotage yet?"Killigon asked, now eagerly awaiting the Simulation to begin. He dropped his helmet chunks onto the floor as tactics were discussed.

"How many of them are there do you think? I'm guessing around twenty to eighty. Never been a good guesser. What do you guys think?" Killigon asked.

Jag Fel stood staring at the map of the city and the wall. He thought that with a small amount of explosives they could breach the wall split up and hit the primary military targets like the ammunition dumps and barracks. The only problem was that for him it was too obvious.

He asked the others what they thought and it was the same thing. He told them that he thought it was a bad idea because they all suggested it.

Then an idea hit him. "Why don't we use diversionary tactics. we split up into two group. One to blow a hole in the wall. The other slip through the east gate and hit any military targets they can find and get out before the others retreat."

In the silence Killigon suggested, "Our squad leader is Garet let him decide."

Riqimo was lstening intensely, wondering if an outright approach is a good idea.

I hope they don't think I'm being reckless here, but I do have the skills he thought

"What if I were to scale the wall, and ambush a small patrol and get some uniforms, get back over the wall and we all go into the gate unhindered?  Since I am pretty fluent in Old Corellian I should be able get us through without trouble.  If there aren't enough uniforms then some of us will have to pretend to be prisioners."

The rest of the squad reflected upon this.

"Are you sure you can scale the wall undetected?" asked Killigon.

"Absolutely, I've got some climbing gear and I was a smuggler before I came here, I can probably get three or four uniforms easily someone were to come with me. We would both need to be in civilian garb.  I'll just need to bring some darts along, so the uniforms won't get any blood on them," replied Riqimo.

"Well repeat that to Garet, maybe he will think of it as a viable option," suggested Jag Fel.

"Of course," Riqimo replied, "however I still need someone to get in with me,.. what happened to your helmet?"

"Oh, I just think it was too small for my head," replied Killigon

Riqimo couldn't resist a laugh, "So you head got a little bigger since they fitted your helment?"

Garet lurched up in a a cold sweat, haunted by the nightmares of the academy once again. He rubbed his face and looked around. He was in a medical room, but he didn't know how he got there. There were a couple IVs in him, which he quickly pulled out, and a bottle of pills on a table next to him. The door was shut, so Garet took the opportunity to look around. The medical record at the end of his bed immediately drew his attention. He flipped a couple pages to find out exactly what was going.

Patient came in unconscious. Had to remove his armor. Deep trauma to left arm. Found unhealthy levels of painkillers in his system. Results from lab show chemical reaction from the mixing of two different pain killers. Look for symptoms of shock, hallucination, and mood swings.

Garet tossed the clipboard on the bed. He felt like he had been sleeping for days. The familiar grogginess accompanying a fully rested feeling. Then, out of the blue literally from out of a bag that had been unseen sitting by the door came a high pitched beeping noise. Garet wheeled around and stuck his hand in, reaching for the source.

He pulled out a datapad with its screen flashing "message". Quickly annoyed by the high pitched sound, he opened the mail.

Clothes in the bag. Meeting in the Jester Briefing Room in half an hour. Get yourself out of there, we need to get things rolling.
-Kairo

With an opportunity to escape, Garet hastily changed and grabbed the pills. Dressed in his formal clothes, he made his way out of the medical center, waving his pills at an attendee who tried to stop him from leaving. Hope my insurance covers this.
--

Not much had changed in the Jester briefing room, though it felt like it did. The lights seemed dimmer, the room felt more claustrophobic... The whole barracks seemed different. The air was much less vibrant than when Jester left for Atzerri. Garet shrugged the feeling off, diagnosing himself as "unhealthy in the head" to make proper judgments at the moment.

Soon after Garet had settled in, the first of the soldiers emerged through the doorway. He was surprised to see someone he didn't know. The green looked a little confused as he went into a salute. Garet just stared him down until he took the hint to sit. Other faces shuffled in, some old, most new. Something's not right. Finally, Kairo came in and prepared to address the group. Garet started spacing out, following shadows on the wall that were only visible to him. His trance was broken by very mild applause and a pat on his back from Kairo. Garet continue to wander, but started to pay attention after getting caught off guard.

--

Garet was concerned afterwards. He was in no physical or mental shape to be in a place of leadership, and after failing the last mission it had him doubting himself. Once the others were gone he spoke with Kairo.

"You sure you want me to be the squad leader?"

"I trust you more than a lot of the people in this army Garet. I have faith that you won't disappoint me. Now make sure your squad doesn't waste the little time they have to prepare for this."

"Right," was the only word Garet could muster after the words of encouragement.

Garet started down the hallway away from the briefing room, unaware to the fact that Eclipse existed. His mind was wandering for some reason, a polar opposite of the usually organized SL. He popped a pill in his mouth and crunched down on it, his arm and head still in pain. Somewhere he knew that it was his own head doing this, but he remained focus on the task at hand: getting everyone in gear for the simulation.

The anomalies continued in Garet's office. As he opened the door, he realised that "Jester Squad Leader" had changed to "Eclipse Squad Leader"; he shrugged it off and crunched down another pill.

"Damn hallucinations," he mumbled as he dozed off in his chair.

--

Phenix entered silently from the hall. Garet was fast asleep, under the influence of the pills he had taken. A brief shake of the should awoke the dormant SL.

"Hey Garet, could we talk?" asked Garet's Assistant, who looked like he had been jogging for while.

Drowsy and cracking his neck, Garet replied "Yeah, sure, what's up?"

"That was one hell of a mission we had..."

--

Garet and Phenix turned the corner into the simulation room, chatting about Squad affairs and the new recruits. The room was full: everyone had been waiting for them, even Kairo. Garet and Phenix stopped short at the sight of the greens in their armor. The two Leaders were in leisure clothes, wondering why they had dressed in field gear.

"Uh, guys?" Phenix started. "This is a simulation..."

"I informed them, Phenix," Kairo interrupted (who was also in leisure clothes). "Thanks."

Phenix nodded and stepped over to his simulator.

They'll get used to it, Garet had to think about his new recruits. With one last shake of his head, he sat into his simulator seat. A satisfying hum filled the air as the simulators started up. A familiar cold rush came over Garet as he submerged into fantasy.

(OOC: Sorry if it's a little lacking. I just had to get it out there.)

Darin glanced at the gunny entering the room, dressed also in a leisure outfit like the other Leaders. Immediately Darin felt foolish in full field equipment, he should have known he wouldn't need it in the sims, they taught him that back in bloody basic! As the SL took his seat in the simchair, Darin followed suit, and abruptly he was transported to Corellia, just outside of the city they were supposed to be attacking. He surveyed it in cold calculation, also as he had been taught in basic. There were walls all around the perimeter as far as Darin could tell from this angle. There was a single gate, wide enough for three men abreast, which was guarded by two NR soldiers, and a three man team of NR's was rounding the corner roughly two hundred meters away from said gate.

The PFC thought for a moment, they could take out the five men easily enough with their superior armor and equipment, but that would more than likely alert the whole damn city, destroying their chances of getting in and getting out quickly and efficiently. Probably the best course of action would be to take out the guards after the patrol was out of sight, but to sneak up on two men with their backs to a wall would be quite a task. Unless...quickly his mind raced, if they could get two snipers on the guards, they could be taken out quickly and efficiently, permitting the squad time enough to get in, do their job, and get out relatively quickly.

He turned to Gunny Sarge Garet, throwing up a hasty but still precise salute, which was returned just as quickly. "Sir," Darin's voice sounded vaguely robotic through the vococorder, "I am unfamiliar with the squad's armament, but if we had two blasters capable of sniper functionality, we could wait until that patrol was beyond sight, then elimminate the two guards at the gate, get in and get out, with minimum losses." His heart was pounding, and he was grateful for the helmet concealing his features as he awaited the SL's verdict.

Simulation programs were not a common part of Phenix's life, but he had taken a few for Imperial training in the past. He closed his eyes, allowing his mind to clear itself of all distractions, the program clearly depicting itself in Phenix's mind. Never did like the start-ups, Phenix thought to himself. One of these days I won't wake back up.

After a few seconds, Phenix looked down at his arms to see he was in full simulation armor. His blasters were in place, and the readouts of his helmet were all ready to go in front of his eyes. To the side, Phenix saw Garet standing next to him with the rest of the squad in tow. Several meters away Phenix could see the massive city walls, turrets mounted every 30 yards or so.

"A bit tough getting past those guns," RK said out loud. Phenix nodded in agreement, looking up to look for posted guards along the wall. As far as Phenix could see, the only spot for guards would be arming a turret or inside the long bunkers mounted around scattered areas of the wall.

"It doesn't look like there's anyone on patrol right now," Garet remarked, much to the surprise of the rest of the squad. Phenix now also noticed the same thing; not a single patrolman could be seen anywhere along the whole wall. "They must all be inside the bunkers. Watch the turrets, as well."

Phenix, who had been formulating plans inside his head, tried to map out the area by memory. He would need a better view to get an idea of where to start. "We need higher ground. There's no guessing as to what's inside the city," he said more to himself than anyone else. With that, Garet waved for the squad to follow him around the cluster of trees in which they had been placed for the simulation. At least Kairo gave us some cover to start with, Phenix realized.

"Everyone keep your guns in the air but keep yourselfs low. If there are any guards around, we don't want them to see us before we see them," Phenix offered as advice to the greens. Forming a tight circle formation, the squad proceeded towards the city, preparing for inevitable mayhem...

"So...what was the final plan," RK interjected. Garet, still unsure of how to go about this, looked at him slowly.

"As soon as I figure it out, I'll let you know!" Garet Daimun said, his face frowning behind the simulation helmet.

Riqimo quickly removed his armor plating until all he was wearing was his black body glove Well, this might be a little more comfy, although I'll probably get pretty hot he thought.

Once in the sim unit, Riqimo was promted for his personal weapon choice.  Looking for something multipurposed, he choose the S-5 Multi-function blaster pistol with a few sleep darts.  Stealth is my specialty he thought.

"Hey Riqqy, you ready?" asked Garet

"Yep, never have been more ready," Riqimo replied

Suddendly the sim was activated a quick look around revealed a more fortified position than Riqimo had thought.

After moving to a more advantageous viewpoint, Riqimo wispered "Well we wait until dark now, Right?"

"Yes, now we wait while figuring our tactics." Garet wispered back.

Jag didn't really care about the mistake with the armor. It was a mistake and they can happen. So long as its not on the field... He decided to keep it on so it regulated its body temperature.

When the sim started he realised immediately that they were under cover. He checked himself over to make sure that all the kit and his deecee was attached. He used the sniper scope to look around the wall and in and around the gate. He realised that it was like a skeleton crew. Manned only with the necessary guards... well and maybe a few patrols of course.

He heard Darin Seines comment about a sniper and whispered to his SL, "I'll volunteer my services sir. Ive brought my deecee 17 and it of course has a sniper option..." He could tell by the body language that he was still unsure. But he had confidence that they were going to succeed under his leadership...

The air was still. Sounds of battle lingering in the air. The sky was covered in dark clouds, allowing what little of the dusk's sunlight to seep through and tint the scene with a dark overcast. A perfect reflection of Garet's mood. Something hadn't mixed well between the time the simulator went on and now. He was on edge, similar to an adrenaline shot. The little nuances that would've been acceptable to most other people were now outrageous and annoying, and Garet wasn't reacting well.

Wave after wave of constructive criticism came into Garet's attention as they moved through the trees towards the city, and every time his muscles become gradually tenser at the sound of a suggestion. He breathed out as if to say something, but just let it go.

The Simulator had put them in a small rocky, wooded area about a kilometer away from the wall; just as Kairo had said. The Squad was staggered through the trees, the few who had come to talk with Garet walked around him and his ASL awaiting orders. Feeling like he needed to get some relief already, he turned around, ordered everyone to stop, slapped Phenix on the shoulder in a commanding fashion and walked away, leaving Phenix to fend off the rookies.

Garet went off to find Kairo, who was standing solemnly at the base of a rocky hill. The two stood for a while, with a silent understanding, staring at the wall surrounding their target.

"Can't wait for this to be over with," Kairo finally spoke up as he holstered his weapon. "Someone's gonna get hurt if this crap doesn't end."

"Gotta wonder what's goin' on in Basic these days," Garet said, equally annoyed. "Have any advice for what's gonna happen?"

"Not right now, but I figure we'll have something before nightfall."

Garet looked around for anything that could help, and after staring up for a moment, started trodding up the rocky slope. Kairo followed.

The hill was more like a cliff; a wall of rock led down from the top of it. Garet dropped to a prone position as a spectacular line of sight appeared, which wasn't necessarily a good thing. The white Scout Trooper armor would stick out like a sore thumb. The hill was about even with wall, and so Garet's prone position would cover most of his body up. Time to do what his Squad did best.

The optical zoom in the new armor activated, increasing Garet's vision trifold. The NR was getting tricky. At each turret stationed along the wall as a guard as well, and although Garet couldn't tell what type of weapon they had, he could tell that they were wearing camouflage.

"Tricky bastards," he mumbled. Kairo, who had gotten down next to him tapped him on the shoulder and made a "let's go" motion. Garet's zoom disengaged and they made the trip back to the anticipating group.

--

Everyone seemed a little depressed when Garet and Kairo came back. The rookies were all slouched about, looking through the cracks of the tree line towards the wall, while RK was leaning around a tree watching for anyone coming. Phenix hurried over to his SL as soon as he caught sight.

"Thanks for taking care of them," Garet said about the greens.

"They just sat like that when you left. I think you kinda put them down," Phenix said, unaware of the fine lines he was crossing with Garet.

"I'm not in the best of minds right now," Garet snapped back.

"Sorry," the humbled Assistant responded. Garet sighed and continued.

"All right, listen up," he addressed everyone in a louder voice that echoed through the woods. "We're gonna wait for nightfall, like the plan. There's turrets every so often along the wall with guards in camouflage beneath them. We'll split up into pairs and make our way towards the wall. If we get up right next to it without being seen, we can work our way around to find an entrance. Hang tight until then."

Riqimo sighed, wondering how much longer they were going to have to stay in the muddy, wet puddle.  He saw Garet and Kairo returning from their patrol.

"Well what is the situation?" asked RK.

"Fairly well fortified, they have turrets all along the walls and well camouflaged soldiers manning them, any attempts to sneak up will be difficult due to our white armor sticking out from the terrain like a sore thumb.  There is little brush to use for cover within 250 meters of the wall," responded Garet
"I want you all to pair up and use the buddy system to find a way in that won't get us killed."

Riqimo thought a bit, and asked Typex3, "You want to partner up?  I got an idea."

"Sure," shrugged Typex3, "I don't mind."

"Good, we're gonna try to get close to the wall and see if they have some form of a drainage pipe or waste disposal unit," suggested Riqimo

"Alright boys, we just way until dark, meanwhile just observe what you can from here, we will have a weapon check one hour before we attempt to engage," said Garet.

Riqimo groaned to himself, I hate this damp, stinky hellhole we have to camp out in... Well I guess it could be worse, there could be no trees for cover.

Riqimo and Typex3 spent the time observing the wall position to their left, where a mechanic was apparently fixing something on one of the turrets.

"What is he doing?" asked Typex3 pulling Jag Fel over.

"Seems that he is rewiring the power grid for that turret," observed Jag using his DC-17M.

"If one is out, then the all the turrets series wired to that one is out, right?" asked RK.

"Yeah, I had that problem once on my former smuggling ship, I stupidly wired the navigation devices in a series instead of parallel because I didn't have enough wire and didn't want to buy some more," answered Riqimo, "there is no way they would have obtained enough wire.  I guess the budget they appear to have by looking at the outdated control interface would not allow the expensive shielded wire to be obtained in that quantity, so best guess is four turrets offline over there."

"Hmm, nice job boys, we'll take a look over there soon enough," commented Phenix, who overheard their discussion.

----------

Riqimo was waiting for weapon inspection in 30 minutes.  Looking around, he saw a beautiful white bird land into a mud puddle to grab a worm.  The puddle was a bit deep and the bird attempted to flap about to get out.  Riqimo picked it out and let it fly away.  He was surprised at quickly he lost sight of it in the brush. White bird, muddy bird, white bird, muddy armor?  Quickly Riqimo began smearing his armor with mud.  I can't believe I am getting my armor dirty for an inspection, heh

When inspection came, the squad stared at Riqimo...

"You fall?" asked Killigon.

"No, it is natural camouflage, see?  No more white against the terrain." replied Riqimo.

I think my post left a little confusion, so here's something I did to help.

The yellow is the Landing Zone (LZ). The gray circle is where we are currently. The tan color is the wall, with the red dots being turrets/guards. The dark green is trees, the gray triangle is the hill. Anything in black is somethign we haven't seen yet.

I'll update this as the story continues.

Kairo was getting impatient. The squad members were looking out from the trees, trying to exam anything on the wall that might be of use later. Finally, he'd had enough. "Simulation, bring time forward two hours." Suddenly, the world was plunged into darkness. Now everything was covered in shadows. The landscape took on an eerie glow from the moon's light. Thankfully, it was a cloudy night, so only patches of visibility moved across the grassy plain.

"Oh, and change armor color to black." It seemed as if everyone disappeared then, though no one had moved. "Sorry about that, guys. Apparently the technician though there was a glitch in the program and reverted the armor's color back its original white. I was going to let it go, but this is to train you with your proper armor and test your skills. You can keep the mud though Riqimo." Kairo smiled underneath his helmet.

Garet's voice whispered through Kairo's helmet through the built in comlink. "Well, I guess we can begin thanks to Kairo. We're going to split into groups of two and one of three. Kairo's with me. The rest of you can sort it out amongst yourselves. Now that it is dark, we are going to make our way to the wall. Once alongside it, we will examine it for a hundred meters in both directions. If someone finds something that will gain us entrance to the city, send out a message through the comlink and wait there. If nothing turns up, I'll send you more instructions after fifteen minutes. You are not to engage the enemy or bring attention to yourself. Do not go near the main gates through the wall. If you come to one, turn back and send me a message. Any questions. . . good. Move out."

Finally. Kairo thought. Pushing off from the tree he had been leaning against, he walked through the troopers as they started to discuss who would be their partners. Meeting up with Garet, he waited for him to make a move. "Oh right, I'm leading." Garet mumbled. Loping down the hill, the two men skimmed across the grassy field. It was deceiving long. What had appeared to be short grass was actually tall, wavy grass. Something else to aid in their approach.

They moved like wraiths across the distant. Making sure to stay out of the patches of moonlight that broke through the clouds, they periodically stopped for a second to listen for any other noises. Who knew what lay in this field besides them.

(OOC Short, I know, but I thought I'd get you guys going a bit better and switch the armor out. Hopefully, you'll get posting again, especially since you have some basic instructions. )

"You can keep the mud though Riqimo." Kairo told Riqimo.

"Thanks, sir," repled Riqimo with embarassment.

"It was a good idea though," Garet told Riqimo aside.

After everyone had partnered up, Garet gave the order, "Move out."

Making sure all of their equipment was taped down so that it wouldn't jingle, Riqimo and Typex beagan their trek to the wall, moving in quick bursts of speed then listening to see what was around them, when they reached the wall, Riqimo pulled out his PX-7 Heat Sensor and scanned the wall above him.

"Well, what is up there?" Typex wispered over the comlink.

"Looks like all their turrets are manned, we'll need to move farther north if we hope to get in somehow," Riqimo softly replied.

Typex and Riqimo moved silently along the wall to the north, they stopped suddenly when they heard two of the guards talking.

"You think there is any chance that we will be attacked here?" one of them said.

"I dunno, the General wants us over here, I think this is a risky move though... We left our entire western wall virtually unmanned."

Geez, why can't it be this one? thought Riqimo.

"Well I don't question his orders, but I just hope that the patrols will spot any Imperials over there in time for us to rush across the city to man some turrets."

"Yeah, it would be pretty bloody if they were to strike from there."

Riqimo gestured to Typex to continue moving so that they could relay the info back to the squad.

As soon as they were safely out of range, Typex said, "Well if only we could get them to the other side..."

Riqimo thought a moment, "You are a Comm Tech, right?

"Yes, why?" replied Typex.

"Well..." Riqimo started to give Typex a general sketch of his idea.

"I like that, but I think I have a better idea, wait a moment," Typex responded.

(OOC I guess Kairo doesn't want his armor dirty anyways Typex and I were chatting on IRC a few nights back, and the last part kinda lays it out for Typex to use his idea, which quite truthfully I am not sure what it entirely is myself... so suprise us Typex )

Jag walked up to RK and said, "Hey you wanna come with me and go along past the cliff over there because I have a plan that might work with some luck..." Jag smiled behind his helmet at that point.

RK stood up and replied, "Why not?

Before Jag could start telling him about his plan Garet and Kairo interrupted by saying, "Sim forward two hours." Then he said something quieter, and if it werent for the heat sensors in his helmet he wouldnt of known anyone was there...

When Garet dismissed them they walked through the long grass at a steady pace, stopping at one intervals RK asked about Jag's plan. He took a minute to gather his forces and replied, "Well what I thought is that usually on a walled city like this the main road goes to the east. So I thought that if we walked far enough hopefully along this side we would come accross the entrance. But if I'm wrong remember I said, "with luck..." They both had a little laugh at that.

When they reached about the halfway point on the west wall the long grass abrubtly stopped and there was a an old concrete road that looked as worn out as a bantha. With what appeared to have a speeder coming towards the city. Jag turned to RK and said, "Hide theres a civilian coming!" They dove back into the deep cover of the grass and looked at each other.

Rk said. "Well I dont know about you but I think we should go back and report to Garet." Jag looked at him and they both got up and ran at a steady pace.

* Northeast from the Landing Zone (Manifest Destiny)

The enhancing dark sky grew darker as the minutes passed by, and the two troopers stood firmly 500 ft away from the main entrance of the city. The dual combination of the two newly incorporated troopers played an inexperienced role into the operation of the squad. Lance Corporals Typex3 and Riqimo, deployed to a near position approximately 150 meters away. A large boulder and a small bush 250 meters away from the main entrance, gave complete coverage of the two troopers trying to resolve an operative mission. Typex3 and Riqimo dashed to the near cover, Typex3 went strait to the boulder of rock, and Riqimo headed towards the bush. Only separated by two feet, Typex3 and Riqimo exchanged conversations about the operation.

"Okay, we have full coverage from the city's turrets and guards. Since its night in this simulation, using our camouflaged armor, they will not be able to spot us unless if we are disruptive in any way. We have our side arms just in case some of the guards are patrolling the city's main entrance, although I doubt there is maximum security outside the walls." Typex3 announced.

"Alright, now there has to be some way that we can sneak into the city, while still remain undiscovered by the guards." Riqimo nodded.

"I wish I had my Technician equipment here, to identify the walls more carefully. Well, we'll have to do this the old fashion way, let's silently head out for different locations, I'll head out to the eastern, while you take on the western side of the walls. I hope that those side arms will be of some use in case of anything. However you have the COM Link, report all status going on. If necessary, I'll contact support." Typex3 said, while giving a pat on the shoulders to Riqimo.

There they went, the two troopers separated in opposite directions. Typex3 kept a close eye on surrounding field, while Riqimo blasted away heading to the western side of the walls. After merely 5 minutes of deployment, Typex3 reached a secluded surrounding fence, which protected a weaponry tower before reaching the city wall. Typex3 retreated to a small cover just 60 meters away from the fence. He pulled out his Comm. Link.

"Riq, it's me Typex!"

"Typex, I have encountered a problem in my way to the western side of the main gate. Some sort of a Control Tower with a surrounding fence appeared out of nowhere. Fortunately, I haven't reached there yet, but I'll have to encounter this myself sometime. What's your status?" Riqimo whispered.

"Same here Riq, the fence was enabling me to move on with plans."

"The Tower has search lights. We'll have to be careful when attempting anything." Riqimo reported.

Typex3 looked ahead with his binoculars into the tower's control room. Three guard's were to be seen, one acting as a communication aide, and the other two supporting with the weaponry and night-watch of intruders.

"Well, I found out that three guards are watching activity around the control tower. I'll guess this will be challenging for both of us. Nevertheless, if we are able to get control over the tower, there are a few possibilities from there." Typex3 clicked.

"Should we take them over right now?" Riq questioned.

"Let's call back to Garet and wait. There may be more than just three people in these places. It would be safer to do this with back up."

"You have a point. You going to make the call?"

"Yeah," Typex3 stated, switching to the squad frequency. "Squad leader, this is Typex3. We've found something that may be important. We're on the main strip of road that leads to the East side of the city. We've found two watch towers. What are our orders?" Typex3 waited a moment.

"Hold your position. Jag Fel's team is on that same road. Half the team will join as soon as possible. I repeat, hold your position and do not attack until we arrive." Gare't ordered.

"Understood," Typex3 replied. "Riq, we're to wait for reinforcements. Do not engage." Pressing against the ground, Typex3 waited for support. A moment later, he heard Riq acknowledge.

"Hold your position. Jag Fel's team is on that same road. Half the team will join as soon as possible. I repeat, hold your position and do not attack until we arrive." Gare't ordered. Turning to Kairo, he asked, "What do you think?" Kairo just turned his helmeted head and remained silent. A few seconds passed as the pair remained silent, crouching only a hundred meters from the wall. Finally, Garet realized why Kairo was being quiet. "Oh right. I'm the one giving orders. Not used to that yet. Give me a minute then. . ."

Kairo nodded, smiling beneath his helmet, though it was a disparaging smile. True mirth had lost its touch on him long ago. As Garet thought his next move out completely, Kairo heard an incoming transmission through his comlink. Clicking it on, he heard, "Another member have Eclipse has been added. PFC Jellybean will be simulated shortly. Come in Kairo."

Sighing, Kairo stated, "Put him with Garet and me."

"Understood," one of the technicians in the real world replied.

"Did you say something?" Garet asked.

"We'll be having company shortly." Kairo murmured. A second later, a figure materialized out of thin air. As the soldier arrived into the virtual reality completely, he quickly looked around. "Duck down." Kairo ordered.

Crouching down, the soldier followed orders; still not completely sure of what was happening. "Uh, Gunnery Sergeant Garet, sir?" he asked, looking at Kairo. Kairo raised an arm and pointed at the pondering figure of Garet.

Finally, Garet said, "I have a plan. Oh, hey. Just follow us. You'll get the low down as we go." Jellybean just nodded. He had been slightly briefed by the technicians on what had happened so far. Garet gave Kairo and Jellybean the signal to follow him. As they ran across the fields toward the north, Garet said into his comlink, "Everyone, you have new orders. Eclipse two, four, and five, meet up with two and six. They are approximately straight northeast from the hill. Once you have arrived, wait with them until a suitable transport comes by. Stop it and hijack it. I'd prefer if you don't kill anyone, but if it comes to that, so be it. Make sure it can hold the entire squad. A cargo truck of some sort would be the best. Eclipse seven and eight, wait where you are until my team arrived. Over and out."

Good job Garet. Kairo thought absently, following closely behind Garet. He knew exactly where the two towers were, and thankfully, Garet was heading right for them. I was hoping that the squad would arrived in more force at the towers when they found them, but as long as Typex and Riq keep level heads until we arrive, things should go just as well. I mean, having the three people in the main control room is quit deceiving. A small grin flickered across his lips. You are wicked Kairo. A small voice said at the back of his head.

It took a few minutes for the three of them to arrive within sighting distance of the towers. Crouching low into the grass, they crawled up to the extent radius of the searchlights. Garet spoke into his comlink again, "Who is at the south tower and where about are you?"

Riqimo's voice said, "This is Eclipse 7. I'm on the eastern side of the search radius."

"Move south along the perimeter until you find us."

  "Roger."

Turning to Kairo, Garet asked, "What about Typex?"

"I'll go to him. We should be able to take down the other tower. I could probably do it myself. What do you want to do once we take them over though?" Kairo asked. He knew what the right answer was, but he wondered if Garet would puzzle it out.

"We'll call in for the transport. Hopefully, you and Typex will be able to find out the proper protocols for gaining entrance through the main gate. Since these are watch towers, they probably have to call in." Garet paused as second. "Have Typex rig some looping response for what they normally reported. While he's doing that, you go through the logs and find the time intervals that they are to be sent. Then have him patch it through to us and we'll be set. By that time, our ride should be here."

"Sounds good. Looks like Riqimo is almost here," Kairo said looking over Garet's shoulder.

Turning around, Garet took a look but couldn't see anything. "How can you be. . ." He began, but Kairo had already disappeared to meet Typex. "I hate it when he does that. Must have had his helmet set on a different vision setting." Garet muttered, as he and Jellybean waited for Riqimo to arrive.

Moving swiftly through around the backside of the tower, Kairo made sure to stay out of the range if sight from both it and the wall. Scanning both ways as he arrived at the road, Kairo checked to make sure no one was coming. Being caught running across the road would be the stupidest mistake to make. Once safely across, he dropped into a patch of foliage and asked into the comlink, "Where are you Typex?"

"I'm about sixty meters from the east side of the tower." He responded.

"Do you think you can jump the fence and dash to the rocky outcropping the tower is situated atop?" Kairo asked.

"Uh.. maybe?" Typex voice rose slightly.

"Maybe good, or maybe bad?" Kairo questioned as he began to inch his way to the fence.

There was a brief pause. "Oh screw it. I'm going." Typex replied. Grunting, Kairo rolled his eyes and hoped he wouldn't have to restart the simulator. Jumping into the air, Kairo grabbed the top of the fence and flipped over it. As he landed on the other side, he cocked his head up and checked to make sure the searchlights were moving in the right order. After a second of examination, he sprinted across the gap. Pressing up against the rock wall, he let out a slow breath. Inching his way along it, he kept moving until he saw Typex crouched low ahead of him. "I made it. I think."

Dropping down next to him, Kairo whispered, "Yeah, you're clear." Typex jumped slightly not expecting to see Kairo there.

"You'll have to show me how to do that sometime." Typex admired.

"Later," Kairo said annoyed. "You ready?" Typex nodded, grasping his pistol. Pulling out his carbine, Kairo also slid out one of the two daggers he had simulated as his personal weapon. Drawing in a deep breath, Kairo centered his mind, bringing the world into focus for the next few seconds, a technique he had developed over the years. A quick hand signal was all Typex received, before Kairo surged up the hill in a flurry of motion. The tower was about ten meters high with the top part cut off except for a small roof for shelter. A single door was the only way inside. A window also allowed the bottom level to see out side. No one was at the window on this night.

Sidling up against the door, Kairo motioned for Typex to move to the other side. Knocking, Kairo waited.
________________________________________________________________________
*Inside the tower*

Thunk Thunk A Republic soldier lifted his head at the sound from the door. "Who could that be?" Rick asked from across the room, looking up from his datapad.

"I don't know. Shift change isn't for two hours." The soldier replied.

"Think its people from that Imperial army we heard rumors about?" Rick asked, grasping his weapon.

"Those are only rumors. And even if they weren't, do you think they would knock?" The soldier retorted.

"Just be careful Thom." Rick whispered.

"I have been in the forces longer than you. Trust me." Moving up against the door, Thom asked, "Password?"

"There is none." A voice on the other side responded.

  "Who are you?" Thom asked.

  "Shift change."

"That's not for another two hours."

"The boss feels that tonight the watch should be extra strong, so he sent us to replace you." The voice responded.

Looking over at Rick, Thom shrugged. Rick raised his weapon towards the door, just incase. Nodding, Rick slid out his blaster as well. Pressing in the access code, he heard it unlock. He paused a second then. Wasn't there an access panel on the outside. Suddenly the door slammed open right into his face. As the world winked out of existence, Thom thought it was odd that he didn't hear any blaster fire from Rick.

As Typex entered the room, Kairo shut the door behind them. Turning to the man who had been behind the door, now unconscious on the floor, Kairo bent down and snapped his neck He heard Typex emit a small sound behind him. Standing up, Kairo walked over to the other man and withdrew the dagger protruding from his skull. Wiping it off, he whispered, "Let's finish the upstairs. We don't need to worry about being silent on them."

Typex just nodded, but asked, "How did you know there wasn't a password?"

Kairo walked over to the stair and gave Typex the signal to move up. "I didn't." He whispered as Typex passed him to head up the stairs.

"Eclipse two, four, and five, meet up with two and six..." Jag heard Garet say over the squad channel.

He turned to RK and said, "Look's like well be having company soon." Jag said through the comlink. "All right with Garet sending three more members of the squad we should have them go on the other side, and we stay where we are. Then when a truck comes along we jump out and stop it and they sneak up and get the driver and passenger."

"Sounds like a good plan" Phenix said coming into view through the tall grass with Killigon and Darin behind him. "OK Jag and RK get accross the road and when you see a truck that might have the capacity for the squad get out and stop it without damaging the truck. Clear? Good, move out!"

Jag and RK sprinted accross the road and dove into the tall grass and took positions where they could see the road but anyone passing on the road couldnt see them. RK said, "Remember Jag Garet said to try and keep the driver alive." Jag gave him a sideway's glance but dedcided now wasent the time for humour seeing as if he failed his first mission people might think him a joke.

______________________________________________________________
Fifteen minutes later

Jag said over the comlimk channel, "Everyone I think there's an A-A5 speeder truck coming. Get ready..." Jag squatted on his knees and executed a jumping movement that rolled him onto the road and ended with him on his knee in a shooting position with his carbine out and pointed at the driver. The rest of the team ran out and manhandled the driver out and stuned him and the passenger.

Phenix said, "Jag take his clothes and put them on, your the driver. I'll be the passenger. Everyone else in the cargo hold. RK radio Garet and tell him we've obtained a truck."

Jag put the clothes over his armor and it didnt look to tight because the driver was bulky. He got in the truck and familiarised himself with the controls. Rk shouted said over the squad chanel, " Garet said to pull the speeder off the road and await further orders." Jag pulled the truck into the grass and powered down the repulsors.

Jelly Bean woke up slowly stretching a little working out any sores he had . He rubs his eyes and looks at his flashing Data pad.Noticing he has a message he proceeds to opens up his message box and reads the following message. "You have been assigned to Eclipse Squad please report immediately to Gunnery Sergeant Garet."

"Finally" He thought "now I can prove myself of worth to my Superiors ." In his eagerness  Jelly Bean decided to pack only what he needed for the Sim . He could always come back and get his other things later. Also He thought it better he got to the Sim room as soon as possible. He quickly dressed and checked his armor "Well I'll have to make modifications later to helmet Display to compensate for my eye."He said to himself.

Jelly hurried out of the Drill Squad's Barracks and proceeded towards Eclipse's designated Sim area. As he jogged along he tested His eye's display "Great" He said quietly "Sight Retrieval time is at .02 seconds lag I hope that doesn't impair my sight to badly."

Jelly made his way down the final hall outside the Sim area. Outside the chamber He met with the Assistant Technician who kindly double checked his gear.

"Your all good." He said  "Thanks." Replied Jelly. "Ok the Sim your about to enter is the first test mission that Eclipse is having. The planet that its on is Corellia just follow Garet's Orders and you'll be good. So Report to Gunnery Sergeant Garet  when you are loaded into the Sim." The Tech explained.

"Will do ." Jelly replied. "Good well give me a second and I'll find out where they want you deployed." The tech added who then turned and spoke into his headset. "Ok Well You will be simulated at Garet and Kairo's position now please step into the simulation chamber."

Jelly did as he was told. Suddenly Light flashed around him and he was in the simulation. "Duck down." Commanded a nearby trooper. Jelly quickly dropped down as silently as possible."Uh, Gunnery Sergeant Garet, sir?" Jelly asked the trooper that had given the order.  The trooper replied by pointing at another nearby trooper that was looking in Jelly's Direction. Jelly quickly gave a salute and waited for orders.
Jelly then waited for orders.

(Ok this is my first story post so please forgive me if its a little rough. I have trouble being shot straight into the middle of something so thats why I stopped. I'm trying to get a fell for this and all and I'll do better next time.)

Riqimo guarded the base of the tower with Jelly Bean at his side while Kairo and Typex were clearing the tower.

"So you just got in here, huh?" Riqimo asked.

"Yeah, it's kinda confusing just jumping in like this," replied Jelly Bean.

"Out of curiosity, do you think that you can act as a prisoner for a plan of mine?"

"What do you mean?"

"Well once Kairo lets us up I'm taking one of the guard's uniform, and since I am fluent in Old Corellian I can probably get past the gate with out any problems.  If I could take one of you guys as a prisoner, then that would be two men inside to hit the power generators for the turrets, which makes our lives much simpler."

"Wow, that's quite a plan... I guess I could do this."

"Great, i just need Garet's approval now."

Kairo's voice came over the two trooper's helmet comlinks, "All right boys, let's get you up here, you said you needed to see a view inside the city, Riqimo?"

"Yeah, I want to know where some targets are," Riqimo responded as he began going up.

Typex came on, "Well, if it makes your life easier, one of these guards has a map on his datapad... it is a civilian map, but still it should give us a little assistance."

When Riqimo reached the top of the tower, he downloaded the map to his datapad and began gazing out at the city.

"Looking for something in particular?" Garet asked behind him, causing Riqimo to jump.

Riqimo saw that the entire squad was in the tower now, using the vantage piont to plan their next move.

"Uh, yeah the main power generators, if we can knock the power out, enemy communications are limited, it is darker inside the city, and the better part, all turrets without a backup power supply are down.  My idea is that I take this guard's uniform get through the gate with JB as prisoner.  Then hit the generators... only I can't see them."

Jag asked, "Wouldn't a power generator station give off a magnetic signature?"

Typex answered, "Yes, it would unless it is shielded... let's see if we can use our helmet's electro-magnetic vision capability to see if there is a heavy spike in energy somewhere."

The squad began to gaze into the horizon trying to find the magnetic signature of the power generator, except Typex and Kairo, who continued to see what materials of intelligence significance were in the tower.

Typex called out, "Fellas... I think I found it... according to this message to the guards are to allow New Republic Techs through the east gate about three hours from now to be taken to the underground generators."

"Well, there goes that idea," sighed Garet.

"Wait guys, I have the code the techs are to give the gate guards," Typex laughed.

"What is so funny?" Jag asked.

Typex tried to keep a strait face, "The pass-code, it is 'eta chi lambda iota pi sigma epsilon'"

The squad blankly stared at him...

"Oh sorry... you need to see it the way I did," he showed them the screen

The New Republic is sending technicians to upgrade the underground generator bunker.  They will pass the gate and towers with the following pass:

eta
chi
lambda
iota
pi
sigma
epsilon

Huh?  Oh I see, heh, that is funny some wise guy tech running the sim I bet
Riqimo chuckled to himself.  Looking around he saw some of his squad mates got it, others looking confused.

"Well with that information, I guess that we could try something else," Garet thought aloud.

The squad waited with tense anticipation for Garet to tell them what to do.

Riqimo struggled for breathe as he slowed to a crouch with Garet and Bean. He obviously felt a need for urgency for an order coming from Garet. Ah, devotion. Something Garet would need to get used to.

"What's the next step, sir?" Riqi asked when his brething was normal, "and who's this?" he inquired towards the vagrant private.

"His callsign is Jelly Bean, he'll be in Eclipse." Bean nodded towards Riqi in acknowledgment. "You two better get to know each other, I'm pairing you up for the remainder of the mission."

The two glanced at each other, trying trying to size the other up.

"First things first, I need you two to cover Kairo and Typex. They'll be taking care of the North tower." Garet pushed aside some of the tall grass that they were surrounded in and peered towards Kairo, who had just hopped the fence. "When I tell you to run, run straight over there and hide where the light can't get you." Garet looked away to see what he could do. "Watch for me," he said as he prepped himself for a run. The search light on the south tower turned, and Garet ran straight towards the fence, grabbed it with both hands, and using his momentum, flipped and rolled himself to the tower.

Without hesitating to see if the light had found him, he peered around the tower to see Kairo and Typex entering the opposite one. Garet gave a quick flick of the wrist, signaling Riqi and Bean to go. They sprinted through the darkness towards the north tower, following Garet's order without hesitation. But when they were almost at the north fence, the searchlight of the south tower caught movement.

And the ploy works. The perfect sacrifice. Garet started to feel better. Not only had his plan worked, but it had worked at the expense of two greens. Their sacrifice wasn't personal, just more of a representation of Garet's feelings towards the whole group right now. A couple shouts broke Garet's short bliss.

The door to the tower flew open and a guard emerged. Garet promptly grabbed him around the neck, pulled him back and raised his blaster outward in case of more guards. The door shut sooner than Garet thought, blocking his way in, so Garet pulled the guard in closer while bringing his blaster the the guard's forehead for interrogation.

Before Garet could say anything the guard uttered a threat a threat Garet paid no attention to. Garet pushed the blaster deeper into the guard's temple. "Listen here, you're going to tell me if there are any scheduled arrivals for this here check point, or I'm gonna start breaking limbs."

"I ain't tellin' you nothin'... you... you piece of Imperial fodder!"

Garet's rage exploded in the slightest pull of a finger, one that set off a blast and ended the guard's life. He immediately regretted this as he thought about the door. His rage couldn't have been worse. There was no way in now. Unless...

Garet reached towards the door and pushed. The door swung open unimpeded. "Stupid, idiot rebels..." Garet murmured as he shut the door. Someone gazing intensely into a monitor called back to 'whoever' entered.

"Hey, those guys weren't the Imperials HQ warned us about, were they?" the man called back in a sarcastic, chuckling voice. Garet raised his blaster.

"Yeah," he said calmly. The man spun around quickly in his chair, in shock at the unfamiliar voice. Garet blasted a hole right through the man's forehead as he spun around. "Stupid, idiot rebels..." Garet reiterated.

-

"Well with that information, I guess that we could try something else," Garet thought aloud. Finally, a break in th clouds. "But we won't be going after the generators just. Too lengthy of a task and it won't be lightly guarded. We'll wait for the opportune moment to strike. The truck is our way in, and our fast way out. We need to be able to have the gates open for us when we leave; blowing the power would disable them. Now... everyone load up. Let's get inside the city, find a nice dark spot to settle into and we'll take it from there."

Phenix was the first to jump out of the truck. He looked around cautiously, making sure they didn't have the attention of any rebel militia. They were parked beside some ominous business building, several meters inside the city wall and out of the way of the republic military.

The rest of the squad rushed out of the back, making their way down the back alley behind the structure. Finally, Garet approached the troopers and began a quick speal.

"All right, you know that we can't bring a ton of attention to ourselves until we're all set up. That means no big guns, no armor, and absolutely no going near any rebel military!" he began, never more serious. Phenix knew that it may be just a simulation, but nothing is more important than being prepared. If they fail now, who's to say they wouldn't fail when the time comes for real?

Garet turned for a second, paused, then continued. "It should be safe to leave our equipment in the truck as long as we keep it under cover. Let's get ready right here..."

-----Several minutes later-----

The last member threw his gear into the cab of the truck and covered it with a light blanket that was in the back. From a distance, nothing looked out of the ordinary. Even if someone was to pass by the truck, they'd never suspect anything strange inside anyway. Besides, the truck was parked in the alley, and no one had walked that way yet.

Phenix felt so naked without his guns, only because if the republic soldiers managed to somehow realize there were Imperials inside their city, fists wouldn't do much good against their blasters. But, as long as the squad did as they were supposed to, they wouldn't need weapons just yet. They still had some exploring to do inside the city.

"I don't recommend going it alone. Stick together and you'll be fine," Garet said, more concerned about the mission than the members themselves. Last thing we need is to be short a hand.

"Okay, let's do this carefully and quietly," Phenix said to himself more than anyone else.
