VEEC was never "rolling" so to speak. Ever since I joined the VE, it has always been the division in which one person would do something here, then another person would do something a few months later, etc.
Participation in the VEEC isn't related to club activity in the sense that you are speaking of. The VEEC was originally designed to house the programmers, web/graphics designers, and game modders of the Vast Empire. The VEEC houses the VET, lead by myself, but the VET is somewhat a seperate entity in itself. There have been numerous (well, many times to be frank) times when I have tried to revive the VET, but it doesn't really matter what I do, or what Bear did (the previous Editor in Chief). The VET relied on the constant participation and responsibilities of that of its writers, and the writers were the ones that always slacked off in the end.
Now, if you, or if someone you know, is very fluent in ColdFusion, then maybe that person can give Kad a ring and see if he/she could do anything to help with any projects. Bear in mind that "coding websites" for the VE may not be as simple as some people may think. The vast majority of our websites consist of member logins, data bases, etc., and as such, an individual would need to have expertise knowledge in these concepts (databases, mySQL possibly, and a variety of several languages).
Graphics, on the other hand, is a little easier to produce, but it is still very difficult to have the superiors approve of your work in order to use them as "official images" of the VE site. Why? Because a lot of people here use images from Google or other StarWars sites, and laws can/will be broken if some people just copy/paste images into Paint, slap some text on there, and call it their own.
All of this information is not to discourage people, of course. It is merely information that one must know before thinking about taking on such a responsibility.
One of the things people did not like about the VEEC was that, in terms of its Engineering department (web design, game mods, etc.), the "employee" was paid by commission; meaning you were paid for each project completed. There was no monthly check.
Now, this was the old VEEC and its old operations. If we had a good bunch of members that could be, say, game testers, then we may have something to play with. Game testers: a group of 5-10 people that went out, played online demos and gave detailed reports of the upcoming and new game platforms that we support/could support.
There are many possibilities that we exploit via the VEEC, but finding the people to take the time and responsibility to engage in those oppertunities is another story.
