  ESC-Tokijin's Personal Story

Tokijin just finished a run on the simulator and got out of her seat. She was tired and her turn to patrol would start soon. Ignoring the loud bickering of the many guys in the room she began to walk out, ready for a drink. Apparently fate wouldn't allow it.  Behind her she heard the moronic yell of someone who thought she would give him more than a glance.

"Hey! Blue hair! Where ya goin'?"

Toki was one of the few girls around and apparently they hadn't realized by then that she paid no attention to anyone except those who had the authority to command her.
She turned her head to see who was calling but ignored him completely. She didn't have time to chit-chat. She had be out patrolling in a little less than a half an hour and still had to get ready.

She hurried out of the room and walked quickly to her room. Being late was not an option here. Rebels had attacked this base here on the desert planet of Hesum many times this month. They needed extra reinforcements and that's why she was put here, and also for more experience than she would get on a simulator.

She got to her room quickly and put on her uniform and started walking to the room where they would meet and discuss the situation. She was being put on the long shift and by standard rules they had to fill the pilots in on what was going on as limitedly as they could.

She reached the meeting room a few minutes before the meeting would start. There were about four pilots in the room already, which was quite small. She found a place to sit and started waiting. She didn't have to wait long because as soon as she sat down the commanding officer entered the room. He looked like he was in a hurry and didn't look like he wanted to explain what he had to explain to these people.

"I have to make this quick. The rebels are planning to attack again soon. They don't attack in large numbers so about six or seven at a time is what we've seen every time they've attacked. We have a small clue to what they want but we need to confirm it so don't attack them until we see where they're headed." This man was short and had a large figure and his impatience showed as he shifted his weight from one foot to another.

"So lay low but don't let them destroy anything. We will you a signal soon after we've learned what we need to. So keep an eye on the desert. You will know what the signal is when you see it. Good luck and don't die."  The man left the room in a hurry and Toki could see he started speed walking before the door even closed.

Toki sighed and mumbled to herself, "He cares so much about us." She stood up a stretched and looked at who she would be flying with.

The first person she saw was a tall man, maybe in his thirties. He had the traditional navy haircut and looked angry. The next pilot was a tiny woman. She looked very self-disciplined with a hard look on her face. The last two guys were sitting next to each other talking and laughing.

She sighed. They didn't seem like the type of people she easily got along with. She began to miss Nazgul. She had been here for about three weeks but she finally realized how homesick she was. She was used to being alone but now that she finally had friends she began to miss them dearly. An image of a laughing Trevor popped into her head. The memory confused her but there wasn't enough time to sort it out because a loud booming voice interrupted her thoughts.

"Alright! Time to get going. These rebels are getting on my nerves and its time we got rid of them." The woman nodded and stood up. The other two kept talking. The mean munchkin went over and stood next to the two guys, who weren't too much older than Toki. She glared at them for about ten seconds before they realized that they were being paid attention to. One of them looked at her and smiled sheepishly.

"Hi. What's up? Hehheh." He tried.
"Get up. We need to go. Now."
"Alright, alright. Shouldn't we introduce ourselves first? If I get the honor of being pushed around by you, I would very much like to know you name." The other guy's friend piped up sarcastically.
"I suppose he's right. We've never had the same shift before so introductions would be nice." Tokijin said quietly.
"Fine. Let's hurry it up though. I'm Jag Quorr."
"And I am Avlin Nataya."  Avlin then looked at the two.
"I'm Tyro." "And this guy is Kyle." Kyle was the sarcastic guy. They all then looked at Toki who stuck her hands in her pockets.
"My name is Tokijin. You can shorten it anyway you like&"

Everyone was about ready to take off. They were waiting for the ok and then it would be time to fly. Toki sat back in her seat and began to think. She wish she knew when she could go back. The VE was like a home to her and she never considered her last living place a home.

She never told anyone about her only friend there&She had missed him for the past five years. One more reason more reason why she joined the vast empire was that rebels had attacked Farhen Rina when she was twelve.

Her planet was for the Empire and her only friend was killed by rebel hands as a threat to give the rebels some supplies. She rubbed her face and tried to remember what he looked like by the image was lost with the years. She then thought of Trevor and smiled. She had had a lot of fun with him in the short amount of time she has had in the navy. She wished she could go back and see him but that wasn't going to happen soon.

A voice chimed in her head. "Nazgul, take off already!" It was Avlin. She came back to reality and took to the skies. They were to split up and keep an eye out for the rebels. And what would they're signal be? There was desert everywhere. How where they supposed to know when to go all out?

There were so many questions Mr. Chubby didn't answer and Tokijin didn't like that. Too many question and she either thought on things too long or didn't think quickly enough. She would need help and the other eyes of her comrades.

"This is the Ax, does anyone see anything yet?" Jag's voice pierced through her ears.
"Pyro, how are things going on your end?" Kyle asked but was quickly followed by Tokijin's fast laugh at Tyro's name. It was a cool name but also so close to his real one.
"I don't see anything yet. Do the clouds seem to be getting thicker to you Sar?"
"Kind of. Hey Blue Hair, anything on your radar?" Toki scowled at his lack of codename usage and the fact that he was the guy who had called after her back in the simulator room.

She did notice the clouds were becoming darker and thicker. It seemed like the planet was going to get its annual rain this year and that wasn't good. When it rained, it came down in a furry. To add to that, villages, including the base, would be opening their water tanks to let in more water.

Most of this didn't bother Toki because she had learned; she could fly her best in a storm. She was always focused on not messing up, but in a storm everyone was and that made her relax. Plus she loved the water so what could go wrong?

"Hey Javelin, does this look like rain to you?" Jag sounded a little worried.
"Everyone is going to rain. And from what I've read on this planet, it only rains twice a year and when it does, you're gonna get a lot of water and wind." Tokijin knew her stuff here.
"If that's the case, why did the rebels decide today of all days to attack?" Tyro sound worried and confused.
"I think I know." Avlin figured it out first but Toki soon caught on.
"They wanna kill the planets water system! Without this rain, they'll have to start importing water and since that's extremely expensive, they'd run out of money and close down the base."

more shall come later

Given that both posts are short of the mark, 1 point is awarded for the two of them.  Personal stories must be 1000 words long.

"Wait, you wanna explain this?" Kyle sounded worried and confused.

"See, whenever it rains all the villages, including the base, open these huge barrel type containers and they catch water in that. They also have these wider types of catchers out in the deserts. They can collect enough water this way and it'll keep them alive until the next rain fall.

"They can drop bombs into these collectors and completely annihilating them.
And they can only be hit when they're in use. They're guarded by shields the rest of the time. These systems took years to build and replacing them would cost so much. To add onto that, they would lose the rest of their supply of water." Explaining this made Tokijin depressed and weary.

"The Empire would not supply enough money to keep this base open and shut it down permanently." Avlin knew what she was talking about.

"If the entire base is at risk right now, why would they only send five of us out?" Tyro realized the pressure they were under and he felt everything but confident at the moment.
"Either they have a lot of confidence in us or they realize that sending a lot of pilots out would just be a waste because they'd be shut down anyway." Tokijin sighed. The rebels would be here soon. They were just an easy target to them and Toki didn't like this fact.

"We can do this people. These rebels aren't going to get this base. I'm looking forward to going home, so let's get these damn rebels. They don't realize who they're dealing with." Toki hoped her speech would boost her comrades' confidence. At the moment she was angry and arrogant and she had plenty of both to go around.

It began to sprinkle as fighters came in on Jag's radar. "Hey, here they come." Tokijin smirked. She could feel the rain was on her side in this battle.
"Remember to keep our dogfight away from the villages. They might be far away right now, but keeping this out in the desert is our best bet." Avlin was right. Having a stray missile go anywhere else other than its target was bad.

A crackle of thunder reached the ears of the pilots and the rain began coming down hard.
Just the way I like it.  For Toki, over-confidence was knew for her but if the rain kept up, this battle would be over before it even began.

"Here they come!" Kyle sounded excited. They were all going at a slow speed and keeping close to the ground. Laying low was what they were supposed to do and hopefully no one would decide to be a smart-ass.

As they had predicted the rebels began to steer towards the base's water collector. There were about twenty rebels fighters. The sight of them all made Tokijin lose most of the confidence she had just found.

"Oh crap. Six or seven? The old fat man sure was right wasn't he?" Tokijin mumbled to herself over the comm. She shook her head and spoke with fake confidence. "Does anyone see our signal to engage?"

Tokijin then suddenly heard loud laughter pierce her ears. "I found it!" She turned towards the deserts and saw about seven more of their fighters rise into the air from the sandy fields.

"Now that, my friends is a pretty sight." Kyle seemed to be getting into the whole thing because he was already speeding towards the rebels.

"Here we come!" Tokijin laughed as her confidence restored. She joined Kyle in the run towards victory, her blasters spitting out at the rebels as she neared. She and Tyro began their attack together as Jag and Avlin came in from the side. Their back-up had joined the charge as well. A rebel came out to meet Tokijin as all the other rebels spilt up into their flights, no longer a cluster.

He chased Toki around for a while as she was using some new techniques she had recently learned. She barrel rolled down off to the side as the rebel soon quickly followed, not phased by her moves. She expected him to do that quickly shot straight up in front of her enemy. He kept going forward as she soon took his place at the rear and began an all out assault on him from behind. His shield weren't where they were supposed to be and he soon fell towards the earth and Toki went looking for new prey, smirking proudly.

"I need some help over here!" Jag was being targeted by at least three fighters.
"Ax, I'm on my way." Tokijin soon found out Jag was doing well defensively, he just couldn't get any offensive shots in. Toki targeted his trailers and one left the chase for Jag and steered towards Toki. She went under him at high speeds and turned around quickly to get behind him. She got him. Another prey fell by her hands and if Jag still needed help, she had an idea in mind.

Ax still had his two other opponents and she had an idea. She soon got the attention of one of the rebels and she speed off with him on her tail. "Jag, I have an idea. Used many times, but very effective." "Ok, shoot." She assumed he meant to keep talking. "Start flying towards me and when I say so, you go off to the left, and I'll go to the right and hopefully our little friends will meet." "Sounds good enough. I'm coming."

Toki saw him heading toward her and both they're rebels kept firing, pretty clueless. They began picking up speed, their tails following close behind. She had to time this just right&"Now!" She swerved off to the right and Jag to the left. The rebels quickly collided and a shower of sparks flew everywhere but quickly put out by the rain.

Toki looked around. A lot of the rebels had been beaten and there were about eight left. Her side had lost a couple pilots as well. Their numbers no good against her flight's skill.
