Direct Action A
Special Ops Specialty

Night caressed the plains of Corellia. A breeze ruffled the long grass, causing it to sway gently back and forth, and made the fence rattle softly. Beyond, a uniformed man walked around the edge of a grey, prefab structure and out of sight. As he moved out of sight Stonefish broke cover and ran up to the fence, pulling a pair of wire-cutters from their thigh sheath. He quickly clipped through a dozen links and pulled the wire carefully aside, hoping that any noise would be drowned out by the sound of the wind on the grass. As he got through, the black-clad soldier pushed the fence carefully back into place and ducked into the shadows between two crates left carelessly outside, and settled for a moment.

Another uniformed man walked around the far edge of the building and made his way along the fence, gazing out over the plain, looking for anything to relieve the boredom of a night patrol. Half way along the fence, he paused and leaned back against a crate, drawing a cigarette from his pocket. Shielding the flame against the wind with his hand, the guard lit his cigarette and took a long draw, allowing the smoke out slowly to be whipped away by the breeze. He never even felt the knife as it crunched in through the base of his skull.

Stonefish gently let the corpse to the ground, and quickly stripped it of its uniform. The uniform fit nicely over the black coverall that the Imperial trooper wore, though the belt was a tight fit. He tucked the body into the shadows between the crates and picked up the cigarette. Pausing, he took a drag on it, and threw the smouldering butt over the fence and into the long grass beyond. As the embers died, Stonefish walked off and around the corner of the prefab building and into the base.

The boots made a light clipping noise on the steelcrete floor as Stonefish walked, moving further into the New Republic base, slowly working his way toward the power generators. He checked his chronometer as he walked, knowing that the rest of his unit were working their way toward the base in a stolen supply truck. Knowing that if the turrets at the main entrance were not taken off line, the rest of his unit would be cut to ribbons before they could get inside.

The power generator building lay ahead, a squat grey structure, its only distinguishing feature being the number of overhead cables running to the building. Outside, Stonefish could see six men, in the same green and grey uniforms as the perimeter guards, though these men also wore a scarlet beret, and carried heavier weapons - a mixture of blaster rifles, and assault carbines.

Stonefish paused by a water butt collecting drainage from the roof of a nearby building and pulled another cigarette from the dead guard's pocket. He quickly lit it, and leaned against the barrel taking a long drag. Looking around, he covertly observed the movements of the guards around the power generator building. Watching for an opening. Four of the guards were stood outside the front entrance quietly talking to one another. The remaining two walked around the outside of the low structure, constantly looking around, almost as if they were expecting someone to attack. Stonefish waited a few moments longer, then dropped the butt of his cigarette to the steelcrete and ground out the embers with his boot. He saw something, and needed a different perspective to check it out.

Quickly moving among the buildings, staying out of the pools of light cast by the lamps hung from the tops of the grey walls, Stonefish moved through the base. The few guards moving around the base were easy to evade, or stay away from. The uniform was a good cover at a distance, but would not fool anyone up close. Soon, he was looking at the rear of the power generator building, observing the guards again. A small drain pipe ran down the wall, terminated again by a water butt. The two guards moved past, and as the second turned the corner, Stonefish began silently counting. A full minute passed, and then another, and as the Imperial reached a count of one hundred fifty, the first guard moved back into sight again. Stonefish smiled to himself as he waited for them to move out of sight again. Two and a half minutes gave him more than enough time.

As the second guard moved out of sight again, he sprang into action, dashing across the distance between the shadow and the drain pipe, and scampering up to the roof of the power generator building. The roof was flat, and surrounded by a small wall, allowing Stonefish cover from those patrolling below. Looking around, he saw his entrance into the structure - a vent. He drew a small screwdriver from his kit and went to work, quickly removing the cover and placing it gently aside so as not to alert the guards. It was a tight squeeze, but the Imperial fit down the vent and into the building. Just below the roof level, the vent turned horizontal, moving parallel to the ceiling, with a number of grills evenly spaced along the side. Ahead, a large fan turned languidly, blowing warm air off the generators into Stonefish's face.

Below, Stonefish could see a single tech sitting, staring at a bank of monitors, reaching now and then for a cup on the desk beside her. The grill came silently out of its mountings, and Stonefish pulled it back up into the vent, carefully laying it on the bottom of the metal tunnel. He eased his body out through the opening and dropped the few feet to the floor, landing without a sound. He crept over to the tech's desk, and as he approached, she turned. She was about to say something when the Imperial reached out, and grabbed her head in both hands. A sharp twist and it was all over, her body going limp. Stonefish quickly looked around for somewhere to hide the body. He could see a row of lockers along the far wall, one of which hung open. The body was light and small, and fit easily inside. Stonefish pushed the door closed and the latch shut with a click.

Stonefish walked back over to the console, and withdrew a small datapak from his pocket. He inserted it into the reader and tapped a few buttons, and watched as a timer lit the screen, counting down from one eighty.

"Time to go," he muttered, as an alarm started blaring outside.

The door banged open to the corridor outside, and someone yelled, "Clear!" Booted feet pounded down the corridor. Stonefish drew a concussion grenade from his belt, primed it, and rolled it toward the door. He ducked behind the lockers and drew his silenced pistol from its thigh holster. A thump from behind the wall and a flash through the door opening told Stonefish that the grenade had done its job, and he ducked out into the hall. Two of the scarlet-capped men from outside looked at him, still stunned by the grenade. Stonefish shot each once between the eyes, and they fell to the floor dead. He liberated one of the assault carbines and moved outside. The other four guards had disappeared, Stonefish saw a flash of movement toward a large building in the centre of the base. He felt his chronometer buzz as it reached zero, and knew he had seconds to get away from the power generators before they overloaded. He dashed across the open ground and headed for the main gate to assist the rest of his team in their entry. As he heard the telltale sound of a repulsor vehicle approaching, he was near deafened by the roar of the generators overloading. A flash of light accompanied the roar, and would have blinded him, had he not been looking the other way.

"Well, that turrets are definitely out now."

The alarm died as the power failed, and Stonefish heard confused shouting from the centre of the base. He heard blaster fire from the main gate, and ran in that direction, tying a blue armband around his bicep.

The main gate lay open, the guards dead. Five black-clad men crouched just inside. As they saw him, two turned their weapons.

"Hold your fire," said one, "That's our boy."

"Fish," said another, "Good job. Have you seen the target yet?"

"Negative, sir," replied Stonefish, "CC is the large structure in the centre. Lots of people headed that way when the genny went up."

"Roger that."

By twos, the squad headed into the base, precision fire putting down the sporadic resistance offered to them as they headed toward the Command and Control building.

The main doors were closed, noise could be heard behind them, overturning furniture.

"Breach and clear," said the Squad Leader.

Stonefish pulled a small explosive charge from his belt and attached it to the door by the locking mechanism. The squad drew back, and ducked to either side of the door, ready to fire when the shaped charge blew the door in. Which it did. Blaster bolts were fired into the white smoke left by the charge, and the unit advanced quickly into the building, moving through and clearing each room. The unit paired off, Stonefish heading for the stairs with another trooper. At the top of the stairs, an enemy guard peeked around the corner, and Stonefish gave him a bullet between the eyes for his trouble. With a hand signal, his companion signalled that he would lead the way op the stairs, and that Stonefish should cover him. He creafully edged up, while Stonefish checked left and right for movement. A finger click indicated that the top of the stairs was clear, and Stonefish dashed up behind his comrade.

The Operations Room door was ahead, blocked by overturned desks and filing cabinets. The team reassembled outside. Stonefish was first at the door, and drew a small mirror to peek inside. He saw ten uniformed men, one with rank pips showing him to be a Colonel.

"Ten tangos, target is inside," he reported.

"Flash and clear. Target is to be unharmed. Repeat, unharmed," ordered the Squad Leader.

Two of the squad drew concussion charges and threw them into the room. A double report and several thumps later, the small unit charged in, firing several shots at the guards and fanning out behind computers and filing units.

Stonefish risked a peek out from his cover. Only three guards and the Colonel remained standing. The rest lay on the floor in growing pools of blood. He looked to his Squad Leader who signalled a three count, and the two men broke cover and fired. Three thumps signalled the end of the guards. The black-clad troopers, and Stonefish still in his borrowed uniform, left their cover and approached the Colonel. One of the men drew a tranquiliser gun, and fired it into the Colonel's body. Another withdrew a datapak from a terminal.

"Objective accomplished," said the Squad Leader into his comm, "Unit Echo ready for extraction."

Advanced Map Reading
A Special Forces Specialty Story

"The planet Tadath, I'm sure you know it well," said Rizzit, gesturing toward the image on the holoprojection table.

The table sprung to life with an image of the planet, spinning slowly. Key military features highlighted in red: barracks, defence installations, weapons factories, all glowed like pools of blood welling up on the holographic surface.

"A hostile force has landed in this location," continued the Major, as another area of the surface sprang to life in an azure light, "and our intelligence reports tell us that they are headed toward these space defence batteries to clear the way for a larger invasion force. Your job will be to assess the landscape for all possible tactical advantages and weak points so we can deploy our forces accordingly."

"Got it," replied Sergeant Major Stonefish, nodding grimly. Even though he knew that the scenario was false, just another test of his knowledge, another problem for him to solve to the best of his abilities. Still, his ambition depended on his passing this test, and all the rest that still lay ahead, and with this thought, he set about the task of planning his stratagem.

Heh, thought Rizzit as he walked from the room, with a frown like that, you'd think his whole world had ended.

The land between the invading force's location and the defence batteries was as vast as it was varied, with everything from forests to a small desert and everything in between, even a few smaller towns dotted around. The obvious approach was via the direct route, though this added the difficulty of passing either through or over the large evergreens of the forest. This would be negated if the invading force were using hover vehicles, though the added fuel usage would reduce drastically their operational value in the assault afterwards.

The flattest route was the most circuitous, passing many miles to the west, around the forest, and along the edges of the small desert on the western edge of the assigned area, this also added fuel problems, purely on the overall length of the route.

If the enemy had decent intelligence, they would know exactly what awaited them at the defence batteries, and would also know that they would need any vehicles operational for as long as humanly possible. Which left one viable route from the landing zone to the target - east of the forest, through a series of foothills and small canyons, passing through the town of Jezad's Ford to cross the river, and a straight shot south across rolling plains. Not the most tactically advantageous approach, unless they intended to achieve air superiority, and land a large armoured force. So this, Stonefish surmised is what they would be doing.

Stonefish zoomed the map in on the series of canyons, noting the layout, and the box-ends that they had to pass by to reach their destination. A number of places on the map looking promising for sappers to plant charges and bring down a few tons of rock on the column, and others looked like good locations for ambushes, or surface-to-air missile batteries. Still thinking hard, he started tapping on the keypad, and lights appeared on the holo-display, glowing like neon balls on the plane of battle.

Part-way through, Stonefish stopped, thinking things through again. He knew that the enemy commanders would have thought this through thoroughly to make such a bold move on a well-held planet, why would they fall for such obvious traps as landslides and ambushes? Looking more closely at the terrain, Stonefish saw the plains in a new light. Gently rolling savannah, an armour commander's dream, could quickly turn to a nightmare with the proper deployment of tank-traps, pits, trenches and small heavy-weapon teams. And a further armoured force secreted away to the north could roll down the canyons behind them and push them through the cheese-grater out on the plains.

Unit names and designations changed as the glowing markers flew across the map and cycled colours to their new assignment. A few moments later, and Stonefish looked at his plan and grimaced. He new he had done the best he could, but that he was making some major assumptions. Sighing, he turned and reached for the comm. as Rizzit walked up.

"Ready?" the Major asked.

"Yeah, was just about to call you," replied Stonefish.

"Go ahead then."

"Okay, if my guess is right, they'll be going for air superiority to cover an armoured advance through these canyons on their way south, and across the plains to their target. If we can arrange a few rudimentary explosive traps quickly in the northern canyons, that will slow their advance enough for us to evacuate and sabotage Jezad's Ford. To the east, here, we will have a large armoured force of our own lurking in these box-canyons, covered by camo-netting, and waiting for the enemy force to pass here. Out on the plains, we will set up tank-traps, minefields, and other assorted nastiness, with anti-air batteries in the mix to stop them just flying over. We allow them free passage to the plains, which we make our killing ground. To begin with, we allow them the relatively flat ground at the north edge, pulling back to this area here, where the rock sinks, and the surface is made of peat, just right for trenches and other landscaping to conceal heavy-weapons teams, and engineers. As they reach this area, our armoured force drops down from the north, using what is now their advantage of nice, flat open ground to manoeuvre while the opposing force is bogged down."

"An interesting plan, Fish. I'll get back to you in a few hours," was Rizzit's only response.

Combat Engineer Training
Basic Electronics/Wiring

Alasse awoke and rubbed her eyes before she remembered where she was. Today was the day she began her training. Not wanting to be late, she hurriedly dressed and headed down to the Stormtrooper Academy, the one academy where every stormtrooper received their training. Droid R3 came forward and said,

""Welcome to Stormtrooper Academy. Follow me and I will lead you to your class.""

Alasse nodded and soon they had reached a classroom. She could hear several voices talking inside.

""Go on in. Your teacher will be there shortly."" Droid R3 said and went off

Alasse opened the door and stepped in. There were a couple of other students already inside there, all awaiting their training. She sat down on a nearby empty seat and waited patiently. It wasn't long before the door was flung open and in stepped a middle-aged man.

""Good morning students. Today, I will be teaching you all the basics on electronics and wiring. Now, if you all will just take out your datapad and hook it onto the main system, I will transfer the basic information in there. Then I will begin with the explanation of..."

Alasse took out her datapad and within seconds, all data required for the class was in and recorded. Still not wanting to miss out on all any pointers, she listened attentively throughout the class.

---- 2 hours later----

Alasse had completed the basic electronics and wiring class and was currently waiting for her turn at the final test. She passed the time by going through everything she learnt in her head. Time seemed to go by slowly and she started drumming her fingers on the table.

""Beep! Beep! Incoming message." "

Alasse was startled and looked over at her datapad. She clicked "Open message" and her trainer's face came into view.

""PFC Alasse, report for your final test immediately.""

Alasse nodded and switched off her datapad before rushing off to the Stormtrooper Academy.

----At Stormtrooper Academy----

She stepped cautiously through the main doors and Droid R3 greeted her there again.

""Welcome back to Stormtrooper Academy, Alasse. Please follow me this way.""

Alasse followed the Droid through several hallways till they reached a simulator, where her trainer was standing, waiting.

""Good morning Sir"" said Alasse, saluting him.

""Good morning PFC Alasse."" He began with a formal greeting. ""Today we will test you on basic electronics and wiring. You will enter this simulator where once inside you will find yourself in an escape pod with four others. The wires have been burnt, causing the system to shut down. You need to fix it before the pod crashes into an unknown planet nearby. You must not delay in the process and you have 30 minutes to complete this task. Here is all the necessary equipment needed. Good luck.""{

Alasse received a backpack and with a nod from her trainer, walked into the simulator. "Begin simulation." commanded her trainer.

----In the simulator---

She found herself in complete darkness. ""The wires must have affected the lighting as well."" She muttered to herself as she fished through her backpack and retrieved a torchlight. She looked around and spotted the main control panel. She quickly made her way there. Then, she took a screwdriver and unscrewed the paneling. Smoke arose from within. ""Yikes, they really are badly burnt."" She said as she used her hand to fan the smoke away. She shone the light in and crouched down to examine the situation. Two red wires had to be replaced and two blue wires had to be reconnected.

Working quickly, she put on a pair of protective goggles to protect her eyes from the smoke. Using one hand to hold her torch, she pulled out the two red wires with the other. Sparks flew as she did, burning her finger. ""Ouch! Darn wires."" She pulled her hand away from the wires. She noticed a pair of gloves in the pocket of the backpack and put them on. "I wonder why I didn't see them earlier." She muttered. Retrieving two spare wires from her backpack, she plugged them in and the lights flickered. "Almost there." She muttered to herself.

Next, Alasse took out a pair of pliers and snipped off the burnt ends of the blue wires. She shone her light over her watch to check the time. 10 minutes to go. "She wound the ends of the wires together tightly and the lights came on. She looked out of the window to see that the planet was close by and a voice within the pod went, ""Now conducting planetary life support survey."" Alasse was then fully reassured that the system was back and working. She gave a sigh of relief.

----Back with her trainer----

*Click*

The simulator was turned off and Alasse came face to face with her trainer once more. ""Very good Alasse. Task completed in 26 minutes. You will receive your test results tomorrow." "
""Thank you Sir."" Alasse responded.
Then, with the help of Droid R3, she made her way back to the main doors and headed home.

----The next morning----

""Beep! Beep! Incoming message.""

Alasse was feeling excited as she clicked "open message". Her report was displayed on the screen.

Name: Alasse Wzalsin
Specialty: Combat Engineering
Task completed in 26 minutes.
Results: Passed

"Congratulations PFC Alasse! You have passed your test. Please proceed to your next training class on Electrical Systems tomorrow. Enjoy today's rest."

Alasse grinned and did a little victory dance. Her first test was over but there were many more But for today, some rest would be good. She flopped back down on her bed.

Comments: I must say for a first attempt this was quite impressive. This is something that troopers usually have difficulty with. Congratulations, you may go ahead and begin the next story. Keep in mind for the future though: I'd like to see more done as far as the hands on stuff goes. You have more classroom stuff than anything, I'd like to see something of equal length if not more Also don't be afraid to go into great detail: you started to in this story, and I'd like to see you continue that.

Fire Support Tactics

"Private First Class Aron Krog, reporting for training, sir!"

"Private First Class Kyeron D'Ina reporting for training, sir!"

"Private..." And so it went on until all of the trainees had reported in for duty.  Except for one.

"Private First Class Maxx Cynn, reporting for training sir."  Maxx said to the instructor, standing at the front of the class.  The instructor, Major Clast, was a grizzled old man with one arm.  He spoke in a rough, low voice that was sometimes hard to understand.  Unless he was screaming at you.

"Alright kids, this is your first taste of what it is to be the most badass trooper in the galaxy.  Some of you will not make it, most of you will be injured, and all of you will have a damn good time blowing NR equipment and troops to pieces." Clast boomed out a laugh and smacked one of the troopers sitting at front on the back with his good arm, knocking the wind out of him.  Clast then walked over to his desk, and pressed a button on his keypad.  A large screen came down, and the lights dimmed.  "Ok, this is the theory part of the course.  Follow the instructions on your keypads, and I'll be back when you are finished.  This stuff bores me."  Clast left, and the class got down to work.

Maxx did his work in silence.  The screen showed different types of turrets and fixed gun emplacements that they would be using in their practical testing.  He studied maximum ranges, power output, rate of fire and so on.  He then studied the various tactics for suppression and fire support.  He realized that he was looking forward to blasting some NR scum, and when finished with his key pad, he visualized sitting in one of the turrets, vapourizing enemy tanks and infantry.  The lights came on and Clast came back in.

"Now, if you would all give me your keypads for grading, and head down to the live fire area.  Have fun grunts!" Clast said, as troopers gave him their pads.  The class headed down to the barge that would take them to the live fire range.  Some of Maxx's classmates mixed and mingled, but they stayed away from Maxx.  And that was just fine with him.

The barge took them from the main academy to a large deserted area near an old mining outpost.  Maxx thought that it would be the perfect area for training, with both urban and wide open areas to practice on.  The barge stopped at a large building and unloaded the troopers.  They marched over to the building and entered.  Their training officer guided them to the main staging area.  Grouping the class mates into teams, he instructed them that they would alternate between firing and target recognition.  Maxx was teamed up with a short man, Kyeron D'Ina.  He wondered how this trooper had survived basic.

"Hi there Cynn.  You ready to rock?" D'Ina said, obvious nervousness in his voice.  "Uh, you can shoot first."  D'Ina grinned and walked over to where they would do their exercise.  Maxx climbed into the Heavy Blaster Turret and jacked in, bringing up the HUD.  He checked to see that his radio connection with target control (the training instructor) and with D'Ina were a go.

"Delta 2, reporting all systems go." Maxx said, as the other trainees called in their status.

Target control came online and gave out the instructions to the class.  "All trainees power up and ready for live fire exercise.  Starting in T-Minus 10 seconds."  The time counted down from ten and Maxx readied himself, adrenaline flowing. Maxx checked to see that their own droids, who would be simulating their squad had powered up as well. Then the siren went and the exercise had begun.  And nothing happened.

"What's going on Cynn?" D'Ina said, obvious worry entering his voice.  The trainees waited patiently.  Suddenly, what seemed like hundreds (though was really less than fifty) of combat speeders, droids simutaing infantry, and repulsor tanks cleared a slope in front of him.
Maxx came over the radio yelling: "Fire at will, fire at will!"  D'Ina sprung into action as simulated blaster fire came at the trainees.  The droids simulating their squad fired at the advancing army, as they advanced to their forward defensive trenches.  D'Ina gave Maxx targets as fast as Maxx fired the cannon.  Aiming at an advancing group of droids, Maxx squeezed the trigger, taking out three.  More enemy contact came through.  The radio filed with instructions for gunners.  A simulated laser blast hit one of the turrets and it shut down "killing" both the gunner and spotter.  Maxx took out the tank that had fired the blast and turned his cannon on a pair of speeders rapidly advancing.  One of his blasts opened up a hole in the main drive, and the vehicle spun itself into the other, making a large explosion.  More and more wreckage piled up in front of the turrets, but casualties were also mounting.  Soon it was down to just Maxx and D'Ina, along with a small amount of their squad left in their defensive posts.  Still firing at targets, Maxx saw a tank turn its gun on the squad and prepare to fire.  D'Ina came over the radio.

"Cynn, take out the troop carrier on the left flank.  Something's up with it!"

Maxx noticed that the enemy forces seems to be grouped around the troop carrier, and hit it with a blast that in turn hit the reactor, starting a chain reaction that took it out, along with troops advancing around it.  The tank's gun powered down suddenly, as did the rest of the droids and speeders.  Puzzled, Maxx kept on blasting taking out lifeless droids and vehicles, when suddenly, his weapon powered down.

Target control came over the radio.
"Very well done Private D'Ina.  Your recognition of the mobile command vehicle won the engagement.  Nice shooting as well. Private Cynn.  You both pass.  Your next lesson will take place tomorrow at 0630 sharp.  Take the barge back to HQ and good luck with the rest of your training."

Maxx climbed out of the turret, realizing he was bone tired.  He looked at D'Ina, who looked worse for the wear and walked over to him.
"Nice job D'Ina.  Looks like I owe you one."  Maxx stuck out his hand and D'Ina took it.

"Thanks.  You can buy me a drink back at HQ.  Now, I just want a nice nap." They walked back to the barge, where the rest of the trainees had already been waiting.  They complemented the two, and the long ride back to HQ seemed a lot shorter.

    *    *    *    *
Maxx filed his report in his room for Major Rizzit and sent it informing of completion of the first lesson.  He then lay on his bunk, and contemplated the rest of training, before falling into a restful sleep.

Comments: Very good first attempt. I must say that I am impressed!  One minor note: I am not your commanding officer. I coordinate the specialties only. Still a good job, you may start the next one.

Combat Engineer Training
Electrical Systems

""Come on Alasse. Wake up!"" she said, as she tried to prepare herself for her next training course. But her eyes kept threatening to close. As a last resort, she decided to try putting ice on her face. ""AHH! Cold! Cold! Very cold!"" she shivered as the freezing temperature shook her awake. ""Well at least I'm awake now."" She was definitely not an early bird.

Alasse had updated her training record on her datapad yesterday. With the completion of her first course, she was now all set to continue!

""Beep! Incoming message.""

The message consisted of her training schedule and was displayed on the screen of her datapad. There were no lessons required this time since the information could be easily transferred over to her datapad. Only simulator tests, two of them. And her first one began in 10 minutes. In a panic, Alasse stuffed her datapad and other training items into her black backpack and rushed off to the Stormtrooper Academy.

----At the Academy----

""You have arrived just on time. Please follow me."" Droid R3 told her as she practically flew through the main door. She gave a huge sigh of relief and followed the droid as he led her back to the simulator she was in before. And as before, there stood her trainer.

"Good morning Sir." Alasse greeted.

""Welcome back PFC Alasse. With the passing of your previous test, we will now move on. Today, we begin your training course on electrical systems. Once in the simulator, you will find yourself in an enemy base. Your task is to enter their computer systems and retrieve all information for the Corps. Of course, your previous lesson will come into use. You will find out more when inside. You have a time limit of 30 minutes. Good luck." He said as he motioned for her to enter the simulator.

---In the simulator---

Alasse found herself in the enemy base. There were tons of computers around her. "This must be where they record their information."" The light was dim but she could still see. Remembering her mission, she quickly switched on one of the computers. "Please enter the password," went the computer. She stared at the screen. ""Of course, a password would be needed. How dumb of me. I guess this is part of my training." She said to herself.

She retrieved her datapad and wiring kit from her backpack and opened the monitor with her screwdriver. ""My gosh, there are a lot of wires in this. This looks complicated."" She said as she looked at the mass of red, blue, green and yellow wires. Scanning the monitor with her datapad, she managed to get the entire computer wiring system. After the process of identifying a few important wires and a few scans, she found that in order for her to get the password, she has to cut that blue wire and this red wire and connect them before cutting another yellow wire which would be plugged into her datapad.

Immediately, she took out her pliers and was about to cut the blue wire when she thought of something. "Won't alarms start ringing when I cut the wires? There might be a security chip in the CPU. Might as well check. No harm in doing so."" She quickly opened the CPU and scanned it with her datapad. She was right. That tiny blue chip in the CPU was a security chip. Lucky for her, she had thought of it. If not, she was bound to fail this mission. Without a moment's hesitation, she took a pair of knives and broke the chip from the CPU. She put the CPU back into the monitor.

She cut the blue wire with her pliers and to her relief, no alarms sounded. Everything was as quiet as before. She then continued to cut the red wire and connected the two wires together. Then she cut the yellow wire and plugged it into her connection point in her datapad. She waited as her datapad retrieved the password. ""Yes! There it is. The password is 'Alert.'"" Immediately, Alasse typed it in and to her glee, '"Access Granted'" flashed in big red letters on the screen. Quickly, she opened several files and found many enemy plans and records in them. But there was no time to read them now. She slipped in a diskette and copied all the information into it.

Pulling it out from the hard drive, she stored everything back into her backpack and exclaimed, "Mission Accomplished! "

----Back with her trainer---

The simulator went off and Alasse came out, still holding the diskette and her backpack.

""Good Alasse. You completed that task in 23 minutes. Return back in two hours. Keep the diskette. It will be essential for your next and final test for this course."" He said.

""Yes, Sir!"" Alasse gave a salute and went off, diskette in hand.

----Two hours later----

Alasse was back in the simulator room.

""Hello again. I do hope you're ready. You will find yourself back in enemy base again. Now with the information in hand, you need to reach the main control room. Your task is to open the main doors of the base to allow your fellow Stormtroopers in. Here is a blaster used only in simulation, just in case you meet any simulated enemies. I wish you good luck." Her trainer said as he passed Alasse a blaster.

"Begin simulation." He commanded.

---In the simulator---

Alasse was back in the computer room. Moving quietly so as not to attract attention, she flipped open her datapad and accessed the map of the enemy base. Datapad in one hand and blaster in the other, she walked down the empty hallways, turning direction every once in a while. ""Let's see, turn right here. Then left here. Then..." She heard footsteps echoing down the corridor on the right and stopped, pressing herself against the wall. Her instinct told her that there was only one enemy there. She breathed in and out deeply before jumping out into the hallway in view of the enemy and shot him with her blaster. He fell over and lay on the ground stunned. ""Whew. Now got to move on."" She said to herself.

"Another turn here and yes there it is." She had finally reached the main control room. Putting her ear to the door for precaution, she could hear a person walking around inside. With her datapad, she found the code for the door and unlocked it. Immediately, the enemy inside turned and faced her. Her blaster was all positioned in place and she fired at the enemy, making sure that she did not hit any of the controls. The enemy bowled over and lay still on the ground. The door closed behind her and she walked in. The room was empty all except for a card slot on a wall. She hurriedly went over to the guy she had fired at and checked his pockets. She found an ID card and slotted it in.

'Access granted.'" The card was ejected and the wall opened itself to reveal a big control system, controlling everything in the enemy base. She tried to open the doors with the controls but it didn't work. """Damn it, they must be jammed."" She would have to go down personally to open them. With a few quick searches, she found the wiring system that controlled the main doors and copied it to her datapad. She located a yellow wire that would open the door. She hurriedly slipped out of the control room and went to the main doors. It was a long distance away and she met several enemies, blasting at each and every one.

At the main doors, she took off the paneling of the unit that controlled the doors. She searched quickly among the wires but there were so many. ""Which is it?"" she muttered as she took out her datapad and quickly matched each wire to their position. Her enemies were now alerted of her presence. ""Oh no! Come on Alasse, you can do it!"" She became frantic, dodging a few shots from her enemies. ""Got it!" With her pliers, she snipped the wire and the doors slowly opened, allowing her fellow stormtroopers to come in and fend off the enemies.

""Yes! Mission accomplished!""Alasse jumped for joy as one Stormtrooper after another streamed into the enemy base.

----Back with her trainer----

""End simulation."" He commanded. ""Good job, Alasse. Completed in 50 minutes. You will receive your results tomorrow.""

""Yes Sir. Thank you Sir."" She said and returned to her room.

----Next day---

""Beep! Incoming message.""

Her test results were here! Quickly, Alasse opened the message and her results came into view.

Indirect Fire Operations

When Maxx got to class the next morning, he found that he was alone.  He checked his chronometer, and found that it was in fact 0630, time for the next course to start.  Then, a voice came over the Comm.

"PFC Cynn.  You are to report to training simulator 2210 Alpha immediately for Indirect Fire Operations."  Maxx left the class and walked quickly to the simulator, passing a few superiors on the way.  He gave a hurried salute, and kept on walking, hoping conversation didn't start.  For one thing he would be late, and another, he couldn't be bothered with mindless chatter.  He finally reached the sim room and walked in, again to find himself alone.  The door behind him shut.  Again, the voice over the Comm echoed in the room.

"PFC Cynn, strap in to the Sim system and prepare for instructions."
Maxx walked over to the padded chair in the center of the room and put on the helmet and gloves used for the simulation.  All was dark, until a light almost blinded him.  When he could see again, he could make out other troopers.  He found that he himself was in the white armour of the stormtrooper.  He looked out over the vast plain they were standing, and saw 50 more recruits, who were training to become normal stormtroopers.
The comm in his helmet told him that today would be a tandem exercise involving all of the trooper recruits, from medics, to combat engineers, and so on.  Maxx and his HWS classmates would provide artillery fire for the advancing troopers.  Spotters at the front would give them firing instructions.

A stream of instructions came over the comm. "Today's objective is to repel the attacking force, and counterattack to their firebase, thus ending the threat of attack in this sector.  The time limit is 4 hours from start to finish.  All troopers ready yourselves, and good luck."

Maxx was assigned to a heavy blaster cannon situated high up on a hill.  He had a vantage point over the whole battlefield, and saw as the troopers on the plain were readying themselves for the skirmish.  They were supported by a few tanks, but were still only a small force.  It would take precise coordination for the battle to be won.  Maxx climbed into the turret and awaited instruction.  The countdown in his helmet started at T-Minus 10 seconds.  As it counted down, the adrenaline started to flow again, and the rush cascaded over him.  When the alert sounded, what looked like a full troop of NR marines rounded the hill top, supported by the usual complement of tanks and speeders.  But this time, nothing that looked like a mobile command center.  Suddenly, Maxx's sensors shut down.

"Now the exercise begins for you Heavy Weapons Specialists.  The Republic is using sensor jamming, which means you are blind.  The only way for you to know what is happening is for you to receive instruction from your spotters at the front.  Friendly fire is an automatic fail."  And then it was just Maxx and his radio.  Rapid calls came in requesting assistance.  There was so much chatter, and it was hard to follow, but he got used to it.

"Request fire at vector 18, 47.  24 degrees."  Maxx lined up his cannon and fired three quick blasts.  "Target destroyed.  Next target vector..." and so it continued.  Soon enough, the spotters reported that the attack was repelled and that they were continuing on to the firebase.  Maxx continued to fire at the retreating enemy force.  He checked the mission timer, and found that there was only an hour left.  He had been firing mindlessly for 3 hours.  Another transmission came over the comm.

"Now you and your spotters must work together flawlessly.  The attack on the base is about to commence.  The defences must be dispatched as soon as possible.  Prepare to receive firing instructions."  Maxx then got barraged with more radio transmissions, but he was now used to it.  He kept squeezing the trigger, and kept getting hit confirmations.  He checked again and found there to be 20 minutes left.  He just kept firing, until the transmissions slowed down, and finally stopped.

"Objective secure.  Fire base has been taken.  All batteries, cease fire.  Repeat, all batteries cease fire."  Maxx's sensors came back online, and he saw first hand the destruction that he and his classmates had caused.  There were smoking tanks and speeders, soldiers with limbs missing or faces burned off.  And in the distance he saw the smoking remains of the fire base.  Maxx smiled, knowing he had done a good job.  Climbing out of the turret, Maxx found himself sitting back in the chair in the sim room.  He took off the helmet and gloves and shook himself out.

The comm boomed one more time.  "PFC Cynn.  Report to debriefing to analyze the battle and find your score."  So Maxx headed down to the briefing room.  He was still blown away that the whole thing had taken less that 10 minutes.  He could get a lot of training done that way.  If his body could take it that is.  When he got in the room he found himself back with those classmates who had passed the previous day's work.  He found an open seat and watched as a screen and holo-generator came out of the ceiling and floor, respectively.  Instructor Clast then walked in.

"Morning troops.  Today's simulation showed us how well you work under pressure.  We also made sure that you could follow instructions and work under adverse battle conditions.  Most of you did an excellent job.  Others...well they weren't invited to our little viewing here." Clast boomed out another one of his now trademark laughs.  "Please turn your attention to the hologram.  Just watch and learn."  The image showed the battle from a side view.  Maxx watched as the opposing army advanced.  Amazingly, the troops at the base of the hill didn't even move to intercept, or fire their weapons.  They just stood there.  Then the turret started to rain fire down on the enemy.  Maxx saw as tanks, soldiers, and the ground they were on was blown to pieces.  Clast forwarded it, but maxx was still amazed that the troops they were supporting still hadn't moved.  Soon enough the opponent started to retreat after taking heavy losses.  Finally, the troops moved forward as the enemy backtracked.  Still, the turrets fired, taking out more of the enemy.  It was a massacre.  When the turrets fired on the fire base, there weren't any enemy troops to defend it and the defences were dispatched quickly.  The final part of the holo-image showed the troops simply walking into the base and securing it.  They hadn't even fired a shot!  The lights came back on and the image faded.  Clast went back to the front of the room.

"And thus, using superior tactics, you just repelled an attack, countered, and won the battle, all without a single casualty.  This exercise showed the value of trust, between troops and their support.  This is often how battles with small pockets of raiders are dealt with.  Congratulations, you all pass."  The troops filed out of the room, but before he could leave, Clast came up to Maxx.

"Private Cynn.  You were very impressive out there today.  Your ability to follow instructions without question is valuable to the Empire.  Keep it up."  Clast then left.  Maxx had never been complemented before.  He could never live up to the high expectations of his father, but he always tried.  Now, he felt appreciated.  Maxx left the room with a rare smile on his face and headed back to his room.  He quickly filed a report for Fish and layed back in his bunk.  He replayed everything that had went on, and fell asleep, smiling.

Heavy weapons training: Lesson 1

Tye Lask woke up, for his first day of heavy weapons training. He did some push-ups and different exercises. Then, pulled on the black jump suite with a white Imperial insignia on the back, which the soldiers wore to class.  He took out a hologram imager of the training camp and found how to get to his classroom. On the way to his class he was stared at by other trainees relaxing in the halls. His orange/red pupils always attracted attention of onlookers.
When he finally got to class, the door opened and he took a seat near the back of class to avoid the attraction of his eyes. He was early and one of the few in the classroom at the time. The other trainees were looking at their datapads and looking at the various weapons that they will learn to use. Gradually, the class filled and some troops bragged at their skills with the E-11 carbine in basic training. Tye knew could tell they were all lying, but didn't say anything.
Finally, the instructor entered and the class silenced. He had white hair and black devilish eyes. He didn't seem like a nice person. Tye was starting to like him. Once he got to his desk he instructed the troops to take out their datapads- "Listen up ladies! This ain't no playground or just tiny pieces of crap you fired in your basic training! Take out your data pods and have a look at what this fire power can do!"
He transferred a video image of a Stormtrooper with a HMG blowing a training speeder in to a small pile of rubble and ash. "It can shoot four shots a second!" yelled the instructor, which seemed to be his regular voice. "It can easily get through thin durasteel in seconds and even through a regular Rebel A-wing deflector shields. It is the one of the best ground weapons use in the Empire."
"Now, look at your datapads again. Here are the assembling steps and controls which are use for the HMG. Study it well, because I'm about to show you little boys how to use it in our training simulator. Suit up in your armor and report back to this room!"
Tye and the rest of the troops ran back to their rooms and suited up quickly, in the fear of the consequences of being late.

        --minutes later--
Tye was one of the first soldiers back. However, the last two back had to do forty push-ups in their suites with ten pounds weights on their backs. After the gruesome scene of over-worked soldiers, they all followed the instructor in perfect marching order. They all got to a large door with a coding panel on the side. The instructor typed a code fast and the door opened. Inside, was a very large room with hologram projectors on the ceiling. There was a large row of unassembled HMG's.
"You all have one minute to assemble your chosen HMG, starting&&now!"
The troops rushed to a pile of gun parts, in response of the unsuspected order. They all didn't really know how to assemble the HMG very well, because they didn't get to study it long enough.
Tye tried the best he could to remember. 'This looks like the top of the gun, so I'll put on this main part.' Tye slided the two parts together. He then found other parts that fitted together. He was always good at puzzles. He then somehow put the whole thing together and attached the tri-pod. Tye pushed a button on the side of the assembled HMG and it activated. He was ready to fire!
Seconds later, the instructor yelled. Time was up. About half the soldiers were not finished. "For those of you who have failed, will have to retake this training course. For now, stand in the back and watch the real soldiers fight!" All of the troops did as instructed.
"Now, for those who have accomplished will have to fight off the holographic enemies. Your guns have live ammo, so don't screw up!"
Immediately, all kinds of Rebel forces seemed to be marching right toward them. Tye perfectly timed the shots so that the gun wouldn't over heat, like so many soldiers forgot to do. He shot at a small line of rebel foot soldiers. The lasers spread out wildly and all the enemies in the way fell to the ground. Tye waited a couple seconds, so his gun could cool down.
An X-wing fighter was flying overhead and Tye commanded for the others to fire at it; "Shot down the X-wing it's comin' right at us!" With Tye's command the fighter didn't have a chance. He aimed his gun toward a small group of Rebel soldiers. Tye shot some down with a swift pull of the trigger. Another X-wing came straight towards Tye. He took down its shields as it came around for another pass. This time it wasn't so lucky, Tye and another troop next to him shot it right in the engines and it made a large explosion.
As the fighting went on, the instructor came by and commented on there techniques. Tye heard him talking to a man near him; "don't fire at individual foot soldiers, shoot for more important vehicles." He came over to Tye and looked at the holographic scene. He stayed a minute, and then went to the next troop.
    --5 minutes later--
"Mission accomplished!" yelled the instructor. The holograms turned off immediately. "You all have succeeded in holding off the Rebels."
Tye was just glad that the day of training was over. The instructor told all the troops to go and get a good sleep, because tomorrow they would get a different teacher and learn how to use thermal detonator. Tye hurriedly got back to his room and fell asleep right after he took off his gear, not to here the message that he passed his first lesson on heavy weapons training.

Precision Range Shooting

Maxx woke up and got dressed.  He immediately got a call over the comm, instructing all level 1 HW troop trainees to head to the range for live fire exercises.  Maxx headed down to the main range, and when he got there, he fell in with the rest of the class.  Clast then walked onto the range with a datapad.

"Alright ladies, today's exercise will test your ability to kill, and kill more.  We will be using what will become your closest friend over your career."  Clast walked over to a table set up with various munitions, weapons and the like.  He picked up a blaster rifle.

"This is the E-11 Imperial Blaster Rifle.  This has the power to take life, and will do it if instructed in that fashion.  It's not much good at anything else, but it does a hell of a job at what it does.  It never questions orders, doesn't need training.  These are powerful pieces of equipment, but are in fact useless.  That is, until a trooper uses it.  So, you see you are useless without the E-11, and the E-11 is useless without you.  From now on you are soul mates."  Clast then placed the gun back on the table.

"When you receive your rifle, you will name it and keep it safe.  It will keep you safe too."  Clast then had the class line up to receive their weapons.  "Now in basic, I know that your fired these and are familiar in the aspects of close combat using them.  Any bantha can kill someone standing 10 meters away, but it takes a well trained trooper to kill a moving target, in the dark, in the rain and fog, while under fire and from 50+ meters away.  Oh and the target is a crazed Ewok."  That got laughs from the class, even Maxx.  After the class had received their rifles, Clast instructed them to take up their positions.  Maxx started the exercise standing up.  The first sets of targets were stationary and only 25 meters away.  After the instructions to fire at will were given, Maxx aimed at the kill zone (central body mass) and blew a smoking hole in it.

Clast then told them to stop firing.  He pointed out the targets.  "We tell you to aim at the central body mass because in most species, the main organs are located there.  As you go along in your career, you will be briefed about the physiology of alien species, but for now we willsuppose that the kill zone is right through the sternum."  Clast then instructed them to take positions, this time kneeling.  The next targets were 25 meters away, but moved from left to right in a random pattern.  Maxx aimed and fire off two shot in quick succession, on hitting the "leg" of the target, the other in the kill zone.  Clast then explained more and more about the E-11's history and so on, but from now on it would be just straight aim and fire.  As the day progressed, the class got more and more confident using their weapons.  The Clast threw in a curve ball.

"Troops!  Remember how I said that you must learn to kill a crazed Ewok, under fire, from 50 meters, at night and in the rain."  Everyone in the class suddenly got worried, thinking they would have to do the same.  "Well you won't have to worry about that today."  Clast laughed as the class let out a collective sigh.  "But you will have to kill from long distance.  Effective range for the E-11 is 300 meters.  And we will test that.  Troopers, ready!"  Clast stepped off and the lights suddenly went out.  Maxx switched on his thermal, knowing the night vision would blind him as he fired.  He aimed at the target, and using his helmet's zoom, calculated the angle to kill zone.  Blast then fired all around him, most missing, some hitting non-vital parts.  When they shot, his thermals lit up so he could see the target, and he squeezed off three rounds.  One missed, one hit the killzone, one would have turned the face of the enemy into soup.  After a few targets like this, the exercise ended, and Maxx took off his helmet.  Clast came up to them one more time.

"Report back to your quarters for you score.  Tomorrow is gonna be tough, so get a good night's rest.  Dismissed."
The class saluted as they left, and headed back to their rooms.  A lot of the recruits were nervous about their scores, but Maxx had a quiet confidence.  Getting back to his room, Maxx checked his score and found that he indeed had tied for the high score in the class, a 92 % accuracy.  The other trooper was someone he didn't recognize, but Maxx didn't care.  He just laid back on his bunk and slept.

Combat Engineer Training
Field Fortifications

----At the Academy (field)----

Alasse followed her trainer as he led the whole class out into the field at the back of Stormtrooper Academy. This field was programmed by the Academy and its landscape or weather could be changed at the will of the trainers.

""Good afternoon class! You are now attending the course on Field Fortifications,"" Her trainer said them all. "There are always times when troopers need to set up base camp outdoors. That's when you come in. Your task now is to set up camp for your squad, making it as sturdy, as camouflaged as possible. There is however, just one catch."" He grinned and pressed a couple of buttons on his datapad.

The field changed. No longer was it an empty field, for it was now a forest. A roaring wind blew leaves onto their faces and heavy rain pelted down on them. Around them, all was dark. Alasse started to tremble in the cold weather.

""This will be the conditions you have to work in. Each of you have been given a designated area in which you will set up camp. You will find the location on your datapad. All the supplies you need have been stored in these backpacks. You have an hour to complete your task. I wish you all good luck."" He screamed over the roaring wind and gestured to a pile of bags on the ground beside him.

Her trainer gave the command to begin. Alasse rushed forward to grab a pack and opened it. The rain was causing her clothes to stick to her skin. Quickly, she found a torchlight and switched it on. She felt very cold but there was no time to delay. Flipping open her datapad and shining the light on it to see, she heaved the backpack onto her shoulders before rushing off to her designated area. Her hair stuck to her face as the cold rain continued to fall on her.

"Beep. Location reached." Her datapad sounded.

She proceeded to put down the heavy pack and checked what supplies she had, recording everything down on her datapad. There were a couple of brown canvas sheets, string, a knife and other things. With her torchlight, she checked her surroundings. There was a small open space in front of her and a big old-looking tree on her right. Many more trees surrounded her. Alasse stared at the big old tree, then to the supplies and then back to the old tree. An idea popped into her head. What if she used the old tree as a shelter? She could hollow out the base and she estimated around 3 people could fit inside it. Besides, the tree could protect them better than a tent would.

""Why not?"" she muttered to herself. There was an axe in the backpack and one part of the tree was already decaying, the wood crumbling away easily. It would be easy to hollow it out. She put her torch on the ground, angling it to face the tree so she could see. With her bare hands, she dug away the decayed wood, making a respectable dent in the tree. She brushed away her wet hair from her face. The rain and wind was making conditions worse for her. Though the supplies stayed dry in the pack, she was completely soaked as it continued to rain cats and dogs. Using her axe to hack at the tree, bits of wood flew all over the place and some nearly into her eyes. She needed to protect them.

She grabbed a pair of goggles from her pack and put it on. Now neither rain, leaves nor wood could attack her eyes. She continued to hack at the tree. Luckily, this was a birch tree and the wood was easier to chop. It wasn't long before she had created a hole in the tree for the 'door'. She stopped to take a rest, taking deep breathes to regain her strength. ""Whew, this is hard work."" Raising her ax again, she chopped at the tree again, causing bits of wood to fall to the ground. She made extra care that she did not chop too much of it or else the tree would become unsteady.

After another 35 minutes, she had successfully managed to hollow out the base of the tree. Wiping the dirt from her hands, she stood back and admired her creation. The entrance was about 5 feet tall and inside it was around 4 feet deep and 4 feet wide. The tree still stood steadily as the border around the hole AKA the 'wall' of the tree was still around 4 inches thick. The work has also made her feel slightly warmer in the cold rain but she was still muddy and wet.

Working quickly, she took out a canvas sheet and laid it on the floor of the tree hole. "This should keep the floor of the shelter dry." She dumped the backpack inside and took the string and another canvas sheet out. She rubbed the string in the wet dirt, making it as brown as the tree bark. She tied the string around the tree and attached the canvas sheet to it, thus covering up the entrance to her hole. She herself could hardly see the string on the tree. No one would know that this tree base was actually hollowed out.

Shaking herself free of excess dirt and water, she scrambled into the hollow tree. Taking her knife, she cut a small square out of the canvas sheet. This would be her peephole, where she could look out of the hole once in a while to make sure that there were no enemies coming her way. Everything ready and in place, she sat down on the canvas sheet and waited. She had completed her shelter with 5 minutes to spare. She rubbed her hand together trying to keep herself warm. Her clothes were still wet from the rain and there was nothing she could change into to make her warm.

*Crunch* *Crunch* She heard from afar. Looking out of the peephole, she could see her trainer's silhouette coming her way. She scrambled out of the tree and stood there waiting. Once her trainer had reached, he handed her a blanket and a plastic sheet. ""Thanks."" She managed to say as she wrapped the blanket and the sheet around her. Slowly, warmth returned to her fingers. The wind continued to blow and the rain continued to fall but at least she was covered.

""And where is your camp, PFC Alasse?"" Her trainer asked, looking around the area she had been given. ""I can't see any tent.""

""It's right here."" Alasse gestured to the big old tree. He raised an eyebrow. Alasse grinned at the thought that even her trainer could not see her shelter.

"Here, I'll show you." She pulled aside the canvas 'door' and showed him the hole in the tree. Her trainer went in with interest.

""Very original idea Alasse. Very good. It's dry and sturdy and well-camouflaged. Well done." He commented, knocking on the side of the hole.

Alasse waited silently and patiently for her results.

"You've passed your test Alasse. Congratulations." He went on.

A big smile appeared on Alasse's face. All her hard work had paid off. She would have danced on the spot but she was still too cold to do so.

With the directions from her trainer, she returned back to the main building of the Academy.

-----At the Academy (main building)----

Alasse had taken a hot bath and changed into clean and warm clothes. With a hot cup of cocoa in hand, she headed to the lounge where the other troopers were. Together, they chatted excitedly about their recent test, each with a different version of how they had set up camp. Alasse was glad that it was all over.

Covered with stacks of datapad that piled all over his desk, Dez was drawing a design for his personal tracker. While he was nowhere near finish, a polite knock came from his door. It was his DB-3000 droid, bringing more datapads for him.

"Yes, yes, bring them all. I won't touch any of those until we assassinate another Warlord anyway."

Dez woke from his chair and walk to his coffee table. Pouring the grey coffee to his mug, he glanced at the devilish yellow image and the text that surrounds it.

"We own you the second we put you here."

"How true" said Dez to himself

And the droid left Dez' office as quiet as it entered before.

"Chatty as usual, I really need a more interactive assistant." Dez sighed

As he putted down his mug, he noticed that his mug saucer actually a datapad, a week old that is.

"Oh well, since I already touch it, better do it now then."

Dez walk to the PA announcer and talk to the mic

"Attention Nightstalkers, fresh new update".

These are the trooper that have finished their training

  • Private First Class Alasse : Electrical Systems and Field Fortifications
for this, you are given DD6 Light Blaster Pistol

  • Private First Class Maxx Cynn : Indirect Fire Operations and Precision Range Shooting.

  • Private First Class Splinter_Seal : Fire Support Tactics.
for this, you are given 611 Combat  Armor

"Go to the next level people."

After he turned off the mic, he took some of Nomex stimulant and Perlene stimulant.

"Wheee, yellow and purplish thingie"

Att----
Alasse : sorry, there's an entangled data about your training. you passed your second one at 21th

((Okay, I got it. Tracking sheet has been updated and now.. on to my fourth story ))

Combat Engineer Training
Explosives Deployment

Alasse was slowly progressing through her training. She, like her other classmates at her level, had been given the option of moving into Stormtrooper Academy for her training. This would give her easier access to the Academy's facilities and cut away the time she took to travel from home to the Academy and back. Easier access and less time wasted. Who wouldn't want to move in?

With the consent of her father, Alasse packed her things up and went off to the Academy. She moved into Room 313, together with fellow classmates/combat engineers Pat and Delia. Their room was really simple. Just three plain beds, a locker each for their equipment and a mini-fridge. They put away their gear and sat down on their beds. They had just started talking when Droid S5 entered the room.

"Good morning PFC Alasse, Delia and Pat. I have been instructed to come here and inform you that your trainer wants you down at the Academy entrance in 5 minutes." With that, he left.

Alasse, Pat and Delia hurriedly rushed down to the entrance. It wasn't long before all 9 students for that course were present. Their trainer looked at all of them before saying, "Good morning to all of you. You are now attending the course on Explosives Deployment. See those bridges?" he pointed to several small structures in the far distance. "Your task today will be to blow one up." He grinned at all of them.

"You will be given a pack with 5 explosive charges in them as well as some basic equipment needed to plant those charges. If you successfully blow up the bridge you are allocated, you will pass this test. If not... well, let's not think about that first. You will be provided with a speeder bike to reach the bridges." He gestured to the speeder bike next to him. "So let's began shall we? You, shall go first." He said as he pointed straight at Alasse. Alasse gave a weak smile as she tried to hide her nervousness.

Her trainer handed her a pack and she strapped it onto the bike. "This equipment is heavy." She thought to herself. "You are given a time limit of ten minutes. Ready, set, GO!" Her trainer said to her as he pressed the start button on his stopwatch. Alasse immediately hopped onto the speeder bike and sped off towards the bridges. She had better watch her time. Ten minutes wasn't exactly what you'd call long. The speed she was going at caused her hair to blow about behind her but this was no time to think about that. The clock was ticking every second. "Why can't this thing go faster?" She grumbled to herself.

The bridges were just a few miles away. Flattening herself on the bike to increase speed, she reached it in a matter of seconds. Hurriedly, she jumped off the bike and started to inspect the bridge. It was made of solid rock. Her best chance would be to blow it up from the bottom. Moving swiftly, she took out the 5 charges from her backpack and dumped them on the ground. They were really heavy. Taking her towel that hung on her belt, she wiped away her sweat and retrieved a shovel from the bag. "The things they put in the pack..." she shook her head as she began digging in the sand. It was hard to dig, as the ground was nearly rock hard. She saw a little crack in the earth near the corner of the bridge and placed the point of her shovel on top of it.

"1, 2, 3!" She jumped on the edge of her shovel and it sank a few inches into the packed earth. Alasse grinned and proceeded to shovel up the dirt. The digging got easier after that. The ground was hardest at the surface but below that crust, the earth was looser. It wasn't long before she got a small hole, just big enough to fit in one charge. Dragging one of the charges on the ground, she reached the hole and put the charge right in, standing straight up. She covered the sides with dirt so that the charge wouldn't topple over. "One down, four to go." She said to herself. This was definitely tough work and the clock was ticking.

With a lot of jumping on her shovel and dragging of the charges, she managed to put four charges in, each at one corner of the bridge. But where would the last one go? Quickly, Alasse walked around the bridge once. It really wasn't that big. She made her decision. The last charge would just have to go right below the bridge. That was her best option at the moment. She crawled underneath the bridge. The ground was softer here and that made it easier to dig the hole. Hole completed, she dragged the last charge over and positioned it under the bridge. She hoped that when it exploded, the impact would blow apart the bridge.

Shoving her shovel back into the pack, she strapped it back onto the bike tightly. She was all done and she has less than a minute to return to the Academy. Racing for time, she hopped back onto the speeder bike and went off like a bullet. The Academy seemed like centuries away to her. "Come on, come on! Go faster!" she urged the bike. The bike slowly gained speed. "Almost there... Almost there... Yes!" Alasse cheered as she reached the Academy entrance and looked at her trainer for her time.

"9 minutes and 48 seconds. Not bad." He remarked. "Now let's see whether you succeed in blowing up that bridge." With that, he took the detonator attached to Alasse's charges wjile everyone turned to face the bridge. With a thumb on the red button, he pressed it down hard.

BOOM!

The explosive charges went off and debris flew everyone. They could hardly see anything as the whole area looked dusty and hazy. It took some time before everything settled down once more. With the air cleared up, they could clearly make out what was left of the bridge. Where the bridge was once located, all there was left was a few big pieces of rock. The structure was completely gone. Alasse grinned as her trainer turned to her. "Well done PFC Alasse. You have passed this test."

Delia ran up and gave Alasse a hug. "You did it! That explosion was so awesome." Delia said excitedly.

"Do you think so PFC Delia?" their trainer said to Delia who in turn blushed in embarrassment, "Well, then you will be happy to know that you're up next."

Pat had already come forward and gave Alasse a high-five. When she heard it was Delia's turn next, she grinned and glanced sideways at Alasse. Together they chorused, "Good Luck Delia!" The whole class could hear them and they all laughed, excluding Delia who went red in the face once more. "Thanks a lot, you guys. What a way to make me feel embarrassed." Delia muttered. The trio laughed again before Delia went forward to receive her pack and last minute instructions.

Alasse smiled as she saw Delia set off towards the bridges on the bike. She had passed this level and could now move on to greater heights. "Bridging and Rigging. Sounds tough but I'll learn from that course." Alasse though as she watched Delia reach the bridge..

personally, i prefer to plant it on 1 side only, incase the explosive is not strong enough. And you didn't specify the material of the bridge. Anyway since you blew it to smithereen, pass. move on now

(Slightly shorter than usual but I ran out of stuff to write..)

Combat Engineer Training
Bridging and Rigging

"Good morning troopers."

Delia, Pat and Alasse looked up at their trainer as he spoke. All 9 Combat Engineering students were in the training room, awaiting the instructions for their next course.

"Today, you begin a new course, bridging and rigging. For once, you will be working in teams of three and each team will be required to build a bridge across an 8-meter wide river. There is a time limit of 45 minutes. Materials have been provided and already at your allocated site. Take the speeder bikes and go to your given site. I will sound the alarm when the time begins. I wish you all good luck!"

With that, he stepped back and the troopers immediately got onto the speeder bikes and headed towards the site identified on their datapad. Delia led the way throughout and the trio passed several other groups as they sped by. They reached their site in no time and took a look at the materials given. There were two 9-metre long concrete beams, some rope, bricks, 18 slabs of concrete (40 cm by 1 meter), shovels, 2 buckets of wet cement and a trowel. The river water was calm.

"Well, I guess we're building a beam bridge." Alasse declared when they looked at the stuff. Pat and Delia nodded and started pooling their ideas. Within a minute they had agreed on a plan. There was no time to lose and Pat quickly climbed up a nearby tree with one end of the rope attached to her waist. Below, Alasse and Delia rolled one of the beams till it was perpendicular to the river and attached the other end of the rope to the end of the beam further away from the river. Pat sat at the top of a tree and looped the rope once around a strong and thick branch.

Holding tightly onto the rope, she jumped down the tree, using the branch as a pulley. So, as she went down, the beam was brought up. Delia had to help pull Pat down, as the beam was very heavy. Alasse and Delia held the beam as it stood vertically, while Pat climbed back up the tree and helped to lower the beam across the river. The beam landed on the opposite bank with a THUD and dust arose. Using their hands to clear the air and coughing, they looked to see the beam spanning across the river and quickly took a few bricks to keep the beam in place. Alasse swiftly crossed the beam and put several bricks in place as well.

5 minutes has already passed since they began. Promptly, they repeated the procedure for the other beam. THUD! Dust arose once more as the beam was put onto the other bank. Alasse shouted over the river to the other two. "I think we may need to dig several holes to help keep the beams in place. They still look rather& unstable!" They nodded their head and Alasse crossed the beam again to retrieve a shovel. The other two began digging shallow holes for each beam, making sure that the holes were 1 meter apart. Across the river, Alasse did the same, looking over the river a few times to ensure that her holes were directly opposite the other two. Each hole was 10 cm deep. Holes done, they pushed each beam till it landed in the holes nicely. Quickly they packed the dirt so that the beam sat snugly in place.

Grinning, Alasse crossed the river and Delia said, "On to the next part!" Alasse picked up a bucket of cement and a trowel while the other two carried one concrete slab closer to the beams. Taking some cement, Alasse smoothened it on the beams before the concrete slab was put on top of it. "One down, seventeen more to go!" Alasse called out cheerfully. Pat and Delia glared at her. "Thanks a lot Alasse. You get the easier part." Delia muttered. Alasse grinned back.

Pat and Delia heaved another concrete slab onto the beams, as Alasse lay concrete again. After 6 slabs were on, the girls switched roles. Alasse and Pat struggled to bring the slabs over as the distance between the slabs and its destined area grew further. Alasse wiped off her sweat with her Imperial towel as they sun rays beat down on them mercilessly. The cement was beginning to dry up and Delia had to constantly stir the cement in the bucket. "One, two, three!" Alasse counted and both she and Pat lifted up another slab. "I can feel a blister forming." Pat winced.

6 slabs left, and they swapped once more. "My back hurts." Alasse groaned as she and Delia lifted another slab. They were really heavy. "I share your pain." Delia grimaced. "4 more to go. What's the time?" Alasse asked Pat. "We have 10 minutes left." "Just great." Delia responded as they put the concrete slab onto the beams. They were done with a minute to spare. All three groaned and flopped down onto the ground.

Their trainer arrived soon and they hurriedly got up, keeping a serious face as he inspected the bridge. Holding their breath as he walked across the river, they let their breathe out as the bridge did not disappoint them.

Their trainer had a small smile on his face when he returned and faced them. Adding one last tick to his datapad, he said, "Congratulations! You have all passed. Your bridge looked rather shabby but it still stands." All three stared at him for a full minute before they began screaming and jumping up and down, pain forgotten. The trainer looked at them with a raised eyebrow and a rather amused expression.

Quickly, they straightened themselves and saluted him. Each face held a grin that went from ear to ear. They hopped on their speeder bikes and raced each other back to the Academy. This pass marked a great friendship between them all.

Comments: I'd have to say I've seen few posts that go into this much depth for this particular story. Good work!

((OOC: Ive finally done another Spec story ))
Combat Engineering Training
Construction Skills

Alasse and her fellow roommates, Pat and Delia were lazing around in their room, reading a couple of manuals when Droid S5 entered. They looked up as he spoke.

"Troopers, you are to report in the training room in 5 minutes."

Nodding, Delia and Alasse grabbed their data pads but had to pause as Pat complained that she had to brush her hair. Both of them groaned and told Pat to hurry. With a minute to go, all three rushed out of their room, bounding down the stairs as they went.

-In the Training Room-

Within 5 minutes, all the troopers in the Combat Engineering course had gathered. Alasse, Pat and Delia sat down at an empty table and awaited their new instructions.
Delia muttered to Pat, "Lucky for you, we aren't late or else I swear I would have strangled you. Brushing your hair. Geez!"
Pat grinned back apologetically while Alasse shushed them.
The instructor had arrived. He started by saying,

"Welcome back Troopers! A brand new course awaits you. Construction Skills. Something you will definitely find useful." He paused and rubbed his hand together. "To pass this course, you will be required to enter a simulation, where a battle is currently ongoing. One of your team's guard tower has been damaged by the enemy and it is up to you to repair it."

Alasse listened closely. It had been quite sometime since she had last gone through the stimulator.

"I will call one Trooper at a time to follow me to the simulation to repair the guard houses. Supplies will be given to you later. While waiting, the rest may return to their rooms or stay here. A Droid will call you when your turn arrives. In alphabetical order now. LCPL Alasse, you are up first."

Alasse groaned. "Why did her name have to start with an 'A'?" Pulling herself off her seat, she followed her instructor as Pat and Delia flashed her a thumbs up sign.

-At the Simulator-

"LCPL Alasse." The instructor said and he made a tick on his datapad. Handing her a backpack, he continued, "These are all the supplies you will need. You have a time limit of 30 minutes. Good Luck."

Nodding, she slung the backpack over one shoulder. It was rather heavy, which made her wonder what was in store for her. On instructions, she stepped into the simulator.

A battle scene greeted her. Flashes of light shot past as the troopers battled it out with the enemy. Alasse ducked and ran to the broken guardhouse to get to work. It was practically in pieces. She walked around it once to examine the damage. The guardhouse was made of bricks and one side of it was blown apart. The roof had been blown off too. She would start by fixing the side of the guardhouse. Dumping her backpack on the ground, she pulled out a pair of goggles to protect her eyes and put it on. Cracking her fingers, she grabbed a hammer and started to knock away bits of broken bricks that were still stuck on the guardhouse. This took a few minutes as a few stubborn pieces refused to budge. "Come off already you damn thing!" Alasse nearly screamed at it. Then she sheepishly looked around and continued till the pieces were now even.

Scratching her head, she looked around and spotted a small pile of bricks nearby. Quickly, she took out a packet of cement and a trowel from a backpack. Grabbing a nearby bucket, she dumped the cement in and poured in water from a tap. "At least the tap works at this time." She muttered to herself. With the trowel, she mixed the cement well and proceeded to lay the bricks. She wiped away her sweat with her towel and shot glances at the battle scene. Cement, then brick, cement, then brick, it went on for quite some time. She made sure she left spaces between the bricks after she had gone waist high with even layers. This enabled the other troopers to look out of the guardhouse.

The bricks were in soon enough and she made sure that none of them were loose. "15 minutes left." Alasse said to herself. Leaving the wet cement to dry off, she ran quickly over to the broken roof that lay 8 meters away. With both hands, she dragged it over to the guardhouse. "Oof. That was heavy." She mumbled and examined it. There was a big hole in it. She placed the flat roof on a big sheet of plastic and filled the hole with cement. She used her breath to try and speed up the drying of the cement. Tentatively with her trowel, she touched the cement. It seemed dry enough. Just to be sure, she left it there for a minute and mixed the bucket of cement so it wouldn't dry in it. The roof seemed fine. She lifted it up. It was heavier and the plastic stuck to it. 'Oh well,' she thought to herself. 'At least it isn't stuck to the ground!' Propping the roof up with one hand, she plastered cement all over the bricks at the very top. She wasn't really tall enough so she stood on her toes. Setting down the trowel, she used both hands to raise the roof up, the plastic side facing down. The roof lay on the bricks quite nicely. She walked inside to view her own handiwork. Wiping her hands, she took off her goggles and grinned.

"Mission Accomplished!" she told herself.

She walked back out and came face to face with her instructor. "Very good, Alasse." He had entered the simulator to check on her work. "Well, I think this is good enough for a pass then. Congratulations!" He said and jotted down something on his datapad.

Alasse whooped with joy and together they left the simulator.

-Back in her dorm-

Alasse entered with a big grin plastered on her face, as if the cement had made it stay that way.

Pat rushed up to her and asked, "How was it? Was it easy?"
Delia commented from her bed. "With that smile, you so obviously passed, Lass."

Alasse didn't say anything. She just gave them a thumbs-up sign.

Comments: Good work. Nice to see that you moved on without my getting to your first story (which has also been corrected). Keep up the good work.

Vehicle Crewman Training
Basic Walker Vehicles

Nicholas sat on his bed, looking at a photograph of his brother, Nile. Beep! Beep! Beep!

Well, I guess I better get to my first class,  he said, clearing his throat.

He put the photo down, put on his clothes, and grabbed his datapad. The doors swished opened as he walked by, good thing his class was so near his dorm, otherwise he would have been late. He walked down the hallway, and saw some of his classmates walking in a different direction, so he decided to follow them. The route they were taking was quite a bit longer than the original one, but it was too late to turn around, now. When they finally arrived, he realized that it was a different classroom. "I must have gotten it wrong," Nicholas thought to himself.  Outside his classroom, there were about twenty four other students waiting to go inside.

"Hello, mister... Star. Your teacher will be arriving soon. Thank you," informed a protocol droid.

After a couple minutes wait, his teacher arrived to the classroom. "Come in, everybody," the teacher ordered. On one side of the room were long rows of desks, and a large diagram of an AT-AT walker. On the other side was an AT-AT walker cockpit, and a broken AT-ST walker.

"Take out your datapads, and record everything on the diagram," commanded his teacher.

When Nicholas finished, they were on their way to the AT-AT cockpit. They learned all about the levers, "this lever moves the right leg, and this lever moves the left," explained the teacher, and so it went until they went back to the diagram. They then learned about fixing an AT-ST and AT-AT walker. After, they then all had a turn fixing the AT-ST walker.

Nicholas was happy to finally be done his class at the end. But, he still had to take the exam. Everybody was doing it in turns. As he waited for his turn, he studied his notes on his datapad. "Beep! Beep! Beep! You have a message!" informed his datapad, it read, this exam consist of four sections, repairing AT-AT and AT-ST walker units, starting and maneuvering an AT-ST unit, labeling all parts of every walker, and listing the names and uses of each of your tools.

"Nicholas Star! You are up next! I will need your datapad, please," called the teacher.

When Nicholas entered the exam room, he was surprised to see so many different kinds of walkers. This meant more work for him, though.

"First, you need to start up that AT-ST walker, and operate it through the course,"  explained the teacher.

Nicholas hopped into the walker, and flipped on ten different switches before pulling one big lever in the middle. This got the walker started. His teacher gave a nod, telling him to go on. He then flipped three more switches, and started pulling the levers to move. He moved it around the course, and over things, but it was easy for him to do. The course he had to maneuver through was very long and boring for him.

"Ok, good. Now you will go over to that A-AT walker, and repair it," explained the teacher.

Nicholas walked over to the walker, and took out his tool kit. The damages on the walker were very minimal, and they were very easy to repair. He took out his tool kit, and started on the repairs.

"Well done, Nicholas. Now you will need to go over to that desk, and list all of the different types of walkers, and their parts. Then, list all of the tools in your tool kit, and write what they do. I will now be taking your tool kit," explained the teacher.

This took him about fifteen minutes to write, and then he was done the exam.

"Here are your datapad and tool kit. Good job on the exam," the teacher said to him as she handed him his datapad and tool kit.

Nicholas walked out of the classroom, and waited for the results. He waited about four hours, and finally the teacher said to them all, "I just want to congratulate all of you in your hard work in this class. You will have your test marks sent to you on your datapads shortly. Thank you." After a couple minutes of wait, he got a message.

Student Name: Nicholas Star
Specialty: Vehicle Crewman
Mark: 99%
Evaluation: Excellent

Nicholas then walked back to his dorm, felling great. He then felt very tired, after a long day.

(I hope this is good.)

Happy to have passed his first class, Nicholas was getting ready for his next one. His datapad was in his pocket, and his tool kit was tucked in his jacket. He got up and walked to his next class, hoping he got the right room this time. As he walked down the hallway, he saw most of his last classmates going in the same direction as him. When they arrived, the instructor was already there.

"Everybody, come on inside, and sit down at a desk," he said after everyone had stopped talking.

The classroom was large and wide, with no ceiling. The entire room was empty, except for a couple cockpits lying on the floor, and four long rows of desks. He took a seat near the middle, and took out his datapad.

"You won't need those datapads," explained the instructor, "just take out your tool kits, and meet me at the back of the room."

Nicholas stood up, and walked to the back of the room, following his instructor to a door, at the back of the room. They walked outside, to an AT-ST walker.

"This is the AT-ST model of a walker. You will be learning the intermediate walker operation, and basic weapon system operation. All of you will jump into the walker, and show me how you handle it," Ordered the instructor.

Everybody was getting into the walker, and drove it around a circular track. When it came to be Nicholas' turn, he got in the cockpit, and steered it around the short track, then jumped out for the next person in line. After this, they were sent back into the class room to copy notes. They were copying basic weapon notes. When they were done with the notes, they moved on to one of the cockpits on the floor.

"You each will need to get in this cockpit, and fire the guns properly. Nothing will fire as you can see, but you need to show me that you can operate it," commanded the instructor.

Nicholas took his turn third, watching the first two so he didn't make any mistakes. When it came to be his turn, he got in and already knew perfectly what to do. His instructor was impressed in how he just got in, and knew exactly what to do. He had to show how to start up the weapons, and fire them correctly.

"Good work, mister Star. You may take a seat." Said the instructor as Nicholas got out.

Once everyone had completed this, they were sent back to the diagram to copy some more notes.

"Everybody, you will now show me how you drive in groups of four, according to your scores in your first testing." informed the instructor.

Nicholas walked outside to the AT-ST walker with three other guys. When they got outside, there were five more AT-ST walkers lined up for driving. Nicholas was the first to drive, "When you get in, your partners will set up the targets," ordered the instructor, as Nicholas' partners ran out into the field to set them up, "you will have ten minutes to hit as many targets as possible. The weapons you are using will not destroy the targets, they will send off a shock of electricity, which when it strikes the target, it will take it out for a period of seconds, and add a point to your score. Go!" yelled the instructor.

Nicholas finished with a score of 243. When they were all finished, the class was done. They were all sent out to wait to take the exam. Nicholas was one of the first students to take it. When he walked in the room, there were two desks, and a target range with an AT-ST walker.

"Okay, Nicholas. You will start by coming with me outside, and you will drive the AT-ST around for me, then you will come back, and write out all the notes from the class. Then you will go to the shooting range, and hit as many targets as possible. I will need your datapad, please, and you may start your test." The instructor said as Nicholas walked in.

He started walking towards the door, and the instructor followed him slowly. As Nicholas got in the AT-ST walker, he noticed that he was using a different style of AT-ST, because the controls were all in different places than the original one he was using. But, as he got started, it actually wasn't much different. After he finished the course, he ran back to the classroom, his instructor following behind him, looking at his datapad.

"Okay. Now you will walk over to that desk, and write the notes from the class," explained the instructor.

He wrote the notes, after that, he was instructed to go over to the shooting range. There he had to fire at target moving around, while shooting from an AT-ST walker. Nicholas started up the walker, and got the weapons ready to fire. The targets popped out of different corners, from the ceiling, from the floor, and from other areas. He fired at them all, only missing a couple from time to time, but he got the majority of them.

"Good job mister Star, hop out of the walker, and wait outside for the test results." ordered the instructor.

After a couple hours, the test results were posted.

Comments: I'm going to pass this, but only just. I suggest you look at the DD Specialty thread and check out how Zafo and Kairo do their stories. Maybe not the same length as them, but I definately want to see some more story telling me what is is that you actually did for training. Other than that it's good.

Vehicle Crewman Training
Navigation

Nicholas had completed two of his vehicle crewman training classes, and was now getting himself ready for his next one, navigation training. With the room number written on his hand, he set off down the hallway, looking for the classroom. After about fifteen minutes of looking, he found it, on the very north side. Like every time, there was a crowd outside the classroom.

"Nicholas Star, is he here yet?" asked his instructor.
"I'm here, sir," answered Nicholas, as he walked up to the crowd of students.
"Good. OK, mister&" the instructor went on checking for the students.

Once the instructor had finished, they were ordered into the classroom, where there was a large table, which showed holograms. On one side were some desks, and large screen for copying notes, and on the other were a couple of AT-ST walkers on a small simulation field. In the back of the room was a miniature AT-AT walker.

"Everyone please take a seat over here, and take out your datapads for some notes," explained the instructor, "now, has everybody learned about the basic navigation systems of a walker? Well, we will be learning about them and how to use them in a field, and navigating yourself without a navigation system."

Nicholas sat down in a desk in the front row, and took out his datapad to copy the notes. They copied out long pages of notes, about the navigation system, how to use them, and everything else about navigating yourself in a battlefield. After copying all these notes, Nicholas's hand started to feel sore.

"Now, I would like you all to put your datapads away, and follow me over to these walkers to get a feel for the navigation system," the instructor ordered, as they finished up their notes.

The walkers had navigation systems in them, for simulation on the course. They were lectured on how the navigation system is triggered on, and what it will show on the screen. Nicholas hopped into the cockpit, and started up the walker. The switch for the navigation system was over his head, which he flipped, and it bleeped on. Nicholas saw himself on the screen, and his teammate's coordinates, which were just fake walkers with navigation systems in them.

"Follow the objective points on the screen to complete the round. You have two minutes. Go!" shouted the instructor.

Nicholas started moving the walker along the course, walking into points on the map of the navigation system. The targets were only shown on the screen, not on the actual field, and his objective points were usually on the other side of the field. He finished with thirty two seconds left on the clock. After he made it to the finish, he shut the walker down, and got out for the next student. After everybody had completed the track, they were ordered to the small hologram table to learn some navigation techniques. The table showed a view of a war with about twelve walkers in one army, and about eleven in the other. After the class was the routine they had to do at the end of each class, to wait outside and wait to be called for the exam. Twenty minutes of wait, and Nicholas was called into the classroom, "Nicholas Star, please follow me!" called the instructor.

Nicholas followed him into the classroom, which appeared the same as before. They kept walking until they reached the very back of the classroom, where a door stood. Nicholas kept following him into this small room, with a simulator.

"This simulator will test you on everything you have learned here about walkers, go on in," explained the instructor. Nicholas slowly walked into the simulator, leaving his datapad and toolkit behind.

Nicholas woke up, hearing loud screaming from an inter com; he was inside a walker cockpit. Outside of the cockpit, he was in a large field and large mountains surrounded him.

"Sir, we need some backup over here! Come on! Our coordinates are two fifty, and ninety!" screamed a soldier into the inter com.

A screen inside the cockpit bleeped. It said; Nicholas Star. Your mission is to rescue and escort a small pack of friendly walkers to a safe point located on the navigation system. You will escort them to some getaway vehicles, at the end of this map.

Nicholas pulled the lever into gear, and started moving the walker towards the point on his screen, which was just half of a mile east of him. He controlled the walker behind small mountains and boulders, when he spotted his first enemy. It was facing the opposite direction of Nicholas, so he charged up his blaster cannon, and fired a hard, long shot at the back of the enemy walker. It shot up in flames, and died down to a small pile of trash pieces. He walked on, behind the mountains and boulders, checking his screen for enemies. Once he reached his objective point; a small team of AT-ST walkers, they were screaming into the inter com.

"They are going to kill us! We need some friendly fire to get us out of here!" they shouted.
"Don't worry. I am going to get you out of here as soon as possible," replied Nicholas.

A small squad of enemy walkers was gaining on them on the navigation system screen.

"Maneuver around those enemy walkers!" shouted the soldier.
"Ok, just follow me, exactly where I go," commanded Nicholas.

He shifted into gear, and walked the walker along a small path, through a small forest, and around a large canyon. All of the walkers slowly followed Nicholas, and did whatever he did. The path through the forest was rough, and the team barely made it through, but they got out, covered in mud, grass and routes sticking out of the ground.

"Now what do we do?" asked the team leader.
"We will walk around that wide canyon, and through another small path, to some getaway vehicles," answered Nicholas.

Just as he finished that sentence, the navigation system shut down, leaving Nicholas and that crew with no map. He started around the canyon, trying to remember the path from his navigation system. He made it to the second path, after a matter of a couple minutes. Once they made it to the end of the path, they just headed straight, towards the safe point.

"Thank you, sir," said the team leader, as he jumped out.

Everything got very dark, and faded away. He was back in the simulation room, laying in the middle of the floor,

"Good job, wait outside for your results to be posted on the wall outside." ordered the instructor, as he gave a hand to Nicholas.

Nicholas waited a long wait, and eventually fell asleep outside. Nicholas was struck by something making him wake up. His results were posted on the wall, and most of the students were gone. He looked at his score.

"ring ring ring ring!!"  Leon woke up startled as his alarm clock rung. Man I hate
Waking up early.
Leon thought to himself as he looked at the Alarm clock which read 5:30 in the morning. Well at least I can take my time, Leon thought to himself as he flicked on the bath room light and started up the shower.

Five minutes later

With all his gear in check which included his imperial boxer shorts, Leon picked up his duffle bag and left the room. As he stepped out into the lighted white corridor, he saw other people to that were going to there class, some familiar faces, and some he had never seen before.

As Leon started walking he took out his Data Pad which read 5:35 in the morning. Now lets see where this place is. As Leon scrolled down the data pad looking for his training room he found it, unfortunately it happened to be on the other side of the academy. Looks like I got a loooong way to go.

Twenty minutes later

After a good meal, and a very long walk Leon found himself standing in front of two large metallic doors. At least 4 meters wide and 8 meters tall. He went to the left of the doors and inserted his hand into the scanner.
"Good morning Private first class Leon" The robotic voice said as he stepped through the large doors.

As he walked in he realized that he was in the hangar area of the academy. He saw many types of Vehicles lined up next to each other such as the TX-130S Assault Repulsor tank, LAAT, 74-Z Military Speeder Bike, and one of Leon's personal
Favorites, the GAT.

He looked to the right and saw about a dozen desks, and in front a Teachers desk,  three students were their other than him. Leon walked over to the desks and took a seat upfront. Leon looked to see where the teacher was but he wasn't there. Hmmmmmmm that's weird, he should be here already. Leon looked back at the other three students seated behind him. They all looked as if they were high, there eyes had a glazed look  and were half-way shut. That's what you get when you don't take a shower.

Five minutes later

The rest of the students had arrived, only two girls in the whole class, and the rest were boys. But still no Teacher. This guy must be one lazy ass if he's still not in class. Leon thought to himself as he waited for the teacher.

Its  6:15, where is this guy? Leon looked around for the teacher but he wasn't there.

"Good morning students!" came a loud booming voice.
Leon jumped in his chair as he heard the loud booming voice.
" I am Mr. Verma, I will be teaching you today in your Vehicle Operation class"
Leon looked around but could not find Mr.Verma. His voice seemed to come from all
Directions. Then Leon saw something move from behind one of the vehicles, it was there teacher. He was pretty big not in height but in width and he had huge bulky arms and a scruffy beard. He had brown eyes and a kind of bulky face. He looked as if he came out of the jungle.
"So I see that you all are here for your first Vehicle Crewman class, Stage 1" He said in a
Serious voice.
"It will sure as hell not be easy and you could even get killed"
Some of the students gasped and fidgeted in their seats.
"Just kidding" He then lit up the room with very, very white teeth and a wide smile and started laughing.
"Well now to begin, I want you all to pull out your Data-pads and start taking notes, the first vehicle we will start off on will be the land speeder" Leon quickly pulled out his data pad and pen and started copying everything he said.

30 minutes later

"So now that you have all learnt what each control and button does on the speeder, I want to see each and everyone of you activate the speeder and successfully drive it across the obstacle course" Mr.Verma said.

As we walked over to the speeders i saw some students talking to each other with very worried looks. Finnaly when we got there Mr.Verma said.
"These controls are controls you will use on most Speeders, Swoops, and Air speeders. They are also the basic controls on most vehicles."
He led them to the far east corner of the hangar and there were 6 speeders lined up.
" One by one you will try to complete the obstacle course, it may seem easy but there could be a few surprises." he said with a grin.
"So, who wants to go first?" he asked
Instantly everyone raised there hands.
"That's good, everyone eager to get started, but you wont feel that way when your in combat."
He Picked 6 random people and I happened to be the third one. Yesssssss. Leon thought to himself as he walked up to the third speeder bike.

It was light brown with two blaster canons in front, it was the normal army speeder. Leon hopped on the bike and inserted his hand into the scanner. He looked at the fuel indicator, and it was full, both engines were working from what the diagram on the control panel said, and there was no damage or leaks from what the indicators said.
"Now you guys are group one, in most of the upcoming missions and classes you guys will stick together, now I'm going to count to three, as soon as I get to three I want you to take off and every three seconds another takes off, do you understand?"

"SIR YES SIR!" The group responded in unison.
"Now start your engines"
Leon flicked one of the switches on the upper left corner on the control panel up. The machine started to whine and lift off the ground. The gates started to open and Mr.Verma started
Counting.
"Go!" Mr.Verma shouted over the hum of the engines.
The first student shot off into the forest. Then the second group member shot off. Now it was Leons turn, as the count down started, he prepped the engines, then as he got to one he pushed the throttle lever forward about a little more than half way and he shot off.

Leon zoomed through the lush green forest. It was awesome with the trees whipping by him and
The wind whipping past his helmet.
"BEEP BEEP BEEP" Leon heard a rapid beeping noise coming from his speeder.
Leon checked the control panel and realized that the engine was over
Heating so he slowed down. man i forgot what he said about the speeders, that they were very old and couldnt go fast without over heating.
Then realizing that he was off course, he veered to the right while brushing past a tree. Whoa
That was close.

Finally after a long, scary but fun ride, he could see the hangar again, and as Leon was getting closer, a bolt whipped by his head.
"What the fu-" Leon dodged another bolt coming from the side realizing that there were probe droids attacking him. Leon realized that he couldn't shoot back because this was a training speeder so he would just have to perform some basic maneuvers that he had just learned.

Leon cut a sharp right into the thicker part of the forest using the trees as shields. Always use what's around you, thats what he told us. He thought to himself. Then the three droids formed a triangular formation around Leon. Realizing that the only way to go was up Leon put the Speeder Max Rev and he shot up forward out of the trees leaving the droids behind. Then smoke started coming out of the engine he slowed down and made a left back into the trail, the droids nowhere to be seen and the hangar right infront of him.

Leon slowed down and when he got into the hangar, he parked them next to the other speeders.
But there were only four, he looked around to see two of the kids getting carried away in a stretcher by two medics.
"Good job group number one, that was some good driving, I only expected two to make it" He said with a grin.
"You guys are dismissed" he said while turning to the next group.

Wooooooooo that was fun, wonder what next class is gonna be like? Leon thought to himself with a grin.

Leon looked at himself in the mirror while he was brushing his teeth making sure he was getting every dirty  spot. Yea, I always gotta look sexy, especially today since I got that girl in my group. Leon remembered the girl who sat three chairs away from him and she was also in his group. She had blue eyes, nice long brown hair, a beautiful smile, and the best body of life. Sheeeees all mine.

When Leon was done prepping himself in the bathroom he picked up his duffle bag with all his gear and left the dorm. His class started at 12:00 so he had plenty of time to do what he wanted, it was only 9:00. Leon had talked to his friend Vex and they were going to meet in the mess hall and grab something to eat, and they were both headed in the same direction.

Five minutes later

Leon waited in front of the Mess Hall waiting for his friend Vex to come. Finally Vex showed up. Vex was one of Leon's good friends, and about the only person he hangs out with at the Academy, Vex was a very happy guy, he pretty much always had a smile on his face and he was always making people laugh. He was about 1 foot taller then Leon and he had Black hair, brown eyes and was pretty built.
"Leon!" Vex shouted in a cheery voice.
"Vex!" Leon replied in the same cheery voice.
They did there special handshake and went off to lunch, it's the way they always greeted each other.
"So how's your training so far?" Vex asked
"It's great, I passed the first test, which wasn't that hard I have to admit" Leon said with a cocky smirk on his face.
"Yea ok Leon, keep lying to yourself you know you almost failed." Vex said in a sarcastic tone of voice.
"Oh yea and there's this beautiful girl in my group because the teacher put us in groups, so I'm gonna try and hook it up." Leon said with a smile on his face.

Ten minutes later

Finally, Leon and Vex were done eating, and they had decided to go to Academy's local Cantina and go hang out. On the way there they also stopped by Vexes dorm because Vex wanted to show Leon his new computer.

Vex'es apartment was nice. He had lots of posters with pictures of Storm Troopers, and very nice Land Speeders, and the kind of posters every real man has to have in their room, Super model posters.
"Check it out" Vex said as he pulled out his new Lap Top.
It was very small with silver borders and the main color being black. Vex opened up the Lap top and turned it on. The screen lit up and a robotic voice said.
"Hello Vex"
Leon stared in awe as Vex showed him all the things the computer could do. Finally after about ten minutes of looking at the computer, they left to the cantina.

20 minutes later

They were already at the cantina talking with some other students, and having fun. Finally after a long talk, Vex and Leon decided they should start heading to class, because it was already 11:30.

20 minutes later

"Well, heres my stop." Vex said while clapping hands with Leon.
"Later Vex cya after class" Leon said while walking away.

5 minutes later

Man she's soooo hot. Leon was staring at the girl in awe. She looks so&so beautiful, I need to find out her name. As Leon was staring at her she turned around and looked at him and Leon looked down at the ground in embarrassment. Come on Leon grow some balls and go talk to her. Leon was just about to stand up when Mr.Verma walked in.
"Good afternoon class"
"Good afternoon Mr.Verma" the class said in unison.
"Well I see that all of you are here today" he said while taking out his Data Pad.
"As you all know, today we will be learning basic navigation, and basic canon operation."
"Before we start anything though, I need to brief you on what your mission will be. There are two groups, Group Blue, and Group Red, and I assume all of you know which group you are in?"
The class nodded in approval.
"All right then, this is what you have to do" He activated a Hologram with a map on it and a blue and red line going in a certain course. "What you will have to do is Navigate through an obstacle course with turrets, whoever gets to the middle first wins, but if both of the groups get within firing range of each other, then who ever kills the other group first wins" He said with a smirk on his face.
"But if you still have your whole group then they all need to be there, no matter how many you have left they all have to reach the finish.  And now to choose the Vehicles"
He said with that big smile on his face.
"Oh wait I forgot to tell you guys that we have to take notes first and learn about the navigation unit and how to use the canons" He said with a smirk.
"Awwwwwwwwwwww" The class moaned.

One hour and 10 pages later

"Allrighty then, now that you all know how to use the Navigation system and use the Canons; we will now go select the Vehicles"
He led the class towards the Walker section of the Vehicles. They came in all different shapes and sizes, some heavy artillery and some were for infiltration.
"Ok the Vehicle you guys will be using today is the AT-ST Walker." He said.
"This is my personal favorite; it has one twin blaster canon, one twin light blaster, and one concussion grenade launcher. It's good for almost any mission and is very reliable.
But I've set it so you can only use the Twin Blaster Canon, also in the field there is going to be a certain part, where you're Navigations systems wont work and you'll have to Navigate without it."
The class all nodded as he told them the rest of the info about the walkers.
"Now everyone get one and sattle up, because today is going to be a very hard and ruff day."

Leon and his group all got into each of there walkers. The first thing he did was turn on his communications unit so he could keep in contact with everyone.
"Everyone here?" he asked.
"Yea" said everyone in unison.
The next thing he did was turn on the Navigations Unit on the left side of the control panel. After doing that he reached above him and turned on the Navigation screen which allowed him to see everything that was in front and it also had some peripheral vision, it also had a mini screen so you could see if anything was behind you. Then he turned the safety switch off of the twin blaster canons and inserted the Ignition Cylinder in to the walkers' center control panel. The rest of the lights inside the Walker turned on and the two main lights turned off.
"Everyone ready?" Mr. Verma asked.
"Yes Sir!" Shouted the Blue Group into there intercom system.
"Ok Red group is on the opposite side of the course waiting for me to give them the ok. On one you guys will exit into the obstacle course and begin the mission."
"Three&.Two&.One Go!"
The doors opened and Leon's group headed out into the obstacle course. Leon was covering the back just in case any turrets popped up from behind, Gyro was third, Saline the girl he now had a crush on in second, and Tie in front.
"Ok, everyone's systems all good?" Tie asked
"Yea" Everyone replied.
"Ok then lets go"

Leon's group all headed into the Lush thick green forest at a fast walk. He looked at his Navigations Unit and looked at the course he had set through the forest.
"Ok everyone go into Formation A" Tie said.
Leon went to the bottom of the control panel and flipped up a switch. They had programmed the 6 formations they would be using when Mr.Verma told them to plan out there strategies. Automatically, on the Navigations Screen it showed him where he should be positioned, he slowed the walker down until he got into the exact spot, and then went back to the normal pace. The only difference from this formation and the old formation is that they were more spread out which would make them less of a target; they were about 15 meters away from each other. Leon looked around to see any sign of turrets, and on his radar. So far so good.
"Lets speed up the pace you guys" Leon said into the intercom.
They all sped up there walkers, and everything looked good, Leon kept looking at his Navigations unit and they were right on course, he then checked his radar unit and saw a red dot, about 75 yards away from his point.
All of a sudden a Bolt whipped by Ties Walker. Tie and Saline both locked onto the target and took it out.
"Nice" Leon said into his intercom.
The group kept going, when out of nowhere 7 dots appeared on his radar. Two behind him, three on the sides of Gyros Walker and two upfront.
"We got company!" Saline shouted into the intercom.
Bolts started whizzing by them left and right. Leon turned his walker as fast as he could and locked onto a turret on his left. He pressed the Red trigger on the joystick of the walker and a Bolt whizzed out of Leon's walker and the turret went up in flames.
Nice He turned his walker to the right while strafing to the left to dodge a canons fire and locked onto the turret and fired a shot at it hitting its mark. Leon looked up to his radar and saw that there was still one on gyros right side and one upfront. Leon aimed at the turret and locked on, he fired a shot and the turret went up in flames. Leon was about to turn to the front to help Tie and Saline out and saw that they were done.
"Ok back into formation you guys" Tie said into the intercom.

Finally the team was out of the forest and on rocky plains, there were giant boulders that could be used as cover but at least 30 meters apart each so that means that they would have to be careful here because they were easy targets here.
Ties Voice crackled over the intercom.
"Get into Formation C"
Formation C was the perfect choice for this terrain because all the rocks were at least fifty meters from where they were, some maybe a little farther and Formation C was a skirmish line, each Walker should be twenty meters away from each other but in this case some would have to be farther apart from each other because they were going to have to make a sprint to a boulder and they wouldn't be big enough to fit two walkers in one.
"Ok each one of us are going to make a sprint to the boulder they choose to go to while whoever is not moving, gives cover fire, Leon you go first" Tie said.
"All right on Three&Two&One" Leon put the control lever to full throttle making the walker go as fast as it could, he was halfway there when he noticed that his radar and navigations unit weren't working. Awwwwww crap he saw a bolt whip by his Walker and his team started giving support fire.

Finally he made it to his Boulder and the firing stopped. He knew that in five seconds his next group mate would go so he peered out of the boulder and realized that there weren't turrets shooting at him, they were the other team and they were almost at the middle.
"You guys we have to hurry up, there almost at the finish line!" Leon shouted over the intercom.
"What, it can't be&grrrrrrr all right give em hell you guys" Tie said in an angry tone.
Tie went second and Leon gave him support fire because he could actually see where they were. Canon bolts where flying everywhere hitting the rocks or whipping by his walker. Leon saw one Walker sticking out of his boulder and Leon locked on and took a shot but the enemy Walker saw it coming and went back in his boulder. Dangit finally the whole squad had made it to their spots and both groups were going at it.
"Im moving!" Leon shouted over the intercom.
He made a sprint to the next boulder and made it, but he couldn't peer out and shoot because they were all over him. Then Gyro moved up as a distraction and they started shooting at him.

Leon peered out and saw one Walker that was totally distracted. Leon aimed very carefully, and put his finger on the trigger and pulled it. A canon bolt whipped out of his walker and flew exactly where he wanted it to go. The enemy walker started zapping with electricity and turned blue on his Navigations screen(by the way Rizzit the Navigations screen is not the same as the unit, its what you see through)  meaning it was gone.
"Nice shot Leon" Saline said.
Leon blushed, but remembering this was a mission resumed giving cover fire.
"All right you guys on three im going to make a run for the boulder on the right of the finish, and hopefully ill get an angle on one of there Walkers and take him out. Ok Three&Two&One go!" Leon put his Walker full sprint, at first there was noone firing at him but then a hail of Blaster canon fire started raining on him. come on come on i'm almost there Leon knew as soon as he got to the boulder that he would have to turn to the left and take out the Walker or else it would get him. As soon as he got to the boulder he turned to the left and a shot whipped right by his Walker he took a shot without locking on and out of sheer luck hit the Walker.
"Only two more to go, I suggest we rush to the finish line" Leon said over the intercom
"All right everyone comes out blazing on Three&Two&One go!"

Leon came out of the boulder at a fast but not sprinting pace while shooting, he didn't know exactly where they were but he knew they were somewhere on the left side so he kept his fire focused on that side. Leon got to the finish but had to wait for the rest of the group so he kept providing cover fire. One of the enemy walkers came out only to get nailed by Blue Groups fire. Finally the whole squad made it and the last enemy walker turned out to be in the far back of the plains so he couldn't get a good shot at Blue Group.
"Great job blue group! You guys used team work, good strategies, navigation, and excellent use of the drills I taught you. Come back and meet me at the hangar" Mr. Verma said in a happy voice.

When blue group got back to the hangar, the doors were already opened and they could see Mr.Verma waiting for them. Leon guided his walker into the hangar and shut it off as well as the rest of Blue Group.
"Well, that was a very good job I didn't expect for it  to be that easy for you guys so looks like I'm going  to have to make things a little bit harder for you guys. I would give you guys and 8.5 out of 10 only because of that little move at the end. In real life something like that could've gotten you killed, but still it worked so that's what counts, now all of you go home and get a good nights rest. You are dismissed."
Leon felt kind of bad that they didn't get a ten out of ten but the rest of the group were happy and Leon had one more thing to do.
"Hey Saline you want to meet up at the Cantina sometime, maybe tomorrow?"  Leon asked.
"Wow that was unexpected." She said with a smile.
"But yea sure I would love to go"
"All right how about we meet up at seven?" Leon asked
"Definitely" Saline said happily.
Leon had never slept so good in his life; )

Hope you like it Rizzit; )

Vehicle Crewman
Laser/Blaster Gunnery

Leon cleared the mist stained mirror in front of him. He looked at the tired face in the reflection, it had been a long week so far, he had training with his squad the Night Stalkers and it was really tiring. Also the night before he had gone with his new crush to the Cantina and stayed out to late.

It was worth it though. Leon grinned in the mirror remembering how last night had gone. He had felt so happy, talking to Saline. They had at least talked for three hours, and Leon had walked her to her Dorm. When they got there they had a few more exchanging of words and it ended with a little kiss on the cheek. It's not much but it's a start.

After Leon was done making himself look good, he walked into his bedroom, to get changed.

"Good morning, master Leon" His new 3p Series Protocol droid said.
Leon replied with a quick nod as he walked out of his Dorm. Leon had thirty more minutes to get to class and he still needed to get breakfast.

Twenty minutes later

Leon had just gotten in class and was ready for whatever task awaited him. As he walked towards the desks he saw Saline sitting in the back of the class and decided to go sit back there with her.

When she saw him coming she smiled, which made Leon blush.

"Hey loser" She said while giggling.
"Hey, you look happy today, can I ask why?" Leon said while blushing.
"I dunno I just am, its just one of those days. You know what I mean?"
"Yea, I gotcha" Leon said winking with one eye.

The two of them conversed for a little while ignoring what was happening around them. Finally Mr.Verma walked in.

"So! Who's ready for some hard work today?" he said while smiling.
"I am!" Leon replied jokingly, while the whole class just sat still.
"Well at least someone's enthusiastic about training. As usual were going to start off with taking notes. We will learn about Laser/Blaster Gunnery today, so everyone take out there Data Pads and start taking notes."

Leon listened as Mr.Verma told them the things that some weapons could do and how to work them. Most weapons were the same, except on different parts of the Vehicle. On tanks there were two joysticks, one for steering and the other to move the canon around. The trigger on the joystick of the canon was the tanks main weapon and the button on the top of the head of the joystick was the secondary weapon. Some were more advanced though which required locking on a target then activating a switch on the control panel.

Two hours later

"Does everyone understand?" Mr.Verma said after asking his last and final question.

"Yes sir!"

"Well then, now to test you in action. Everyone follow me." Mr.Verma said while gesturing with his hand.

Mr.Verma led the small group of four now, because the other group got eliminated, to the north-west portion of the hangar. The north-western portion of the hangar didn't have any Vehicles, but Simulation Pods. Cool I've never been in one of these things before.

"Today you will be working solo. The objective is to destroy all defenses of the opposing forces and eliminate all opposing Vehicles. Watch out for enemy troops that have missile launchers, you have shields but one direct hit from a high powered missile launcher will take your shields out and then all they have to do is shoot once more at you and your gone. So everyone hop in and good luck."

Leon walked over to one of the pods in the back. He got in and sat on the comfortable chair inside. Then the doors closed automatically making everything pitch black inside the pod. Okkkkkkkk whats next? At the thought of that Leon felt the machine vibrate a little bit and then a bright blinding light came from all directions. The next thing Leon knew he was in the cockpit of a 2-M Saber-Class Repulsor Tank.

"Cool" was all Leon had to say, everything looked real and felt real, it was amazing. He even had the standard Vehicle Crewman outfit on. Then out of nowhere the sounds of distant blaster fire and explosions were heard.

"I guess that's my signal"

Leon took out the Ignition Cylinder out of his duffle bag on the left side of the seat he was on. He then inserted the Ignition Cylinder into the Ignition port which was in the center of the control panel. He felt the Vehicle slowly lift off the ground, and then Leon went to the left side of the control panel and turned on the Navigations screen.

What he saw before him was scary, yet an awesome sight at the same time. About 250 yards away he could see the returning of blaster fire back and forth, he also saw huge explosions every once and a while. He saw the Imperials and they looked like they were getting the crap beaten out of them, and then he found out why. Behind the enemy barricades were Missile turrets that were bombing the hell out of them. On the right side of the Imperials there was a mixture of speeders and Heavy Repulsor tanks that were just bombarding there right flank.

"I better go and help"

After seeing everything that was going on in the battle field Leon went to the right side of the control panel and turned on the Navigations Unit. When he turned it on a series of patterns and attack moves he could do were displayed on the screen which was on his right side. He then reached above him and turned on the radar unit. Next to the Radar unit was a series of switches. Those switches were the safety switches of the weapons which he turned all of them off.

Now that all the systems were prepped Leon started to pick the strategy he was going to use. He saw one strategy that was better then all of them. The good old Flanking strategy. He looked back up onto the what used to be green field but now blackened by explosions and Blaster Fire, battle field. He saw that the only thing they had as protection on the back flank was three missile turrets and two manned E-Webb's. Shouldn't be a problem.

Leon pushed the acceleration lever forward and the tank moved forward with a sudden jolt. He was going thirty miles an hour. He put his left hand on the steering stick and his right on the weapons joystick. He turned the tank to the left, after one minute he turned back to the right heading to the back of the Rebel force.

The closer Leon got the more nervous he became. Even though this was just a simulation, it still felt completely real and Leon treated it that way. The turrets were completely unaware of his presence, when he was 75 yards away he stopped the tank. Leon had no cover and he had to find a way to destroy the three missile turrets and two E-Webb's.

Leon had come up with a plan; it took at least five seconds for the main canon to recharge after a shot. So he was going to take out the turret on his right with the main laser canon and take the one out in the middle with his missile launcher which would result in the two E-Webb's next to it to blow up from the explosion. Then right when he would be done with that his laser canon would be recharged and he would take out the other turret.

Leon aimed his Laser Canon at the turret on his right carefully taking aim. As soon as he knew he had a good shot he put his finger on the trigger and pulled. The Beam shot out of the barrel like red lightning, the target going into an inferno of fire.

Leon quickly turned the Canon barrel around because underneath it was the missile launchers and he pushed the button on the head of the control stick. Leon watched the missiles fly towards there target and turn them into a twisted inferno of fire and metal.

As soon as the other turret started to turn around Leon had already begun moving, his canon was now recharged and he unleashed another red beam from his tank making the next turret go up in flames.

The Rebels finally realized that they were being flanked and had already begun to shoot at Leon. He saw a group of Rebel troopers and Leon started firing his Twin Laser Turrets at them. He watched as there body's got teared apart by the Lasers.

Leon looked to see if the Imperial's realized the distraction he was making and they did. The Rebels had a lot more on there hands now that Leon was in the picture.

Leon quickly tilted the control stick to the left which resulted in him dodging an oncoming missile. He then Aimed the Laser Canon at the Turret that had shot at him and fired, as usual hitting his mark. The sounds of Blaster bolts bouncing off the tanks armor was heard and Leon had realized that he forgot to turn on his shields. Leon quickly reached to the top of the control panel above him and turned the shields on. On his Radar screen he saw multiple troopers on his right and two turrets up ahead.

Leon turned his Twin Laser Turrets to the right and pulled the trigger that was underneath the canon trigger. Again Leon watched the Rebels get torn apart by the oncoming hail of laser fire. Wow, this is actually fun. Leon kept shooting at the Rebel troopers till there was no more on his right side.

He then quickly turned to his front left and shot a blast from his Laser Canon and he watched the Turret go up in flames. Pushing the Acceleration lever to its maximum speed, Leon felt the tank jerk forward saving him from an oncoming missile. While moving forward Leon turned the Canon at the other turret and fired resulting in another hit.

Leon looked forward and realized he was about to have a head on collision with one of the barricades, he put the Acceleration Lever as far back as it could go and the Tank stopped.

The Imperials had used the distraction to there advantage over running the Rebel base and taking over. Leon felt good; it was like his first mission. Then with an abrupt halt everything went black.

The hatch of the pod opened up and Leon was staring back at Mr.Verma.

"Very good Leon, you were the first one to pass, I give you 99 out of 100 which mean you passed, and I liked how you used the missile launcher when your canon was charging to take out other opponents. You can now leave."

"Thanks Mr.Verma, I actually found it quite fun" Leon said with a cheery smile.

Defensive Operations

Wow I can't believe it; I'm actually excited to go to class today. It sucks that I'm not going to be able to see Saline though. As Leon looked at himself in the mirror he saw a frown come across his face. Meh, it won't be that bad. When Leon was done doing his normal morning routine, he headed out to get some food.

Twenty minutes later

After getting his breakfast, Leon found himself sitting in the Hangar. Five more minutes and then class starts. It was weird being in an empty classroom, Leon wasn't used to it, and in a way it was kind of depressing. What made it even worse is that the room was dimly lit, making the Vehicles cast long dark shadows.
For some reason this made Leon tense up, and he was no longer excited, but now he just wanted to get out of class and be around, people.

Finally, after what seemed like a twenty-minute wait, Mr.Verma walked in to the classroom. "Leon! On time as usual, so how is your day going so far?"
"Oh&its great Mr.Verma, just great." Leon replied in a dull but serious tone.
"Well that's very good, because after I'm done with you today, you wont be feeling so great." Mr.Verma said while chuckling.
"So, today what you will be learning is Defensive Operations. This by far is one of the hardest things to learn. I had trouble with it my self, but once learned, it will save your life in real missions. And I know because it has saved mine."

"Now to begin. I will first explain certain maneuvers, some of them you might know and the others you might not. After explaining that I will then teach you the what's and what not to do's when protecting Convoys or Fortresses.
Last but not least we will have the good old simulation test, you will have two choices to choose from, to either guard an AT-TE that is being repaired in the middle of a battle field for twenty minutes, or you can choose to be part of a convoy that is protecting an important cargo ship. So lets start taking notes."

One hour later

After learning the key elements of defensive strategies and protecting your self, and the do's and don'ts of Defensive Operations, they were finally finished. Mr.Verma led Leon to the familiar Simulation pods.
"So, have you made your decision on which mission your going to choose?"

Leon thought about it for a moment, and then decided.
"I'll pick the Convoy mission."
"All right then, your going to be placed in the middle of the Tatooine desert. The Vehicle that you are protecting is a Z-12 Master Speeder Truck, it has a Heavy blaster canon and that's about all. It is upgraded with some shields, but let me tell you those shields won't last long. You will have five other defenders with you and incense the convoy is moving fast, so will you. The Vehicle's you and your squad will be using are the 1-M Medium Repulsor Tanks. The convoy will be going 100kmh and it will take you about fifteen minutes to get to your destination point. It may seem easy but you will be under heavy fire most of the time, and there is barely any cover so you will have to rely on maneuverability. Now hop in and good luck."

Leon inserted his Data Pad into the simulator port and it opened up. He hopped inside and the doors closed. All of a sudden Leon was in a desert with huge dunes everywhere. What a coincidence. Leon realized that he was back on his home planet, or a replication of his home planet. It brought back bad memories but Leon quickly shook them away.

As Leon did the usual systematic start up and checking if everything was ok with the Vehicle he saw the convoy pull up.
"Everyone ready?" Leon asked.
"Yes sir!" The Assistant squad leader said in reply.
"All right, before we move set up in diamond formation."

The Diamond formation was probably Leon's favorite. The Cargo Vehicle would be in the middle, and there would be two defenders on the left and right, and one in front and one in back. Leon took one more look at the dune sea before him. You can never tell where they'll pop up.
"Lets move"

Leon pushed the throttle lever forward until he saw that they were going 100kmh. He looked up at the radar screen to check if there were any enemy's up ahead, only to be blank. Hmmmm that's strange he said we'd be under heavy fire the moment we would get here.
"We got eight unconfirmed Vehicles coming at us from the right and there coming fast!"

Leon looked at his radar screen again and he finally saw the eight red dots.
He looked to his right and saw that they were only speeder bikes.
"It shouldn't be a problem there only Speeders, take'em out quick."

Leon, the two right guards, and the rear guard aimed their heavy repeating blasters.
"On my mark" Leon flipped the safety switch off and locked on to one of the Speeders. He watched the hunched figures get closer and closer until they were about one hundred yards away.

"Fire!" When Leon's finger touched the trigger, an array of blaster bolts shot out of the barrel of his tanks secondary weapon. The charging speeder that Leon had shot at swerved to the left dodging the bolts while making it look easy. He watched the speeder on the right of the one he shot at blow up. The seven remaining speeders spread out into a skirmish line and opened fire on the convoy. Bolts whipped by Leon's tank and three even hit his tank taking out a quarter of his shield.
"Whoa, watch out they have heavy repeating blasters, take em out quick!"

Just as Leon was about to shoot, the Speeders took a sharp turn to the right and then back from where they came from. That was probably just a probe attack. As soon as Leon focused back to the front he heard an explosion on his left side.
"They took out are forward left! We have three Approaching Saber class tanks!"

Shit. This time Leon wouldn't play around.
"All right use your Blaster canon to take them out. They probably have shields so it will take about three hits. I only need the left and rear guard for this one and I want the two right guards to cover the front and right side of the convoy!"

Leon switched the tanks steering to autopilot knowing that there was no turn up ahead. He took some of the Canons firepower and transferred it to his shield to make them stronger. Aiming very carefully, Leon finally had the tank in his sights. He pulled the trigger and watched a red bolt fly towards his enemy. Hit. Leon watched the bolt explode on the shields around the tank, now knowing that he weakened the shields, Leon switched the tank off autopilot knowing that the tank would reply to his fire and of course, it did.

Leon saw the bolt coming towards him and he stepped on the brakes a little bit, which caused the bolt to fly in front of his tank instead of hitting it. After dodging the bolt, Leon took his tanks shield energy and transferred it to the canons firepower. The bar on the shield screen went down to a quarter. I feel bad for this guy. Leon smiled as he pressed the trigger and watched his bolt fly at the opposing tank. The tank tried to strafe to the left but didn't make it out in time getting nailed by the bolt, which resulted in the tank getting ripped apart from the energy put into the canon. Thanks Mr.Verma.

Mr.Verma had told Leon that you can transfer energy from the shields to the firepower or the firepower to the shields, and it helped quite a bit when in battle. After transferring the energy he had gave to his main canon, he then put that energy into the shields, and Leon realized that he only had 50% of his shields left. One of the Saber Tanks on the left of the middle Saber had just erupted in flames. But before Leon and the two other tanks took a shot at the remaining Saber Tank, it had opened fire with its missile launcher and Medium twin laser turrets. The volley of fire flew towards the transport and Leon knew that it wouldn't miss. If it hit the transport then it would only have 25% shields, and if any more fire hit the transport it would be done for. There was nothing Leon could do about it so he opened fire on the remaining tank and watched at the same as the opposing fire struck the Transport. The remaining Saber class tank, now engulfed in flames, had hit its mark.
"All right everyone get in Sword Point formation."

The Sword Point formation was probably the best defensive formation Leon could use. It was basically like the Diamond formation but different, back left guard would take the spot of the forward left and the rear guard would take his spot. The two right guards would stay in there same position but they would get closer to the transport acting as a shield, and the same with the left guards. The only vulnerable spot would be the back of the formation, but if anyone got behind them then the right rear guard and the left rear guard would close up that hole and the right and left guard would close up the formation even more.

Leon switched his tank off autopilot, seeing that instead of going up and over the giant dune that lay before them, it would take them around. Leon didn't like that because all the opposing force would have to do is just wait for them to come around and just open fire on the convoy and they would be done for.
"All right this is what were gonna do. Were not going around the dune were going over, I repeat were not going around but over. Now when we go over that dune were probably gonna clear it and land on flat ground, if there are any enemy's on the other side, I want the two rear guards to close up the back to protect the transport. Then the right front guard and me will break off formation and keep the opposing forces from catching up to the convoy and we will engage the enemy. I then want the rest of the convoy to go in a tight triangle formation around the Transport. You'll probably have the base in sight and they will probably send an escort to you. Everyone got it?"
"Yes Sir!"

Leon felt his shoulder tense and his breathing get faster as he approached the dune. Everything would happen in a matter of split seconds and most of it would rely on him, if he messed up, then the convoy would get destroyed.

The tank tilted upward as it sped onto the giant dune. It was like a roller coaster, waiting for it to come over the top of the tracks and plummet downward. Except this was a little different because they would fly over the top, not drop downward.

"Be ready to clear the top on three&two&one&"
As the tank flew off the dune, Leon looked to his left and saw the seven remaining speeder bikes waiting on the edge of the dune. Heh, they didn't see it coming. As soon as the tanks hit the ground Leon locked on with his main canon and fired a shot, and so did two of his other tanks. The speeders didn't get out of the way in time and the three explosions ripped the speeders and their riders apart.

I hope that's all. The convoy turned back around and looked to see two dunes, one on the left of the convoy and one on right with a trail going in between.
Shit. Leon saw four Saber class tanks blast out of the dune and head strait for the convoy. "Allright I need two tanks with me and the rest of the convoy get out of here as fast as you can!"

Leon knew that him and the two other tanks wouldn't make it out alive but the rest of the convoy would. As soon as Leon broke out of formation, he started shooting a volley of shots with his canon and his repeating blaster. He hit his mark but the tank had shields. Bolts started flying again and Leon got hit by one of the missiles and his shields were gone. Leon knew that he would have to get behind one of the dunes, or else he would get ripped apart like so many of their tanks had. While strafing to the right to doge a canon shot Leon replied with his own canon but missed. "Damit!" Leon screamed in frustration as one his guards got ripped apart by two    Saber's canon fire, while at the same time his other tank had just lost its shields.

Going for the same tank he had went for in the beginning Leon fired another shot at the Saber and nailed it making its shields go away. "Now to finish you off!" Leon had started pounding the tank with his Heavy repeating blaster and watch as the bolts opened a huge hole in the tanks cockpit and a red mist sprayed out of the tank. Blood lust filled Leon's eyes as he saw the red mist float out of the Vehicle. His remaining ally had just been blown to bits by the three remaining tanks.

By the time the enemy tanks had turned around, Leon was gone. As soon as they turned around to go chase the Convoy Leon bursted out of a sand dune and ripped his blasters and canon at one of the weakest tanks. For a second the tanks shields were protecting it and the canon and blaster bolts just erupted around the tank. Then the tank got ripped in half as his bolts hit its mark. But there were two more tanks and Leon didn't have a chance. He managed to dodge two canon shots, but then he watched the blaster bolts fly towards his cockpit and as soon as they hit, Leon was engulfed in darkness.

"Damit!" Leon screamed in frustration as he got out of the Simulator.
"What are you so mad about? You passed" Mr.Verma said.
"What? How did I pass, I died"
"You just had to make sure the transport made it, and it did. It was stupid of you to leave the transport only with two guards but it worked. So you can go on home now, and have a good day." Mr.Verma said with a smile.

Leon was happy that he passed, but at the same time he had died. I died&what if that had been real? I can't believe what I just did. Leon was still in shock when he came out of the classroom, he had just sacrificed himself for somebody or something he didn't know. But, he did sacrifice himself for something&and that something was the Empire.

I'll pass it. I would have liked you to use the repulsorcraft capabilities of the tanks a bit more. You can basically turn your tank in any directoin you want while still going one way. It could help in certain situations when defending. Also, try not to repeat yourself. We already knew what you were going to be learning, so saying what you learned after the 20 minute reference was just extra. Nothing too important, but just a minor detail. Good work otherwise. I look forward to your next one.

Vehicle Crewman
  Armament Repair

The small dorm room lay silent; the only noise that could be heard was the heavy breathing of the hard working trooper that lay in bed. This past week had been very hard for the young man and it didn't look like it was going to get any better. His training kept getting harder, longer, and more exhausting. The only thing he had time to do was eat and maybe talk on the phone with someone and then sleep.

The only positive thing that was coming out of this was his crush, Saline. But the only time he could spend with her was over the phone, and his usual cocky, happy attitude was gone, being replaced by a very dull attitude.

A sudden change in temperature had disturbed the boy, now kicking off his covers. His eyes slowly opened after a few minutes of trying to find a comfortable position. Leon, now angry, rose from bed to go check the air conditioning. After a few minutes of turning the dial left and right, Leon now realized that it was broken.
"You got to be kidding me!" Leon said in a frustrated tone. "Just great, now the god dam air conditioning is broken" Leon started quickly pacing the bed room while opening and closing his hands into a tight fist to keep himself from breaking something.

After a few minutes of trying to calm down, Leon decided to go take a shower to wake him self up. Just a Leon was about to step in the shower; he noticed that he hadn't shaved in a long time. He looked manlier, not as young as he always looked. He liked the look; Leon thought it suited him for the time being.

After showering, brushing his teeth, and getting his stuff ready, Leon realized it was only 5:00 and decided to take a quick nap. No matter how hard he tried Leon couldn't fall asleep, it was to hot, and he was too uncomfortable.

At 5:30 Leon left his Dorm and decided to start heading towards his class, his next Vehicle Crewman course started at 7:00. When Leon got to his classroom, the doors were locked. So Leon decided to sleep on the floor.
At least there's air conditioning.

It felt actually felt pretty good, it wasn't the best bed, but it was nice and cold and he had his duffle bag as a pillow. "Leon, Leon, come on wake up what are you doing sleeping out here? C'mon wake up!"

"I don't feel like waking up mom, leave me alone." Leon said while shaking whoever it was away. "It's me Saline, c'mon Leon wake up!" As soon as Leon heard that name he instantly sat up and found himself staring into Saline's,
Beautiful deep blue eyes. "Hey&what are you doing here?"
"Well, I haven't seen you in two days and I just wanted to stop by and say hi." Saline said. Leon noticed that she was blushing and took that as a good sign.
"Thanks&a lot you just made my day a whole lot better." Leon said with a huge grin on his face.

The two talked for about ten more minutes and then Leon realized that he had three more minutes before class started.
"Looks like I better get going, I don't want to be late for class, but you want to do something later? Maybe go to the Cantina?"
"Yea, I would love to"
"All right, cool" The two stared at each other for what seemed forever to Leon and then he decided he should make a move. He took a step closer to her and slowly slid his arms around her, bringing her closer to him. He brought his face closer and closer to her and she did the same. When her lips touched his, Leon felt like&like& the happiest man in the universe. Then he slowly pulled away, and they were both smiling. They stood like that for about ten more seconds and then Leon gave her one more quick little kiss and then let go of her. "Well I'll see you later" Leon said with a huge smile.
"Yea, I'm looking forward to that" Leon watched her quickly walk away and then turned around and headed towards his next class.

"There you are! I was wondering where you were, you usually show up before me." Leon turned to the right to see Mr.Verma sitting at his desk. Now back to being his normal self, Leon was ready to do anything that Mr.Verma threw at him.

"May I ask why you might be so happy today?"
"Well, lets just put it this way Mr.Verma, I'm no longer single" Leon's grin couldn't be any bigger.
"Hehehe, I'm glad to hear that boy, but we better get started on today's assignment. Hopefully all that air didn't get to your head" Mr.Verma let out a silent chuckle and then stood up while picking up the familiar Hologram that contained all his notes.

"Don't worry Leon, were not taking notes. Now you know that today you will be learning Armament Repair. This is probably the most important part of a Vehicle Crewman, to repair a Vehicle while under fire, and let me tell you, it's not easy."

Mr.Verma activated the Hologram, and a diagram popped up. There were lines pointing everywhere, to each part of the blaster canon. After a few minutes of studying the chart, Leon finally realized that this by far, would be the hardest course for him. "Do I have to learn all of that?"
"No, you don't&" For a moment Leon got excited, thinking that this course wouldn't be all that bad. "Of course you do Leon, since when have I made you take a class without learning something. Don't worry it's not as hard as it looks. Now lets begin."

"As you see here we have, the Blaster canon, and the Laser canon. First we will learn about the Blaster canons and how they work. If you know how something works then you can fix it, and that's a fact. When you pull the trigger on a Blaster canon this is what happens. The squeeze of the trigger emits volatile blaster gas into a conversion chamber, where it is excited by the weapons power source. The agitated gas is then funneled through the actuating blaster module, where it is processed into an intense particle beam.
A prismatic crystal focuses the beam, and passes it through a refinement chamber, which galvanizes the beam into its final cone like shape called the bolt. That is also how any kind of blaster weapon works, but what make's the Blaster canon so special is that it shoot's several of these at once."

Mr.Verma took a pause as he switched to another image, slightly similar to the Blaster canon but different in certain ways. "The Laser canon's process is the same except it shoots a plasma beam at an extremely low density, which causes it to do more destruction and it's range is a lot longer then the Blaster canon."

Mr.Verma continued on with how to repair, build and the anatomy of these two weapons for about two more hours and then it was time for the testing.
"Do you understand most of what I taught you? Because if you don't, I can start the whole lecture over again." Mr.Verma said with a devious smile.
"No I understand everything Mr.Verma, I'm ready for what ever it is your gonna throw at me."
"All right then let's go head over to the speeders shall we?"

WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Speeder's that's my specialty. This should be easy hehehehehehe.   Mr.Verma didn't take Leon to the standard military speeders but to the BARC speeders.
"Wow, I'm gonna be working on those, that's awesome. This should be fun."
"Oh believe me, it will be fun. So as you can see, one of the Blaster canons has been ripped off from the bike and the other has a hole in it from a bolt.
In twenty-five minutes I want this bike fixed, if it's not fixed in twenty-five minutes, you have to retake this class next week. So your toolbox is over there, it's the standard Vehicle Crewman toolbox and it has everything you need. Begin on three&two&one go!"

Leon quickly jogged over to the toolbox and brought it over to the bike. He would begin with the ripped off blaster, the damage on the blaster it self didn't look all that bad, just a few scratches, and the part that connected the blaster to the bike had been ripped off of the blaster and was still on the bike, but luckily for Leon the wiring was still connected except for one wire that was ripped in half but that would be easy to fix.

After putting on his safety equipment Leon began fixing the bike. Leon used the toolbox as a stand, so the blaster could be closer to the part that held it. The wiring was the first thing Leon would start off with. It was a green wire that had been stripped at one point and some of the copper rods were ripped, Leon took out a very handy tool that was built for wiring, he quickly melted each of the copper rods back in place and then put tape around it to protect it.
After doing that Leon noticed that all this blaster would need was some good welding work onto the connector. Leon pulled out the blowtorch and held the blaster to the connector. Making sure that the Blaster was aligned with the sights, Leon began to slowly smelt the blaster back on. After five minutes of some good welding, Leon went to go check if the Blaster was in working condition.

He turned on the speeder and flicked off the safety switch, the blaster indicator on the screen showed green for the one he had just connected, and he heard the blaster charge, he pulled the trigger and a bolt flew out of the barrel of the canon. Yessssssssss.

Leon turned the speeder off again so when he would be repairing the vehicle nothing would happen to him. The welding didn't look the best but it was perfectly aligned with the sights, and that's what counted. Leon then quickly moved the toolbox to the other side of the speeder, and he knew that this side was gonna be a lot harder to fix.

The blaster had a hole in it that was about the size of his fist, and the insides didn't look too good. It had taken five minutes to take the blaster apart and there was only eight minutes left. Leon quickly scanned the insides of the blaster and noticed that the conversion chamber was completely gone.
Leon quickly searched the toolbox for an extra conversion chamber knowing that that was the most important part so it had to be in there and he eventually found one.

The hard part was going to be to put the conversion chamber on, first he would have to find a piece of metal and place it over the hole and weld it on, and then he would have to install the Conversion chamber, but he had to make sure it was in the right spot, because if not, then the blaster could just blow up which would cause shrapnel to go every where and he would probably die.

Now to find some metal. Leon quickly  scanned the room for anything he could use, and then realized that he could cut off the top of the tool box with a vibro-saw , and then cut it into the same size as the hole. After getting the Vibro-saw Leon cut the hinges that held the top of the toolbox together and then quickly started cutting a metal piece that would be just the right size to substitute the hole.

It didn't look to good but it worked. Some red metal now replaced the hole, which had been apart of the toolbox. Now for the Conversion chamber

The Conversion chamber was a small cube with a hole going through the middle of it, the only problem is that, the hole had to be perfectly aligned with the power source. It would require some welding and precision. Leon carefully put the small cube down and after two minutes of trying to get a good angle, was now done. Now all he had to do was weld it on and he would be good to go. Leon pulled out the mini blowtorch and welded the cube down to the metal plate. Then he started quickly putting the Blaster together piece by piece and then attached it to the speeder and he was good to go.

After making a systems check, Leon decided it was time to test the canon.here goes nothing The charge of the canons could be heard and then Leon pressed the trigger, they both shot but, the right Blaster canon had a delayed reaction, it shot about one second after the left blaster canon.

Leon had finished exactly at twenty-four minutes. It was a close one but he did it. Leon turned around to see Mr.Verma staring at the speeder.
"It's messy, very messy, but it works. Out of a one through ten scale I give you an eight because of the delayed reaction&" Mr.Verma paused to think and this made Leon suddenly nervous. "You pass, now go have some fun, you deserve a break"

Yeah, you pass. You definitely studied up a bit on blasters and such, and you seem to know how things like that work. Good work there. I only have two comments. One, at the beginning of your post you have some stuff that really isn't in the Star Wars universe. It's a little more high tech shall we say. They don't use phones and such. Comlinks, intercom systems, personal communicators, imagecasters, and the like are what people use. My only real concern is your wordiness and your run-on sentences. You have some whole paragraphs in there that are one long sentence. Make sure you don't keep going by adding a comma and a conjunction. Periods are your friend. Plus, the semicolon would have worked better in some of those sentences. There is some wordiness in there as well. Try to reduce that in your writing, and it will become easier to read. Good work for the actual specialty though.

Scout Training
Marksmanship

Private First Class Lartaz "Murderedmonk" San D'Oria woke up from a nightmare that frequently haunts him. Murderedmonk laid in bed for fifteen minutes like usual after his nightmares. He started to doze off when a sudden noise startled him. Damn Alarm. He rose out of bed and began getting ready for his training in an hour. Who would have thought that I would have to take this much training. He hastely made his way to the acadamy so he wouldn't be late. When he made it to the acadamy, Droid R8 was looking for him. "Private First Class San D'Oria please follow me to your class." I'm glad this droid found me or I would have never got to class. When the droid opened the door, Murderedmonk walked in and had a seat. The classroom was small and only had four Stormtroopers in it.

"Hello class and welcome to Scout Training," the instructor said cheerfully. "I am Major Kellurd," he said, "I have 15 years experience as an Imperial Scout. Now that you know a little about me, I want to know a little bit about you. We will start from the right and work our way across. When it is your turn to introduce yourself, You will stand and tell everyone your rank and the name you prefered to be called. This can be your biological name or an alias. First trooper your up."

Murderedmonk really didn't listen to the others introducing themselves, although he got their names and ranks. When it was finally his turn he stood up and said, "I am Private First Class Lartaz "Murderedmonk" San D'Oria. I preferred to be called Murderedmonk." "That is an interesting name private. Is there anything it stands for?" Murderedmonk reluctantly answered the question. When are we going to start studying. This is just waisting precious time.

Major Kellurb started the lesson. "Everyone take out your datapad and plug it up. I will transfer anything that is recomended for you to keep. Now, lets get started. Scouts are masters of Reconnaissance and Marksmanship. Reconnaissance is a scouts major role, but more on that later. Today we are going to focus on marksmanship. This means we will have a short lesson. After that lesson we will make our way to the designated range. On the range, we are going to practice accurate, deadly shooting. After that we will have an exam on everything we covered. Any questions?" The Major wait a couple of seconds then decided to start.

"There are several things in the eviroment that can effect your aim. Some examples are: wind, foliage, distance, ect. There are ways to prevent these though. To prevent wind all you got to do is adjust your rifle. Any good scout can do this propurly. Those he can't will need to invest in a digital viewfinder. There really isn't an easy way to prevent foliage, but you can pick a vantage point that gives your clear line of sight. Distance is the easiest to counter. There is an object on all sniper rifles called a viewfinder. This zooms in and out, eliminating distance as something that effects your aim."

"Enviromental effects aren't the only factors in marksmanship. There is also your control. Your breathing also effects your aim. When you are aiming correctly, you still have factors that can cause you to miss. One is how you press the trigger. Squeezing the trigger will be more effective than jerking the trigger. Any questions. Why is the major only covering the obvious. I taught myself more than this has.

"Ok good. Line up by ranks and get ready to go to the fireing range. Corporal Tillman is first, Private Driggers is last. Lets head out." Murderedmonk and Millope picked up there datapads. After a short walk the scout cadet arrived at the Fireing range. "Everyone pick up a E-11/M Marksman Rifle and head to the designated fireing booths. Shoot five rounds standing, 7 rounds crouched, and 10 rounds prone." About an hour later they headed toward the simulation room. They new that they getting close to the end of the days lesson.

"Ok you have a choice of any rifle you want. It is suggested that you use either a E-11/M Marksman or a SharpshoorerV persicion rifle. You're armor will be scout camo modified armor. Earlier we downloaded a map in your datapad. It should help tremendously. If you bothered bringing it with you. Your first objective is to identify the imperial mole. He is expected to meet a General of the rebels. Do Not shoot the rebel mole. Only shoot the General if you have a clear shot understood?" "Yes sir!' the scout cadets said in unison. "One more thing. This is a solo mission. Corporal Tillman your up." Murderedmonk waited restlessly for the Corporal to finish. 30 minutes rolled around and the Corporal was finished. He got the name of the mole but was killed in action. Lance Corporal Millope started his exam. Murderedmonk was eager to see Millope's results. An hour later Millope returned. He accomplished the mission. He didn't get a clear shot at the General though. "PFC Murderedmonk, Up and ready!"

Murderedmonk requested a Whisper Subsonic Slugthrower Sniper Rifle and also asked for a Q2s5 Hold-out scout blaster pistol. He figured he should be prepared for anything. "Mission starts in three, two, one..." Murderedmonk inserted on a speed bike. Thats odd. I figured we would insert near the rebel base. He stoped the speed bike and checked his datapad to check to see where he was going. The entrance to the camp was about a thirty minute walk toward the north. He decided to take up a position to the northeast. He figured that if he was on a flank instead of infront of the base, he would have a better chance of a successful extraction. He crept through the woods toward an old abandoned shack, that he dicided to take up posistion in. The shack was about fifteen minutes away when he noticed something flash. He reacted to the flash and pulled out his blaster pistol. As he moved toward the object he realized it was a rebel sharpshooter. Murderedmonk crept slowly toward the rebel until he was within reaching distance. Murderedmonk grabbed the rebel's head and effortlessly snapped his neck. Him I got an Idea. This is a simulation, and I'm the only imperial soldier out here. If I take the rebels clothes then if I am seen then they want shoot me. Murderedmonk you are a genous.Murderedmonk quickly changed from his armor to the rebels tarnished clothes. As he arrived at the shack, a speedbike stopped at the entrance to the camp. There seemed to be a ceremonialy dressed Imperial Officer on the speedbike and Murderedmonk immediately registered him as the mole. The Officer got off the speedbike and Murderedmonk zoomed in on his name tag. He had the insignia of a Major and the name on the tag said Kellurd. Ah ha, the major is the rebel mole. Murderedmonk focused in on the huge gate. A well dressed rebel stepped out from the gate and started to talk to the major. Murderedmonk steadied his breate and focused on squeezing the trigger. At that moment another man stepped out and started to talk to the major. Oh course, they were haveing a safety precaution. I almost ruined it. The major seemed more concentrated on the one that just came out. Without even thinking Murderedmonk squeezed the trigger and killed the General. He didn't stay around long enough to see how much chaos he had caused. Murderedmonk's only concerns were on excaping. He double timed all the way back to the speedback with absolutly no resistance. I got to say it, I'm one slick trooper. Murderedmonk successfully extrated and once again returned to the simulation room.

"Good work PFC." Major Kellurd said. "Driggers your up." Murderedmonk didn't even pay attention to how long it was until the private came out. Driggers was shot by the same sniper Murderedmonk had dispatched. "The two of you who completed the mission will come back to training tomarrow. The other two will go back to regular duty. Dismissed!" Murderedmonk went straight to his bunk and went to sleep. For the first night in a while Murderedmonk didn't have his horrible nightmare.

Woah, jumping the gun there. I like your enthusiasm and effort taking in finding specialties so quickly, but you can't start with Scout. It is a higher level specialty which you have to work to get. Talk to me on IRC later today if you get on, so we can go over this properly.

Specialise Training: Heavy Weapon Specialist
Course 1: Fire Support Tactics

Alan arrived at the training ground and was met by the training instructor, a Sergeant by the name of Bentar.  He was tall and lean and sported a moustache.  He was quite old by the looks of it.  Alan looked at him and thought I'm going to learn a lot from him

Bentar took Alan to a rather old looking laser cannon.

"This is an Atgar 1.4 FD P-Tower laser cannon" said Bentar.

Alan walked around the tower, examining it closely "I've never seen one like it before"

"No, you probably haven't" replied Bentar "it is a very outdated piece of technology, but, if you can master this then you can master anything more advanced.  Now, ordinarily the weapon requires a four man team, the gunner and three support personnel.  We have since modified this so that all it requires is the primary gunner.  Come and feel what it's like to be in the gunnery position"

Alan moved to the targeting section and kneeled down, looking through the targeting scope.

As Alan was looking through the scope, Bentar continued "now, as you can see, beside the targeting scope is a stick, try moving it".

Alan reached for the stick and moved it.  All of a sudden, the turret moved and he watched as the terrain within the scope changed.

"Now, we have four stationary targets out there, locate them and destroy them".

Alan moved the joystick around until he located two rebel tanks sitting side by side.  Lining up the first one in his sights, he pressed the trigger.  Bentar looked on as the ground erupted to the left of the tank.

"Now" said Bentar "as you can see, you missed the target marginally".

"But I had it in my sights" protested Alan.

"I'm sure you did, however, you need to factor in the weather.  Right now there is an exceptionally strong wind blowing from the east which is making your shots go wide of their target, you need to compensate".

Alan moved the stick around again and pressed the firing mechanism.  He was delighted when he watched the tank explode.  Now that he was getting the hang of it he swivelled the turret round to the second tank and pressed the firing mechanism.  Nothing happened.

Bentar watched at the success of the hit and then at the lack of a second shot "congratulations private, you have made your first kill, but as you can see, the cannon is now useless.  It will take up to ten seconds before the cannon is charged for another shot".

"Ten seconds!" said Alan "that is an eternity out there in the battlefield".

"Yes it is, so you must plan your shots carefully" replied Bentar.

Alan targeted the second tank and watched with satisfaction when it exploded.  He swivelled the cannon around, locating the remaining targets and destroying them effectively, ensuring that he waited for the cannon to recharge before firing a second time.

"Well done private" commended Bentar.

Alan noticed a dial to the right of the targeting scope, "what's this for sir?"

Bentar replied "that is the strength of the shot, it is currently set at optimum strength, any lower and it would be useless against those tanks, any stronger and you run the risk of burning our your cannon".

Alan nodded as his stored all the information given to him.

"Now, shall we move onto something more challenging?" asked Bentar

"Of course" replied Alan.

"Good" replied Bentar "you are to defend this summit, your position is about to be overrun by rebel tanks.  Once these tanks have reached the summit they will be in a primary position to destroy our base of operations and we cannot let that happen.  For this simulation, the tanks are automated and will not be firing back but if any reach this summit then you have lost and our base will have been destroyed, do you understand?"

"Yes" said Alan, "sounds too easy though, what's the catch?"

"The catch as you say it is that with the slow recharge rate on this cannon, you will have to act very swiftly if you are to disable all of these tanks, one miss and I fear you will have failed this exercise".

"I understand" replied Alan

"Are you ready private?" asked Bentar.

Alan settled himself against the scope and nodded.

"Then let the test commence" said Bentar as he pressed a button.

Alan watched as his scope was suddenly filled with rebel tanks.  Counting them quickly, he noted that there was ten tanks in total, moving in unison in a perfect line.  Wasting no time he fired the first shot, the tank exploded.  Counting down the seconds, Alan zeroed in on the next tank and fired, another hit.

Bentar looked on, watching tank after tank explode.  Looking at his watch he knew that it was going to be tight, but if this private did not miss then he would just about make it before the tanks reached the summit.

Alan fired again and again.  Tank after tank erupted in balls of flame.  Swivelling the turret round, Alan noted that he only had two tanks left.  Zeroing in on the next tank he fired.  The ground beside the tank erupted.

Bentar looked at the miss and shook his head, knowing all too well that the wind had changed direction and Alan had failed to compensate.  He knew that the success of this task was over and that Alan had no time to get off two shots now.

"Looks like you failed private" said Bentar

Alan grimaced at the words failed.  Not if I can help it, I will not let this base be destroyed he thought as he turned the power button to the maximum setting.

"What on earth do you think you are doing private?" queried Bentar

"My job sir" replied Alan as he fired.  As soon as the shot left the cannon, the electrical system shorted out in a shower of sparks.  The blast from the cannon missed both targets and erupted into the ground.

"You have failed private" said Bentar "not only have you failed to stop these tanks, but you have also destroyed the cannon".

"Have I failed sir?" queried Alan

"Of course you have private, just look" said Bentar as he pointed towards the two tanks.  His mouth opened as he looked at the tanks.  They had not reached the summit, nor were they moving any further forward.  Instead, the last shot from the cannon had made a large hole in the ground and both tanks had fallen into it and were now immobile.

"Very impressive" said Bentar

"Thank you sir" replied Alan, smiling.

"You will be pleased to know that you have passed private" said Bentar, shaking his head slightly as he watched the cannon shooting sparks.

Where do I get these hotshots from thought Bentar as he started writing his report on the session.

I'll pass it. Next time, try to stick closer to the chosen mission. This one was Fire Support Tactics. You did do some of that, but the majority of it had only a little to do with the topic. Just something to try to do better in later specialties. Also, try to stick with weapons you can actually pick up and use in the future, or use smaller cannon types like an E-web. Good work otherwise.

Tanus Solvona, PFC
Squad specialty story: Combat Engineer
Story: Basic Electronics and Wiring (Blaster and Weapons repair)

Tanus woke up on a bright sunny morning and put on his work clothes and went down to the main desk. He walked up to the receptionist and said, "Excuse me, miss, I was told to report to training room 247 to begin my Combat Engineer training, Do you know where that is?" The receptionist looked up from the stacks of datapads and flimsi piled next, in fron of, and to the sides of her. Surprisingly, she responded with a smile. "Yes, sir, hold on one moment." The receptionist's fingers danced along the keys of the computer for what seemed like a millisecond, and she looked back up at Tanus just as quickly. "The room is down this hallway," she said as she pointed to the hallway directly behind her. "Its the 3 third door on your right." Tanus nodded. "Thank you very much. Have a nice day." Tanus then proceeded to the hallway and into the room. "Nice kid," the receptionist said.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Tanus stood in front of the doors for a few seconds, taking deep long breaths as the doors slid open to reveal a stark white room with seemingly reflective tiles that shown his visage everywhere he looked. He looked around and saw a number of chairs with books on them, with datapads strewn in random places. He picked up some of the books and began to look at them, noting the different techniques used in repair of wiring and weaponry. As he set the book down, he turned to see a man, middle aged with graying hair, sitting behind the desk. He saluted the men. "Stand down, son. I'm just here to teach you the finer points of repairing a door. No need to salute." Tanus stood down immediately. "I'm sorry, sir. I didn't mean to offend you." Tanus stood completely still. The man chuckled. "It's alright, son, I get it a lot. Well, I suppose I should introduce myself. My name is Dorlan Korr, and I'll be your instructor for the time being." Dorlan went to grab a data pad and sat on the desk. "Hmmmm, it seems you have quite a resume. Member of the Onderonian Royal Guard, Imperial trooper. I also heard that before you even joined with us, you were an amateur weapons smith, is that correct?" Tanus nodded. "Yes, sir, I crafted my own pistol and vibro-blade. I also modified my own armor from the guard, which I use on missions." Dorlan nodded with approval, giving Tanus' datapad another lookover. Dorlan jumped off the desk and gestured for Tanus to follow him. "C'mon, kid. We're goin to a work area, I wanna see what you can really do."

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Tanus followed Dorlan for what seemed like miles down endless hallways. All he could tell was that they made several turns and actually looped back once. "Does he even know where we're going?" Tanus thought. Eventually, they made it to a work room, where the walls were lined with hyprospanners and fusion cutters as far as the eye could see. Dorlan took up a chair and gestured to the table next to him. "These rifles and pistols were all damaged during a raid on a New Republic base near Ralltiir some time ago. I want you to diagnose the problems of each rifle, and, if possible, repair them so we can actually use them. You may begin... now."

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Tanus turned around nad picked up one of the rifles in front of him: the bore and chamber were completely fused shut; there was no possible way to fix it. The next two rifles he examined were merely hit with electrical charges, so it was a question of just getting rid of the old exciters and gas chambers and refitting them. The fourth rifle was a trick; it was fully functional and had a full cartridge. The fifth rifle had been hit with multiple blasts from another blaster weapon, as indicated by the carbon scoring along the sides. He also noticed that the gas chamber and crystal housing was damaged. "Hmmm, this one could be tricky..." Tanus thought. He then turned to Dorlan and told him his diagnosis of each weapon. "OK," Dorlan said. "Now how do you plan to go about this?" Tanus then turned around grabbed a pair of goggles off the wall, along with a hydrospanner and a fusion cutter, among other various repair materials. He immediately fremoved the first and fourth blasters from the set, as there was nothing he could possibly do for them. He picked up the next rifle and began dissecting it, quickly removing the exciter and gas chamber, which were completely fried. He turned around and immediately what he needed, plus many extras, which he grabbed.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

He then sat back down and began installing the new exciter and gas chamber into both the rifle he was working on and the rifle next to it. He then moved to the next rifle and sat down in front of it, lifting up the screwdriver, and began very carefully to remover the casing of the rifle. When he got it off and looked inside, he noticed that the gas chamber had fused to the crystal housing. Tanus reached for his hydrospanner to see if he could possibly move the piece; it wouldn't budge. He then picked up his cutting laser and began to eat way at the edges of the fused gas chamber. Within moments, he claimed his prize. He noticed that the crystal was completely black; probably from the blasts the rifle took. He extracted the crystal with a pair of tongs and went rummaging for a new crystal in his mess of weapons parts. He finally found one. and installed into the housing, along with a gas chamber and a new supply of freelol, which was running dangerously low. He then placed all the supplies away and replaced the goggles where he had gotten them. He turned around to Dorlan and handed him one of the blasters. "Go ahead, give it a go," Tanus said with a smirk. Dorlan nodded and turned around and aimed at the wall and pulled the trigger. A brilliant red bolt of focused energy shot out of the barrel and hit the wall with a "PZZT!"; luckily, the room was soundproof. Dorlan smiled and turned to Tanus. "Well, Tanus, I think we're done for today. You can go now." Tanus bowed and turned to leave, amazingly finding his way back to his room.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

The following day, there was a knock on Tanus' door. He went to open the door, but saw no one there; only a datapad. Tanus picked it up and a message scrolled over the screen: "Good job, kid. You passed. Welcome to the first stage of CE Training." Tanus sighed with relief and went back to fall on his bed. And all he did was stare at the ceiling for a while. Soon, he drifted off into a sound slumber.

It's good. In the future when writing, not just on specialties, make a new paragraph every time the person talking switches. That's just something basic. You can go on to the next story.
