Awhile ago I was talking with Talon about creating animals for the VE created worlds. I started with Cepany since that is where my squad's mission is taking place right now. I have taken it upon myself to draw what I can, and create the animals for the VE worlds. There will be pictures for some of them eventually, but right now my scanner is being evil and I can't get the picture on yet. I have a bunch that I am still touching up, but here are the first two. Talon has approved them. I will be posting the stats on the rest when I am finished with them. If anyone would like to help, e-mail me at [email protected]. I am open to suggestions, and if you want to graphically desing them, by all means go ahead. Just send the picture to me or post it here and I or someone above me will approve them. If you have a great idea to add to these, just post your suggestion here.

  Cephound:

This is a dangerous animal. It has very sharp eyes and hearing. They like to run in packs of five or more. They seem to have clans or packs and are often disputing over territory. They have a strong family bound. If one of their members is hurt, they will track down the person or thing that harmed it and will never give up until they have. The Cephound is one and a half meter tall and two meters long. It has three inch claws and razor sharp teeth. It's underside can vary from a blood red color to dark orange. It's fur is dark black, allowing it to blend into the dark forests of Cepany. It's eyes are able to see great distances. It's hearing has been speculated to use sonar to aid in it's hunting. This is why they are almost always growling when on the hunt. It is carnivorous, but can supplement its diet with vegitation if wildlife is scant. Because of their ferocity, the Cephound has been hunted and forced into the wilder parts of Cepany. Travelers should still be wary when on the outscirts of towns, since the Cephound sometimes wanders close in search of food.

  Crawbird:

A small, tree dwelling bird, this animal can achieve speeds of 35 k/h when in flight. It is about the size of a small ball. It is 1/3 meter tall by 2/5 meters long. It is an herbivor and is quite docile. The only time it will hurt another creature is if its own life or a member of its brood is in danger. These small creatures are very colorful, which is why their feathers are used to decorate ornate head pieces and other articles of clothing. At one point, the government had to ban the hunting of these creatures to keep them alive.

Gardrak:

This herd animal can be found on the plains for Cepany. They normally travel in herds of ten to fifteen. The Gardrak is a large beast. It is five meters tall by six meters long. An herbivor, the Gardrak is normally well tempered, unless it is defending itself. The Gardrak has scales covering its entire body except for its legs, where a coarse fur grows. It has a beak and an extended head and tail. Spikes run down its back, but they can be shaved down or cut off. In the earlier times of Cepany's history, Gardraks were a form of transportation. Due to their large size, they gave a high vantage point from the ground and were also able to travel across large areas of terrain quickly. The Gardrak sheds its scales as it grows. These scales can either be used as decorative pieces, or the large scales are even used as forms of armor. The scales are quite durable and last for many years. The Gardrak scales are shaded from dark tan to light green, but turn translucent when are shed off the body for a long period of time.

  Slimmer:

Slimmers are a tri-pod, amphibian animal. They like moist environments and freshwater. You can normally find them burrowing into the muddy banks of rivers and streams to cool their body temperature down. They are a foot tall by a foot wide. Their skin can range in color from yellow to dark brown. An interesting feature are the animals three eyes. These eyes are attached to the main body by stalks. This gives the Slimmer the ability to see in almost all directions at once. They have webbed feet and are very slow on land. Due to their size and inability to move quickly, slimmers are hunted by most predators on Cepany. They do have a potentially dangerous defence. They have the ability to spit venom from a pounch in their mouths at any target within two meters. This venom attacks the muscle around the area it hits. Causing it to swell and grow numb. If it comes in contact with the eye, it can cause sever blindness. Before modern medical equipment, this venom was used for some medical purposes. If extracted and purified, the venom can be used for clotting blood, numbing sever pain when forced to cut off a limb, and other medical functions. But if used improperly when applied, the purified venom can cause more damage than good.

  Dag'run:

On the shores of Cepany, this pesky animal can be found eating the precious crystal minerals. The Dag'run is a large worm that feeds on minerals. The average Dag'run grows to be three meters long and a half a meter wide. There have been records of them far exceeding that amount though. The largest one ever discovered was seven meters long by one and half meters wide. The Dag'run has a large front mouth that it uses to eat the dirt and crystal. Its digestive system then absorbs the mineral and excretes the excess through its many pores. Once the undigestable food has been fully processed they are pushed out the back end. One advantage of the animals is the finished product of its digestive system. The compact crystal that it can't absorb are crushed together and form one of a kind formations of a different type of crystal from the orginal.. These crystals are a rarity. Because of this feature, Dag'runs are ussually captured and used to make these crystals. Unfortunately, the waste caused by its eating habits far exceed the value of the crystals, which is why the are exterminated from any areas that they are found at besides the famrs. A full grown Dag'run is able to eat a half a ton of ore a day. The Dag'runs are now held in collective farms and are kept there by the fear of the damage they could cause if released.

(OOC I thought I would just keep editing the above ones, but then I realized you would never really know if I had finished another one.)

  Agradate:

The Agradate is an aquatic animal that can be found in the oceans of Cepany. It is a large animal, two meters wide by six meters long. It is one of the more ferocius sea animals. It's appearance would be that of a snake. It has five fins along its body: two sets of two that are about two meters apart from eachother and a large one at the end of its long body. It also has two claws that protrude from the area near its head. These are used to either kill its prey or direct it towards its mouth. The Agradate has the common ability among land snakes to unhinge its jaw, allowing it to eat things bigger than itself. It has a very long tongue that it uses to latch onto its prey, alive or dead, and drag it into its mouth. It secretes a stunning agent in its mouth which it then uses to stun and slightly digest its prey. The Agradate are only found very deep below the surface of the water. Even though they are sometimes dangerous, they are a very beautiful animal to look at and are sought after because of this feature. Its scales can range from bright green to dark aqua. Its head is the main reason people wish to search for it. Its head has many small holes on it that sand is pushed into as it is an infant. As it grows older, the sand builds up and forms into pearls. These pearls are attched to the head and give it a dotted white appearance. Once it is fully grown, an adult Agradate can have fifty pearls on its head.

hmm, cairo, i can offer you my help on the drawings, since i have free timevduing the week for that,
also, i have a question about the cephound,

just like woIves the cephound hunts in groups. and you said they also track their prey or hunt those who hurt them, tracking animals have in general long snouts, it helps with their sense of smell, they weakenbthe animal ratherand hunt forbseveral days till the prey collapses in fatigue, while most of the cat famiy like the tiger, cheetah and panthers have short snouts, but strong jaws since they are lone hunters...

my question is will these traits still be similar to the animales you make or not?
and does the cephound run on all fours? or stand upright when he attacks?
i hope im not highjacking this thread to much...

Not a problem. I'm not going by "Earth animals" too much here, but yes, the Cephound does of a longer snout for smell. But they also track their prey more by hearing then anything else. The Traits of the animals aren't too much like mine. When I say that they hunt for several days, I mean that they would continue to hunt them until they have killed it. Normally, nothing can run from a Cephound after they have engaged in combat. If for some miraculous reason their prey is able to keep away from the pack, they will continue to hunt it, but in all likelyhood, anything will die in the first contact with the Cephound unless it is able to kill the Cephound. Also, the Cephound runs and attacks on all fours. It likes to lunge at the prey and bite or claw at vital points. It also tackles its prey and rips it to shreds. They also use a pack mentality and confuse the prey by distracting it with one Cephound and attacking from behind with another. I hope that helped. If you have anymore questions, e-mail them to me at [email protected]. I'll answer them from there.
