Post here if you have any (serious) interest in joining the Vast Empire Today, our club newsletter. The VE Today is composed of the follow divisions:
1) Reporter/Interviewer: This individual will keep track of current and future events for articles and interview the various VE members (at their discretion: Officer/Trooper of the month, individual interview after gaming/written competitions, etc.)
2) Gaming: This individual will head the Gaming division of the VE Today. The duties will be as such:
a. Writing articles on upcoming games
b. Find/Report current game news and updates (patches, mods, levels, skins, etc.)
c. Providing visuals for their articles
d. Post dates for upcoming gaming tournaments
3) Mr. VE: Mr. VE is a character I came up with to "host" a weekly/monthly "show" for the VE members. This job entails the following:
a. humorous images (keep it PG)
b. Interviewing individuals (either Live or pre-show)
c. Humor would be a positive
d. Organize the show in such a way that it is at least, or over, 1 page in length. (an easy task)
Now, I know that there are women out there too, so if a woman wanted to take on this role, then there can certainly be a Ms. VE. This duty comes with its perks, if you want to call it that: You get to have a new login (Mr. VE/Ms. VE), and report all of your shows using that name - posting all of your shows on the main website.
That's pretty much all I can think of at the moment. I'll post more information if something does come up. Also, all of these positions don't have to be headed by a single individual, and having assistance/working with others is encouraged. Takes off a lot of the burden and responsibility if you're working with a partner (or partners). -----------------------

I too would like to be an Inverviewer/Reporter.Also I would prefer to be a Military based reporter,reporting on the goings on in the military world.I believe that was discussed in the last topic.Also I don't know what we are renaming it but have you found out that VE Today also makes VET,kinda interesting.
Also this just popped into my head.What if we had somebody who know when all the squad meetings where and collected reports.Then when VE meeting time came he/she could make a very large report made of all the small reports.I don't know who handles reports probably you or the Big Cheese,but it would save somebody a hell of alot of time.

I can be a Reporter/Interviewer. but didn't really understand the jobs of a Gaming Reporter. if you can give me some more info on that Cos, i might be able to take that place as well. As for partners, i suggest that people partner up with ones in your own division, if possible, even your own squad/squadron mates.
Shakey, we do have a system kind of like that in the navy, where everyone, or just the squadron commanders, post their report in the ComNet, then who ever is on IRC at the time of the meeting, the highest ranked/positioned member, would make the report. -----------------------

Righto, Tal.
And looks like the Reporter/Interviewer position is pretty popular. Let me give the description of the Gaming head in a little more detail. The job is actually pretty enjoyable.
Gaming: This individual will write articles on upcoming games (SW related), new patches, mods, levels, skins, etc. The individual(s) with this position will go to websites such as Lucasarts.com and check out the new updates/games for those who don't visit that website on a regular basis like I do.
We have Star Wars Galaxies players, and this individual(s) will report on the activities that our SWG players have participated in (competitions, capturing Rebel bases, becoming Jedi/Dark Jedi, etc.)
So there's actually a variety of opportunities and tasks within this position.

The "show" would be displayed on the main site due to the visuals/images that you'll have. The individual interviews can either be done live on mIRC, via email, pm, etc. Doesn't matter, just as long as you include the interview in the final product of the show (on the domain). -----------------------

The positions above (with the exception of Mr./Ms. VE) is restricted to be head by only one individual. If they were, that one individual would quit within the first week or two due to the heavy load of responsibility that would immediately be thrust upon them.
Secondly, you don't have to own or play a particular game in order to review it. As an article writer, it is your duty to interview those who do play it, and ask them about their activities. -----------------------

So it looks like this is starting to turn out like a real newspaper,good.Might I make a suggestion though.Since there are indeed so many Reporters(almost everybody)mabey there should be two parts:A military reporter and a new reporter.Yes I know I've already brought this up but I seriously think it could work to our advantage. -----------------------

DJ234: I'm currently working on who's actually going to be doing this/taking this seriously (which, as the looks of things go, I'm almost done).
vint: you and two other individuals are Gaming Reporters. Your tasks will be divided as the three of you see fit... and if you guys can't decide, I'll assign you tasks.
There is another issue at hand: Web Designer. All of the articles will be posted on the VE Today website. In the past, the website had a newspaper-feel/look to it. If no one wants the job, I'll take over that. -----------------------

Ok, almost done. Last part is to figure out our schedule.
How do you guys want to do this? I'm asking you because I'm not the one doing the interviewing/researching for games, etc. (I've had my share in the past).
You guys want to make this Newsletter a once-a-month deal, or have weekly issues? If you decide for weekly issues, which divisions do you want to be weekly? Interview/Reporter, Mr. VE? I doubt there will be any weekly gaming news as the updates and such are somewhat far bewteen.
Anyway, you guys decide. I'm working on a salary proposal. -----------------------

Vint has a point,this is realy Cosmics desision,but I would like weekly for Reporter/Interviewer because if it was monthly I would do two or three things and then sit on my hands for a month,and trust me that isn't pretty.I eventualy run out of things to do and things get ugly.Sorry if that sounded a little pushy. -----------------------
